mint: Weeeeeeee! Hello everyone! Did you miss me? Sorry for the long wait.

Thank you for all your lovely reviews! I read all of them don't worry. Yeah, I can't think of anything else to say really. I apologize in advance if some of the characters ended up a little bit OOC.

Once again, this chapter is unbetaed.

Disclaimer: Vampire Knight is not mine

A glance at the orange-hued light peeking through the thick drapes informed Kaname that the sun was about to set, a little too early for his liking especially after what he ha and Zero had done last night (morning in human perspective). He idly looked and smiled at his sleeping mate whose silver hair was sprawled out in his dark bed making him look more like an angel rather than a creature of the night. He was sure nothing could alleviate his good mood but was proven wrong when he glanced at the balcony window, more specifically, the floor in front of it. He swiftly wore a clean robe and glided to the balcony, all the while frowning at the piece of envelope on the floor. Kaname was sure it was not his as he always kept his room neat.

The pureblood took the envelope and opened it. Inside was only a piece of paper but Kaname had to stop himself from growling once he read its contents for fear of waking his tired mate.

My nephew,

The carrier will be mine. Come alone.

I'm waiting.

The message did not state the name of the sender but Kaname knew all too well who wrote it. He only had one uncle after all. The letter proved to be problematic for it can be interpreted in many ways. One thing is for sure, his authority was being challenged and that doesn't sit well with him. He needed to kill his dearest uncle once and for all.

"Seiren," Kaname whispered and the girl landed swiftly on the balcony, the heavy drapes hiding her from the pureblood's eyes.

"Guard Zero,"

"Nghh,"

Zero rubbed the sleep out of his eyes as he tried to recover his senses. It took a minute for him though to recognize that he was not in his room and that the bed he was on was not his. His body shoot up in alarm and Zero bit back a curse at the sudden pain that shot up from his lower back. Memories of his and his mate's previous activities came rushing back to his brain making his cheeks burn slightly. Mate, the word still sounds weird in his ears.

Speaking of mate…

"Kaname?"

Zero let his eyes travel around the room but there was no sign of his mate except for his lingering scent.

"Where the hell is that guy?!" He snarled with a hint of worry in his tone.

He flopped back to the bed and released a deep sigh. Worrying would do him nothing. Zero knew Kaname could take care of himself and he wouldn't leave him… right? Zero inwardly cursed at his newly-mated mind for bringing up such ridiculous thoughts. He ruggedly scratched his head in annoyance as if his thoughts would go away in the process but stopped at seeing his wrist. Instead of the single rose insignia, a pair of roses was staring back at him reminding him once more that he was mated to his once enemy, Kuran Kaname.

His eyes hardened, "That's it! If he thinks I'm going to sit here and wait like an obedient house wife then he can go to hell!"

Zero stood up once again with a little wince and saw an opened letter in the side drawer.

"Hn?"

He scooted out of the bed and grabbed the letter uncaring of his state of undress. Zero let out a frown. He almost shot out the door but managed to calm himself and actually think ahead. He needed to inform the others. But first, a quick shower would do him good.

After his shower, Zero quickly called the maids to gather the rest of Kaname's inner circle. Since Kaname wasn't around, the authority of the dorm leader which was normally transferred to Ichijou, was now transferred to him so everything happened pretty quick. Unfortunately for Zero, the first thing that was said in that meeting was nothing short of embarrassing.

"So, how's your back Zero-sama?" Aidou unabashedly grinned.

The reaction was instantaneous. Ruka smacked the blonde in the head, Kain sighed at his cousin's stupidity, Ichijou tried to smile but ended up in a grimace, Rima and Shiki remained neutral and if looks could kill, Aido would have dropped dead at Zero's glare. The carrier fingers were actually twitching towards his gun but shooting a vampire was still against school rules. Maybe outside the school then.

"Ow, what was that for?!"

"Now's not the time," Ruka said through gritted teeth.

Zero let Kaname's inner circle to regain their bearings before dropping the bomb. "Kaname's missing,"

That made them attentive.

"I don't know where Kaname is as our bond is new and weak but I found this," He held the letter in front of them before reading it out loud.

"That's definitely him," Ichijou growled quietly.

"The question is, does anybody here know where they might be?"

The group fell into a deep silence.

"I do," Shiki suddenly said.

Everyone looked at Shiki with surprise.

"It could only be at Kaname-sama's former home. It has to be a place where both of them know and would immediately think of. I am sure Kaname-sama had never once stepped in our house so it could only be that," That was the longest Shiki had ever spoke, to Zero's memory. His speech also brought a certain information that all of them nearly forgot. After all, it wasn't a commonly spoken fact that Senri Shiki is the cousin of Kuran Kaname.

"Do you know where it is?" The carrier asked.

"Yes Zero-sama,"

"Then, everyone get ready, we're going there as soon as possible,"

"Wait Zero-sama, it said to 'come alone'. Is it really alright to go there?" Ruka asked.

Zero smirked before saying, "The letter said to come alone but it never said anything about letting others follow."

Damn, the pureblood was rubbing off of him.

Kaname stared at the abandoned house in front of him. It's been a while since he last stepped inside the boundaries of the building. When his parents died, he had left the house in order to take care of the Kuran family and never bothered going back. The building, though still beautiful showed the effects of abandonment; the shrubbery once trimmed and green was crawling over the paint-chipped walls as if swallowing the house whole. He never bothered having anyone to maintain the place for he wanted to remember Juri and Haruka Kuran when they were alive and well not when and where they were killed.

Now he has to enter it once more to see the same vampire that last defiled this home's halls. Blood will be spilt again but he will make sure this would be the last time his so-called 'uncle' will ruin his family.

Kaname slowly entered the rust gate and walked towards the house. He needed to do something with it as well. Maybe he could renovate it? Live here with Zero? Too much painful memories though. Maybe he could give it to Yuuki. Or he could also ask his mate's opinion.

Opening the door to the estate, he was quickly greeted with a familiar voice, "Ah here he is,"

Kaname says nothing and calmly closes the door behind him. Rido Kuran was there sitting at the bottom of the house's grand staircase with expensive furs sprawled beneath him. His ever loyal assistant, Akechi Seibei was there at his side, naturally.

"Tell me Kaname, is it really wise to come here on your own?" Rido asks.

"…"

"You do realize that I'm not alone. I'm sure you can sense them, the army of level Es outside that I have created these past few weeks,"

"…"

"Do you honestly think you can take all of us? Pureblood or not, it would be hard you know," Rido Kuran said with a smug tone.

"Who said I was alone?" That wiped the smirk off his face.

"You're lying. I had you followed!"

"Oh that. I wanted to kill him at first but I figured you would retaliate badly so I decided to let him be."

"What are you hiding?" Rido asked between gritted teeth.

"You said come alone. You never specified about anyone following me is there?" Kaname smirked.

Rido quickly launched himself at his nephew in a fit of rage and in a blink of an eye was beside him, his claws in the place where Kaname's head was a moment ago.

"You think you're so clever nephew…" Rido looked at Kaname's form behind him.

"I don't think I'm clever uncle. I know so," The smug tone can be clearly heard from Kaname's voice.

Rido didn't like that at all.

"You filthy brat!"

With furious eyes, he snapped his fingers once as a signal which was followed by the deafening sound of breaking glass. Level Es entered the broken windows launching themselves all at once to Kaname's standing figure, their claws out and eyes red, hungry for blood.

mint: Sorry, it's rather short. The end is coming, can you feel it?
