Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you guys know that tomorrow (Sunday) is the one year anniversary for this story! Isn't that awesome?
knightrid3r: Yeah. I thought I should clear that up since a bunch of people were like, "why did you make Sarah sound like a whore!?" LOL! But I love the parallels between this universe and the Chuck universe because I feel like acting is just like being a spy. You have new identities with every job and there's a lot of secrecy, traveling, etc with the job.
thekiller00: I love Beckman to death! I just couldn't make her too evil.
tw200: I hope you still think I'm a good storyteller after this chapter. Not one of my best.
sevenrez: I'm glad I got to show a 'nicer' side of Shaw. Let's see how long that lasts.
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of Chuck as Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz are the gods of their creation and Warner Brothers hasn't put up the brand for sale.
Two months have passed and Sarah was well into filming for her movie and Chuck and his family would be coming to visit soon. And, even though it was hot and musty on set and in Gold Coast, the Christmas spirit was still in the air. As filming started and Chuck's tour picked up momentum, she and he didn't really get a lot of time to talk. So a lot of their conversations took place on Twitter and remained shallow and delayed. It wasn't the best, but it was something.
Waking up the next morning after a long day of filming, Sarah was actually excited. It was the day that Chuck was flying in, plus, the producers had given her a day off so she could help Chuck get settled in and show him around. She and Casey were going to the airport to pick him and Morgan up and bring them back to the movie set where they'll stay at the same hotel for a few days before they made the drive up to Brisbane for interviews and the two shows. And since it was around Christmas time, the producers also allowed for her to have the week between Christmas and New Year's off so she could spend that time with Chuck, Ellie, Awesome, Morgan, and even Casey and Alex. Casey's daughter had gotten some time off to join in on the 'Outback Adventures,' as Chuck called it. But for the entire first week, she had Chuck all to herself.
Getting dressed and ready, Sarah made her way down to the lobby where Casey was waiting for her, the car ready outside. She hopped in and they began the hour and a half drive all the way to Gold Coast. As they got closer, Sarah was buzzing with excitement but tried to keep a neutral face for Casey's sake.
"Would you shut up?" he grunted as they merged onto the Pacific Motorway.
"I didn't say anything," she stated.
"Not out loud. But I can hear your excitement at seeing your boy toy and the unusual amount of lady feelings is disgusting." Sarah rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, Casey."
When they arrived at the airport twenty minutes later, Sarah practically flew out of the car toward the baggage claim. After locating the correct carousel, she searched the area but found no one she could recognize. When she spun around to face the escalator, her eyes brightened and her smile widened. There, with a duffel bag slung over his shoulder, his bearded best friend standing behind him, was Chuck Bartowski. She watched as he scanned the room, giving it a once over before his eyes settled on her and he broke out into his famous Bartowski grin. He all but ran down the last few steps, the already forward motion of the escalator giving him a boost. He was in front of her in seconds, his arms wrapping around her waist as hers rounded his neck, meeting him for the hug. When they pulled away, she placed her hands on either side of his face and kissed him.
"I missed you," he breathed once they had separated.
"I missed you, too." They touched foreheads and simply took in the sight of each other, happy to be looking into the other's eyes in person and not across a computer screen.
Their moment, however, was interrupted by a flash. When they looked over, they saw a group of teenage girls with their cameras, freaking out over the 'Charah' moment. "Maybe we should get my bags before everyone finds out we're here and the paparazzi show up," Chuck said. His face scrunched up in question. "Do they have paparazzi in Australia?" Sarah rolled her eyes at her boyfriend's question and stepped away from him, moving to greet Morgan who was already searching for their luggage on the spinning carousel.
"Hey Morgan," she greeted.
"Sarah!" They hugged. "How's filming?"
"Great. You guys showed up just in time to see us film the pit scene. We've been working the choreography and the blocking since we first got here and now, we get to actually see it run for the cameras."
"That sounds awesome!"
"What about you? How's life as a manager on the road?"
Morgan shook his head. "Busy. Definitely busy."
"Well, hopefully you'll have some time to relax while you're here." They retrieved all of Chuck and Morgan's bags and made their way out to where Casey was waiting by the car. They loaded the trunk with the luggage and then piled in, this time, Morgan up front and Chuck and Sarah in the back. "How was Sydney?" she asked the two boys in general. Casey had already pulled away from the terminal door and was heading toward the motorway.
