MPK: Okay guys! I finished, but there's a catch...This isn't the last chapter! It's the second to last chapter! For real this time! Yay! But both the last one and the new story should be up together! (Which should be later today, or tomorrow) God, this was so time consuming.
I had to listen to sad osts from the anime Amnesia in order to finish this chapter. So warning: feels approaching. Also sorta graphic content too.
When I wake up the next morning, I instantly realized that I was leaning off the edge of the bed. The strangest part was...I didn't think the bed was mine. Not anyone else's bedroom in the house either. No, this bed was different. In fact, so was the whole room.
I first opened my eyes to see that my left arm had fallen off of the bed. The back of my hand was touching the cold floor. It wasn't the cold hardwood floors of Yugi's house though, this floor was made of stone or some kind of concrete I observed. Pulling my arm back on top the bed, my eyes then wander around the room. I became aware of the canopy hanging over me. I became aware of the stone brick walls enclosing the area around me. I couldn't really see much else of what was in the room, it was all too fuzzy, even after I rubbed my eyes clean. The only other thing I was able to see was the view from the balcony that was a little ways from the bed. Strangely enough, the view match the decor of the bedroom. A huge Egyptian pyramid stood tall and wide just outside, and at its peak, the rising sun was shining down just above it.
"It's so beautiful..." I murmured to myself.
"But so are you, my dear."
My shoulders jumped slightly. I hadn't even noticed someone was in the room. I rolled over to look behind me and there he was. Lying under the silk sheets that were wrapped around the both of us. Next to me, was You know who. Except he was tan skinned, and wearing his Egyptian clothes. This was not the spirit, but the Pharaoh.
"G-Good Morning, Pharaoh." I said unconsciously.
The Pharaoh genuinely smiled at me, "I woke up to see Ra at its highest in the sky, but then I saw you sleeping and I couldn't help myself but to continue to lay down next to you. You were so beautiful I didn't want to wake you." I blushed at his words. First, I got to experience having Yami Yugi say things like this to me, but now him as the Pharaoh? Oh my gosh, it's truly every Yugioh fangirl's dream. The Pharaoh lifted his left arm out of sheets and cupped my cheek, "To think, I can finally make you blush. I wish I could see this sight forever."
"Pharaoh..." At this point, I was speechless. I was weak from being told such deep words. Of course it was going to make me blush! It would make any girl blush! If it wasn't his words, it was his appearance definitely. I'll be completely honest, HE WAS HOT.
The Pharaoh touched his forehead against mine, "Good Morning, my Princess..." He picked up my left hand and pinched my ring finger, which had a beautiful embroider ruby ring. WAIT, A RING? A RING? NO WAY DOES THAT MEAN~ "...Iie. Good Morning, my Queen." My eyes widened. The Pharaoh chuckled softly, "Please get use to me saying that. I hope I can do so myself as well. Hmm, My Queen~"
"N-N-N~" The Pharaoh slowly moved in closer to kiss me. But just as his lips could touch mine...
I woke up again, in the same position I was in before. The only difference, the back of my hand was touching a throw rug, the one that was next to my bed on top of the hardwood floor of my room.
Corrine's POV
I slowly try to get up again, confused from my newest vision. I've never seen something like that before, it sounds like one of those nightmares Trey was having, except there was more flirting. Perhaps it means something serious is about to happen. Never the less, it was still kind of cool. Me back in ancient Egypt with the Pharaoh, implanted memory or dream it was still amazing. If I could only have a dream that amazing in my world...
As I tried to get up, two things prevented me from doing so. The first thing was poking me from behind. I rolled over slowly to find that the cold metal tip of the millennium puzzle was at my back. From then I easily guess what the second thing was. After seeing the puzzle, I saw Yami who was attached to it, laying next to me just like in the dream, except I got to see his sleeping face which was very serious, but cute at the same time. Both his arms were encircled around my waist, which was also stopping me from sitting up. When I moved his arms squeezed me harder. I didn't know what hurt worse, Yami squeezing the life out of me or the millennium puzzle, that's tip was stabbing me again in my side this time. When it did so though, I saw glimpses of the vision again. I couldn't tell the difference between the vision and reality anymore. It was making me dizzy. I had to sit up.
With all my might, I pushed myself up against the headboard of the bed, not caring I heard a crack in the back of it. I had forgotten that it was of those cheap headboards that if you lean on it it would break because it was only being supported by two beams. But sitting up was more important at the moment I thought, so I just laid against it softly. Yami's grip never loosened even as I had twisted my body to move further up the bed. His arms were still in the same position on my waist, his head still on his pillow.
