Very happy lots you loved the last chapter, but I'm afraid this chapter is going to be a sad one for poor Angelique and others who love Cedric. It will be extended to where Angelique returns and some secrets are revealed, so it is a long one as I'm sure you'd love.
Expect a little drama after Angelique gets back to the stadium, but as I said in the last chapter it's starting off where Charlie returns with Cedric's body and everyone realizes something's not right.
Written with the help of my sister author AnnaBoleyna1536, and we don't own Harry Potter.
Enjoy!
Hogwarts stadium:
"Umf!" Charlie Potter landed smack dab in the middle of the Quidditch pitch with Cedric's body, and though he could hear the cries of joy and mostly boos from the audience he looked around for Dumbledore. Soon enough people started screaming in horror when they saw Cedric's eyes, blanked and dulled over with no light left.
"Charlie, my boy what…?" Charlie stood up and grabbed at the man.
"He's back! He's back!" he started shouting.
"Charlie!" Remus and Abbey ran up to him with his parents and Sirius. "What's going on, where's Angelique?" everyone began to go silent, apparently wanting the same answer.
"Voldemort…he's back!" Charlie had tears of fear running down his face. "He's back, it was a trap. He jinxed the cup to get us to a graveyard, but he…" he started breathing heavily, suddenly remembering and realizing what had gone down.
"What son?" James got closer.
"He killed Cedric, but he didn't come for me…" he looked up to Dumbledore. "He has Angelique!"
"Angie!" Abbey screamed in horror. "Remus…"
"We have to save her." Remus looked to the others around them.
"Don't be ridiculous, the Dark Lord can't be back…" Fudge wasn't listening. "He just can't be…"
"He is back! He's got Angelique and he's going to kill us all!" Charlie looked back at the cup for a moment before someone's voice tore his gaze from it.
"Charlie what did you do?" Sirius stepped forward with a suspicious look on his face.
"I took the cup and left…" his godfather's eyes grew in anger.
"You left her there?! How could you?!" Abbey was crying now.
"NO! She told me to take it and go! She told me to get back here." No one seemed to believe him, except James and Lily.
"LIAR!" several people cried out.
"He's lying! I'll be he left her there to save his own skin!" some Slytherins pointed at him. Snape looked mad as well, almost like he would hex Charlie.
"How could you just leave her there?" Abbey shrieked in anger.
"NO! It's the truth! Wormtail was there, he had this bundle in his arms and he…he tied up Angelique. She told me to run, and I did."
"Charlie wait a minute…" Dumbledore made everyone shut up. "He has your sister, but why?"
"I don't know, I'm his enemy he should've…"
"Hold on!" Abbey shouted and everyone went silent. "I know what to do." She reached into her bag and pulled out a mirror, and old one.
"Abigail where did you get that?" James sounded angry.
"Angie gave it to me." she brushed off the mirror's surface. "She said it has magic in it." she held it up. "Show us my sister Angelique!" the mirror's surface glowed brightly, and it grew huge to where everyone in the stadium could see it. "There she is!" they saw Angelique tied up against a headstone, with her dark eyes glaring hatefully at everyone's greatest horror, a newly resurrected Voldemort.
"Hello sweet Angelique." They heard him say, and that's where it began.
Back in the graveyard:
"You know me?" Angelique kept her glare up.
"Oh yes, I do." The man was pale, sickly pale you could see the veins in his head. His eyes were blood red, like a monster's and he truly was/is a monster. "I could never forget the child that made me lose my powers, that night in Godric's Hollow."
"My lord…" Voldemort turned around to Pettigrew, holding out his good arm which made Angelique clearly see the Dark Mark on his forearm.
"Ah yes, the others will want to join us. Give me my wand." Voldemort's wand was handed to him, and he placed the tip of it at the base of the mark. It moved and went solid black, and the clouds above began to form a skull's head. Out of the mouth came several smoky shots and they landed in a circle around the area.
When the smoke cleared away Angelique could see them all dressed in long black robes, wearing masks to hide their faces. Some had a cane; others held their wands out and bowed down to kiss the robes of their master.
"Rise my friends." They did so, back into a circle as before. "It's been thirteen years since we last met, and you all stand before me tonight as if it were only yesterday. I must admit that I am very…disappointed." Angelique saw some of them flinch. "In all this time, none of you tried to find me."
'What's there to miss?'
"My lord, we wanted to find you but none of us had seen the signs. We have never renounced the old ways, and the faces we show each and every day since you were gone are our true masks." A tall one spoke up, but Angelique didn't know the voice.
