I am sorry that I haven't updated in a while. I have a crazy mix of college and work that's kept me from writing these lovely ladies. Combine that with a broken laptop charger, a broken phone, and a distinct lack of wifi at my apartment and you get very few update chances.

EDIT: Okay it's been like a week since I wrote what's above. The chapter had been too short, so I waited. I have wifi at my apartment now, but that means netflix which means Orange is the New Black, which means a different set of lesbians distracting me from my day to day tasks. I'm currently forcing myself to finish this before I watch the next episode. I've only watched to the Thanksgiving episode so far, but damn...

ANYWAY. Back to the matters at hand.

Onward.

Chapter Twenty:
Three may keep a secret

Shego wrapped two knuckles on the open door as she leaned her shoulder on the frame. She held a white bag with the subway logo on the front. "Afternoon, Possibles," she greeted blandly. She hadn't expected the Possible Twins to be visiting their sister that day. Really, she wasn't in the mood to deal with them.

Kim smiled at her, as she usually did with friends. Shego was still surprised by it every time. "Hey, Shego!"

The twins looked startled to see her, but excited. "Shego! Can we see your plasma?" came a simultaneous question.

She raised an eyebrow, distracted by the contraption the two were leaning over. It was a simple oval that seemed to have wheels protruding from the bottom. "What the hell is that?"

"They made it for me," Kim answered, an uneasy look occupying her face.

"It's to help her when she goes home!" came Tim's excited answer.

Jim, of course, was next to speak. "It'll follow her instructions and help her get what she needs at home."

They both grabbed for it and set it on the ground. "Like we were saying before. It's keyed to your voice, Kim. Tell it to do something!"

Kim raised an eyebrow, let out an exasperated sigh, and looked at the metallic device. "Go to the corner." The device whirred a bit and did as was ordered.

"Try something harder."

A sigh left Kim once more. "Grab the pen off the table." It moved to the small end table that was beside the hospital bed. A small arm came out of it and reached up to grab the pen.

"Even harder than that!"

She rolled her eyes. "Go over to the door, gesture Shego inside, and close the door half way."

The device went the door without any trouble. It then used it's strange arm to make an awkward movement that could be considered a gesture. When Shego didn't move, it hesitated. "If I just stand here, it'll get confused, won't it?" she asked. "I'm just gonna stand here."

The device's arm reached for the door but then attempted to usher Shego inside again. It sparked as it went back and forth between the two actions.

"You're gonna—"

"—break it!"

Jim dove for it, flipping it over and hitting a small red button on the bottom. The arm retracted back into it and the entire device went still. The twins breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yeah, cause that's going to help you tons, Kimmie."

"It would've helped her—"

"—if you had listened to it!"

"Listen... What do you call them, Cupcake? Tweebs? Listen, tweebs. A half-assed thing like that isn't gonna do shit. Drakken could make something better, on one of his good days. Go try again if you really want to help. And do something creative, something that won't have a conniption when someone with free will doesn't do what it wants."

She shooed them from the room, both grumbling about their machine. Shego huffed and sat in the vacant chair besides the bed. "That was kind of cruel," Kim commented. "I mean, I don't really want that thing in my apartment, but they are trying to help…"

"I'm not in the mood for anything mad scientist related," she replied.

"What happened?"

"Just some idiot who wanted one of my security systems pissed me off. I got the entire thing set up, right? It was ready to go. And then one of his machines goes haywire and destroys the entire fucking system. God, I wanted to tear his ears off. I told him that if he wanted a new one, he had to pay for the new one and extra for the time I wasted setting up the first." She ran a hand back through her hair before tossing the subway bag she held onto Kim's lap. "And I brought you lunch."

Kim smiled at her and, despite Shego's bad mood, Shego felt a bit better. "Thanks! And sorry your day sucked."

Shego waved it off. "Whatever. When's the doc letting you out?"

"Tomorrow. But I can't go on any missions for a few weeks."

"Makes sense. Is your mom putting you under house arrest?"

Kim nodded. "Yeah. She's shopping for me and Wade isn't allowed to give me any missions." She perked up, suddenly remembering something. "Oh! I almost forgot." She reached over to a bag that had been placed comfortably in her reach. She reached in and shoved a few things aside before finding what she wanted. "Wade made you this when I told him you were going to start going on missions with me." She held out what she had removed from the bag. It was a sleeker version of the kimmunicator. And it was black and green. "I told him you would not want to call it the Shemunicator."

"No, I think I'll call it a COMmunicator. Or better yet, a phone!" she said sarcastically. She dropped it from her voice. "But… I guess tell him I said thanks."

"No problem! Oh, and that one has basically all of the features mine has, but it's lighter and plasma proof, to an extent."

"To an extent?"

"I think he mentioned up to two hundred and fifty degrees. I'm pretty sure you can go hotter than that."

"Damn right, Princess." Shego smirked and sent a wink Kim's way.

Kim rolled her eyes. "You're impossible."

"Uh, no. You're Kim Possible. I'm Shego."

The only response was a groan at the joke.

"Kim?"