I grabbed the millennium puzzle from under my leg and moved it closer towards Yami, making my dizziness subside. The vision had stopped playing my mind, but I still remembered what had happened in it. Now I could think better. Questions started flooding into my head like a river into the ocean. The first three: What happened last night? And why is Yami even in bed with me?! Did we do something I'll regret?
'We went on a date yesterday, and ended up coming back late last night.' A voice I thought was in my mind answered each question slowly. 'Since we found Treyvon sleeping in Yugi's bed, we stayed in your room and talked for a while and you fell asleep alongside me on the bed. And no, we didn't do anything, but it makes me feel annoyed that you would say, if we did do something last night, that you'd regret it.'
I looked down at Yami, who had actually been talking, 'Oh the mind link, I forgot. How'd we get like this again?'
"I dunno." Yami says with his mouth this time. "But your vision, I don't think it was one. Between the canopy bed and the view from the balcony, it all seemed too real." I hear him murmur behind me. I look back over at him in surprise. "Yeah, I was able to see it too. But I thought it was a dream. But since you saw it too...perhaps it's a memory? It was like one of the nightmares Trey described, only more favorable..." I sweatdropped at our similar comparison, "...But anyway, apologize."
"Apologize? About what?"
"For saying that if we did do something, you'd regret it."
"Uh, yeah I would. I mean I wouldn't have any memory of~!" Without warning, Yami pulls me closer towards him. I lose my balance, and hold myself up with one arm, my hand on Yami's pillow. He had moved his head so that it now rested comfortably on my thigh.
"You're so cruel sometimes..." Yami says so softly that I couldn't hear him. Without opening his eyes he murmured quietly, "Just apologize later. Sleep with me a little longer. I'm not ready to wake up."
"Hey, I'm not exactly a morning person either, but I'm just about fully awake now so~"
"Don't you get it Corrine? Geez, can't you ever take a hint properly?" Yami pulls me down more so that we are face to face, both of our heads are on our pillows again, "I don't ever remember spending time with you like this. Even if it's just like this, can't you see that I just want to be near you right now? Can't you see that I don't want this moment to end yet?" Yami gets even closer to me by hugging me around the waist, burying his face in my shoulder. The closer he was to me, the redder my face had gotten. You better believe I was a tomato by now.
I use my free arm that wasn't pinned underneath me to brush away Yami's hair out my face. I was getting worried. Yami hadn't been acting like himself since he woke up. What could be wrong? He sounds so sad...I don't want him to be..."Daijoubu, Pharaoh?" I ask unconsciously. Once I realized that I had called him Pharaoh like in my dream, it was too late to take the words back.
However Yami didn't really seemed phased by his new nickname anyway, "I'm fine...it's just...I...don't want you to go, Corrine." Yami kept hesitating as he spoke. "It's just...lately, I keep feeling like I'm going to lose you. That one day, when I wake up, you won't be here with me. It may sound weird to you but, I feel like I've been separated from you for very long time and to have you near me like this...it's like a dream." He plays with my hair, "Just the thought of you leaving my side again...it...pains me..." As soon as he said that, I could already hear Treyvon's words strongly resonating in my head, almost as if to remind me.
"I don't how to tell reality and truth from fantasy and lies anymore 'Rin. The only way I can think of, to know for sure is to go back. I want to know which world truly is our home Corrine! Because, I think I've lost my idea of home is to me. I want to go home!"
"Please Corrine...Stay with me." He whispered quietly.
I finally embraced him back, laying my head in the crook of his shoulder. I had to hide the tears that were streaming down my face. "I-I'm not...going anywhere..." I lied. That's when I heard the door creak.
I could just barely make out the person standing in the doorway through my tears, Treyvon. He had his camcorder in his hand, extremely visible this time. Was he always filming Yami and I when we were alone? Even so, he had amazing timing, what did he have a sixth sense?! Whatever the reason, he was in the room and was coming towards us. A few seconds later, I felt the darkness taking over me again. When I started getting groggy, I could faintly hear Trey chanting something, in a language I couldn't understand. Also, his eyes were glowing green again...and he had my necklace wrapped around his freehand. In a flash, he was right next to the bed.
"I merely exist to protect the princess...It's my number one duty, and right now you are classified as something that is dangerous to her well being, you liar." He murmured. I felt Treyvon cover my eyes with a hand. "It is now your judgement time, Pharaoh...Time to tell the truth, or hope to die."
...
Wake up.
Wake up, Corrine.
...WAKE UP RIGHT NOW!
I bolt upward from the bed. A voice that sounded a lot like my own had jolted me awake. "What the~" I hold my shoulders to try and calm myself down. I look around to get a better sense of what had just happened, but both Yami and Treyvon are gone. No one was standing over me, no one was lying the bed next to me. Even worse, when I tried to look at the time, I realized that the hands on the clock weren't moving. Was time frozen again? Or was the clock just broken?
