Chapter 21: Mind Games
…...
"Xerxes. Xerxes, wake up. You're gonna be late for school." I heard my mom say through the door. I was awake, I was laying in my bed staring out my window. That was all I ever did anymore. Since Jeff disowned me, since I no longer had my baby, since I no longer had a friend I knew didn't once try to kill me. I missed it all. I missed it so much.
I tossed the covers off and dragged myself to the shower. I felt like deadweight. I felt like I didn't matter to anyone anymore. It's what I deserved. I was so mean to him that night and all he wanted was to fix things. I punched myself for that everyday. It had been six long months of no Jeff. It was so hard, I was scaring my mom with my violent outburst, my random break downs, she didn't know what the hell was going on with me and it's not like I could tell her.
"Xerxes!" I heard her call again.
"God ma, just go to work! Who cares if I'm late for school!?" I yelled.
"Fine Xerxes, I don't care what you do anymore, I just don't give a damn." She said slamming the front door behind her. I leaned against the wall for a minute realizing that I'd just pushed someone else away from me. I was screwing myself over again and again.
'Valkyrie.' I tried. She hadn't spoken to me in so long that I thought maybe she'd disowned me too. I still had her ring though. I wore it on a chain around my neck. I played with it in my hand and walked over to my bed laying down and closing my eyes.
'Valkyrie. I need you. I need help. Please tell me I'm not in this alone.' It was just darkness. No other voices but mine. I sighed and opened my eyes. Nothing. Not a damn word.
…...
"So what do you think of this tux?" She asked.
"Yea. It's great." I said not looking.
"Ugh, Jeff c'mon. This is our wedding, everything has to be perfect."
"I know Misty I know." I said finally turning to the woman. She stood in front of me holding a magazine that showed a cream white tuxedo. I quirked an eyebrow at her and shook my head.
"No. That thing is hideous and I'm not wearing it." I said. Her face twisted up and she snarled throwing the magazine at me.
"You are unbelievable Jeffrey! Every fucking choice is a no with you!"
"Why can't we just do black?" I asked sighing.
"Because that's boring and it's the color she wanted you to wear." She muttered.
"Actually, she wanted me to wear an ash grey tuxedo. Since we're talking about it." I shot back.
"You still love her don't you?" She smirked.
"Why do you care?" I asked her.
"I don't. She's nothing and the best thing you ever did was get rid of her." She smiled.
"Isn't she like..your sister witch or something? Aren't you all supposed to love each other?"
"Raine takes that too seriously. I don't have to love anyone I don't want to. Besides, you put her out. Now we have to search for our next high priestess."
"Put her out? She can still come back ya know, I never took her magic." I told her.
"What?...Why?!" She exclaimed.
"I don't have to answer to you." I chuckled.
"Oh yes you do, I'm your fiance. We're getting married. I'm not like her, you aren't just gonna walk all over me and think you can get away with it Hardy. I want answers and I want them now." She sneered.
"You're kidding right? The only reason we're together is because my dad liked the idea of ending a long ass feud between warlocks and witches. He asked you to marry me, I didn't. I only have three purposes that require your assistance. Get me off, get my crown, and get me my got damn son."
…...
"Hi." I heard. I looked up and then back down ignoring the boy who smiling at me with a cup of beer in his hand.
"Go away." I said.
"Um...your friend Tania told me you needed a good time." He said sitting next to me.
"She's not my friend and I said go away." I repeated this time smacking the cup out of his hand.
"The hell? Look I'm just trying to be nice to you. Wanted to know if you wanted to dance or whatever." He scoffed.
"Or whatever?"
"Yea or like talk I don't know, you just seemed bored." He said. I bit my bottom lip and leaned closer to him.
"Fuck me." He stared at me before looking around.
"What?"
"You heard me. You wanna show me a good time. Fine, fuck my brains. Better than anyone ever has." I said. I guess part of me was tired of missing Jeff and I doubted he was missing me. The mystery boy took my hand and hurried me up the steps to a vacant bedroom. Kissing me and touching my body all over. His kisses were nothing were like Jeff's.
"I want you to be rough. Very very rough." I purred. I could hear him smirking in my ear.
"You do this with all the guys you first meet?" I slapped him across the face and placed a searing kiss on his lips. His hand slid up my thigh yanking at my panties. I hurriedly undid the belt buckle on his pants and freed him through the slit in his boxers. He wasn't that big or that thick, not like Jeff. 'Think about now, not then.'
"Fuck me." I demanded through gritted teeth. He turned his head to face me and a small gasp escaped my lips.
"Do you do with all the guys you first meet?" He growled. I let out a slight scream shoving him hard away from me.
"What the fuck?!" He exclaimed. My bottom lip trembled and I shook my head.
"I- I'm sorry. I can't do this." I said grabbing my discarded panties from off the floor.
