Hmmm yes yes
Science.
Marshall Lee pulled into a nearby gas sation and he sighed and looked at Fionna, who was still watching the back seat with worried eyes. It never ceased to amaze him how much she cared and worried about every living thing. She was always so pure and innocent, even when the world put her through hell. Her sapphire eyes scanned over the passenger seat and finally she put her gaze to Marshall.
"What?" He asked suddenly as he raised a brow.
"Nothing." She sighed and looked forward. "I just, got this feeling."
"What feeling?" He asked in a concerned tone.
"The feeling I used to get when I was younger... I'd feel this tingling sensation in my fingertips and toes."
"Fi, I think it just means you're cold." He replied with a gentle laugh.
"No, I mean... I haven't had this feeling since Dad died..." Fionna looked back at him. "Is that weird?"
"No, I think it just means that you're kind, and you have an extra sense that tells you when to do the right thing." He tried to say this with a reassuring smile as Fionna smiled back.
"That means we are meant to be with each other." Her eyes suddenly turned dreamy as she spoke.
"Why say that?" He asked with a sudden nervous feeling settling in his gut for some reason or another.
"Because when I met you for the first time, I had that feeling. I got it on my first day too, but I don't remember seeing you there." She giggled softly as she explained.
"Fi, that day in detention wasn't the first time we met." Fionna' s eyes widened in surprise.
"Oh? Really?" She scruntched up her nose as she tried to remember what he did.
"Yeah, I never realized it before, but we met when we've met before." He said, slowly pulling the car to a stop.
"When?" She asked in an all to curious tone.
"Three years ago."
Fionna jumped off the edge of Bonnie's bed and landed on a pile of pillows. They giggled and whacked her playfully with pillows.
"Girl you so crazy!" Kate giggled, flipping her brown hair over her caramel shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks again for letting me sleep over, Bubblegum." Fionna said using the nickname she came up with for her friend.
Bonnie's grandma was known as the "Candy Queen," due to her owning the local candy shop, which led to the nickname "Princess Bubblegum."
"No problem." Bonnie replied, as she originally invited Fionna over because Finn had told her about how Fionna needed to spend more time with the girls.
"Oooh! I brought cupcakes!" Kate broke in suddenly, running over to her bag and pulling out a container of cupcakes. "I forgot I even brought them until now."
"Kind of hard to forget about these babies. I was waiting on you to even mention them." Fionna said grabbing a blue one, ignoring the sounds of a knock on the door as she enjoyed her treat. "Keep baking like this and we'll have to call you Cake."
"Hey guys!" Marceline called, running into the room, her purple eyes glinted with mischief.
"Marcy!" Fionna laughed excitedly. "Did you bring the stuff?"
"Yep." The fifteen year old pulled out a small baggie full of blue candy powder. "Here."
"What is it?" Kate asked as she curiously poked the bag.
"That powder stuff you get with a dipstick from that Wonka company." Fionna answered in a simple tone.
"I'm just surprised that you found some." Bonnie replied with curiosity apparent in her voice.
"My dad got one of his assistants to find some." Marceline said with a glossy smile, earning a few "whoops" and "yeas" from all three girls. "Yeah I know. My dad is the coolest."
"No offense Marcy, but your dad is a bit of a..." Bonnie began but was suddenly cut off.
"Demon King. Again, no offense." Kate finished Bonnie's sentence off.
"I know. He's just strict is all so I try to be more..."normal" when I'm around him." Marceline muttered, using air quotes.
"We're still glad to see you though, Marcy." Bonnie said with a genuine smile. "But I still need to talk to you about..."
Marceline looked at her confusedly, and then realization hit her and she nodded. "Okay. Fionna, Kate, we'll be right back."
Marceline said as the two teens left the room to gossip about the other two girls while they were out of earshot.
"I'm glad Marcy and Bonnie finally made up. From what you told me, it was bad."
"Tell me about it! They were fighting for the dumbest reasons before Marcy came back in town again." Kate exclaimed, handing Fionna another cupcake, but just before she could take a bite, the door burst open and Finn ran in with Jake and two other guys right behind him.
One was a red headed boy, and the other was a kid with black hair.
"Hey sis, where's B?" Finn asked, jumping onto her bed.
"She went to talk to Marcy in private." Fionna said and Finn nodded and Jake followed behind him as he left the room.
