Hi guys, I am finally back with another update! Thank you guys so much for reading and reviewing, it means a lot to me. Hope you like this next chapter. I'm going to be breaking the chapter cycle I have been following so I hope you don't mind.
Soda's POV
Darry said it would probably be best if I slept in my old room till Pony got his memory back cause he might feel uncomfortable with me sleeping with him. I was a little disappointed, but I would live.
I was just starting to get into bed when I heard a whimper coming from down the hall. That whimper was followed by an ear-piercing scream. Pony!
I raced down the hall and collided with Darry as we reached Pony's room. I quickly picked myself off the floor and threw the door open, running inside.
Ponyboy lay on the bed thrashing around and whimpering. I rushed over to the bed and sat down, pulling Pony into a sitting position and stroking his hair. Darry just stood in the doorway, wondering if he should come in or stay where he was.
"Ponyboy you need to wake up for me," I whispered in his ear.
It felt as if my heart had shattered when he flinched at my words. I forced back the tears that were forming in my eyes and concentrated on waking Pony. I gave him a little shake, but it didn't work. I looked over at Darry.
"Can you get me a wet cloth?" I asked.
"Sure," he said.
While Darry was getting that I rubbing my thumb over the worried crinkles on Pony's forehead. Darry came back a minute later and passed me the cloth. I help Ponyboy against my chest with one hand and with the other I rang out the water onto his face.
Pony's eyes sprang open and he shot off the bed with a gaps. He slid into a corner and hugged his knees to his chest, whimpering quietly. That worried me a little. I got off the bed and started for him, but what he did next made me stop. My baby brother raised his arms as if to ward off a blow.
"No!" he shouted.
I stood stalk still, looking down at the shivering form of my brother. I didn't know what to do. I felt like my heart was being torn in two. This was just so painful! I had never seen Pony act like this before and I didn't want to ever again.
"Pony calm down it's just me," I said soothingly.
"No, don't touch me! Don't hurt me!" he cried, burring his face in his knees.
I looked over at Darry to see the same pained expression I had. I turned back to Pony and raised my hands to show him I wasn't going to hurt him.
"I would never hurt you Ponyboy, I love you and so does Darry. We would never hurt you," I assured him.
Pony peeked his head up from his knees and looked at me. Tear stains traced down his pale cheeks and he was shaking like crazy. His lips trembled as he spoke.
"P-Please just…just leave me alone," he whimpered.
"Alright buddy, just calm down," I said.
I walked out of the room slowly and Darry followed, shutting the door behind him. As soon as we were out I let the tears spill down my face. I wrapped my arms around Darry's waist and buried my face in his chest. He rubbed the back of my head soothingly.
"It hurts so much Darry!" I cried.
"I know little buddy, I know. We're going to get through this, I promise," he said.
"It's just so hard! Why did this have to happen to Pony? He's just an innocent kid."
"Shhh, Soda it's alright."
It took about another ten minutes for me to get myself under control. When I had cleaned up my tear-stained face I walked back to my room and went to bed.
Well there it is. Please don't forget to review and this time I promise I am going to be spending more time on this story, pinky swear. Bye.