"You crazy bitch!" I heard him yell as I dashed out of the bedroom and out the door to my car. I revved up the engine and took off down the road. I didn't drive for long before I had to pull over and just breathe. My hands grip the steering wheel hard. I heard my cell phone ring. I answered it after checking the caller ID and ran a hand through my hair.
"What?"
"Xerx, where the hell did you go? Alan said you ran out on him." Tania said.
"Look, I know this is gonna sound like a bitch thing to say, but leave me alone." I cried.
"What? What the hell did I do to you!?" She exclaimed.
"You're not my friend Tania! I know you don't give a damn about me! You'd kill me over some sleazebag if you had to! You only care about you and I want nothing else to do with you. Goodbye. Delete my number and don't ever call me again." And with that I hung up and went home. I needed to sleep. I needed to cry. I needed to do anything I could to shake that image out of my head. Anything but that image.
…...
'Xerxes...Xerxes.' I heard faintly. 'Get up. Come here. Come to me.' My eyes fluttered open and I looked around. It was total darkness except for the blue light that moving slowly through a dark abyss.
'Valkyrie?' I called. I hurriedly got out of my bed and it felt like I could fall at any moment. 'Valkyrie wait!' I called running after her glow. 'Valkyrie I need you! I need to talk to you!' She kept moving. No matter how slowly she moved it was like I couldn't catch her.
'Valkyrie. I'm sorry I disappointed you. I'm sorry I wasn't the right girl.' I called out. Valkyrie stopped in mid stride and sent a bolt of lightning at me sending me rolling across the black air.
'Disappoint me.' She spoke. 'Yes. Wrong girl? No. If you were the wrong girl, I would've never come to you. The problem is that you're stupid. Immature and stupid.'
'I'm sorry.' I sniffled.
'Get up.' She hissed. I did as the woman told me. 'Come to me child.' She said. She extended her arm to me and I walked over to her letting her pull me into an embrace that I didn't know was possible.
'Watch.' She whispered. I opened my eyes and the scenery around me changed. I was back in my room. My old room. The one I had when I lived with Jeff. I turned around and watched the two people before me. Jeff, in nothing...with Misty in simply her panties. She was straddling his lap as he sat on the bed. His hands left trails down her back and gabbed at the pale flesh.
'How can he do this?' I asked Valkyrie. Misty's hands slid down his chest easing him back down on the bed before she started to stroke him. I narrowed my eyes shaking my head in disgust.
'How can she do this? I thought we were coven sisters.'
'You are. You are still the High Priestess. Misty has never really been the one to...respect boundaries.'
'I swear I could blow this bitch up.' I snarled. 'She can't feel my presence can she?'
'If you get close enough to him, he can.' She said standing there motionless. I didn't say anything else to her. I moved over to the bed quickly and sat on my knees behind Jeff's head. I stared down at him and slowly reached for his hair. I could feel his colored locks against my skin faintly. His eyes fluttered open and he stared through me. I watched his lips as he mouthed my name and then I moved my hand down his chest.
'Jeff.' I whispered.
'You know, right now you're just a spirit...you could easily just...posses him.' Valkyrie told me. She didn't have to say another word. I understood what she meant. I held his face in my hands staring deep into his eyes and blew every bit of me inside of his body until I could see and feel everything he felt. Hear everything he could.
'Do you like the way that feels baby?' Misty breathed.
'Get the fuck off me.' I snapped...Jeff snapped. You know.
'Excuse me?' She spat.
'Get. The fuck. Off me.' We said again. We sat up shoving the woman to their floor.
'What in the fuck is your problem!?' Misty yelled. 'Is this about that little bitch Jeff?'
'If I were you, I'd show her some respect. She's your high priestess and she knows that. She'll come back to attend to coven duty and when she finds out that you're shacking up with me, oh, you're gonna be in hot shit.' We chuckled.
'You think I give a damn. When I see her..I'll be sure to tell her everything. All those times you fucked me, you can't ever keep your hands off me. I don't know what your problem is, but I know by tomorrow morning you'll want me again.' She smirked.
'I'll never want you again. You were never good anyways. Just a cheap hole to fill.' We spat. 'Get out. Don't you ever bring your skank ass back in this room.' Misty scoffed at the one of us and rolled her eyes storming out.
'I think you've done enough for tonight.' Valkyrie told me. We nodded and I left his body to him and watched him pass out on the bed.
'Will he remember any of it?' I asked.
'Being possessed, no. Seeing you? Yes.' I nodded and the scene faded away before taking Jeff with it. 'Sleep now Xerxes. We have a lot to do tomorrow.'
'Tomorrow?' I asked her. She nodded.
'Yes my child. Tomorrow we begin your training. Your proper training. I like to call it..Bitch Camp for bitches who deserve to be witches.'