"Thanks for the cupcakes." The black haired said, taking a strawberry one out of the case before Kate could protest and leaving her very unhappy.
"Fionna, you think Princess Bubblegum' s okay with all these guys in her room?"
"Dude, this is sleepover for-Hey!" Fionna shouted at Marshall Lee. He'd managed to snag her bunny hat off of her head. "Give it back man!"
" Come... And... Get it!" He teased as he jumped on top of the bed and away from Fionna.
Determined, she hopped off the ground and onto the bed. Not expecting him to be a foot taller than her, she jumped for her hat, but he held it away out of her.
"Dude!" She growled through gritted teeth.
"Ha! How can you wear this?" Marshall Lee said pulling onto his head. He made a pose. "How do I look?"
The red head laughed, and Fionna couldn't help but laugh as well. Marshall Lee noticed this and a genuine smile played on his face.
"Huh, she laughs." Before Fionna could protest, he pinned her onto the bed and tickled at her sides.
"Haha-Oh glob please-hahaha!" Fionna laughed as she shoved at him and reached for the hat.
"Here. It's too weenie-fied for me." Marshall said as he took it off finally amd plopped it onto her stomach.
"Hey! My dad made that for me!" Fionna muttered, pulling it onto her head.
"And as much as I'd like to sit here with you and kitkat over here, I've gotta go. It's almost midnight." He added, ruffling her hat. "Come on Blaze."
"That's right! Leave!" Kate yelped angrily as the two left the room.
As Marshall left, he stuck his tongue out and held up a rock sign to Kate before disappearing down the hall. As soon as the boys left, Bonnie and Marcy reappeared in the doorway with tear filled eyes.
"I'm just gonna go!" Marcy muttered angrily, packing her overnight bag.
"Fine! Just go!" Bonnie yelled back. "I don't need your arrogant company anyways!"
Marceline scowled at Bonnie and left the room as quickly as she had entered, there by marking the last time they would see her. She left the room with a cloud of silence and tension hanging over the others.
"What just happened..." Kate broke the silence first.
"I don't even know anymore..."
"I remember that day. I try to block it but..." Fionna felt tears cloud her vision. "That was the day before we left. We transferred to another foster home the day after."
"I was in Phoenix for a week after that... I didn't realize we met before last year until a few months. It dawned on me the day you wore your hat..." Marshall Lee admitted as he brushed a lone tear fall from Fionna' s eye and pulled her into a loving hug.
"It's okay, it was in the past."
"I used to hate moving around so much. I could never settle down with friends and actually-" Fionna stopped herself before she began to cry again.
She sucked it up and let out a sigh. Marshall Lee kissed her forehead. His lips lingered there for a brief moment until he pulled away and stroked her blonde hair.
"I love you." Fionna whispered softly.
"I love you to, blue."
Sep 1Fionna smiled softly up at him for a moment, but before she could say another word, the boy in the backseat stirred and he looked up at both of them awkwardly.
"Hey, guy." Fionna greeted kindly to put him at ease.
"Hey, kid. How about you tell Fionna here what's going on with your sucky life while I fill the tank up?" Marshall Lee muttered and before Fionna could scold him, he was out of the car and walking into the gas station.
Fionna huffed quickly and then turned around to face him and smiled as sweetly as she could before speaking to him. After getting him to explain his problem further to her, Fionna couldn't help but pity him. No... She understood him.
She wasn't the girl who pitied others. She understood and helped others. She'd been pitied all her life and hated it, so she wasn't going to make someone else feel the same.
"So, Modesto, right?" He nodded his head slowly. "How about you spend Christmas with us? I know its sudden, but you seem like a nice kid and its just until you can get back on your feet and make amends with your mom. Only if you want, that is."
"I dunno. I don't really-" He was going to say no, but then Fionna cut in.
"I love helping people in need. I can't just sit back and let you live in the streets. You're a kid like me. I can't let that happened. "
Modesto couldn't help but smile and actually began to feel trust in her. If it meant being away from the wretched woman that gave birth to him, he was all for it and began to wonder why he ever thought 'No' in the first place.
"Okay." He finally said with a soft smile.
"Good." Fionna replied just as Marshall got into the car.
"Alright. Where to next?" Marshall asked as Fionna smiled at him knowingly.
"What?"