"It was amazing!" Morgan exclaimed. "The crowd was huge and the fans were awesome. They knew every one of my best buddy's songs and it was so great."
"Yeah. I wish you were there to see it," Chuck added, buzzing with the same energy that Morgan had. His, however, was more controlled. She could only tell by the way his eyes shined.
"Well, I'll be there for your performances in Brisbane. I still have to work for the next week but they gave me all of next week off to spend with you and your family," she smiled. Chuck lifted a hand and tucked a strand of Sarah's golden locks behind her ear.
"Hey," he said softly. "They're your family now, too." He sent her a small smile that she returned.
The rest of the ride was relatively silent, Casey and Morgan not really having much to talk about in the front and Chuck and Sarah reveling in being together again after so long. The couple was cuddled together as best as they could be with their seatbelts on.
By the time they made it back to the movie set, Chuck was asleep, snoring into the top of Sarah's head. She, on the other hand, was wide-awake, leaning into her boyfriend's embrace. When Casey pulled into a parking spot, she leaned up and placed a kiss on his mouth, waking him. "We're here," she said softly. He sat up straighter and looked out the window. Sarah bit her lip to keep from laughing at how childlike he looked.
Eventually, they all made their way out of the car and into the hotel so that Chuck and Morgan could check into their rooms. They had originally booked two separate rooms for the whole two weeks but since Chuck had decided to stay in her room, they didn't need the second one. They still took the room, however, for when Ellie, Devon, and Alex came. Until then, Morgan reasoned that they could use it as a recording studio. And, because they had recording equipment and Chuck's tech savvy skills, a 'home studio' was built and ready to go within the hour. As the nerdy musician worked, Sarah found herself unable to tear her eyes away from him, entranced by her boyfriend's other talent.
"What?" he asked, jarring her from her thoughts.
"What?" she repeated slightly confused. She blinked. Chuck chuckled and made his way over to her, standing in front of her as she remained sitting on the edge of the bed, one foot tucked under her and the other hanging off. He smirked slightly in an uncharacteristic smugness.
"You were staring."
"No I wasn't," she denied.
"You were. You totally were." He gasped. "You were checking me out."
Her cheeks felt hot and she was sure that her body had betrayed her as she blushed. "So what if I was?" she asked in a sultry voice to try and turn the table on him. "I have a handsome boyfriend that looks totally hot when he does something that he loves." He raised an eyebrow.
"Is that so?" He leaned down so that their faces were mere inches apart.
"Absolutely."
"Well then why don't we head back to our room and I can really do something that I love." Now, it was Sarah's turn to raise an eyebrow.
"Why, Mr. Bartowski," she said. "I quite like that idea."

Sarah woke up, maybe a couple of hours later, her naked body wrapped around Chuck's. He was still asleep, snoring slightly. Sarah scooted closer, pressing their bodies together and Chuck unconsciously tightened his arm around her. She replayed what they had done in her head over and over again, blushing at some of the things. Then, she replayed the moment before they practically stumbled into her hotel room.
Well then why don't we head back to our room and I can really do something that I love, Chuck had said. She had thought, at the moment, that he meant he loved sex but now, remembering the way he looked at her, she realized that he meant that he loved her. He wanted to do something he loved. Then they went on to 'do the horizontal mambo' as Casey would put it. He definitely did her all right. He did her over and over and over again. She tilted her head up to look at the man beside her and she had to admit, the slight stubble that he had made him unbelievably sexy. Though, she still preferred his fresh-faced look. She didn't like the way it scratched her hands and cheek whenever she held him or he kissed her face.
She kissed the base of his neck and that seemed to wake him up. "Hi there," she giggled as he blinked the sleep from his eyes.
"Hi," he mumbled in response. "How long were we out for?" Sarah sat up, taking the sheets with her.
"I'm not too sure," she said. "Probably a couple of hours."
"Seriously?" He sat up as well and pulled her back into him so that they were cuddled against the headboard of the bed.
"Seriously." She placed her head on his shoulder and rested her hand on his stomach, just in time to feel it rumbled. She giggled. "Hungry?" She looked up at him and smiled at the blush on his cheeks.
"A little," he admitted. She scrambled away from him and grabbed the hotel phone and the room service menu.
