Chapter 21 – Second Nature

The interrogator sitting across from Karin quickly set up a camera and audio recorder. "So what can you tell us about Orochimaru and his plans?"

Karin had been settled into a small, but nice room in the Intelligence Departments Headquarters. There were guards posted at any potential escape points, but since she had turned herself in and was cooperating, her stay was looking to be rather pleasant with plenty of luxuries she didn't often get with Orochimaru or Oto. She even had her own mini-fridge! For free! Of course, there were downsides to her situation, like the fact that she wouldn't be able to leave the building until at least after the Chuunin Exam's conclusion. Couldn't have Orochimaru or any of his agents finding her out after all.

"Konoha has agreed to grant me asylum then?"

"That's right. The papers you read and signed earlier have been processed and approved by the Hokage himself." She recognized the man as one of the proctors in the first exam. He wore the standard Intelligence division uniform, a large pair of glasses, and wore his Hitai-ate in a bandanna style. He'd introduced himself as Mozuku.

Karin paused for a quick moment, using her sensory capabilities to determine how truthful he was being. Her Kagura Shingan (Mind's Eye of the Divine Entertainment) was ridiculously useful. Not only could it accurately pinpoint specific individual chakra signatures within a five kilometer radius, it could detect when people were lying and whether they or herself were being affected by a Genjutsu. She wasn't disappointed with what she found.

"Good. Well, since I was so low on the totem pole I probably don't know much. My role was to help Orochimaru quickly and effectively find Uchiha Sasuke, apparently so he could inflict his Cursed Seal on him. I don't know what else exactly he's planning, but it's definitely something big. Troop training exercises have been steadily escalating for the last year. If I had to say, I'd think that they were preparing for war." Though with a village as small and weak as Otogakure was at the moment, Karin had to wonder just what they hoped to accomplish. Even with Orochimaru, Konoha would have no trouble crushing the newly founded Hidden Village.

Mozuku nodded, taking notes on his clipboard. "And how exactly were you able to locate Sasuke?"

"According to Orochimaru, I have very powerful Sensor-nin capabilities. My Kagura Shingan (Mind's Eye of the Divine Entertainment) can locate and pick out specific chakra signatures within five kilometers of me. But the further out the harder I have to concentrate and it only works with signatures I can recognize."

Mozuku's eyebrow lifted, looking very interested. "Really? Can you give me a demonstration?" That was more than half the diameter of the entire village.

"There are two ANBU outside the door, one in the ceiling, and another two, seventeen meters outside of the window, hiding in the trees…and the one in the ceiling is now moving." Karin's right index finger was pointing at the ceiling, tracking the ANBU as he or she experimentally moved side to side.

"Very impressive Karin-San. Can you detect Orochimaru?"

"No, he's not within my range. Or he's being careful about hiding his signature. Shinobi as skilled as Orochimaru can still hide from me, but they have to be focusing a fair bit on it."

"I see. Please inform someone if you ever do sense something alright?"

Karin nodded in agreement. "Of course."

"Do you think your disappearance will alarm Orochimaru at all?" The questions may be tedious, but they had to be asked.

Karin opened her mouth but hesitated with a look of worry. "I…I don't think so, but I hardly consider myself an expert on his thought processes. I would be surprised if he wasn't expecting me to try and escape him in the forest. It was a good chance for me, since there were so many hiding places and I could conceal my chakra signature so well." Karin hadn't thought of this possibility. She'd been focused entirely on getting away from the Snake Sannin. Could this be just another part of his plans, or did he just think that she'd been killed by the dangers of the forest?

Kakashi clapped his hands together, vigorously rubbing the palms together a few times. He and Naruko were currently in Training Ground 3, where he'd conducted their Bell Test. Hinata was recovering from her fight with Neji, the Hyuuga Clan adamant that she be tended by their physicians only, and Sasuke was being instructed on the use of his Sharingan back at the Uchiha Compound by one of Kakashi's Shadow Clones. "So! Good job making it to the final test of the Chuunin Exam Naruko-Chan. I've got a few ideas of what could be useful, but I want to hear your own analysis of what you would improve upon for the tournament." Kakashi didn't want to be giving her the answers after all. That certainly wouldn't be a good test of her qualifications for the Chuunin rank. Promotions involving fighting prowess were one of the few times where cheating was really frowned upon for shinobi. If you got the rank due to cheating, but didn't have what it took otherwise, you were just setting yourself up for failure, and more than likely the death of yourself and whatever team you might be working with.

