Chapter 21
" I think you should go " Caleb lowered his head, he couldn't bare to look at Lucas right now.
" I'm so so sorry " Lucas pleaded.
" I know you are... " Caleb switched feet & chewed the inside of his cheek. " I'll uh... See you at home I guess ". Lucas looked to Hanna again but she turned away, Caleb wrapped his arm around her & pulled her in close protecting her from his best friend.
" Sorry I let you both down ". Lucas walked out of the room, Caleb shut the door behind him & held Hanna even tighter.
" You sure you're ok? " Caleb asked. Hanna nodded & sat down on the bed, Caleb removed his jacket laying it on the back of her chair.
" Sorry I wasn't here earlier " he sat behind her, putting a hand around the side of her neck & kissed her hair.
" All I wanted was to surprise you for your birthday. I've never been more scared in my life...AND I hit him with the oar. How could I do something like that to a friend? ". Caleb turned Hanna around & wrapped his hands around her face.
" Fight or flight, you did what you had to do. Trust me I've been there...more times than I can remember ".
" Can you just hold me for a while? " Hanna asked. Caleb nodded & laid back on the bed pulling Hanna down with him.
" You're safe now " he whispered in her ear.