"As much as I'd like to believe that my dear McNair, I cannot; crucio!" the man fell to the ground writhing in pain. He bit his lip to prevent the screams from coming out, but it wouldn't doing much good if he bit through his lip. Voldemort tortured the man for several seconds, and then stopped when he turned to Angelique.
'Here we go.'
"Here she is everyone, Angelique Dorea Potter…the Girl Who Lived." He slowly approached her. "Instead of that weakling twin of hers, Charlus I believe is his name. How everyone has been sorely mistaken that a spoiled little whelp like him could possibly be my enemy, when it was you who defeated me dear Angelique."
"Well at least you aren't as blind as most others."
"No I am not my dear, in fact…that night in Godric's Hollow when I came into your nursery, I could see there was something different about you. Something I couldn't quite see, and yet I thought nothing of it when I tried to kill you. That was my mistake…"
"My lord, please…" Pettigrew tried to talk but winced at the pain from his severed wrist.
"Oh yes, your reward Wormtail." Voldemort waved his wand over the bloody bone and in the place of Wormtail's old hand a silver one formed.
"Oh thank you, master. Thank you."
"Pathetic…" Angelique whispered, but no one heard her.
"Now back to you Angelique, ah yes that night. I could see that you weren't like most other magical children, despite your parentage, you have such a powerful core inside your body. When I tried to kill you, something odd happened. The curse merely flowed around you, and before it hit me it left a mark." He used his wand to move her bangs out of her face, revealing the scar. "So obvious, and yet everyone believes your brother is the one."
"They're wrong, they've always been wrong."
"Yes they have, and you knew all along. Your parents have neglected you over the years, and here you are now." She gave a light smirk.
"Parents? I have no parents." All the men gasped. "I denounced James and Lily Potter as family years ago; I only made it official sometime after." He probably already knew that.
"I must say that's a large step, but I can't blame you. Having an arrogant bastard like James Potter for a father, and a shrew mudblood like Lily Potter for a mother, you could have much better."
"Hmph."
"My spies have told me a lot about you, how strong and how intelligent you really are. Those very things can get you so far in life…"
"What're you getting at?" she was annoyed now. "I don't necessarily require lectures to get myself ready to fight."
"Fight my dear?"
"We're enemies aren't we? You fight me I fight you, until one of us is down and surrender or winds up dead. Yet it's going to be a bit difficult if I'm tied up, so…" using her wandless abilities Angelique made the ropes around her break loose. She stood up and summoned her wand.
"My lord, this girl is quite spirited isn't she?" one of the men sniggered.
"Indeed she is, which is why she will make a fine queen for me." Angelique froze on the spot.
"Queen?" Voldemort smiled, not a nice one though.
"Yes, you see Angelique you and I are one in the same. We both come from families who cared nothing for us, unloved, unwanted, and hated by those who fear us because we're powerful. James and Lily left you alone many times, you and your kid sister, even the man who's supposed to be your godfather, Sirius Black, abandoned you because they favored your brother. I am offering you a place at my side, where you will be treasured and held high above all others who deem themselves your superiors."
Angelique said nothing, and though she heard his words the first one he had said made her have a flashback she hadn't looked back on, when Bags came after her. Her face went blank, and it came back as if it were still fresh on her mind.
Flashback:
"LET GO OF ME!" Bags had his hand on her chest, and held her hands above her head with his other.
"So soft…so round." he moved his hand under her skirt. "Oh…my treasure…"
"GET OFF ME!"
End flashback
"Well Angelique?" she was so caught up in the memory Angelique didn't hear Voldemort come close to her. "Will you accept my offer?" his hand reached out to touch her shoulder, and when it did she jumped back.
"FILTHY CREEP!" she threw a powerful hex his way, but he deflected it. Angelique was so angry her focus was out.
"Oh my…it seems she needs some persuasion." Voldemort looked back to his group of death eaters and they all laughed with him. "Very well, we shall see exactly how powerful the Girl-Who-Lived really is."
"Bring it." Angelique snarled and the fight began. "Expelliarmus!"
"Confringo!" she dodged that spell.
"Expulso!" Voldemort deflected the spell but it ended up hitting one of the death eaters and his leg burst. It wasn't blown off, but it left a nasty gash. "Incendio!" that time he was grazed by the flames from Angelique's wand, but only slightly.
"I'll be…milord she is a feisty one." A death eater chuckled darkly.
"Indeed so, but those spells aren't so easily performed by most witches and wizards her age. They take a lot of emotion to fire, and she's shown a lot. Well now Angelique, it's time for you to come with me." he tried to tie her up with the Incarcerous curse, but she managed to send it flying back at Wormtail.
"No you don't!" Angelique held up one hand high in the air. "Book of Merlin, come and aid your master!" a bright glow appeared above her hand, and the book appeared in her palm. It flipped a few pages, and it glowed on the page it stopped at.