"The only ones I'm worried about are Tenten and Lee. Tenten's fire will swallow up any of my Futon Jutsu and she's at the very least my equal with straight up Kenjutsu and superior to me in all other forms of Bukijutsu. We haven't had the chance to spar for awhile so she's probably got some new tricks ready to use against me, but I should be able to handle her well enough. I was thinking that I would finally look up some Suiton Jutsu to counter, ask either you or Haku-Chan for help." Naruko leaned back against the training post, crossing her ankles, as Kakashi listened with no visible reaction or comment. "And oh yea!" Her eyes lit up. "I've got these super awesome new tags I experimented with in wave!"

Digging into her equipment pouch she pulled out a single slip of paper the size of an explosive tag, wrapped it around a kunai and tossed it over the river. Moments later the tag exploded with a muted crack of thunder and a burst of purple electricity.

"I call it the Karui Odoroko O Haretsu No Tagu O Hiko! (Flying Tag of Bursting Light Amazement!)"

Kakashi stared at her in disbelief. "Good God, there's another one. Minato-Sensei was always coming up with ridiculous names for new techniques, whether he was the one who created it or not." He wanted to call Kakashi's Chidori (One Thousand Birds) the Sashi Seigi Hikari no Te! (Hand of Stabbing Justice Light!)

"Umm, maybe you should come up with a…more dignified name for it." If Kakashi didn't know any better, he'd say that she was sulking. It was difficult to tell with that mask of hers.

"Why does everyone keep telling me that? My names are cool."

"Yup. Minato-Sensei always said the same thing. It was pretty funny watching the argument he and Kushina had over the Rasengan (Spiraling Sphere)" Minato had been pretty angry when he'd invented it, the war having frustrated him greatly. He wanted to call it the Grind Your Face into Death With This Ball of Chakra. Kakashi mentally shook himself. "Anyways, please continue Naruko-Chan." (1)

"Fine. Lee is my biggest threat. His speed matches my own. I might be a little faster, but not by much, and his Taijutsu is well beyond mine. He's definitely my toughest sparring partner, but like Tenten we haven't had a match in a good while. For him, I was thinking that I should practice my jutsu, ideally so I could perform them without needing to make seals, and therefore be able to use them quick enough to react to his speed and reflexes. Not to mention it's now something of a priority since Sasuke awakened his Sharingan. Other than that, standard training practices, since Genjutsu really isn't my thing. Just being able to dispel them is enough for me."

Naruko continued analyzing her competition. "Neji is no threat. His abilities lie near completely in close range combat and he's not fast enough to catch me. I'll just stay at a distance and pick him apart with my jutsu, maybe swarm him with clones. I've fought Hina-Chan enough times to know how to deal with the early forms of the Juken. Kankuro probably won't get past Lee, but if he somehow does, I doubt he'll pose much danger. His abilities are tricky, but the sheer difference in physical capability between us will nullify that. My regular training will suffice. Sakura, again no threat. She's greatly improved since the academy, so much so that it honestly surprised me. Kurenai-Sensei must be a talented sensei. But like her, Sakura seems to be a Genjutsu type, which is ineffective against me since I have three extra minds protecting my own. You'd probably have to have a mature Sharingan to be able to put one over on me. No particular training needed, I suppose I might try spying on her later to discover any surprises before the tournament. Shikamaru, again, no threat. Though he's incredibly smart, much smarter than I am and beats me at Shogi ninety nine times out of a hundred, he doesn't have the capability of taking me down. Even if he catches me with his Kagemane (Shadow Imitation) he doesn't have the chakra to hold me for long, and any injuries he makes me inflict on myself will heal quickly. Although it's another reason to work on seal-less jutsu, I'll focus on the Shinkugyoku (Vacuum Bullets) for its flexibility, and or the Kage Bunshin (Shadow Clone), for the same reason. Shino, I don't know as much about him as the others, but I still don't think he'll be able to take me down. I'm expecting him to defeat Shikamaru. He's definitely one of the best from our class, probably even better than Sasuke was. But anyways, I doubt anyone whose primary threat is chakra draining has a chance at beating me. No special training for him. I'm expecting my fights to be Neji, Lee and Tenten."

