Tower Part Three

Raven later found Kyd cuddled rather cat-like in her room. Of all the places. She narrowed her eyes at him.

Come on Raven. Don't tell me you're not happy to see a half-naked man in your bed. Kyd said wiggling his eyebrows at her.

"I'll tell you as soon as I see a man in my bed." Raven bit.

Kyd grabbed his chest in mock agony. Right in the male ego! He exclaimed.

Raven rolled her eyes at him. "Get out Kyd. It's been a long irritating day and I'd like to sleep it all away." She said.

Kyd padded a space next to him. There's enough space for two. He said.

Raven's glare intensified.

Finally intimidated, Kyd crawled slowly and cautiously out of the bed. With a meek yet amused expression on his face he circled an area of carpet and curled down onto it like a cat.

Good night. He yawned.

Raven rolled her eyes and went to bed. "Goodnight." She murmured.

Kyd smiled faintly.

….

Raven woke up in the middle of the night to a wild thrashing on her floor. Alarmed, she looked over the edge of her bed and was surprised to see Kyd struggling wildly in his sleep, his still bare chest slick with sweat. He was moving his lips rapidly, as if he were saying something, but no sound came out.

Raven glided quickly over to him and shook his shoulders slightly. "Kyd" she said.

He had stopped thrashing but his face still contorted in fear.

"Kyd Wykkyd." Raven repeated with a firmer shake.

There was still no response. Raven tried one last tactic. "Elliot."

His eyes flew open and the next thing Raven knew he was hugging her in a firm shaky embrace, his breathing harsh and uneven.

You're okay. I-I thought-

"Whatever you saw wasn't real." Raven said after she overcame her initial shock. "It was all a dream. We're okay now."

Kyd didn't let go of her until his breathing calmed down. Then he held her at arms pace and smiled before looking down sheepishly.

Sorry I woke you up. He apologized.

Raven shrugged away his apology and climbed back into bed. Before she fell asleep again she looked over to Kyd. He looked like he was scared to sleep again.

Raven rolled her eyes and swallowed her pride. She patted the space next to her. "There's room for two." She offered.

Kyd turned to her with a look of disbelief before his mouth widened into a grin. Quick as a flash he slipped in bed a respectable distance away from her in that feline like manner of his.

Good night. He said.

Raven didn't hear him though. She was already asleep.

….

When the Titans were finally able to enter the Tower the next morning Starfire was recruited to wake the sleeping demoness up. She discovered them still sleeping. Raven curled up in his chest and his arms securely around her. Starfire was a bit confused as to why she would be sleeping in such an intimate position with an enemy but concluded it was just another strange Earth custom.

Nonetheless she didn't wake them, opting instead for gently closing the door and drifting back to the common room. She reported that her friend was in the deepest of sleeps she'd ever seen since the Great Sleep of Tameran, which wasn't far from the truth. What was far from the truth was that she hadn't seen the teleporting villain in the tower.

She privately decided she would confront Raven about it at a later date.

Dear fans,

I have no idea how to say this. My computer privileges have been revoked. This was written on my brother's laptop while he's at a church meet. As far as he knows, he turned his computer off. There will be few updates.

I remember when I was starting out some people gave me ideas I didn't write about. Mr. War, Mypthe, and others, don't worry. I haven't forgotten.

Stay strong and be patient,

Psyche.
