Disclaimer: I do not own naruto

wow it's been years since i wrote this story. I've been so busy that i wasn't able to upload anymore. But i'm here again with these two chapters that i never uploaded. I've been struggling on how this story should continue and whether I'm going to be able to finish it ;-; But anyways, I just hope you guys enjoy the story as it progresses.

GAARA'S MANSION

She had married his enemy. The one guy he hated in all of konoha. He still couldn't grasp the truth, he refused to believe it. Despite all the threats he had made her and still. He gritted his teeth tightly as he leaned on the table. "How could she." He walked over to the living room and sat down a little too roughly on the couch, digging his nails on the side of the couch in hopes of calming his anger down a little. "Why sakura, why him?" He couldn't understand what she saw in the uchiha. All that guy had ever done was push her out of his life, Unlike himself who had tried to win her over multiple times to the point of having to act like the uchiha and not even that was enough for her to fall in love with him.

His whole life had been full of complicated and dangerous situations to which he had always found a solution. But love, it was something even more complicated to solve, especially if the other person didn't feel the same way. The only one true person that ever loved him was his mother but that was something totally different. His heart felt empty, all he wanted was for sakura to love him, to fill the emptiness in his heart. Why couldn't she love him? His hands tightened on a wine glass cup he had grabbed, breaking it to shards, but before it made contact with his skin sand encircled his hand and hardened, preventing any damage to his hand. He sighed angrily, realizing that he could get hurt mentally but never get harmed physically due to this power he had been given. To him, it was nothing but a curse that had ruined his life and would continue to do so. It was hard not to think about the past, it still haunts him every day, reminding him of the monster he had become.

FLASHBACK

"Noo!" He yelled, sitting on his bed as he tried to calm down his heavy breathing. He lifted his shaky hands, rubbing his face. It was those horrible nightmares again that came to haunt him every single night, The screams of his mother and his father's horrified facial expressions as they both got brutally murdered, it plagued his mind. He couldn't understand why men had taken him away from his family and sold him off to some crazy scientist who had experimented on him for several years. He could still feel the stinging pain of the needles, the electrical wires, and the testing tubes filled with disgusting liquids that made him feel excruciating pain. He had been lucky enough to escape one night when the scientist had forgotten to lock his cell. Once he had left, the young red haired kid took the opportunity to walk out but not before freeing the others. As he neared to his freedom He stumbled on a stack of vanilla folders filled with files of children, failed experiments. His eyes roamed the stack of folders until he spotted his file [gaara, experiment # 320 successful. Sold to Akatsuki] He wondered who those people were and what they wanted to use him for, perhaps to be a slave, a serial killer, who knew? Something told him he didn't want to find out. He had laughed dryly "I won't be sold to anyone" And left the dreadful place, having only the streets as a home. A few weeks later he was taken to an orphanage and was adopted by a family who had two children. The father seemed to hate him, so as soon as he turned 18 he decided to move out into a building that rented small apartments.

He rubbed his eyes tiredly, beads of sweat trickled down his face. His insomnia never let him sleep at night. The same nightmare would repeat over and over every night, pushing his mental state to a limit. He stood up and looked at himself in the mirror; he looked worn out, dark bags under his eyes. When was the last time he had a good night sleep? He couldn't remember. He opened the palm of his hand as small particles of sand arose in a spiral form. He was different. Ever since he left that experimental lunatic. His hands turned into a fist, they had turned him into a monster. He lost his family, his childhood, his freedom, and his emotions. What kind of world was he living in? Hot tears rolled down his face "Why me!" he yelled angrily to himself.

He couldn't spend another day like this, fearing for his life or having another sleepless night, enough was enough. He opened the door that led to a small balcony. He held onto the railings and looked down from the fifth floor building. He wanted to release himself from constant suffering. No one would miss him anyways, nobody loved him. Without hesitation he jumped off the building, feeling the cool breeze all around him. Maybe now he could finally reunite with his parents and find peace. It would finally be over. but to his misfortune sand started surrounding his body protectively, preventing him from any harm. He snarled, why wouldn't it let him die already! He landed on a tree and hit the floor as he tried forcing the sand away. His head had received quite an impact; blood started oozing out onto the concrete floor.