I got up and went to the doorway. I was about to call out for the two, but I had already found them. They were just down the hall, lying on the floor. "Treyvon! Yami!" I ran over to them. The two were facing each other, both leaning on the opposite side of one another. Both looked unconscious.
"Treyvon!" I went next to him first. Treyvon was lying on the ground, his back leaning against the wall, eyes closed and necklace still wrapped around his hand. Little strands from Treyvon's black bangs had fallen in front of his face. Aside from that, he looked fine, he wasn't even pale. Still, he wouldn't answer me. "Treyvon are you okay! Wake up! What happened!? Oh god Treyvon, answer me!"
Yami on the other hand, was a different story. "Yami! Yami!" I kneeled next to him. His back was propped up against the railing. It had to hurt having the rails supporting him up, dig in his back like that. His hair was a mess, like he had been in a fight, but that was probably because he hadn't combed it though. His cheeks were red like he had been punched, and Treyvon had to have been the only one to do it. "Oh god! What happened here!?" If that wasn't enough, his arms were above his head, tied by a small piece of rope to the railing. I quickly untied Yami and held him in my arms. "Ne...wake up! Ne! Yami! Yugi! Anyone?!" This didn't make any sense. Now Treyvon could have been knocked out unconscious or something, that's why he wasn't responding. But Yami was just a second soul in Yugi's body. I didn't make sense that neither of them was able to answer me. "What is going on!?"
Suddenly, Yami stirred in my arms. When he opened his eyes though, I realized that it wasn't crimson eyes that were staring back at me, they were purple, round shaped eyes. "Yugi? Yugi?!"
"Corrine...chan?" Yugi murmured in a low, quiet voice. "You're awake...D-Don't leave..."
"Thank goodness you're awake! Yugi you're so cold!" I exclaimed ignoring him. "Daijoubu?!"
"...it's so cold." I looked down at Yugi's body. It still looked like Yami's instead of his own, because laid out like that he still looked taller. His white shirt was open, his black vest showing from underneath it and the millennium puzzle rested on his chest. "...I-I can barely feel my body...I-I can barely move. But, don't leave, please don't leave..."
"Yugi slow down! What happened here? Why isn't Treyvon responding to me? And why isn't Yami in control?" I ask him. Yugi looked at me with his eyes narrowed. "Did something happened to their souls~?!" Out of nowhere, Yugi miraculously finds the strength to sit up slightly. But when he does, his small lips pecked mine. I jolt back slightly in surprise, "Ah, Yugi! Don't move so suddenly!" That's when the kawaii baby panda's lips touched mine again, and realized that it was no accident.
Yugi Muoto was intentionally kissing me, on the lips. (MPK: KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~)
"R-Rin-chan, I-I...really like you." Yugi said weakly.
"Heh?" My brain could not break down what was happening here. I slowly repeated each of Yugi's words in my head. "...What!?"
"I-I really like you Corrine-chan. A lot. So don't leave..."
"Yugi I'm right here, it's all right!" I say staring at him quizzically, "Yugi, I like you too. If I didn't I wouldn't be here right~"
"That's not it!" Yugi shouted and my eyes widened, "What I mean't by it was that...that I-I love you!" I went silent after hearing that. "I love everything about you, Corrine. You're funny, you're smart, you're brave and a lot more that it would take me too long to say. And I know, we don't have much time..." He murmured, "But I get, that even so...you probably like the other me, a lot more than you like me. For some reason, it always seemed like you were closer to him than you ever were to me. You probably only stayed with me this long only because of him. But that's why you can't leave. You like him right? If you leave me, you'll be leaving him too! If you leave, he'll be hurt! That's why you can't leave. So please don't leave!" Yugi cried desperately.
I could only stare at the boy sobbing in front of me. Everything the baby panda had said was basically true. But I mean if Yugi didn't have Yami, it wouldn't really be Yugioh, the concept of it would be gone. He made me feel so guilty. Seeing Yugi cry brought tears back to my own eyes. "Yugi, I'm not going anywhere..." I began to lie again. Unlike Yami however, Yugi saw right through that.
"LIAR." Yugi growled, scaring me. "You plan on going back to your world as soon as you know how! I heard you and Treyvon!"
"You were eavesdropping on us?"
"Not intentionally, b-but yes!" He stuttered, "He's so determined to take you away from me..."
"Yugi, it's not like t~"
"YES IT IS! HE CONVINCED YOU TO LEAVE! IT'S HIS FAULT!" Yugi shouted in tears. By now I had realized something was very wrong with Yugi. Even if he was truly this upset, he wouldn't be shouting or acting like this. He was starting to sound, like another person... "~IF HE NEVER FOUND YOUR iPAD IN MY ROOM, WE WOULDN'T EVEN BE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION RIGHT NOW!"