Kakashi nodded in approval. "Very good breakdown. Seal-less Jutsu might be ambitious, but your reasoning for it is good. But remember, that ability is double edged. The jutsu is quicker and more unpredictable, but also weaker because the chakra used is not molded as completely as if you went through the seals. You hit the big one I was thinking with the Suiton techniques. I remember your file saying you had a minor affinity for it, probably more of your Uzumaki heritage showing through, yet you didn't have any techniques for it. Not to mention it'd more than likely come in useful in conjunction with the Sea Serpents. So, the Jutsu I'm thinking of are the Suirou (Water Prison), and Mizurappa (Rampaging Waves)."

"Rampaging Waves sounds useful, but why the Water Prison?" Naruko cocked her head, smiling up at the Jounin.

"Suirou (Water Prison) has more than one application. You saw Zabuza use the most obvious and intended application, the capturing of a target." Kakashi ran through the hand seals, a stream of water pulling itself from the nearby river and wrapping around Kakashi. "It can also be used as a defensive measure. Fire techniques will have a tough time harming you through this." His voice was slightly garbled by the liquid, but he didn't seem to be in any discomfort. He released the jutsu, the water falling to the ground and soaking the grass and dirt. "Just be careful against Raiton users, obviously. Since it's your own jutsu, you'll be able to manipulate the chakra to allow you free movement within the bubble. Depending on the amount of chakra you use, you can manipulate the size and density of the prison to suit the situation. I've even heard stories of a Kiri Missing-nin creating a water prison around the size of the Hokage Monument."

"It didn't occur to me that you could put yourself in the bubble. How durable can you make it?" Naruko was getting excited. She had been a little skeptical when Kakashi took her aside for personalized training, but he seemed to have gotten his act as a sensei together.

"The water can be as heavy as steel with enough chakra. But be careful with this technique. With as much chakra as you have, you might end up accidentally crushing yourself. Now, as for the Mizurappa (Rampaging Waves), it's similar to the Daitoppa (Great Breakthrough)." He ran through the three seals necessary and released a violent blast of water from his masked lips, extending out in front of him in a cone. The attack dug a fan shaped groove in front of him, extending several meters out until it reached the tree line, tearing chunks of bark off them.

"It has more destructive capability than the Daitoppa (Great Breakthrough), but it has a much smaller range than the wind technique. With these two Jutsu, you shouldn't have much trouble against Tenten's fire. We have a month to teach you how to do water transformation with your chakra and practice the techniques." The nature transformation would be the most difficult part, but with Naruko's talent and drive it shouldn't take too long, he would guess three or four days of focused attention to master it. After that, it was the simple matter of memorizing of the seal sequences and sparring practice so she could get better at using them during a fight.

Naruko nodded, quickly getting to her feet. Chuunin Exam participants were barred from missions outside of the village until the end of the Exams, but they could take missions in village as they wished or if they needed or wanted more money and experience. So she could spend the entire month training if she so desired without having to worry about missions cutting in.

"Sounds good Kakashi-Sensei! Let's do this!"

Kakashi eye smiled at her enthusiasm. This whole 'sensei' thing was actually pretty cool.

Over with Sasuke, Kakashi was having a much less pleasant time.

"So there's nothing you can tell me about how to make my Sharingan stronger!?" Sasuke growled out, with his Sharingan active. He had been inconsolable once he'd regained consciousness and learned he had been defeated, especially with his newly awakened bloodline.

"I've already told you what you need to know Sasuke. The only way to advance your Sharingan is through good old fashioned training and distress. When I got mine, it was already at the two tomoe stage, so there aren't any tricks I can teach you to make it grow faster. Mine grew to the three tomoe stage during the third war, so I'd guess that you have to suffer similar distress for it to evolve. The only thing I can do is help you become accustomed to it. Perhaps there's something in the Uchiha libraries that can help you, but for now, we'll go through some sparring exercises so you can get used to its predictive abilities." Kakashi had never received instruction in its use after all. Ever since he'd received the Sharingan he'd been on shaky ground with the Uchiha Clan and been barred from their properties unless it concerned an assignment from the Hokage.

"Tch, fine." Maybe he'd be able to get some Jutsu out of Kakashi while they were at it. After all, he just needed to see it in action once with the Sharingan in order to learn it.