He heard gasps and people calling out for help. Had he finally made it? Was it finally over? By the time the ambulance arrived at the hospital he was half conscious. "Don't worry your going to be alright" smiled a girl with pink hair and green eyes that looked too young to be a medic. He had never seen anyone smile at him like that ever since his parents had died. Somehow it made him feel, happy. He didn't know who she was but for some reason her smile was the only thing he wanted to see as he lost conscious.

The sound of thunder awakened him and he sat up quickly as he glanced around the foreign room. He cursed, realizing he was still alive. He heard a knock and the pink haired medic entered with a tray of food. "Good morning, I hope you're feeling better today" she said, placing the tray on his lap.

"Where am I?" he asked, feeling the bandages that were wrapped around his head.

"Your at the hospital. Yesterday you jumped off a building." She responded with a small frown on her lips. "You shouldn't be doing reckless stuff like that you know, it's dangerous. You could have died."

He laughed dryly, looking down at the food tray. "That's exactly what I was trying to accomplish. My life is worth nothing trust me."

The medic sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at him straight in the eyes. "I spent countless years studying this profession because Everyone's life is important to me. Saving a life is worth everything." She smiled and put a comforting hand on his "that means yours is included." She stood up and headed for the door. "Besides if your trying to accomplish something do it on something worth living for. your life on this earth is not meaningless and if you feel like nobody cares about you just remember I do."

END OF FLASHBACK

That's where it all started. He had fallen in love with her in a blink of an eye. She had given him the strength and motivation to keep on living. But he felt like he had nothing to offer her. He was a nobody who barley had enough to eat. He strived to make it high in society, all for her to be proud of him and she was, but not in the way he wanted her to be. She was his purpose in life, something worth living for and now… He slammed his fist on the table. sasuke had taken her away from him just like everything he had worked hard to accomplish. The more he thought about it the angrier it made him feel. He stood up, taking out a small card out of his pocket. He had tried being a good and patient person but now things would change a bit.

A few days had passed by. naruto had completely healed, neji had apologized to him and hinata, and suigetsu and Karin had spent sleepless nights trying to find out any kind of information on naruto's new chakra powers. After the unsettling events of the past few days they needed to find some type of cure to make sure it didn't happen again.

"So your saying naruto contains a monstrous power inside that takes control of him." said the pink haired medic worriedly.

"Basically" answered Karin as she placed a few papers down for her and sasuke to see. "To make things short, According to this legend long ago, there were nine tailed chakra beasts that were placed inside children as vessels to prevent them from destroying the world. Once the person is about to die the next vessel is chosen and the cycle continues."

"But wait. Didn't you say this was a legend? Do you really think this snake guy inserted a beast inside naruto? I mean isn't there a specific ritual you must do in order to transfer it into someone else?" Asked sakura who had been reading further into the book while suigetsu talked to sasuke.

"That's a very good question you got there pinky, grinned suigetsu "but who knows maybe orochimaru didn't even need a ritual to insert a beast inside naruto. Besides that guy doesn't even know of his own past, we can't ask him any questions of his childhood.

Sakura gave him a confused look "Orochimaru? Is that the name of the guy who cursed you?"

Suigetsu laughed nervously, knowing that sasuke was probably glaring at him right about now.

"Which chakra beast was inserted in naruto?" Asked sasuke, trying to change the subject.

"The worst one" muttered suigetsu as he turned to the second page "it's called the nine tailed beast that looks like a fox. It's also one of the most powerful ones. Nobody knows exactly who or why they were created but the powers of these beasts are dangerous to all humanity, including the host itself."

Karin gave him a serious look as she gathered the pages "this means that we must prevent naruto from converting into this tailed beast at all cost until we… find a cure for this curse." she said looking briefly at sakura before leaving with suigetsu.

Sasuke sat quietly, elbows propped on the table and hands under his chin. It seemed that problems only increased day by day. Not only did he have to break his own curse, deal with gaara and the Akatsuki but now naruto had become another one.

Sakura placed a comforting hand on sasuke's shoulder "Don't worry; I'm sure we will find a cure for everyone."

Sasuke nodded slightly, knowing very well what needed to be done in order to break the curse. He felt cornered and pressured to do the one thing he had been trying to avoid all his life. He sighed, frowning. It seemed like the months were going by quicker than usual and there had been no progress made. He looked over at sakura. If only those three words could come out of her lips, half of all these problems would be over. He opened his mouth slightly but quickly closed it, regretting his thoughts. Perhaps there was another way to break this curse.

