I woke up with Shadowheart in front of me. He was sleeping deeply probably talking to family like always. I stood up and walked to the edge of highledge and looked down. I watched as warriors came out and looked up at me. Shadowheart walked out and stood next to me. "Ready?" I asked. "Of course." He jumped down to his ledge and waited. Petalkit and Tigerkit were already at the bottom, Foxfur fussing over them. "All those old enough to catch there own prey come join me under the highledge."
I said softly, but the wind caught it and carried it around camp. Even more warriors walked out of there dens and stood below me. "Today two kits become apprentices." I said. Some warriors cheered below and I let them, equally happy. "Petalkit step forward." Petalkit scrambled forward and stopped just below me facing the crowd. "Petalkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Petalpaw. Your mentor will be Eagleflight. I hope Eagleflight will pass down all he knows on to you." Petalpaw smiled.
"Eagleflight step forward." Eagleflight walked through the crowd and stood next to Petalpaw. "Eagleflight, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Maplefall, and you have shown yourself to be honest and strong. You will be the mentor of Petalpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her." Eagleflight and Petalpaw touched noses and then walked to the other side of the front of the crowd. "Petalpaw! Petalpaw! Petalpaw!" The crowd cheered her name.
"Tigerkit step forward." Tigerkit had his chest puffed forward and his head held high as he walked over and sat down in the middle. He looked a lot like Tangleclaw and he acted like him too. "Tigerkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Tigerpaw. Your mentor will be Snakestrike. I hope Snakestrike will pass down all he knows on to you." Tigerpaw smiled at the name of his mentor.
"Snakestrike step forward." Snakestrike weaved through the crowd and sat down next to Tigerkit. "Snakestrike, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Blackfang, and you have shown yourself to be smart and determined. You will be the mentor of Tigerpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him." Snakestrike and Tigerpaw touched noses and then sat down next to Eagleflight and Petalpaw. "Tigerpaw! Tigerpaw! Tigerpaw!" The warriors of Thunderclan welcomed Tigerpaw as an apprentice.
"This meeting is over." I said simply jumping down and landing softly on the dusty floor. Eagleflight and Snakestrike talked for a bit there new apprentices running around them. They then left camp to tour the forest. Shadowheart made patrols while all of the other apprentices left as well with there mentors. I watched it all move smoothly and then Shadowheart joined me. "How are you feeling?" He asked. "I feel great actually." I said turning my head and rubbing my muzzle on his inner neck.
His neck vibrated letting loose a mighty purr. We laid in the sun and watched as Ashbreeze's kits walked out with wobbly legs. Darkkit looking menacing as he tackled his younger sibling who fell over getting used to the legs. Boulderkit mewed with complaint and Thornkit pushed him Darkkit off. Darkkit smiled and pounced on Thornkit, but Thornkit was bigger so he had him pinned easily. I knew what these kits were going to be like as Warriors even before they were a full day old.
Ashbreeze was laying down in the sun with Dustwhisker washing her fur. The kits saw us and ran over. Ashbreeze not even noticing. They skidded to a halt in front of us. "Hi!" Thornkit said cheerfully. "Hello Thornkit." I said to him. "Who are you?" Darkkit asked curiously. "I'm the leader of the clan. Wildstar is what you should call me." "Oh… I wanna be the leader some day." Darkkit said with a sneaky smile. "Who are you?" He turned toward Shadowheart. "I'm Shadowheart, the deputy of the clan." He said.
"I'm gonna be deputy!" Thornkit said determined. "Nu uh!" Darkkit said. "Yah uh!" Thornkit responded. They both wrestled on the ground forming a dust cloud. Boulderkit sneezed and then ran behind Shadowheart, hiding. "I don't wanna battle. It looks dangerous…" Boulderkit squeaked. I was worried about him, Smokecloud already had an apprentice, he didn't need two. Shadowheart turned toward Boulderkit and knelt down so they were eye to eye. "Being a warrior is great! You can be heroic and save clanmates from battle, or maybe just save them when you battle in a patrol. Using your smart wits you could maybe solve problems during patrols against another clan. There is more to being a warrior then just battle Boulderkit."
Boulderkit smiled, his confidence gone a little higher after Shadowheart told him that. "I'm going to be a great warrior Shadowheart! You just wait and see!" Boulderkit said excited now. "I think you will Boulderkit. A great warrior indeed…" Shadowheart said as Boulderkit ran over to the elders, curious as to who they were and probably to tell them the big news. "You're so good with kits…" I told him as joined me once more by my side. "Thanks…" he said smiling as he watched Boulderkit play with the elders.