Kakashi held in an annoyed sigh. Sasuke would be under watch for the foreseeable future due to the Cursed Seal and the Hokage would ask Jiraiya to examine it and the notes taken during its forming as soon as possible. Sasuke had been making some decent progress in proving his loyalty to the village, but this set him back even beyond square one.

"Are you sure you need all of this?" Sai asked as he followed Haku around while she picked out new clothes, books, and pet supplies. She had even convinced him to be her pack mule for the venture, and his arms were currently yelling at him for it.

"Of course I do! I'm moving to a completely new village, the first stable home I've had since I left Kiri. Traveling like we did before didn't lend itself well to owning very much. In fact, I only had about three sets of clothes before now. Not to mention it's so much warmer here than everywhere else I've been, so I need cooler clothing." Haku picked out a blue dress, holding it up against her front. "What do you think about this one?"

Sai looked for a moment before shrugging. He never put much thought into clothing when it didn't pertain to a mission. "Unless you want tips for infiltrating a specific place, I won't be of any use there.

Haku gave him a blank look before sighing in resignation, putting the dress back where she found it. "Typical shinobi response."

"Speaking of shinobi, are you going to register with Konoha's forces once your probation is over?" Sai had noticed a distinct lack of anything a shinobi would use in the field. The clothing was far too delicate and noticeable, and there were only a few packs of senbon in regards to weaponry.

"Well, I'm planning on registering with the reserves and the Home Defense Corp, but I'm hoping that I won't have to be an active shinobi. Do you think that they'll allow that?" Haku looked at him with a face full of worry. (2)

Sai smiled in response. "Actually, I think that would please the village council and the Hokage greatly. If you stay here in the village, then they don't have to worry as much about losing your bloodline in the line of duty."

Haku let out a large breath and sagged in relief. "Oh good. I was worried about that. I don't enjoy many things about being a shinobi. You don't think Naru-Chan will be disappointed do you?"

"Naruko-Chan's the type of person who always supports her friends as long as they're not betraying her. I think she'll react the same way the Hokage will and be relieved that you'll be safe in the village."

Haku hugged Sai, unintentionally smothering the shorter boy with her chest. "That's wonderful! C'mon, there are still some stores that I want to visit!" The rest of their shopping trip had Haku in a profoundly more upbeat mood since they started. Sai was just happy that the Hokage had given him a stipend for getting Haku all settled in, as the girl seemed intent on making up for a life of little to no shopping opportunities.

Naruko lounged on the shore of the river in training ground three, eyes closed in meditation. Her clothes were in a pile behind her, and everything from her chest down was submerged in the water. This was the process Kakashi was walking her through to familiarize herself with water natured chakra. Learning a jutsu wasn't as simple as memorizing a sequence of seals, you also had to actively manipulate your own chakra into the correct composition of energies and temperament, so to speak. The seals just helped to solidify, strengthen and focus your chakra into whatever jutsu you were performing.

Wind was free flowing and unpredictable, the only visible proof of existence being the effect on its surroundings as it passed by. It was commonly regarded as the element for the ignored, the lonely, the overlooked and the unknown. To learn this element, Naruko had meditated on top of a tall wooden training post with minimal clothing to maximize her contact with wind.

Fire was passionate and vibrant. It was the most volatile of all the elements, capable of providing the comforting warmth necessary for survival, as well as hellish, unforgiving infernos. This was the element of confidence, sometimes perceived as arrogance, often found in people who were most at home in social settings, and were often quick to anger. Tenten had meditated surrounded by large bonfires to get in touch with fire natured chakra.

Water was calm and nurturing, but had the greatest depth to it between the five base chakra natures. Like the oceans, those possessing this nature are likely to be calm most of the time, but there are usually a great many characteristics hidden beneath the surface and when angered are not shy about making it known, though it may take awhile to push them far enough.

Earth was patient and everlasting. On average, those with this affinity had the easiest time learning it than any other person with a different affinity did theirs due to their personalities being the most suited to meditation and deep thinking. It was regarded as the element of the steadfast, the loyal, and the patient or lazy. If someone wanted to learn this nature, the best option would be to find a deep cave and meditate there, the deeper the better.