"What are you hungry for?" she asked as she settled back into his side and opened the menu. Kissing the top of her head, Chuck looked over the menu before settling on the shrimp fettuccini alfredo. Sarah put in two orders of the dish and a bottle of pinot blanc.
As they ate, now clad in their underwear, Sarah noticed Chuck staring at her and she raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Nothing."
"What is it Chuck?"
"Nothing!"
"Like I'll believe that. You're staring at me."
"I just… I don't know. I love looking at you."
"Is that so?"
"Yes."
"Well my view isn't so bad over here either." They sent each other another smile before finishing their food, leaving the tray outside, and then getting dressed so that Sarah could give Chuck a tour of the set before it started to get dark.
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
"That over there is our training pit. We learn the choreography and practice the fight scenes over there," Sarah pointed out. "I practically live there with all of the fight scenes that I have to do."
"Do I get to watch you do a fight scene?" Chuck asked, actually excited to see the magic. As much as he loved music and that industry, he'd always been really interested in directing movies and television.
"Yes, you do. I'm actually finally filming the pit scene over there." She pointed to a structure that looked like a crime lord's throne, which overlooked a wooden pit that held fights to the death. Chuck could feel his smile growing in anticipation.
"I can't wait."
"Neither can I. This is the biggest fight scene of the whole movie. We've been preparing for it since we got here."
"Then I really can't wait."
The couple walked around for a bit longer, stopping to rest at the line of directors' chairs. They sat in silence, hands intertwined, until someone cleared their throat behind them. They both craned their necks to find Daniel Shaw standing there. "Hi," he said. Chuck stood up and gave a smile. He knew from Sarah that the man before him was a quiet, superman type. He figured, by the way that Sarah tensed up beside him that they, despite the months of filming together, still weren't on the best of terms. But, Chuck was a genuinely nice guy so he figured he'd actually try to be friends with the guy.
"Hi!" he greeted, holding a hand out. "I'm Chuck. You must be Daniel, right?"
"I am," was his response, taking Chuck's hand and shaking it twice.
"Nice to meet you."
"You, too."
"Uh, Daniel," Sarah cut in. "Is there something you needed?"
"Yes. The director said that you should get a good night's sleep. You have a long day tomorrow." She nodded.
"Alright. We were just heading to the hotel." They nodded in farewell but Chuck could sense that it was more out of courtesy than amiability.
The walk back to the hotel was a silent one. The silence wasn't like it was before: comfortable. This one was tenser but it was also awkward because there was nothing tense between the two of them. He squeezed her hand and could feel the rest of her body relax, dissolving the feeling.
"What was that about?" he asked once they were Sarah's hotel room, changing into their pajamas. He figured he should just let it go but he wanted to know and since they were in private, it would take the pressure off and allow her to open up to him.
"What?"
"Earlier, you and Daniel. I thought you guys were friends."
"Not friends. More like… acquaintances." The two of them were now in the bathroom, brushing their teeth together, tandem style. It was something new to Chuck and he liked it.
"Really? I thought that by now the cast and crew would be like family. You know, like the way it is on tour?"
"Oh, don't get me wrong. The rest of the cast and crew is like family. Daniel is just very… detached. I told you he was the quiet type but he never really goes to the outings or anything that we have planned for the cast and crew. So, he's not as close to everyone as the rest of us are." By this point they were both climbing into bed, scooting toward the middle so that they could cuddle before drifting off to sleep.

The next morning, Chuck woke up to a rustling in the bathroom. He looked up at the clock on the side table and grimaced at the time. 5:06 am. He squinted toward the light in the bathroom to see Sarah standing at the sink, fixing her hair into a messy bun. Sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Chuck called out Sarah's name. It came out as more of a grunt or a groan as his vocal cords still refused to wake up fully. Sarah came out of the bathroom at the sound.
"Oh!" she said, a slightly surprised expression on her face. "You're awake."
"Yeah," he replied, his voice still gravelly and rough. "Where are you heading?"
"I'm going for a run to get my blood pumping. Then I'm headed to rehearsals so that the by the time the sun is higher in the sky, we can start filming."
"Oh."
"I didn't mean to wake you up. You can go back to sleep and I'll have Casey bring you down when you're ready." Chuck nodded. As much as he wanted to spend every waking moment with Sarah while he was there, he was exhausted. This could very well be his only chance to sleep in since he started the tour.
"Alright. See you later," he mumbled before collapsing back on the bed. He barely registered the kiss she placed on his temple before blacking out again.