"Now hold on!" I shout and hold onto his shoulders, "Yugi, you had my iPad? In your room? This whole time!?" Yugi made a face that was very out of character for him. His face was contorted into a scowl, his eyes seemed to be drifting into another world.
"I...didn't know that that was what it was when I found it..."
"When did you find it? When did you know?"
"...In all honesty..." Yugi hesitated, "...I found it right after I found you. I was holding it when you first passed out in front of me after tapping the air. I kept it in my room ever since, studying it from time to time, until last night. Treyvon had somehow used the power of your necklace to take it from it's hiding place and confront the other me about it this morning. I only knew he had done so because just recently I've been able to sometimes be conscious while the other me had control. They came out in the hall so that they wouldn't wake you. But then, Treyvon got really mad and chanted some weird words, and that's why...they are..."
"They are what? Yugi where are they?"
"...somewhere...inside of the puzzle." Yugi says quietly. At this point, I didn't know how to respond to this situation. So much had developed, not to mention had been revealed to me in only a few minutes. "I don't know what's going on now." He gestured to the millennium puzzle holding it up to me. "If you know what to do, be my guest."
I touch the millennium puzzle and I am suddenly engulfed in its bright light. "But beware," I heard a voice that sounded like Yugi's, but didn't at the same time. "You may not like what you see." After hearing those words, I was blind for the longest time. I could only faintly hear the voice cackling until complete and utter silence. Then it was just peacefully bright.
"Corrine Casterwill." A new voice called to me, "Stand up and receive your fate."
"Huh?" I slowly look up, after realizing I was still on my knees. I ignored how weak my body suddenly was. My eyes met face to face with a women who shared a strong resemblance to me, one I had recognized. It was Dark Corrine that stood above me peering down sternly, "Dark Corrine, what's going on? What are you doing? Where am I?"
"You are inside the millennium puzzle, child. The small piece of it I have managed to occupy."
"We're inside the millennium puzzle? Wait how have you~"
"I'm going to stop you right there." She interrupted, "If you start attacking me with another round of questions, we will get nowhere. By then it will be too late to save Yugi and your precious "little brother" Treyvon."
'She didn't mention Yami.' I thought, 'What does that mean? Is he the one doing this?'
"I am tired of watching from the deep depths of this darkness. I hate playing by someone else's rules." Dark Corrine grimaced, "So we are going to play by my rules now. Corrine Casterwill, it's game time!" The wind around us picked up slightly. I watched as some type of magic swirl around the woman. When it died down, Dark Corrine explained some more. "Look around you Casterwill, I have placed us in the shadow realm. It's the perfect setting for a game. A Yami no Game."
'So this is why I feel like this. So weak~'
"The Yami no Game will decide the future for you and this world. Using the necklace's power to turn time backwards and forward again, I was able to see how things will continue for you here-I don't believe you deserve it. So I'm going to see, find out if you are truly worthy of being me!"
'Being her?' I think to myself, 'But I'm not her, she's just someone who looks like me. Maybe the puzzle is creating an illusion? Maybe it's just making me hallucinate~'
"Corrine. You can call me your twin, your darker half if it pleases you. But you will NOT, categorize me as an illusion! I am very real! I won't allow you to continue on living, in this world or "yours", if you won't give the respect I deserve!" Dark Corrine yelled. "Right now, I don't care if you think that you aren't me, that it's just another "plotline" of this story. Believe it like that, but if that's the case, you must continue to play your part here like everyone else!"
"But why~" Corrine started to ask weakly, "Why do you want to play a shadow game, right now?"
"Does it really matter?" Dark Corrine spat, "All you should care about is that you can't escape! Listen! I won't hand over my husband to you if you aren't capable of being his wife!"
"HUH?!"
Darkness fell over Dark Corrine's eyes, "I love the Pharaoh. I married him almost 3000 years ago it seems in this universe. But as soon as we had barely started our life together with our children...Bakura betrayed us, along with another person who shall not be named. I am still too enraged with anger to utter the syllables of her name." She clenched her fists, "Bakura and that evil woman had learned a dark ritual that used magic that does not even dwell in this world. She got him to gather what was needed to execute it, and chant the final spell that would seal my fate." Dark Corrine looked at me dead in the eyes, "That ritual was performed to not only kill me, but to make sure I would never return! She want to erase my very existence!"
"Um...well, it doesn't look like she succeeded..."
"Not exactly no. But if you'd ask me back then, I would have told you she won. And she basically has." She saddened, "Even though the ritual didn't kill me, or erase my existence like she wanted, it broke my soul into 6 different individual pieces and sent them to places unknown. My body had become an empty shell, and no one knew how to bring me back, so most just assumed that I was dead. I remember hearing the Pharaoh's cries and rage as he blamed himself for not being able to save me..."