Lightning was the opposite of Earth, impatient, fast, and short-lived. This nature often belonged to those who prized efficiency and speed, with a particular liking to one hit finishers that ended conflicts quickly and economically. This was the most difficult and dangerous nature to learn without another shinobi already versed in its formation. To learn to use an affinity, you had to get as close to the element as you could. So for lightning users, that meant sitting outside in the middle of a thunderstorm, preferably as high up as possible. Needless to say, many people died cultivating this affinity. Hopefully you would be able to find a sensei that already knew how to do the transformation and could walk you through it.

Naruko was incredibly blessed to have a sensei that was highly versed in all five of the base elemental nature transformations. As Konoha's premier Ninjutsu Specialist, Kakashi was capable of effectively using jutsu from each of the base elements. In addition to this, he had the Sharingan, allowing him to monitor the flow of her chakra and provide direction as she progressed.

"You're still too wild. Remember that water always flows in one direction, following gravity and momentum." Kakashi said from behind her, glancing up for a moment from his book.

The first affinity you learned was simultaneously the easiest and most difficult one to learn. On one hand, the first time was always confusing with lots of guess work and experimentation with manipulating your chakra. On the other hand, after you learned it, and went on to a different affinity, you had to retrain yourself from the habitual manipulation of your chakra into the first element. Naruko for example, was finding the jump from wind to water very disorienting. She kept trying to let her chakra fly and contort, when she was supposed to be guiding it in specific directions. Water natured chakra was much more specifically organized then the free flowing wind.

The object of her current exercise was to transform her chakra to the point that she could make minor manipulations to the flow of the current around her, or even to pull some of the water from the river with just her chakra. So far, she wasn't having much luck. It took her two full days to make enough progress with wind to perform even very weak versions of the Daitoppa (Great Breakthrough), her first Futon jutsu, and she didn't think water would be any different.

The sun was setting by the time Kakashi decided to end their training for the day. Naruko was making steady progress, but was still a ways away from utilizing water transformation for her chakra.

"Alright Naruko-Chan, I think that's enough for today. Get dressed and get something to eat, I'll meet you here again tomorrow." They'd been at it since just after breakfast after all, Kakashi taking a page from Naruko's book by sending a Shadow Clone out for takeout.

"Aw, c'mon Kakashi-Sensei, Just a few more hours. I've almost got it." She sat upright and twisted to look at him, completely unfazed by her own nudity.

"Rest is an important part of training Naruko-Chan. Even you can't keep going forever. See ya!" Kakashi vanished in a cloud of smoke.

"Aww. Oh well. I'm getting all wrinkly anyways." She said examining her hands. She got out of the river and tossed her clothes on, still dripping with water. Naruko experimentally ran through the hand seals for one of the jutsu Kakashi was teaching her.

"Suiton: Mizurappa! (Rampaging Waves)" As Naruko exhaled, all the moisture in her mouth and throat was spat out in a small spray of saliva. She quickly gagged and choked, her now bone dry mouth and throat contracting and splitting in the absence of all moisture. Thinking quickly, she dove into the river, inhaling the water to soothe her throat, and inevitably drawing a good deal of the substance into her lungs.

Her coughs continued upon surfacing, this time wet with water tinged red by her blood. After a few moments, she finally recomposed herself.

"And that, is why we don't learn new elemental transformations and jutsu without supervision." She rasped out to herself. She was very glad Danzo-Sama hadn't seen her do something so reckless. He was the one who first taught her about the dangers of learning elemental jutsu, and he'd be so disappointed in her for this. So he must never find out.

This was one of the reasons the Academy didn't teach anything outside of the standard Ninpo Jutsu. All of the elements had their own hazards to them, whereas non elemental jutsu, like the Bunshin (Clone) didn't require any meddling with composition and temperament. It was just gather the chakra, make the seals, and boom! Jutsu success. Provided you had enough control of course.

Pulling herself from the water, she began the trip back to the Shimura Compound, ignoring the stares, pointing and mutters from the villagers filling the streets.

As she was passing through the shopping district, she instinctively brought her right hand up, catching a rock that had been speeding at her chest. Looking for the source, she spotted Tenten waving at her from the porch on one of the Akimichi's barbecue restaurants, with Sai, Haku and Lee with her. Smile widening, the still damp girl made her way over to them.

"Where were you all day Naru-Chan? Lee and I were looking for you for hours! We wanted to celebrate making it into the finals for the exams."

