(Liu's POV)
"Are you, um, feeling any better?" (Y/n) asked absent-mindedly twirling a strand of (h/c) around her finger.
She wouldn't look me in the eye ever since she hurt me during the fight. And it is almost time for Jeff to come home. Which reminds me, I only have one more day alone with (y/n).
"Yeah. It still hurts, but I'll live." I said glancing down at my still blood soaked shirt.
I glanced over at (y/n). Her shirt was caked in dry blood–my blood, I realized– and she stared sadly at the ground. I smiled, the ghost of a frown still lingering over my features.
"Hey," I said cupping her face in my hands and making her turn to face me, "it's okay. Look at me, I'm fine." I said hoping that my smile was somehow comforting.
Tears rimmed her big (e/c) eyes and I wondered if it was what I had said that set her off. I opened my mouth to apologize when she interrupted my with a small "hic," sort of sound.
"I'm a monster. I hurt Jeff, I nearly killed Riley. And now, I hurt you. I can't be around anyone. If they fight me, and they set me off, I'll kill them." She said staring at her hands, her eyes wide with horror.
I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her head close to my chest so she could hear my heart. I blushed furiously but exhaled into her hair and smiled into it.
"Then whoever sets you off is the monster. Not you. Listen to me, if you were good enough to melt the cold hearts of two infamous killers, then you're no monster." I said, sighing into her (h/c) hair that gave off the sweet scent of lavender.
"Thanks, Liu. You know, you're not as heartless as you act." She said separating from me and wiping a few stray tears from her cheeks.
I smiled and leaned in on instinct. I got about a few inches away before I stopped myself and made a reminder that she was taken by none other than my younger brother.
"Liu stop," (y/n) breathed, laying her hands on my chest gently, "this is wrong. I love Jeff."
"Jeff," I breathed back, feeling (y/n)'s breath warm on my lips, "he doesn't have to know."
At that, I grabbed her and pulled her towards me. She gasped against my lips and slapped me. I immediately felt the sting of (y/n)'s hand on my cheek and drew back away from her, cradling my cheek. She looked more embarrassed than angry but still. I felt hot where her hand was and my breathing became hitched and heavy.
"I. Said. No." (Y/n) said moving far away from me.
"I'm sorry, it was in the heat of the moment. I swear I didn't mean to." I said, sincerely meaning what I had just said, though I didn't regret one thing.
"Fine whatever. Just leave me alone for a few minutes." (Y/n) said harshly.
I felt a pang of guilt in my chest before nodding curtly and turning on my heel to leave the room. I was almost at the door when I heard a knock at the front door. I turned back around and went to go answer it since (y/n) was still sitting on the couch, her arms crossed defiantly across her chest. I opened the door and found, not much to my surprise, the little skank Riley.
"Hey," she said, "this is pretty serious stuff. (Y/n) has to see this." She said, sounding genuinely concerned for (y/n), though the ghost of a smile still lingered on her blood-red lips.
"What is it, Riley?" (Y/n) asked coming to the door and frowning at Riley.
"Oh don't look at me like that," Riley complained as she pouted her lips, "it's about Jeff."
(Y/n) glanced up at me worriedly before I invited Riley in.
(Your POV)
Riley, Liu and I went into the kitchen. Liu and I sat on one side and Riley sat across from us. She was wearing some really tight red jeans and a jet-black tank top. A dusty-brown bag was slung over her shoulder before she put it on the table.
"This," she said pulling out a huge crystal ball, "is a looking-glass. You can see what your darling Jeff has been up to since he left."
I'll admit, the thought seemed a bit tempting, but I felt as if I owed Jeff more than that. I shook my head no and both Liu and Riley looked up at me in shock.
"The idea is intriguing. But I respect Jeff enough to give him privacy." I said, glancing once more at the ball.
"You see, that's the thing. I respect it too, but I took a small peek and could not believe what I saw. Despite the fact that we might be enemies, a girl has to report a cheater to another girl." Riley said looking at her reflection in the ball.
My breath caught in my throat and my chest seized up, "cheater?" I asked, awestruck.
"I can't explain," Riley said poking the crystal ball, it opened up to an image and she said, "you better just watch."
Liu and I leaned into it and focused on the images before us. I could not believe my eyes.
(In the crystal ball)
"So what's your name?" Jeff asked, scratching at the back of his neck.
"Harley." A blond girl with big brown eyes replied, smiling shyly up at him.
Jeff opened his mouth to say something, when the girl interrupted him, her demeanor changing into something more seductive.
"I'm going to be blunt with you. I like you and I want you for myself." She said, pointing her finger at Jeff's chest.
Jeff scooted away from her, "um, no. You see, about that. I already have a girlfriend so..."
"Do I look like I care? Come on kiss me." She said, her eyes flashing a bright purple after she said that.
A wide, dumb grin spread across Jeff's face as he nodded. They leaned into each other and–
(Your POV)
–I turned away from the looking-glass. Even if I were to watch the rest, my vision was too blurred by the tears that threatened to spill over my cheeks. How many times am I going to cry today? Riley sighed and put the looking-glass back into her bag.
"Listen, honey. For what it's worth, I'm sorry." She said, her eyes caught mine for a split second before looking away from me.
My breath hitched and Liu wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
"I'll be going now. I have places to be, people to bother, things to rob." Riley said with a wicked smile.
"Riley wait." I said laying my hand on her shoulder, I gave her a weak smile, causing her to flinch, "thanks. I mean it."
Her expression softened for a second and she looked at her, "take care of her, dude. She needs the help." With that, she was out the door.
I collapsed onto the couch and sobbed into one of the pillows there.
"Listen, I'm–"
"It's okay. I'm just going to have to talk to him tomorrow." I said, my breathing coming out in hiccups.
Liu wrapped his arms around me, strong and comforting. He was soon asleep and I was falling asleep as well. I guess my mind must have been too tired to dream, because that night, there was only sleep.
I'm sooo sorry to say this, but there's only 4 more chapters left! I love you all for the support and will put the next one once I get 278 comments. Thanks so much! Love you all~