"Matte~" I interrupted her, "How you know about all of that, if you had died?"
"Before the incident, I had sensed that something like that would happen soon. That something dangerous would appear and manifest before I could stop it. Even the comfort of my Loyal Royal Knights or any of their apprentices could set me at ease. So I made extra precautions in order to ensure the lives of my children, with hopes that I may one day reunite with them again..." I don't think that she had noticed, but Dark Corrine had started shaking. Whether it was out anger, regret, or just plain sadness I didn't know. For some reason her story was tugging at my heart, sending me into a spiral of feels. "...One of those precautions, was locking a piece of my soul into the Pharaoh's millennium puzzle. He had protest to it at first, and tried to reassure me that I was worrying about nothing, but I was able to convince to let me do so by explaining to him that I wasn't just making this up. That is how I am able to speak to you now. I am the only part of our soul left that still remembers and was able to watch from afar, the events that were yet to come."
"Our soul?"
Dark Corrine ignored me, "You may know of this part, the battle between Zorc and the Pharaoh? In order to destroy him, he had to lock all the dark magic away inside of the millennium items, including his own millennium puzzle. A huge portion was hidden in there, along with his own soul. It was then, that he and I were reunited and we kept each other company in that small space for 3000 years or so until that very day that Yugi Muoto put the pieces of the millennium puzzle back together. The Pharaoh's soul was released and his memories were erased, so from then on I took to hiding from him until I could get the chance to have my own soul, or what's left of it, back into my own body. Which brings me to this day, this moment in time. Never giving up hope has allowed fate to bring us together."
"Oh come on." I started thinking aloud, "So what fate brought us together? You're just a piece of a soul..." Dark Corrine glared, "What exactly can you do to me? Or rather, what do you want with me..."
Dark Corrine made a really weird grin, "That is what you naturally would be worried about. Isn't it?" She snickered, "I'm done explaining what I wanted, I'm not answering your questions anymore! Now it is time for you to answer mine. For now I am going to judge you!" A golden scale appeared in her hand. "I will now perform the Yami no Game called the Question of the Truth. My family has practiced many types of magic and traditions from many realms such as this one, which you are about to witness. This is the golden scale is similar to the millennium scale you may have heard of. If you haven't, I don't think you are going to do so well in this game." Dark Corrine makes a swift movement with her hand and a white feather appears in her palm. "I place the Feather of Ma'at to one side of it, and as you can see, the weight balances out. I'm going to ask a series of questions. If you don't tell the truth, the scale will lean toward the other side which is known as your side of sins."
"You're performing a Weighing of the Heart ritual on me!" I say, "Yeah, I remember this, this is what Shadi did to Professor Kanekura earlier on just before all this princess stuff started up!"
"However, this is a little different. Kuriboh!" A small Kuriboh floats from behind her, "This is my pet Kuriboh, Tora. The Pharaoh gave him to me as a birthday present one year. As you can see, he's still quite young and fragile. I've made him small enough to fit on the other side of this scale with a temporary spell." Tora hmmed and took his place on the scale. The little white haired fuzzball was so kawaii I could explode from awing, if I still didn't feel so weak. "He's the only other company I've had in this place since I was locked away and a precious friend. If his side of the scale falls, his fur will go darker until it's black. If that side hits the ground, his fur will turn completely black and he will die. If he dies, I will show you know mercy."
"WHAT!? Why isn't Tora scared at all!? More importantly, if he's your friend, why would you put his life on the line like that!?"
"Tora has been trained to give his life for me at any given time, the same way all my knights have. That's why he has no fear of death."
"That poor Kuriboh...What have you been through?" 'I've never felt so much for a hairy ball in my life...'
"And let's just say, maybe it will give you more incentive to tell the truth! If Tora dies today, his death will be upon your hands, allowing me to be free from guilt and kill you without hesitation..."
"WHOA! KILL ME?"
"That's right! If you win, I'll merge back together with you willingly, and we'll be one step closer to getting the rest of our life back! If you lose, your punishment game is me taking my body back from you and erasing your somehow existing soul from existence with whatever power I have left! You got that!?" I nodded viciously at Dark Corrine's rage. She is truly not a woman to be messed with. "Enough talk! Let get going! Game start!"
Dark Corrine started asking multiple things. Things about Yami, ancient Egyptian times, basic Yu-Gi-Oh knowledge was the stuff she asked about at first. I'll admit I got a couple things wrong, but when I did the scale dropped. Apparently each wrong guess I gave is considered a sin. "Oh come on! But I'm not lying!"
