Chapter 21
Alina - care to elaborate on Kristy's faults? I understand that the usual OC for Legolas is generally some girl who's really unusual or out there in some way, and Kristy's relatively normal. But as far as her not being good enough for him, I strongly disagree. There's no real fault in her, asides from her tendancy to be shy sometimes, and even then, since when has shyness been a fault? And as for the love at first sight being cliche, I'm completely aware. Like I said, that's how it happened in my dream, and I intend to remain faithful to it. :) And I hope you're not too mad about it, because like I said, Legolas and Kristy aren't going to be the main focus of the story, so it won't be a big deal later on.
And yes, I am doing an ENTIRE story from Collin's point of view. :) And let me tell you, I'm just tickled for it.
BUT! I do have one question for you guys before I write much more of his story.
What do you guys see when you think of Collin? In every way. Physical, even. What does he look like to you? What do you think goes on in his mind? I want to know everything, whether you say it in a review, or you message me. Because I know exactly how I see him, but I don't really know what he is to you guys, and I feel like since you guys love him so much, it's important to know how you feel about him more in depth before I go off on a crazy writing tangent.
Oh, and I fell in love with the Hanson drummer. Then I figured out he was married with kids, and I was majorly bummed for about five minutes. So I decided to go back to my elf-ear seller.
That is all. :) Thanks for the reviews everyone!
I don't own Lord of the Rings.
(Sophie)
"She has to be around here, somewhere!" I sighed as we searched all over Rivendell for Kristy. We, as in, James and I. Boromir had political stuff to do, and I think that we were both still getting over the initial shock of seeing each other again. We didn't really get to talk much, since I was immediately frozen after our reunion. But our reunion wasn't nearly as important as the reunion that we were seeking to create; the reunion of brother and sister, James and Kristy.
When James had found me, he was hardly able to contain his excitement in seeing me. I can't even begin to imagine the excitement that he'll have when he sees his long lost twin sister. He was searching Rivendell excitedly and with an extreme lack of patience; he did not know his way around the city, so for the most part, he was running around insanely, and his search was less than effective. I knew that Kristy liked to spend time in the gardens, so I quickly turned our path towards the gardens near the front of the city. Our search was cut short, however, with the arrival of an extremely missed friend.
Gandalf.
The old wizard flew over our heads. Literally. On the back of an eagle.
I nearly peed myself.
"Gandalf!" My eyes followed eagle, and I saw it land right next to Elrond's house. I had thought my friend to be dead, or at least missing in action; the sudden reappearance of the wizard threw me off and threw a horde of questions into my head. "I have to go see him." I turned to James, who was impatiently waiting for me to continue our search. "Sorry, James, but it looks like you're on your own. Just go check those gardens over there, she's bound to be in one of them!" I then turned and ran to the area where Gandalf landed, leaving my friend to fend for himself. But I wasn't too worried about him; in the past six years, he'd turned into quite the warrior, and I was sure that he could maneuver his way around a couple of courtyards.
When I reached the steps of Elrond's house, I was met by a small gathering: Elrond, Gandalf, Collin (he'd finally decided to wake up), and Glorfindel.
"Gandalf!" I rushed the wizard and gave him a gentle hug; he looked pretty beat up and fragile.
The wizard gave me a kind smile and returned my hug before pulling away. "I am overjoyed to see you and Collin well, I thought that you had perished against Saruman's orcs..."
"Saruman's orcs?" Elrond raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
Gandalf frowned and gave the elf lord a sorrowful nod. "Yes. Saruman has betrayed us... Is Frodo alright?"
Elrond seemed a bit thrown off and frightened by Gandalf's news, but he nodded, nonetheless. "Yes, he is due to wake up, soon... Come, let us get you cared for, and you can go see him. Then we must speak, and decide the next course of action..."
Elrond and Glorfindel led a limping Gandalf into the house, leaving Collin and I out on the steps.
"And then there were two..." Collin sighed, a happy tone in his voice. It made me so relieved to see my old friend back to his healthy, goofy self.
I smiled at him, happy to have him awake and alive by my side again. "I see you've finally decided to join the living."
Collin shrugged and smiled right back. "I had to pee."
Lovely.
"Well, you've picked a great day to wake up, because I've got a surprise for you."
His face lit up. "Oh, I like surprises!"
I grinned and took Collin's hand. "Come on, we've gotta go find it!"
(James)
I was going to have a nasty bruise on my arm in the morning. I'd been pinching myself ever since I found Sophie; how could my friends and sister be alive? They came out of nowhere and woke me up from my six year daze. I wasn't alone in this world - I was never alone.
I collided into a familiar princely form on my search for Kristy through the gardens.
"Legolas?" He looked extremely flustered, and his eyes opened wide when he saw me. "What's gotten into you?" The poor prince definately wasn't himself. I'd never seen him so... human?
Legolas seemed to snap back into reality, because he sent me his cool, familiar glare. "What do you mean, Adan?"
"Well, you kind of just looked like you saw a zombie..."