"Oh, hey, Lilly," Kim spoke, looking up at the nurse. She was a slim blonde with a pretty face, only a few years older than Kim. Kim would never admit having pictured the woman in an old style nurse's outfit, the one that was much more sexually viewed now. She couldn't help but wonder if Lilly might play for the other team. She doubted it.

"I'm just here to change your bandages," Lilly informed. She bit her lip. "Your mom mentioned there was some irregularity to the wound?"

Kim gave her a confused look. "She didn't mention anything to me. And I haven't seen it yet. Did she say what?" Why would her mother not have mentioned it? She must not have believed it to be much of a worry.

"Just discolouration. She mentioned she was sure it wouldn't affect healing negatively." Curiosity overcame Kim. She really wanted to see it now.

"I guess we'll see then."

Lilly nodded and set to work. Her fingers were nimble, and gentle on Kim's skin as she removed the bandage. Kim took a deep breath as the bandage was peeled back. It was soon very obvious what Anne had meant by discolouration.

"Oh."

Darkness was all around Kim. She couldn't see where she was, she only knew she was cold and there was a sense of danger about. Someone ran at her out of the dark and she reacted accordingly. The assailant lay on the ground mere seconds later. Kim turned and suddenly saw a light in the distance. It glowed green, bright and warm. She knew she had to move toward it.

So that's what she did. She ran for it, forgetting anything else but to get to that light. The need to be surrounded by it was practically bursting from her.

Someone stepped in her path. She only had time to see cruel red eyes before a horrible pain seized her and she fell. Still she fought onward, clutching at her stomach in a vain attempt to hold onto her blood. She left a trail as she pushed on to the light, her hand only falling centimeters short before she lost the last of her energy.

She woke up in pain. Her hand was pressed over the bandage. She was quick to remove it as well as grab for the bottle of pain pills she had left beside the bed. She only ever took half a pill. It was enough to make the pain manageable when it got to proportions such as the ones she tending to experience upon waking.

She lay curled up in bed until it kicked in, the only excess movements she made being to use her phone. She texted Monique first, asking what she was up to. She wasn't sure she'd get a reply since her friend was on the other side of the world. Her second was to Shego to ask what she was up to.

Eventually the pain in her abdomen subsided enough for her to get up and find herself breakfast. She crashed on the couch with a bowl of cereal.

Beep-beep-bedeep.

"Hey, Wade. What's up?" The young genius's face appeared on the kimmunicator's screen. She set aside her cereal for the moment.

"Nothing really. I'm just checking in." He gave her a smile. "And your mom says she'll be over on Friday to change your bandages."

She returned the smile. "Thanks!"

"So do you need anything? I can get someone to get it for you."

She shook her head and leaned back on the couch. "Nope. I'm just waiting for Shego to text me back. I asked if she wanted to come watch a movie with me. I'm really bored. Oh, she said thanks by the way. For the communicator you made her."

Wade's eyes widened. "Uhm, Kim. Did you just say Shego said "thanks"?!"

Kim couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Yes, she did. She's polite, when she wants to be."

"It's so weird that you're friends with her," Wade admitted honestly. "After all those years of fighting..."

"It wasn't just fighting. I'm pretty sure after a while we had some weird sort of... trust, I guess, for each other. It's kinda hard to explain."

"It sounds it." He shrugged. "But I don't think I'd be someone prone to understand that sort of trust. I have a trust for technology though! I know I can count on my computers."

Kim couldn't help but snort as she smiled a bit. "That's nothing like that. But it's cool we can actually be friends now. She even helped me talk to girls when we went out a while back."

"Okay, that's another thing that took me completely by surprise. I never would've guessed you were gay originally."

A small chuckle left Kim. Her smile was half-hearted. "Neither did I. But that's how it ended up. I guess we'll find out if it's for the better." She stretched as well as she could.

"Do... Do you wish you had told Ron earlier?" Wade asked softly.

A shrug. "I don't know." A soft, almost sad look appeared on her face before she could hide it with indifference. "Sometimes, I guess. We probably wouldn't have gotten together then, and we'd still be talking now. But also no, because I don't regret a moment of my relationship with him."

Wade gulped. "I... I don't know if I should tell you, but... I tried to call him. Before I tried to call Shego. He didn't answer. And, well, I know he was awake. I checked his web activity and if his kimmunicator was near him, but... Nothing."

A tension was suddenly in her jaw. "Well... I guess it's good Shego answered her phone then."

There was a beep, telling Kim she had received a text.

"That'll be her," Wade spoke up.

"Or Monique!" Kim shook her head, as though it could rid her of any sad thoughts. She was focusing on trying to be happy.

"I'll let you go. Tell me if you need anything."

"Will do!" They said their goodbyes and hung up.

Kim hummed to herself as she checked the text after settling back in with her food. It was from Shego. Kim was certain Monique was asleep. "What, am I your only friend or something?"

"Only one that lives nearby," Kim replied. She was halfway through her cereal before she got a reply back.

"I'm busy right now. Security audit. I'll show up later, though, if you really want me to come over."

"Please and thank you!"

There. Finally got something into this. Now, I'm going to go watch Orange is the New Black.

Later, I'm going to go back and fix the chapters I saw errors on.

Thanks for reading!