Sakura felt sasukes intense stare and immediately felt embarrassed and uncomfortable "umm, Sasuke, talking about curses" she held her hand to her face, observing it "it was him wasn't it, the priest with the really pale skin, orochimaru. He was the one who cursed you and everyone else."

The raven haired man closed his eyes for a moment and looked down at the table. there was no use in denying it. "Yes."

She stood up and leaned on the table "why didn't you tell me! We could have asked him to take the curse away."

"I already tried it and it didn't work."

She sat back down "then I'll just look for a cure, I mean there must be one."

"This is a curse not an illness." he stood up and placed the chair back in its place "I won't be home until later." He informed "If you need to go out take naruto or a guard with you."

She nodded, watching his retreating back. It seemed like he wanted to avoid being alone with her and it made her upset. She wanted to ask him where he was going but she figured it was best not to make him mad right now. She contemplated on what to do while he was gone "now that I think about it, I haven't explored this mansion much."

"Sasuke are you crazy!" Yelled naruto, causing the raven haired man to clench his jaw in irritation. " I know the Akatsuki have been sending you threat letters but you shouldn't go, what if it's a trap!" He pointed out, Watching as the raven haired man wrapped a cloak over his body. "You don't know what they're up to."

"I'm not going to sit here and do nothing."

"But it's too dangerous! At least take someone like neji or let me go with you just in case anything happens."

"No, stay here and keep an eye on sakura while I'm gone." he grabbed a pouch of what seemed like weapons and placed it around his waist. "If I don't come back, you know what to do."

Naruto sighed at the uchiha's stubbornness "you better come back alive. I'm sure sakura would go find your dead body, cry, hit you and yell at you for leaving her as a widow."

Sasuke smirked faintly, knowing she would probably do something irrational like that. He gave naruto a short nod and left without a trace.

"He never learns" grumbled naruto as he left to look for sakura.

She had explored almost half of the mansion already and had found nothing interesting only unused rooms, the kitchen and living room which she had already seen. "There must be something interesting around here." She mumbled, walking up the stairs and down the end of a lonely corridor that she had never seen until now. She turned left and let out a squeak when her face collided with a bunch of caution tape that prevented her from moving forward. Taking a few steps back she observed the almost sealed entrance that kept anyone from entering. "Why is this here?" she asked herself, squinting her eyes through the small openings of the caution tape. Could there have been a crime scene down there? Her eyes widened a bit, remembering what naruto had told her. "Itachi killed sasuke's parents" "There's no way…" She backed away, a sudden feeling of dread creeping up on her.

"Hey sakura-chan! What are you doing standing there?" The blonde asked, startling the girl to death.

She took a deep breath to calm down before answering "I was just wondering what was down there." she pointed down the hallway "and why is there caution tape all around the entrance? Last time I checked they only used those for crime scenes."

The blonde bit his tongue, not knowing whether or not to tell her about it or just invent something up. He knew for a fact she would end up wondering in there and sasuke would be very angry if he found out. "Well you see…"

"That's the west room" smiled Sai "no one is to step a foot in there."

naruto's jaw dropped to the floor " well, so much for keeping that a secret" he muttered under his breath.

Sakura's eyebrows scrunched up "The west room? Why? What's in there?" she asked curiously.

"Sasuke prohibited everyone to go there becu- ofh!"

Naruto's eye twitched, elbowing sai in the gut before he said anything else "what sai means is that no one is allowed to set foot in that scary place because it's boring, dusty and is probably 99% haunted. "If you want I can show you something way cooler like, umm…. the library."

Her eyes lit up with excitement "sasuke has a library?! Where is it?"

"Yeah, It's on the third floor, come on" he grabbed her hand and led her away from the creepy hallway that he hoped she would never go in "you should see how big the library is there are hundreds of books you can read."

"Millions" added sai, walking behind the two with a big smile on his face.