The elf frowned. "You're being ridiculous."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "No, I kind of just wanted to see if you were okay..."
"Who are you, my father? Stop interrogating me!" Legolas stormed off in the least elf-like manner I'd ever seen from him, and trust me... Legolas NEVER loses his cool... He's hiding something...
But like I care. He was probably just venting to the trees. That's the strangest thing about elves; they talk to trees.
Oh well.
I have more important things to worry about. I have a sister to see.
And then the most unmistakable musical hum rang in my ears.
Slowly, I made my way around a very large bush to the source of the melody, and the most beautiful sight came into my sights.
My sister.
She was humming away to an original tune, while drawing on some parchment with charcoal. It was such a familiar picture; she was always drawing and singing back home, under her favorite willow tree. And she was so beautiful... My sister had grown into such a woman, it brought tears to my eyes.
I watched her silently for a short while, unnoticed; Kristy always gets so lost in her music and art that the world often disappears around her. A smile slowly began to cross my lips as I slowly approached my sister.
"What are you drawing, there?"
Kristy's head shot up. Her bright green eyes opened wide as she stared at me.
"James?" She spoke in barely a whisper, and tears began to gather in her eyes.
I smiled and opened my arms to her. "Kristy..."
She threw her drawing to the side and ran into my arms, tears falling down her face. "James, you're here! You're alive!"
Tears fell from my own eyes as I held my darling sister in my arms. We both fell into a fit of laughter at the joy we both felt, and I never wanted to let her go. I felt like I actually belonged, now; I actually had my friends from my old world here with me, and more importantly, I had my sister.
I can't tell you how long we stood there, holding each other. We'd always been so close, and this sudden reunion just didn't feel real to either of us. It was amazing.
The second we pulled away from each other, I was attacked. Collin tackled me to the ground and proceeded to give me the noogie of a lifetime.
"Dude, look at your hair! It's sooooo fluffy!"
After six years of separation, I couldn't wish for a better greetings from Collin. I finally had my life back.
(Sophie)
"No..." I shook my head, not believing what I was hearing.
"It's true." James reassured me.
Kristy stared at her brother, eyes wide. "No!"
"Yes!" He insisted.
Collin's smile brightened and he nearly shot up from his seat on the grass. "James married a lady! An ELF lady! Huzzah!" He high-fived our friend in congratulations. "Not only that, but he's got a little elf child! Double huzzah!"
James smiled and rolled his eyes. We sat there in the gardens for hours, until it was nearly time for dinner. We would have sat there longer, but Collin wanted James to meet Aragorn, and when Collin wants something, there's no stopping him from getting it.
We strolled into the dining hall and were met by an even happier sight. Frodo.
"You're awake!" Kristy hugged the small hobbit, who had been standing by an old Bilbo near the banquet tables. "This day couldn't get any better!"
James begged to differ. "My daughter's middle name is Kristina, you know..."
Kristy cheered. "I stand corrected! This is officially the best day of my whole life!"
Bilbo, meanwhile, was studying James; he was always a very curious hobbit.
"Kristy, my dear..." He began, his eyes never leaving James. "Is this...?"
Kristy smiled and wrapped an arm around her brother. "Yepp! Bilbo, meet my brother, James. James, meet Bilbo and Frodo - my adopted uncle and brother. They took me in when I landed in Middle-earth."
James immediately dropped down and wrapped both hobbits into a tight hug. "I can't thank you enough for taking care of my sister..."
Bilbo pat the young man on the back and chuckled. "Kristy, I like your brother!"
Mr. Erestor decided to ruin the party, though, as he walked up with poop news.
"Collin, and you are James, I presume? Elrond would like to speak with the two of you before dinner."
Collin frowned. "Goodness, Erestor, you always ruin the moment."
The advisor gave him a slight shrug before striding off. Collin took James by the arm and dragged him out of the hall.
"Come on, James! This means that we're important!"
(James)
"Why are we invited, again?" I asked the elf lord. I was slightly surprised that Collin and I, of all people, had recieved a personal invitation to the council tomorrow.
"Because, you two might be from another world, but this is your home, now." Elrond paced the room. "Gandalf told me that Collin was unaffected by the ring when it was found. Evidently, you called it ugly and threw it into the fire?"
Collin shrugged. "It's just a circle. I mean, if you're going to create a ring of power, at least throw some diamonds in there..."
Elrond raised an eyebrow at my odd friend. "Interesting... Well, according to your friends, you are both very reliable and trustworthy men. I find it only fair to include you in the council."
"So... We're gonna have to destroy it, won't we?" Collin asked.
The elf lord nodded. "It is the only way."
My friend looked to be in serious thought for a short moment, but he eventually burst into giggles.
"This place is weird..."
Elrond sighed and waved Collin away. "That is all, you may return to dinner."
I don't know how Collin is going to act during the council, but I'm certain that it's going to be a sight to see.
Short chapter, yeah. But the next chapter's gonna be really long. I'm sorry it took so long to update, I had a lot of essays to write for school. :P Anyways, please review!
