A WORD FROM CSP:
Welcome back, 3 people who read this! I'm really sorry that it's been so long. I've been really busy lately and haven't had much time but my conscience has been weighing down on me so here it is! This is the start of an arc called 'Sorrow'. Each chapter will start with a line from the song called Sorrow by The National's and the chapter will be based around that line. Let's start!
Star-Crossed Chapter 21
"Sorrow found me when I was young…"
"Ugh, can't believe I messed that up," I murmured to myself.
I was trying to forget about the absolute chaos I caused between Olivia and me. It was after the winter party, at around about 5. I searched all around for Olivia before I realized that she would already home. I went to call her, but I knew she wouldn't pick up. It was all my fault… all my fault. The winter fog was surrounding me, thick and heavy.
"Heh… Looks like you messed up," a familiar voice sneered.
I groaned and turned around. This kid… I thought he'd never return…
"God, she was REALLY crying, I feel really sorry for her. Whoever caused that must've be a real jerk. Lucky I was there to help her." My arch-nemesis, Ben, chuckled.
"Shut your face, Ben," I snarled, "I may have made a mistake, but I sure as hell know that you're still beneath me, you insolent prick."
"Wow, guess you're still holding a grudge, hey? Classic you, never able to let anything go." Ben shook his head.
"Maybe if you had CHANGED, I WOULDN'T!" I yelled at him.
I was furious.
"Heh… sure. Well, See you around," He smirked as he walked away, slowly disappearing into the fog.
I should have told them everything… Should have accepted it.
/FLASHBACK/
10 year old Atticus was writing a new story, something about secret agents on the school computer. Ben is in the seat across the aisle. Ben looks over Atti's shoulder and laughs.
"Secret agents? What are you, eight?" he says between laughs.
"Secret agents are cool though…" Atticus replies timidly.
"Don't you know that everyone likes soccer stories, not secret agent stories?" Ben says again in a mocking tone.
"I want to bring back secret agents," Atti beams, "I don't really like soccer stories."
Ben exclaimed, "You don't like soccer stories? You're so lame! Atticus the Lame-o person."
Atticus said nothing else, he logged off the computer and went to the toilet to cry.
/
The thick fog turned into rain, fast. I looked up at the black clouds, letting the rain drench me. I don't care anymore. I let the rain try wash away everything bad, but it doesn't work. Instead, I remember the main reason I utterly hate Ben.
/FLASHBACK/
It's been two years since the 'secret agent vs. soccer' incident. A twelve-year-old Atticus puts his heart on the line for the first time.
"Lucy… I like you."
The girl named Lucy blushes intensely, but smiles.
"Atti… I li-"
Her reply was cut off by footsteps running, splashing in puddles.
"Lucy!"
Lucy turned around as Ben ran towards them, Atticus eyeing him suspiciously.
"Sorry, Atti, I know you're her friend and all but I have to interrupt you," Ben says, each word between breaths.
He doesn't say anything else to Lucy, he just kisses her. Atticus becomes startled and angry and runs off.
"Atti! Wait!"
He hears Lucy's cry from behind him. He doesn't look back, tears streaming down his face.

I arrived home and ran to my room.
"Hey, son. How was the party?" Dad said, I ignored him.
Ivy was in my room, "Big bro, where are your scissors?" she asked.
"Get out, Ivy!" I said to her.
She puffed out her cheeks and stormed out, "Meanie!"
I opened drawers and mumbled "Where did I put it? Ah, here it is…"
I pulled out a photo album and flicked through it. I looked at pictures of my Pokémon, stopping at Forretress. I remember…
/FLASHBACK/
It's Atticus and Ben's first battle, both are down to one. Ben sent out Flareon and Atticus sent out Forretress. In the small crowd that gathered, Lucy is watching intently and nervously.
"Flareon, use flamethrower!" Ben cries as Flareon uses the move.
Critical hit! Atti thinks hard, Lucy getting even more nervous.
"Forretress use explosion." Forretress obeys, both Pokémon faint.
The field is quiet as both battlers return their Pokémon, both look at the temporary referee as he thinks for a while.
"The winner is Atticus Stone!"
Half of the crowd cheer and the crowd disperses. Lucy stands there as the rivals stare each other down.
"Um…" She says, breaking the silence.
"You know that battle proves nothing," Ben says, walking up to Lucy, "Shall we go?"
Lucy nods quietly, still looking at Atticus.
"Sorry Atti…" she mumbles as she follows Ben, hand in his.

A single tear rolls down my face.
"I won't let it happen again…."