Chuck didn't come to again until around half past eight to a loud pounding on the room door. The musician stumbled out of bed and opened the door to an angry looking John Casey. "Can I help you?" he asked, sleep still present in his voice. The bigger man seemed to growl.
"Thought you'd like to know that your girlfriend is about to start filming in case you wanted to watch," he answered. Chuck blinked once before waking up fully.
"Oh! Right! Of course!" He stammered. "Let me, uh… Let me just get dressed really quick." Casey grunted before announcing that he'd be waiting in the lobby. Chuck quickly changed into a T-shirt that had a floppy disk on it that had 'my entire life' written on the label, a pair of his faded blue jeans, and his signature black high top Chuck Taylors. Grabbing his phone and wallet, he headed out to the lobby where Morgan was also waiting with Casey. "Hey," he greeted.
Casey simply grunted and stood, walking out the door to a four-seater golf cart. "Dude," Morgan said, excitement in his eyes, as they climbed into the back of the golf cart. "I'm so excited to see Sarah kick some ass. Like, it's so great on screen but now, we get to see the magic being made!"
"I know! It'll be so awesome, Buddy." They pulled up to the pit where the entire crew was setting up around the pit. Chuck scanned the scene and caught a flash of blonde hair. The body attached to it was sitting on a director's chair, looking down as though she were on her phone. He smiled. The moment Casey stopped the cart, he hopped off and made his way to her. "Sarah!" he called. Much to his surprise, the answer came from behind him. He spun around on his heel so fast that he nearly lost his balance. His girlfriend had to steady him. Chuck's eyes went wide and looked between the Sarah in front of him and the Sarah on the chair. "Wha-?" Sarah laughed.
"Alisa!" she called. The woman on the chair turned around and stood up, walking over. It was crazy. The woman looked so much like Sarah from behind. "Chuck, meet Alisa, my stunt double. She doubles for me for practically every action film I do."
"Not that I do many of the stunts," Alisa quipped. She held out a hand which Chuck took and gave it a good shake.
Sarah laughed before continuing the introduction. "Alisa, this is my boyfriend, Chuck."
"Ahhh… So you're Chuck."
"Ah… Yeah. Yeah, I am." She gave him an appraising nod before taking a step closer. Before he knew it, she had him by the collar and was dangerously close to his face.
"Take care of her," she warned, the protectiveness prevalent in her voice. Chuck nodded as best he could.
"Y-Yes ma'am," he gulped. When Alisa released him, she shot another smile before heading back to her chair. Chuck blinked, which caused Sarah to laugh once more.
"Don't worry about it, Chuck. She's just poking fun. Besides, she knows I can handle myself."
"Good… Good to know." She leaned up and placed a kiss on his cheek before taking a step back, their hands entwined. It was then that Chuck got a good glimpse of her outfit. She was in a black tank top and dark grey shorts that looked almost green. Her ankles were wrapped to about mid-calf and her feet were wrapped around the arches; her hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail. "You look… really badass. Like. Beautifully dangerous."
"That's what the designers were going for," she smiled. "Come with me. I still have to get my hands wrapped."
It took forever. Chuck watched as the wardrobe designer wrapped Sarah's hand with sports wrap and then follow up with rope. The wrap itself was fairly quick but the rope took forever. It was maybe half an inch in diameter and the fact that it had to cover her hands and practically her entire forearm… watching it circle and encase her arms was hypnotizing. He actually had to look away at one point because he felt dizzy. By the time Sarah was ready, they headed down to the set where the stunt coordinators were going over the blocking and choreography once more. Chuck positioned himself under the shade of the tent with the writers, producers, and director, behind the monitors. "Are we good?" Robert Duncan McNeil called out to the crew. He knew who the director was. Robert was one of his favorite directors. The man was artistic as hell when it came to film and television.
"We're ready!" one of the crewmembers called back.
"Alright. Roll camera," the director called
"Camera rolling," a man from the camera team called back.
"Marker." One of the assistant camera operators came out and held the slate in front of the lens. "Scene thirty-two, take one. And Action!" Chuck watched on the monitors as Sarah and her opponent circled each other, determination on both their faces. Then, They both attacked, Sarah aiming low and her opponent aiming high. The two went at it, the choreography that was drilled into their minds taking over as the fight progressed. They finished the scene with Sarah standing over the 'limp' body of her opponent. "Cut! Fantastic!" Robert beamed. "Reset. I want camera in position two. We'll run it from the top." By the time he stopped talking, Sarah was already under the tent beside him, leaning over to catch the replay of her scene on the monitors. "Great job, Sarah. As always."