"That book…" Voldemort's red eyes widened in surprise, and the Death Eaters froze at the sight of it.
"I will never join you!" Angelique tapped the page of the book and she could see the Quidditch stadium. "Lanuae Magicae!" in a rush of light sprang from the book and Angelique felt herself being pulled into the book. Seconds later she ended up falling straight into the ground, but bumped her head. Her wand and book were in her arms, and the last thing she heard before going unconscious was Abbey calling out to her.
Hogwarts Hospital Wing:
"It can't be true!" James Potter near-shouted at the top of his lungs. "How can she be the one? She's not that strong!"
"James stop it, you and I both saw and heard the same thing. We were wrong; Charlie isn't the boy who lived…"
"It's all lies!" James was throwing a childish tantrum, one of his many special yet annoying talents. "Charlie did everything first! He walked, crawled, and he even did magic first!"
"That doesn't mean anything Potter, and lower your voice my apprentice is trying to rest." Everyone, the Potters and their children, plus Severus, Dumbledore, Remus, Tonks, Fudge, Sirius, and Moody were all gathered inside the wing close to Charlie and Angelique's beds. Charlie was awake with a few bandages on his face, but Angelique was still unconscious.
Everyone was in shock from what they'd heard out of Voldemort's mouth. His return, revealing Angelique as the real child who lived, and he wanted her for his wife. Viktor and Fleur were with their home groups, still healing from the maze's effects, but they too were stunned at the news. Charlie was in shock as well, he'd kept quiet ever since the mirror showed it all.
"He's right James." Dumbledore sighed. "We all saw what happened, thanks to Ms. Abigail here. We were wrong about young Charlie; he's not the one who must defeat Voldemort."
"It's true." Abbey spoke up. "Angie's always known it was her, but she didn't want the fame and she sure as hell didn't want to end up spoiled and rotten to the core like you Charlie!" Abbey was still angry at her brother, but she was more upset that now Angelique's name was going to be all over the papers by morning, and that she'd be targeted by not just Voldemort but likely the Ministry as well.
"Abigail watch your language!" Lily scolded her daughter.
"Enough!" Poppy came in from her office. "Unless you all tone down your voices and let my patient rest I will have to ask you all to leave." She went to blot a wet rag over Angelique's forehead, which had the scar revealed.
"I can't believe we didn't see this sooner…" Sirius rubbed his eyes. "All along it was her, it was so obvious!" he punched a wall.
"Sirius that's enough, you're going to…"
"SHUT UP MOONY!" Sirius glared angrily at everyone he could see. "We should've known this would happen! And you knew it would didn't you?" Remus nodded.
"I did, but I didn't say anything because frankly none of you would've believed me. Angelique didn't want to let it out in the open yet."
"Oh well that makes me feel much better doesn't it?"
"Mr. Black that is quite enough! You're going to wake my patient…"
"Uuuggghhh…" everyone's heads turned to Angelique's bed, her eyes were moving under her eyelids. She moved a little, and then her hands went up to her eyes to rub them.
"Angie…?" Abbey went to her sister's side and moved some hair from her face.
"Abbey, where…?" Angelique looked around and seemed to recognize where she was. She slowly sat up and saw everyone's worried and angered faces looking at her. "What's going on?"
"Angelique, you're in the hospital wing. Do you remember what happened?" Severus walked up to her bed. She took a moment to collect her thoughts and then nodded.
"Yes, he's returned…"
"We know." Abbey said. "I saw it in the mirror you gave me, and I made it bigger so everyone else could see it. They know now, he's come back and they know you're the one who has to kill him." Angelique's eyes closed for a second, and then she made eye contact with Dumbledore.
"You know now?" the old man sighed.
"Everyone in the stadium now knows, and soon enough the story will hit the papers in the morning. Angelique why didn't you say anything?"
"That's not important, now that everyone knows the truth I would advise the Minister to…" when she turned to look at Fudge she saw he had her book in his hands. "What are you doing with that?" he looked down at the book and back to her.
"It's a part of magical history Ms. Potter; therefore I'm going to place it in a case at the Ministry."
"You can't do that Minister, that book belongs to Angelique." Severus turned to him. "True it belonged to Merlin, but the book has chosen Angelique as his heir therefore she has to keep it."
"I'm afraid I can't do that Snape, it's an artifact and it must be…"
"Book of Merlin, return to your master's hand." The book disappeared from Fudge's hands in a second and reappeared in Angelique's. "That settles it then, it stays with me." she held it tight to her.