They made their way upstairs and down a long hallway filled with huge windows that were covered with long crimson red curtains. "This place is dark" she whispered to herself, looking at a few candle sticks that barley lit up the place. Her attention went back to naruto who muttered angrily at sai to which he only smiled and whispered apologies. She frowned, knowing they were talking about that hallway. She wanted to know what was there, curiosity always got the best of her and sometimes she hated it. But it wouldn't harm anyone if she took a peek, besides no one had to know she was going to be there or that she ever was. If itachi's room was there then he probably left some type of clue on why he had killed his parents.

"Sakura, sakura!" she looked up at naruto who was calling her. "I've been calling you a few times and you didn't answer."

"Have you?" She smiled sheepishly "sorry, what where you telling me?"

He frowned "You've been going off into space a lot lately are you ok?"

She nodded "I'm fine, just a little excited to see this library, you know I love to gain knowledge."

"Hey naruto, sai!" the boys turned around to see tenten waving at them "I need help cleaning the pool could you please help me before it gets dark."

Naruto glanced at sakura. He knew he shouldn't leave her alone after she had found the west room "what about neji?"

Tenten frowned "he left with shikamaru a few hours ago…"

So they had gone after sasuke. Naruto gave her a knowing look. He turned to look at the pink haired girl "the library is a few feet down there" pointed the blonde "it has the biggest door you will ever see "I'll be back to see how your doing in a few hours."

"Yeah, yeah don't worry," she waved him off and watched as they left. She looked down the hallway where the library was supposed to be but she had a different place to go to.

He had been running for almost an hour, yet it felt like minutes to him. Somehow this chakra inside of his body overflowed with energy which kept him from feeling tired. He stopped to get a sip of water and took a few seconds to observe his surroundings. He was almost there; he could sense it somehow….

Sakura stood in front of the west room corridor, looking around to make sure nobody had seen her. Once she was positive there was no one in sight, she gripped the caution tape and stretched it upwards and downwards, lowering her head so she could go over it. "Great there's no lights out here" she realized, taking out her cellphone and turning on the flashlight button, which was going to be good enough to only let her see a few feet away. "I can't believe I'm doing this" she muttered, shivering unconsciously as she looked down the dark hallway that reminded her of a horror scene movie. "I'll just take a quick look and leave." She walked into the first room that contained nothing but dusty furniture and unused items. She closed the door and walked down a little further, entering the second one, nothing. Maybe all the other rooms were all the same? She took a few steps to the next room and jumped when the sound of thunder reached her ears, causing her to accidentally knock off a picture frame. She placed a hand on her rapidly beating heart "Great" she breathed out. At this rate everyone would find out she was up here with all the noise she was making. She bent down to pick up the frame and as she did a small key fell down to the floor. "A key?" she reached out and grabbed it but not before noticing what was on the floor, dried blood. She gulped and stood up quickly, slowly following the trail of blood with her flashlight that led to the next room.

The grey skies were darkening above him and the sound of thunder was a sign that rain was soon to fall. He halted, knowing someone had been following him. "Come out" he commanded, looking over his shoulder.

The rustling of leaves could be heard and two figures came out of the bushes. "And I thought we could pull this off without you noticing us, but I guess not." Sighed shikamaru, pulling out a leaf from his hair. "What a drag."

Sasuke turned around to fully face them "why are you two here."

"It's obvious isn't it?" responded neji who had more than one leaf stuck in his hair. "You should have known we wouldn't let you meet the Akatsuki alone. Who's going to break this curse if you die? I don't plan on living like this forever."

Sasuke knew the danger that laid ahead. The Akatsuki were unpredictable and vengeful, the possibilities of them getting hurt was high. But he knew they would end up following him anyways, there was no use in arguing with them to return. "Let's get this over with." He turned around and led the way.

She stood there, frozen in spot, wishing she had unseen what was in front of her. The room she had entered looked like a crime scene. The bed covers and the floor were splattered with dried blood, broken vases, mirrors, and ripped curtains. She felt nauseous just thinking about what could have happened. Without a second thought she exited the room in a rush. "I can't do this anymore." she told herself, taking her hand away from the door. Just as she was about to leave she heard a creaking noise, causing her to quickly turn round. It definitely came from one of the last rooms. Her heart started racing as she quietly walked over to where the door was half opened. "Calm down sakura I'm sure it's not a ghost." She slowly opened the door and almost jumped out of her skin when something rubbed on her feet and meowed. She looked down to see a black cat with green eyes. "You almost scared me to death!" she crouched down and patted the cats head as it purred "how did you get in there?" she asked, standing up and entering the black room. "It's so dark in here." She turned on her cellphones flashlight and looked around. It looked like any teenage boys room a bed, dresser, video games, and a shelf with books. A dusty portrait that hung near the closet door caught her eyes. she dusted it a bit, coughing as the dust particulars filled the air. She observed it, recognizing three of the people in it, sasuke, mikoto and itachi. the older man must have been his father. They all seemed serious but happy. She wondered what could have drove itachi to kill his parents. What was the real reason behind all this?