Sarah, slightly out of breath, simply nodded her thanks. Someone handed her a bottle of water and she chugged the whole thing down. "What did you think?" she asked Chuck as she recapped the now empty bottle.
"Amazing. You're so amazing. I knew you were amazing but that was just–"
"Amazing?" Sarah finished, her eyes sparkling.
"Yeah." She chuckled before turning to the other men in the tent.
"Robbie, Chris, Josh, this is my boyfriend, Chuck," she introduced. "Chuck, this is–"
"Robert Duncan McNeil, Chris Fedak, and Josh Schwartz," Chuck continued. "I know. I'm a huge fan. You have no idea how huge of a fan I am." Josh and Robert laughed but Chris simply blinked. The man gave him an appraising look before looking at Sarah with an unbelieving look.
"Are you kidding me?" he asked.
"What?" Sarah replied.
"Him! He's perfect! He's the kind of guy I was looking for!" Chuck blinked confused.
"Okay, one: Chuck doesn't really act. Two: he's on tour so he couldn't do it anyway. And three: there are plenty of guys in Hollywood with his kind of build."
"Like who?"
"What about Stephen Pollak?"
"He's shooting that one show about a nerd getting sucked into the spy world. Brody."
"Oh. Well, it's too late now."
"Wait," Chuck cut in. "What are you guys talking about?"
"The leading male for the movie. I originally envisioned someone like you: a guy that looked like he could hold his own when necessary but preferred to work with a team. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone that met my standards so we changed the script to make it fit with Daniel Shaw's build." Chuck nodded in understanding.
"Oh. Well, like Sarah said, you wouldn't want me. When it comes to films, I'm more of a 'behind-the-scenes' kind of guy," he said. And it was true. Sure he'd done a small acting stint in school when he played Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof but after that, it just didn't work out. He wasn't that great at pretending. Just look at what happened between him and Sarah and their supposed fake relationship.
"Speaking of behind-the-scenes," Robert cut in. "They're ready for another take so…"
"Right," Sarah said. She leaned up to give Chuck a quick kiss before heading to the makeup artist so that they could fix her makeup so that it looked the way it did at the beginning of the scene.
They went through the whole 'pre-shooting' dialogue before filming again and they redid the scene until the sun started to go down.
"Cut!" Robert called. "Great job everyone! Let's call it a day." As Sarah came to the tent, Robert stood from his chair and opened his arms for a hug, despite her sweaty state. "Great job today, Sarah. Call it in early tonight. We're going to go over the compound breach scene tomorrow and I don't want you looking too tired. Got it?"
"Of course." Robert turned to Chuck.
"Make sure she goes straight to bed tonight," he said. Chuck nodded before placing a guiding hand on Sarah's back and leading her to the golf cart where Casey and Morgan were waiting.
"Sarah!" Morgan cried as they neared. "You were so awesome! I mean, I knew you were super badass but man fifty-seven takes back to back with breaks only for water. Man. You're a freaking superhero!" Sarah laughed.
"Thank you, Morgan."
"My best friend is dating a superhero. Hey, if you get offered a role as The Lady Thor, please accept it. Or Captain Marvel. Either one, really."
Sarah laughed again as she climbed onto the back of the golf cart. "Alright Morgan. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for the opportunity."
The bearded man fist pumped with a sharp "yes!" before settling in the front seat beside Casey, a grin as wide as the Cheshire cat's.
"I think you just made his life," Chuck whispered conspiratorially, his own grin on his lips. Sarah smiled widely before placing a quick kiss on his lips.
When they reached the hotel, Sarah opted for a bath while Chuck hopped in the shower. They both agreed that cleaning up separately would get them into bed and asleep quicker. By the time they were cuddled under the covers, both were exhausted, even though Chuck didn't do much but watch all day. Though, seeing Sarah run a fight scene over and over and over was exhausting in itself. He knew that they had to have their discussion about what to do with Graham. However, he was tired and he could only figure how tired Sarah was. So, resolving to have their much-needed talk some other time, Chuck simply placed a soft kiss on the top of Sarah's head before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.
And there you have it!