"Each wrong guess is considered a sin." Dark Corrine repeats and I frowned. Then her questions became harder to answer her when she started asking me about herself, her family, her powers, and her "Loyal Royal Knights". I couldn't answer any of it, because I didn't know.
"Hey! How do you expect me to know this? I don't know anything about you, us, whatever!"
"You don't know anything about us, eh? You do know, you just don't remember. Because of the curse."
"Curse?"
Dark Corrine ignored me, "If that's the case, let me ask about you about yourself then..."
This is when things got tricky. She started asking me questions like what's my favorite color, SKY BLUE. What's my lucky number, 7. Suppose to be easy right? But then she asks about my past. Where was I born? THE REAL WORLD. If I were to give my real address, would they even know where that is? I watched as little Tora leaned back and forth up and down over and over.
"How many siblings do you have?"
"Two! Tyler and Treyvon!" For some reason, my heart beat stopped for a moment, almost as if I knew I was lying. But that is true! Either way Tora's fur grew darker, "Now hold on! That is the truth! Those two have been with me since~!" Something in me felt weird. It was a feeling I couldn't describe. I only could say that it was like...I was doubting myself. "But I...If I'm wrong, then what's the truth!?" Dark Corrine had her eyes closed and didn't say anything. "That can't be...Tyler and Treyvon...they are...I've lived with them from as long as I can remember! As long as...I can...remember...?"
"And how much of that, do you remember, "Corrine Casterwill"? And think, think hard." Dark Corrine egged on. I closed my eyes.
"The first thing...I remember is..." I thought as hard as I can, trying to remember the truth.
'Hey...are you alright?...look at me...Princess!...'
'What are you talking about? This is your family.'
'We'll protect you no matter what okay, sister?'
"I can only remember...them from a few years ago..." I say slowly. Dark Corrine stares at me silently, "Kai...and my family...I've lived with them, for only 2 years? But then where was I before then? I can only remember, an accident, my mind..." I shook my head, "No...no no! That's not true! It's not real! You're doing this to me somehow! I'm getting my real memories mixed up with ones you guys are trying to implant in my head! Stop it!" Tora hmmed again as he grew darker, "No, Tora!"
"Disappointing. Absolutely disappointing!" Dark Corrine shouts, "You're scared, scared of facing the truth! The truth that you've been searching for since your very existence was born! To figure out where you truly came from, and who you truly are! You can only remember spending 2 years with them? That's because that is how long you've spent living that alternate life you think is true! And that's all you remember because the rest was wiped away by the curse."
"Shut up. Shut up, Shut up!"
"Tch. You're failing Corrine, and I'm losing my patience with you!" Dark Corrine snarled, "In order to become me again, you must be capable of remembering again! If you're this scared of doing so you are of no use to me! 1 questions, 1 more before Tora's side will fall! I'm getting eager now, eager to kill you!" Her words were sharp and venomous, "So last question! There are 52 cards in a deck or playing cards. What is the Pharaoh's favorite card?"
"Playing card?" I repeated. How random is this question?
"This question is testing your love for the Pharaoh. If you know him like you think you do, this should be easy for you. But at this point~"
"...The Queen." I felt something hit me, like lightning bolt.
"Eh? The queen?" Dark Corrine repeated, "There are 4 Queens in a deck, which Queen is his favorite?"
"The Queen Of Hearts." I say quickly, with more confidence than before. It felt like a new found nostalgia came over me.
Dark Corrine was taken aback, "...How...did you guess that?" I closed my eyes.
"Good Morning, my Princess...Iie. Good Morning, my Queen."
"He is a Pharaoh. When a pharaoh gets married, that woman becomes not a princess, but a Queen..."
"To think, I can finally make you blush. I wish I could see this sight forever."
"...And if he ever had one, he would love his queen, with his heart. He treasure her, and unconsciously make her feel special." That was something I knew, and believed.
"C-Correct." Dark Corrine stuttered. Tora's fur grew lighter some. "If you gave answers like this in the beginning, you probably would have one the game by now. But don't get cocky off of that, that was only one good, correct answer. You have a ways to go in order to get the scale balanced again, and then drop on the other side."
Dark Corrine continued with her question, and I continued giving her answers, ones that she deemed were good. I had no idea where the answers were coming from, but they were just there. Nostalgia starting to hit me on all sides, giving me this sudden new wind. I could barely feel the effects of the shadow realm on my soul while I kept answering. I was only focused on her questions, so that I could defeat her as quickly as I can. I mean, I hadn't forgotten I came here to rescue Yami, Yugi and Treyvon. Now nothing could stop me.
