Hey, everyone. Here is the next chapter for you all. I hope you all enjoy it. There is only ONE chapter after this and that will be the last chapter. I'm sorry for my delay in writing but I've gone through some medical things and I've been dealing with some dodgy emotions lately. I've perked up though and here is the next chapter. I really hope you enjoy this chapter and I'd love to know what you think of it. Enjoy and I look forward to hearing from you all.
I have two ideas but I'd like to know which one you would all prefer me to do after I finish this.
1. Reid and Henry swap bodies after being cursed by a witch at a carnival. Reid is trapped in Henry's body and frustrated at being unable to do adult things. Henry struggles with being in an adult body and JJ has to comfort her son while he's trapped in Reid's body.
2. Reid gets taken hostage by an unsub who drives to a prison hundreds of miles away to free someone. On the way, Reid tries to warn people and get help but gets tortured along the way.
It's up to you and I'd love to know in the comments which one you would prefer. Sorry for long author's note.
Thank you so much for all the reviews, you're absolutely brilliant and wonderful. Thank you!
Enjoy and please review
All mistakes are my own
Reid grinned happily as he clinked his glass of soda against Morgan's beer bottle.
"I knew you would do it, pretty boy," Morgan smiled before taking a sip of his beer. "I feel bad for drinking this in front of you."
"Don't be," Reid said. "You deserve a beer after all the training you've given me. Besides, being on medication means no alcohol. I still can't believe that I completed and passed on my own. It feels like I should wake up."
"You did a great job," Morgan smiled. "Now, you can come with us on the jet and back into the field. Just remember that it is me who kicks down the doors."
"I doubt Hotch will let me into the field much," Reid shrugged. "I see the way the way that you all look at me. You all think I'm going to break into a million pieces."
"I think we all have good reason to worry about you."
One week later
As Spencer drove to work, he smiled at how clear the roads were. A perk of getting up nice and early and way before the rush hour. Morgan was spending the day training new agents at the academy. As he turned the corner, his head began to hurt. He shook his head and concentrated back on the road. He gasped as a sudden rush of images filled his mind.
"You're Dr Reid," a young man said.
His hands becoming covered with blood as he held them around the young boy's wrists. "Where are the medics?!"
"No, let me go."
"I'm not going to let you die."
No, he wasn't just any young man. Nathan Harris was the young boy's name.
He gasped as the images stopped. As he came back to awareness, he grabbed the wheel and panicked as he hit the curb. He grunted as he collided with the tree. His seat belt caught him as he flew forward but failed to stop him smashing his head on the steering wheel. Darkness filled his vision as his car horn continued to blare around him.
Hotch entered the office to find himself the first one into work. As he opened his office door, his cellphone began to ring. Hotch brought the phone out of his pocket and answered the call. "Hello."
"Is this Aaron Hotchner?" a young woman's voice came down the phone.
"It is, how can I help you today?"
"I'm calling about a Dr Spencer Reid. He's been brought into the hospital after being involved in a car accident. You're listed as his medical contact."
Hotch dropped his briefcase. "What hospital?"
Hotch rushed into the hospital and to the nurse's station. The entire journey to the hospital had been filled with difficulty. His mind flashed back to Reid when he'd been shot. To all the time they had spent worrying about Reid and if he would make it. A nurse looked up as he stood at the desk. "I'm Aaron Hotchner, I'm looking for Spencer Reid. He was in a car accident."
"I've got this, Jackie," a doctor said as he walked over. "I'm Dr Marson. I treated Spencer when he came in."
"Is he okay?"
"He sustained a concussion and a large laceration to his forehead but he'll be fine. He's being woken up every hour. He has some bruising to his chest and a fractured wrist. He also has some bruising to his face. If I'm comfortable with his condition later today, you can take him home. Wearing his seat belt saved him from much more severe injuries."
"What about his back?" Hotch asked.
"I'm aware of his history. He'll have some pain for a few days but most of the impact was on his chest and not his back. Would you like to see him?"
"Yes, please."
Hotch followed the doctor down the hall and to a room. "He's in there. Call a nurse if you need anything. I'll be back later to check on him."
"Thank you," Hotch smiled. He opened the door to find Spencer sleeping on the bed with his body slightly propped up. A white bandage covered most of his forehead with dark bruises around his eye and down his right cheek. A cast encased Reid's wrist while some bruising was visible on his neck and part of his chest. Hotch felt relief that Reid was okay but wanted to know what had happened.