"Ms. Potter give that here…"
"Cornelius if you've read the legend then you will know that no matter where you take that book its magic will always find its way back to the heir. Now…Angelique is there anything you'd like to ask?" Angelique nodded.
"Where's Cedric?" she looked around for him, expecting to see him in another bed but all the others were empty. Abbey looked at Angelique with a look of sorrow, and everyone else seemed sad, except James of course. "What's going on?"
"Angie don't you remember?" Abbey touched her hand.
"Remember what? Abbey…?"
"Angelique." Severus touched her other hand. "Mr. Diggory is gone." Angelique stiffened. "He was hit with the killing curse, so he didn't suffer." Angelique went quiet, and then slowly pushed the covers off her body.
"Where is he?" she looked all around. "Where is he?"
"His body is in the next room Ms. Potter, but you can see him when…" Poppy didn't get to finish as Angelique ripped her way through the group and ran out the door. "Ms. Potter!"
"Angelique!" Severus and Abbey ran after her along with Remus and the others. When they got into the next room Angelique was standing directly in front of the table that had Cedric's body on it. Mr. and Mrs. Diggory were in there as well, and they moved aside so Angelique could see their son.
"Ced…Cedric…?" she slowly approached the corpse, reaching out to touch him. His face was peaceful, and his eyes were closed. "Cedric, you can't be gone…you can't leave me…"
"Angie…?" Abbey went to approach her sister, but Severus held her back.
"Not now." They watched as Angelique stood over the body, and then they saw her shake. They heard whimpering, and when Angelique turned around to them they saw her face was getting streaked with tears.
"W-What…?" she touched her cheek, and saw the tears on her fingertips. "What is this?" she took in a sharp breath. "What's this feeling?" more tears began to fall.
"Angie you're crying." Abbey hadn't ever seen Angelique cry, not once.
"No…no I can't be crying! I never cry…" she felt her face again.
"Cubby it's alright to cry." Remus tried to touch her but Angelique shook her head hard.
"NO! I haven't cried since my fourth birthday. I didn't cry when Charlie almost ripped my hair out, I didn't cry when James threw me down the stairs, and I didn't cry or even shed tears when Bags tried to rape me! I DON'T CRY!" she started to shake more, and then collapsed onto her knees sobbing into her hands. Severus walked over to her and pulled her into his arms, lifting her up he carried her over to Remus.
"Take her into my office, take Abigail with you." Remus nodded and left with Abbey down the hall. Lily's face was stretched in horror, but why?
"Raped…my baby was raped?" she looked at Severus.
"Your baby, you mean you actually acknowledge her as your child now Lily?" Severus sneered at her.
"Severus please, not here." Dumbledore motioned for everyone to get back into the hospital wing, and then he sighed. "Severus, what Angelique said back there about being raped, what did she mean?" Severus didn't want to say, but he couldn't hide it now.
"It was the summer I went to get her, the evening before we left the next day. Angelique was happy to accept my offer as my apprentice, and so she went to play her music. Her music teacher Arnold Bags, he was an undercover death eater and was told to keep an eye on her. He cornered her in the music room, and he got his hands into her underwear." everyone gasped.
"Oh my baby…" Lily began to cry.
"He didn't get to go any further, because Angelique's magic reacted and flung him so hard into the wall his skull cracked. He was killed instantly, but Angelique asked that no one say a word of it, and no one has until now." Everyone was shocked, especially Charlie and Sirius.
"That poor girl, no wonder she's so strong." Tonks sighed. "All she's gone through…"
"Angelique is a vexing young woman, but the one thing that disturbs me the most is that she doesn't understand fear or pain. Though now I think she understands the pain of heartbreak, but when she stood up to the Dark Lord she's not afraid of anything."
"James…" Lily turned around to her husband. "I heard Angelique say you threw her down the stairs, what did she mean by that?"
"I didn't touch her!" Lily slowly approached him.
"Did you hurt her? Why did you hurt her?" James tried to look innocent but Lily reached back and slapped him across the jaw. "You monster, our daughter! How could you?"
"She deserved it…she was trying to disgrace Charlie as she is now."
"She was a child James! You had no right to hurt her like that!"
"Well so what? She's a disgrace to the Potter family name Lily what do you want me to do?" Lily took a sharp intake of breath, and shook slightly before standing her ground and facing her husband.
"I want a divorce."
Sorry about the cliffhanger again, but the next chapter will be up and hopefully it'll make up for it. Angelique has cried for the first time in years, and now she understands the pain of heartbreak.
Next chapter will have Cedric's funeral, and a bit more of Angelique's personality changing slightly since she's lost not just her boyfriend but a good friend as well. Might have the Weasleys show up, and a slight time skip to where Angelique stays with Remus during the summer or I might save that for the chapter after.