"Now last one. What one person, could end up being the cause of the Pharaoh's demise?" Right then, I drew a blank. This was the last question and I couldn't find the slightest thought that could help me answer it. 'Oh come on, I'm so close! Just think harder! You know this, somehow.' That's when I remembered what Aileen had told me a while ago...
"Your boyfriend is a really strong opponent, but has a weakness, his love for his friends. You must protect him, before his heart becomes his downfall."
'But his love for friends, that's not a person...' Then it clicked, "Himself. He has a strong love for his friends. Because of that, he makes risky choices in order to protect the ones he cares about. If he's not careful, his own heart could be the cause of his future downfall. That's why...we, have to watch over him."
"...Correct, indeed. And with that, this shadow game is over." Dark Corrine said, "Tora's fur is safely back to white, and no harm has become of him, I'm glad." She smiled sadly, falling to her knees. "I guess that means, I lose huh?" Tora flew over to her side and rubbed himself against her cheek as if to sooth her.
"I guess your punishment is that you have to join with me, and not take over me right?" I gained enough strength to walk over to her. I held out my hand to her, "Then let's do this."
Dark Corrine hugged Tora, "Heh? You're eager to do this now? But I don't sense that your mind set has changed drastically about any of this being real..."
"A women that sincere about her past would blurt out her life story to a stranger, in detail or on the spot like that. You obviously knew what you was talking about. And I believe that what you said was your true struggle; I empathize with you because of it." Was my answer to her. "This is something that you want right? If it is, then it's not my right to tell you that what you are seeking to do is not fighting for." I told her kneeling on the ground, hand still out for her to grab. "Besides, if this was all made up, then this shouldn't effect me at all right? This could help me figure out what the truth is. Regardless of what I do and don't believe, this is your punishment in which you have to receive." Tora left her arms and flew to her side, "So give me your hand, and do it."
Dark Corrine just gazed at me for a moment, then gave a keen smile. "Ah. I think, I chose right by not just getting rid of you after all." She gripped my hand, "Perhaps, there was a part of me, that was even still in you..." The blue diamond in her head chain shined extremely bright making me close my eyes. Suddenly I could feel nothing but excruciating pain. It spread through my whole being from what I think was my soul. As soon as it started it was gone though. I opened my eyes and what was left of Dark Corrine were disintegrating pieces on the floor. However, I didn't feel much different.
"I'll pray for you, you foolish woman..."
"What a show..." A voice suddenly rung out. I looked up seeing no one. "You even ended off with a great line! I think your mini light show could be eligible for an award!" His snickering I instantly realized was similar to the snickering I heard before I got sent inside the puzzle. I looked everywhere in my surroundings, and notice I'm not in the shadow realm any more, but in a room. A soul room, one that looked like the Pharaoh's. I wasn't sure whether it was his real one or a illusion, but the throne was there, shrouded by darkness.
"Who's there?" I asked and only heard snickering. I shouted more confidently, "Who's there!? Show your self!"
The sole darkness that was rapped around the throne grew stronger. "You remember me, I know you do. Whether you think so or not. Remember me." It said almost in a growl.
"You...you come out when Yami can't control himself." For some reason it was getting slightly easier to remember things I was being asked about. Just by the sound of it's voice, I could tell who it was. Could that be what has changed because of Dark Corrine? "You're Yami's...even darker side..."
The shadow grinned, forming into Yami's doppelganger-like shadow like the one you would see on the ground when Yugi transformed. Then his form transitioned once more, into more of a body, a body like Yami's. He looked just like Yami, except he looked like Yami did when I first met the guy. Cold, dark, and scary. "Right, you never did give me a name." He said with a finger on his chin like he was thinking. He crossed his legs and sat back on the throne. "I guess you can call me Dark Yami. It's cliche, but you're sure to remember it." He says shifting eyes to stare right into my dark blue ones. I took a step back, "Oh don't start fearing me now."
Tora, who I hadn't notice was still here, hid behind me. "What do you want from me?"
"From you? Oh nothing. I was only hear to watch. Watch something happen that she had wanted to happen for as long as I can remember." I looked back at him confusingly. Dark Yami blinked as he tried to get his story straight, "As you already know, I am a part of "Yami" that was always kept locked away, and used when needed, which wasn't very often. So I broke free multiple times to get some "free air" I suppose one could say. But each time I did so, "Yami" always ended up doing something he regretted, not that I cared. But the point is he did, so I only ended up in much stronger confinement than before. But I've broken free again, thanks to "Yami's" new found emotions, much to his displeasure." I could only listen as he spoke, as for comprehension, I really did not understand.
'There's another Yami? I only knew Yugi and Yami. Is this another Yugioh glitch?'