"Hotch," Reid said softly as his eyes opened.
"How are you feeling?"
"My head is pounding but I'm okay."
Hotch took a seat on the edge of the bed. "What happened?"
"I remembered who Nathan Harris is," Reid sighed. "I couldn't stop the images and I lost control of my car. I hit a tree."
"You have no idea how worried I've been. I haven't even told the team yet. I know that it isn't your fault but it's difficult seeing you back in hospital. I watched your heart stop after you got shot and I watched them bring you back. I know you're going to be fine but you can't moan about all the worry that is about to come your way."
"I'm really sorry for making you worry," Reid said shakily. "I didn't mean to lose control of the car."
Hotch could tell that Reid was beginning to get upset. He put his hand on Reid's shoulder. "Don't get upset. It's okay. The doctor said that you could leave later today if he is comfortable with your condition. I'm just happy that you can leave the hospital today. From now on, you're either being driven to work by Morgan or taking public transport."
"I think that's a good idea," Reid smiled gently.
"Oh my god," Garcia gasped as she came into Morgan and Reid's apartment using her key. She put down a few bags she had brought and rushed over to the couch. Her hands cradled Reid's face gently. "My poor little genius."
"I'm okay," he smiled. "Just a few bumps and some bruises."
"A fractured wrist, a bad concussion, a huge cut to your forehead and some very bad bruising," Garcia listed, using her fingers to count out each injury. "You have more than some bumps and bruises. You are not driving to work anymore. The others are coming over in a while. They had to see Cruz about some reports but they'll be over soon."
Morgan walked into the room. "Hey, baby girl."
"You're supposed to be at the meeting," Garcia said. Hotch had brought Reid to the apartment but Cruz had called him in. Garcia had taken his place caring for Reid.
"It's a meeting that Hotch can berate me for missing later," Morgan said before smiling. "I'm not about to sit in a room talking about being a better communicator or whatever they are talking about when Reid was just in a car accident. Reid had a flashback. That's why he lost control of the car."
"I didn't mean to," Reid defended.
"We know you didn't," Garcia soothed before stroking her hand through his hair. "Hotch said you remembered Nathan Harris."
"The images just came so quickly and that's all I could see. I'm lucky I only hit the tree. I could have killed someone."
"Reid, what matters is that you are okay and that no-one else was hurt. Don't burden yourself with things that could have happened. You need to focus on getting better. You look like you just went ten rounds with a boxer."
"I don't think I should drive alone anymore."
"We'll arrange something," Morgan smiled. "You need to rest before the rest of the team arrives."
Morgan quickly went to the bedroom and grabbed some pillows, he placed them on the couch and helped Reid lay down. "How much does your back hurt?"
"Quite a bit but I can't take any pain medication because of my concussion," Reid answered. "I'm fine. Some sleep with help. Just wake me up every hour."
Half an hour later
Morgan sat at the bottom of the couch. He watched as Reid slept gently.
"He's not going anywhere," Garcia smiled.
"I know but I feel like I have to keep an eye on him all the time. I'm afraid that I'll turn around and he'll be gone. When Clara screwed with my head, every thought I had revolved around eliminating Reid. He may have forgiven me but I still have a hard time with what I did. I always will. Every time I hear him hiss or moan in pain because of his back, all I hear is the sound of a gunshot and the thud of him hitting the floor. I see him as the little brother that I always wanted and I don't want to lose him. Today, with the accident, has brought everything back. He could have died in the car accident."
"He didn't and that's the important thing," Garcia said before coming forward and hugging him. "I know he's a little fragile sometimes but that's why he has you. Just keep protecting him like you always do. If you protect him, he'll make you smile and be a little brother to you. What happened that day at the BAU is in the past and we all survived it."
Reid let out a small shiver causing Morgan to grab an extra blanket and place it over him. He tucked it in and watched as Reid slumbered easier. "I've got your back, kid."
"He knows," Garcia grinned before kissing Morgan's forehead. "He's always known that."
Please review
I normally try not to do this but it's driving me insane. I'm looking for a fanfic where Reid and the team were kidnapped and they were each tortured. It was shown in flashbacks because Reid tries to kill himself and left six letters. I think one of the chapters was named How he forgets. I also remember that Emily had her arm burned and Garcia had bruises around her neck. At one point, Reid also offered Rossi a knife to kill him because he wanted to stop the pain. I'd really appreciate if anyone knows this story.