The black cat that had scared sakura meowed, as it scratched the closet wall. "What are you meowing at?" She slide the dusty cloths aside to see what was behind it. "A hidden door?" She tried to open it but it seemed to be locked. "Of course the key!" she took it out of her pocket and inserted it. once it clicked she opened it and stepped inside, hoping it wasn't as scary as the other room. A faint Light automatically flickered on and she covered her mouth as she read what was written on the wall with red paint, or at least she thought it was. it read "I had no choice" smeared in big letters. She averted her gaze and looked around. The left side of the wall was filled with sharp weapons that were covered in blood stains and cobwebs. There was also a small closet filled with cloaks and dark clothing fit for murderers. Her eyes focused on the brick walls that contained a weird color pattern, few of those bricks were a blue color. her fingers ran across the rough bumpy brick walls and to her surprise she felt a smooth one "that's strange" she pressed on the blue colored brick and it slowly opened. Inside there was a letter that was addressed to sasuke. She decided not to read it, knowing it probably contained personal information. She held it gently, afraid that it would crumble into a pile of dust due to how long it must have been there. "Sasuke has to read this." She walked over to a nearby bookshelf and pulled out a book that contained photos of wanted people x's for those who she supposed were now murdered. She gulped "I really shouldn't be here" she felt compelled to flip a few more pages and stopped when a familiar face was shown. Her eyes widened "sasuke!"

Night had fallen and sasuke carried a wounded and unconscious neji on his back, followed by an injured shikamaru.

The meeting with the Akatsuki had been just as he had thought it would be, uncivilized.

"We're almost there" said shikamaru, holding on to his injured stomach. The Akatsuki had wanted to test his fighting ability which he knew was a lie. What they really wanted was to find out if they had chakra. of course they denied it but they didn't belive them. they sure had fun beating him and the guys as much as they could. But they had to resist without having to use there chakra. Troublesome.

Tenten walked back and forth, worried of what could happen to the guys especially neji.

Ino who sat on the living room couch next to hinata sighed "Tenten can you please sit down your making me dizzy. I know your worried about neji but we have to keep calm, just in case sakura appears she can't see how nervous we are."

"Maybe reading a book could calm you down a bit" suggested sai who smiled and went back to his sketching.

Naruto leaned on the wall with his arms crossed. just thinking about what the Akatsuki would want of sasuke. He had a pretty good idea on what they wanted but hoped it was just him assuming things.

The door of the mansion swung open, scaring the living daylights out of everyone.

"We're back" reported shikamaru tiredly. Ino ran up to him and smacked his shoulder to which he flinched "what was that for! You should be healing me not trying to kill me"

"Why did you let them hurt you, idiot" she scolded, looking down at his injured stomach "now go sit so I can heal you" she demanded, pointing to the direction of the couch.

"Troublesome woman" he mumbled, making his way over to the couch were tenten and hinata were helping the unconscious neji.

"Where's sakura" asked the raven haired man as he glanced around and she was nowhere in sight.

"She should be in the library" said naruto, scratching the side of his chin as if barley recalling he had left her there.

Amy walked into the living room with a grin on her face "well let me inform you that she isn't there" she walked up to sasuke, made a worried face and placed her hands on his shoulder "I tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen to me!"

He grabbed her wrists, intimidating her with his look "where… Is she."

"sh- she's in the west room." Everyone tensed as those words came out of her mouth. Sasuke let go of her wrists and left without saying a word.

"Sasuke wait!" yelled naruto, running after him but giving up once he ran out of breath "she didn't know! He managed to shout, watching as he disappeared around the corner. "This won't end well" he breathed out, holding his knees for support.

What will happen next?! O_O to be continued….