"Your facial expression only shows confusion right now. If your not getting this, I won't stress myself into explaining it to you. Let me just get to the point." Dark Yami uncrosses his legs, "That women, Dark Corrine as you called her, she was the only person that kept me company here. She amused me when I was bored and did everything she could to give me a reason not to break free again and cause trouble. Without her, there's no reason to hold back. She's gone now." He looked down, his shadowy bangs hiding his expression. "And it's your fault, you're the cause of her disappearing. Since you killed her, I should kill you."
When Dark Yami's voice even darker than before, both Tora and I jumped slightly. Tora jumped right into my arms shaking. I thought he was suppose to have no fear? Perhaps, even he would be scared of Dark Yami. He's starting to make me shiver too. Dark Yami gets up and I walk back a few steps. "H-Hey! Stay back! If you're trying to scare us it started working two minutes ago!"
Dark Yami only evilly cackled, "The saying goes, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth right? Then a soul for a soul wouldn't break the equivalent exchange." He headed straight into my direction. I backed up each time he took a step back so that I could keep us the same distance a part. "There's no point in running, I know every square inch of this mind's labyrinth after being trapped here for so long. I won't let you leave it unharmed." At his last word, I felt my back hit a wall. Damn.
"Corrine!" I soundly hear the voices of Treyvon, Yugi, and Yami in unison shout. But I can't look elsewhere to find out from where they came from.
Dark Yami stops a distance away from me, "It's already to late. Death is your only future now."
"No. There's always a chance to change the way things are." I say defiantly, slightly provoked.
Dark Yami stared at me a moment then began to cachinnate, "Damn, your thinking is even more naive than before! Is this what you've really turned into Princess!" His words made me freeze. When he was composed he looked at me one last time. The whole left side of Dark Yami was covered in darkness, his right side in the light. Just glancing at him made my heartbeat speed up intensely, and not in a good way. I don't think I've been this scared of Yami, or just a doppelganger in my life. He extended his arms and a dark ball formed in between them. "...Die." I hugged Tora and braced myself for the dark blast and shut my eyes.
But the blast never got to me, it hit Yami instead.
My eyes shot open at loud grunting, "Yami!" It slid him back some, but he regained his stance quickly, protecting me.
"Corrine-chan!"
"Your highness! Are you alright?"
"Treyvon, Yugi." The two were at my side. When the blast suddenly stopped, Dark Yami growled.
"You always stop me, when I'm close enough to get you free." Yami ignored him. He extended his arms.
"Begone you foul being! Go back from whence you came!" That's when Yami's doppelganger-like shadow glared at him, but then started to disappear. But instead of vaporizing as one might think it would, it formed itself into a blast-like sphere and hit Yami like lightning. Yami grunts, turned into one long scream as he seemed to be absorbing ever single bit of his doppelganger. The light show was so strong we all had to shield our eyes. The next thing you know, we were waking up in our own bodies.
"Corrine, are you okay? Are you there?" Treyvon shakes me. I sit up, head feeling heavier than before.
"Mostly," I look around and don't see Yugi, "Where are they?"
"Yami? He's," He points to Yugi's room. We walk up to the doorway and see Yami eyes closed on the edge of Yugi's bed obviously extremely irritated. "It would seem Yami locked away that shadow creature back in the millennium puzzle. He said it was formed from the darkness he locked away millennia ago, and his own dark emotions, but didn't know how it escaped." Treyvon says. Yami doesn't respond.
"Why were you even in there?" I asked him. "What made you do something so reckless!? If you hadn't everything that happened just now~!"
"Yugi was the one that stole your iPad." Treyvon says, "I found it in his room yesterday. He was the one who hid it from us all this time without telling us a thing!" He saddened, "But I thought it was Yami who had done so, since I found it trapped in the box that once held the millennium puzzle. I confronted him this morning, not knowing that he wasn't involved. Each time he kept denying he knew what was up, I just assumed he was lying. I'll admit I got mad, and punched him a few times. He didn't even fight back. I guess at some point we entered the millennium puzzle, but I didn't notice because of my little fit of rage. I thought he was lyin' Corrine, but it turns out, Yami was telling the truth all along. I'm sorry."
I stayed silent for a moment, "I'm not the one you need to apologize to."
Treyvon turned to Yami, "I wrongly blamed you, Yami. Even though you're my friend, I didn't trust your words when you told me that you were innocent. I know I was wrong, and I'm sorry." Yami still didn't respond. "Rin, what should I do?"
"Leave me be for a little while. Both of you." Yami told us meditating, "All of the dark energy is not yet fully inside my being. I must control it, before it starts to cling to the "dark emotions" still lingering in my soul." He didn't even look at us when he said it. That definitely means he's still mad right? I looked at him with sad eyes but I complied to his wishes. We walked out the room, downstairs towards the door.
We screwed up, didn't we?
