ERM...Just a heads up, this is a pretty heavy chapter. But I hope you like anyways! ^D^ Happy reading! The song to listen to with this is The Brothers Bright - Blood on My Name
You're welcome for making it better. ^D^ There's also hints of IronWitch here.
"Glynda...can I talk to you for a while?" Ironwood sighed, as he gave a deep sigh after waiting a few minutes for her to pick up. She could already sense his concern just by his voice alone and her brow furrowed. "Of course James, I'm not busy right now, it's just some paperwork. Tell me what's wrong. I'm all ears."
"Thank you." James said sincerely and put a hand on his mouth, trying to choose his words carefully. That didn't turn out too right however. "I can't take it anymore Glynda. I don't know what to do..."
"James just...please explain. I'm here." Glynda frowned, and put her pen down. She could hear Ironwood's sobs from the other side of the line. "I've been lied to Glynda...all this time and my own father has been lying to me and I...I don't know what to do. I'm his son...and the General of Atlas...and all this time he's been keeping secrets from me. I knew there was something there. I knew, I...but I was never allowed to see. And now I think I know who it is and this..."
~~~~ O ~~~~
"You know...I haven't seen you sleep much." Oliver said, rolling to his back and looking at the ceiling. Roman snorted. "Oh yeah, coming from a guy who sleeps all the time.
"Are you scared to sleep?" Oliver had a knack for ignoring Roman's constant sarcasm and wit. Unfortunately for Roman, that also meant he went straight to the subject and didn't stray away from the course. That was always what his sarcasm was for. Roman didn't answer and stayed quiet. "I used to be afraid too."
"Let me guess, your boy toy chased away the nightmares? No pun intended." Oliver only snorted at his response and stayed quiet for a while, before sighing. "I've always known it...but I was too much of a coward to acknowledge it."
"But ever since we met...ever since I became obsessed with the only prey that escaped me and lived to tell the tale..." Oliver looked at Roman and his eyes made Roman tense up. "You've changed my life Roman."
"Not really the answer I was expecting...but okay. I'll take it over you getting mad I suppose..." Another retort that made Oliver laugh. "You made me realize some things...things that drove me mad a long time ago..."
~~~~ O ~~~~
"Now I know who it is in there that's breaking everyone...and all this time he's been keeping it from me. His own son!" James then began to openly sob and slammed his fist against the table. Glynda frowned and then stood up, hurriedly packing some things into a bag. "Let's talk about this in person. Over a cup of tea or coffee maybe? I hope you're not busy and that, well, you can make it.
"Yeah, I can...Thank you Glynda. I'll meet you soon...but first..." Ironwood took a deep breath and stood up, drying his tears. "I need to see if I'm correct."
James got up and took for the lowest floor.
~~~~ O ~~~~
"My life was based on a lie..." Roman could see that there was obviously something wrong with the Faunus and the last thing he would have wanted was a mental breakdown. Roman sighed. "I've done so much in his name...I even betrayed some who I might've called family in his name...but it was all a lie...and perhaps I really am nothing but a worthless animal...a worthless traitor who just needs to die already."
"You're not the only one with regrets." Roman snapped at the other, who only looked at him with emotionless eyes. He was right...Oliver was definitely breaking right now. "I've also got blood on my hands...blood I don't even want. And for so long I thought I was fighting for something. For revenge over my family's deaths. So I killed. I killed and I rebelled and then finally I became numb. I thought for so long that it was the right thing to do, but in reality..."
"You were throwing your life away for some meaningless matter." Oliver laughed sadly and let tears fall from his eyes. "But the more you killed, the more hollow you got. And the worst part of it all? You still do it...because you can't stop."
"Somewhere deep down, you still do have that stupid hope that you were right. That you were actually fighting for something..." Roman gritted his teeth in annoyance, trying his best not to let a tear fall down his cheeks. Oliver chuckled. "We're more alike than I imagined..."
"Of course. No matter how different they are, monsters are still monsters." Roman's eyes became dead as he said this and he clenched his fists so hard his fingernails began to dig into his skin and make him bleed. Oliver laughed a dry and empty laugh. "Look at us...Me, talking to my former victim who I became obsessed with killing, about my life problems. You talking to the killer of your family about your life problems. Hahaha...Just look how fucked up we are?"
"You're not the killer of my family. The High Council is...and I am." Drops of blood spilled onto the floor as Roman just stared blankly in front of him. "None of that would've happened if we weren't sent there in the first place. It was the High Council's fault. They called the shots. They killed my family. I had the option to tell you...and I didn't. I also killed my family."
"So no, Oliver. You're not the only one here who needs to just die already." Roman pinned the other to the wall, his eyes burning with an extraordinary rage. "I am."
"No Roman...We both are." Oliver grabbed him by the throat and laughed. Roman then understood what he meant and frowned when he let him go. Roman only began to sob in his own hands. "Because we are traitors...we are monsters."
"And for us there's no better salvation than death..." Oliver sighed and Roman looked at the Faunus, who was just looking at the wall with a dead expression in his eyes. He put his hand on the other's shoulder. "I hope you get your salvation soon."
"Yeah...I hope you get yours soon too." Oliver only sighed but the both of them immediately jumped when they heard a familiar voice in front of them. Roman looked on in shock. He wasn't supposed to be here.
"I knew it..." James said and stormed out.
