From The Chonicles of Kyou
In the Fall of the Fifty-Sixth Year of Kantei, the Reign of the King Meishuu, the Taiho Kyouki fell grievously ill with Shitsudou. The King brought his Armies upon the People, quashing Sentiments of Unrest, seeking to bring Peace to the Land through Force. The Government waxed oppressive. The Lamentations of the People cried out across the Land, saying, The Gods of War will surely destroy Kyou.

Following the Murder of the King, his posthumous Name became Kommu. The Taiho was murdered by an unknown Soldier. Their Rebellion accomplished, the Old Guard left the Government in the Hands of the Chousai, and returned to their Homes, to wait out the Kyouka.
In the Summer of the Fifty-Seventh Year of Kantei, Kyourin, the Red Kirin, was born on the Holy Mountain. In the Spring of the Sixty-Fourth year, the Flags were raised in the Rishi. The Chousai tightened his control on the Government, King in all but Name and Divine Will. By the Seventy-Second Year, no King had been chosen among the Penitents of the Shouzan. The Taiho left Houzan to search for Her Lord.

In the Seventh Month of the Seventy-Second Year, the true Queen acceded to the Throne. Azana being Touke, Surname being Rin, her Imperial Insignia being Meirei. The Empress Touke ascended Houzan and there accomplished her Investiture. Her Name was recorded upon the Census of Heaven, and she was granted the Title of Queen of Kyou.
In the Ninth Month of the Seventy-Second Year, the Queen and the Old Guard, after a short War, stormed Soufuu Palace. Queen Touke beheaded the Chousai in a Duel, reclaiming Her Throne in the Name of Tentei. Queen Touke named Sei Mei Chousai, and together formed the Government.