I rolled over feeling the kits shift. There was definitely more than one. I can't wait I purred. Smokecloud walked over and looked down at me. He must be like Whitecloud and guess right away. "More kits Wildstar?" He smiled. "Of course…" I said. "You're not doing anything crazy that I might have to send you to the nursery early, are you?" He asked jokingly. I gave him a look and sat up. "Of course not Smokecloud." "Okay, you have a half moon before you should enter the nursery." he told me seriously. "Okay." I said tiredly.
I closed my eyes and heard Smokecloud walk away. I slowly fell asleep as I felt Shadowheart lick my back and neck rhythmically. I woke up in Starclan. "That's odd." I said looking around. "Hello Wildstar." Smallstar said walking into the open. "Smallstar!" I said surprised. "Thunderclan is growing rapidly." Smallstar said with a smile. "Yes I know. Isn't it great?" "But of course…" Smallstar said sitting down next to me. He was so much smaller than me but he had a higher rank. I looked at me and he looked over and into my eyes.
I gasped as I saw a vision. It was all white but then darkness on either side ran at each other jaws open wide and claws gleaming and crashed into each other, red splattering everywhere. While I saw this I heard, Shadow will battle Shadow in attempt to seek new clan life. It faded as I was brought back to camp. I took a couple deep breaths and thought about this. Shadow will battle Shadow? That must mean Shadowclan versus Shadowheart. In attempt to seek new clan life? Kits? Why?
I was crazily confused at what this all could mean. Shadowheart was talking to Ashbreeze and Dustwhisker by the nursery. Boulderkit was climbing on his back and Thornkit and Darkkit were trying to catch his tail which was high up in the air. Thornkit leaped about a mouse tail away, he growled and tried again. I got up and walked over to Smokecloud's Den. I needed to talk to somebody about this. "Smokecloud?" I said into the darkness of the Medicine Den. Wishpaw appeared with a smile.
He took a herb leaf and set it down in front of him. "He went to look for herbs?" I asked. Wishpaw nodded his head happily. "Okay, well I will just wait for him then." I laid down at the entrance and watched Wishpaw organize herbs like Smokecloud must of told him. I heard a swish as I looked over and Smokecloud walked past. He put down his herbs and then said, "What do you need Wildstar?" Could we talk somewhere more private? Like my den!" I got and walked there Smokecloud telling Wishpaw something and then following.
I sat down in the middle and thought about what I was going to say. "I received a prophecy from Smallstar while I was taking a nap." Smokecloud looked intrigued. "It said, Shadow will battle Shadow in attempt to seek new clan life." Now Smokecloud looked a little worried. "We're going to battle Shadowclan over kits?" He said. "That's what I thought…" I whispered. "This doesn't seem right… Why would we battle over kits?" Smokecloud said. "Unless… they're theirs and ours!" I said figuring it out.
"What do you mean?" Smokecloud asked totally confused. "I mean, one of our warriors is getting too close to a Shadowclan warrior." "Oh… who do you think it is?" "It could be anybody… I don't know." "Well I will keep my ears and eyes open Wildstar." "Me too. Thank you, Smokecloud." He nodded in farewell and then left. I got up and walked near the edge of the highledge. Snakestrike and Eagleflight were back with there apprentices. "Those two are so close. I bet they have a ton of secrets." I said
What am I thinking? It wouldn't be one of my kits, would it…? I thought watching them grab prey with there overly excited apprentices. Foxfur walked over to talk to her kits and Snakestrike and Eagleflight moved over a bit. I didn't even see them talked but they were looking at each other and laughing once in awhile. So they can talk in private. I thought. Shadowheart appeared next to me following my sight. They were eating and then Snakestrike burst into a laughing fit. He stopped instantly and then looked around.
"I talked to Smokecloud about the prophecy." He said to me. I turned my head to him. "Who do you think it is?" I asked. "I have no idea. This prophecy seems sorta random." "That's how most prophecies are." I mumbled. More warriors walked into camp. Probably just returning from a patrol. They headed straight to bed. Some apprentices ran into camp, there mentors following laughing together. Snakestrike and Eagleflight both stood up and walked over to Tinyleap who was eating. More warriors went to bed.
The sun was just setting when Shadowheart spoke. "Wanna go to bed?" "Sure" I said getting up suddenly. I turned around and headed into my den. Shadowheart close behind. I walked circles on my bed and then laid down gently. Shadowheart curled in a ball in front of me, our paws tangled together. I put my head on our paws and Shadowheart licked the top of my head. I slowly fell asleep, I felt Shadowheart put his head right next to mine.
I smiled, right now I was happy, the worries of the prophecy gone until tomorrow.