Naruko dragged an extra chair over to the table and sat down, with a shrug. "Here and there." She said evasively. Like she'd said earlier, Tenten and Lee were going to be her biggest challenges, and she didn't want to give them any intelligence on her preparations. Unfortunately for Naruko, this had become something of a tell for her.

"Oho, Naru-Chan is keeping secrets from us Lee. I think she's been planning our downfall." Whenever she shrugged like that when asked a direct question by her friends it meant that she either didn't want to tell, or had been ordered not to.

"Ooooh! Naruko-Chan must have been training hard all day to defeat us! But we were training just as hard! Tomorrow I will run around the village one hundred times! If I cannot do that then I will-!" Lee was abruptly cut off by an irate Tenten slamming a palm between his eyes, knocking him over.

"Not now Lee! You yell about this stuff enough when we're actually training! We don't need that noise when we're not!"

"Don't be silly Ten-Chan. Training is the best!"

"Ughh." Tenten sagged in resignation before perking back up. "Well, at least we have another girl to add to the group, and unlike the rest of you, she doesn't seem to be obsessed with getting stronger." She said smiling across the table at Haku. "And she was telling us all about how she beat you up."

Naruko turned to Haku with a disgruntled air about her, despite her expression never shifting from its close eye'd smile. "Was she now? I hope she hasn't been telling you everything. A girls gotta have her secrets after all."

Haku smiled back, a small bead of nervous sweat gathering at her right temple before spotting their waitress and taking advantage of the chance to distract the blonde. "Oh look, our server is here! Is everyone ready to order?"

And sure enough, the prospect of food was more than enough to get Naruko's attention.

"Oh! Five of the deluxe platters please!" Naruko requested, spinning in her chair to look at the young woman.

"Well that's nice and simple to remember." The waitress said, writing down the order and preparing to turn away.

"What are you all getting?" Naruko asked her friends, making the waitress stare at her in bafflement.

"Umm, excuse me Ojou-Chan, but are all five platters just for you?"

"That's right. That's not a problem is it?"

"Uh, no! Of course not!"

That night, the patrons of the restaurant were treated to the impossible sight of a five and a half foot tall girl consuming five seven-pound platters worth of food in one sitting, all by herself…and then go on to ask for the restaurants specialty sundae, which was a wooden boat full of the frozen treat meant to serve a family of four, and eat it all by herself…and then finally, the sight of said girl descending into what seemed to be a very harsh brain freeze while her friends laughed at her.

End Chapter!

(1) I don't think I'm going to use Romaji for the crazy names Naruko (And Minato) want to call techniques anymore. They look so clunky, and really, it's just the English part of it that I like.

(2) Home Defense Corp – Like the name suggests, this branch of Konoha's military is dedicated entirely to protecting the village from attacks. In addition to regular commissioned Konoha Ninja, it is comprised of retired shinobi personnel, and a civilian militia in cases of extreme emergency.

Aaaaargh! This chapter was a complete bitch to write! My muse just refuses to stay current with the fic, flying well ahead into future possibilities! But I can't write those possibilities cause I'm not there yet! *Tugs at Hair* So frustrating!...Does that qualify as writers block? Oh well, doesn't matter.

So, Haku wants to take on primarily a civilian/kind of retired shinobi role in the village. Pretty much every fic I can remember that involves Haku coming to Konoha have her going on missions that will more than likely require her to kill, and she usually does, magically losing her problems with the act. But the thing is, I find that incredibly out of character for her. Haku hates killing. She will do it when she doesn't have a choice, and in order to protect something precious, but that's about it.

In all of the hundreds of Naruto fics that I've read, not once have I come across one that tries to go into the supposedly advanced technique of Nature Transformation. It's supposed to be pretty difficult to do it, yet it always seems to be a matter of 'Throw hundreds of Kage Bunshin at it' and presto, Naruto's mastered it in a day. That whole training method doesn't even make sense to me. If you've got a thousand clones practicing the exact same thing, you'll just get a thousand memories of the exact same thing. Experience has to build on itself damnit! The Kage Bunshin training method shouldn't make anything go by faster, unless you're trying to increase your chakra reserves. So anyways, this chapter has my vision of what Nature Transformation training is. Surrounding yourself by the element you're learning, and reading the composition and temperament of the chakra within it.

Like always, all feedback, constructive criticism, and questions welcome.
