It had been a long voyage, but it was at an end. Taki disembarked at the Turkish port of Antalya, and set off to find her contact.
It took some digging, some searching, and some bribing, but she was at last directed towards a small house near the harbor.
Sitting out in front of the house was a short, old, bearded and bespectacled man smoking a pipe. He paid no attention to Taki as she walked up to him.
"Are you Abdulkadir?"
The man didn't respond.
"Are you Abdulkadir?" Taki repreated.
Again, no reponse.
Taki drew the Rekki-maru and stabbed it into the small table besides the old Turk. He jerked out of shock, and turned to look at Taki.
"Who the hell are you?"
"I'm a friend of Tanaka's. Are you Abdulkadir?"
The old man's eyes widened as he smiled, "Tanaka? Ha! How is he? I haven't seen him in ten years, not since we-"
"So you are Abdulkadir," Taki interrupted.
The old man took another puff prom his pipe. "Yes," he said, "I'm Abdulkadir. Forgive me for not answering, I don't like being disturbed."
"And I don't like having my time wasted," Taki answered, yanking the Rekki-maru from the table. "I have questions for you."
"Oh?" Abdulkadir asked, "And what makes you think I'd be inclined to answer them?"
"I had planned to pay you if necessary," Taki said, grabbing her dagger's sheath. "But if you really want to play games with me, I have…," she scrapped the Rekki-maru's blade against the inside of the sheath, a sharp noise coming from within, "…other ways."
Abdulkadir began to sweat. "You hurt me, and I'll give you nothing."
Taki answered him, putting the sheathed dagger away. "Do not waste my time, and we'll have no trouble."
"Right," Abdulkadir swallowed, "What do you need?"
Taki walked over to the door, and opened it. "I think it best if we didn't discuss it out in the open."
Abdulkadir entered, and Taki followed, closing the door. Abdulkadir was visibly nervous, shaking as he moved to find a seat.
"So…," he spoke at last, "what do you need?"
"I'm looking for a sword. Tanaka tells me you've heard of it," she answered, "Soul Edge."
Abdulkadir raised his eyebrows. "What?" he asked in disbelief. "Don't tell me you buy into those garbage "Sword of Salvation" stories."
"No," Taki said, "I'm well aware of Soul Edge's twisted nature."
"Then why on Earth-"
"I want to destroy it," Taki interrupted. "That sword is corrupting someone I care for. I intend to free him."
The old Ottoman's eyes widened and his jaw dropped. "You know the Azure Knight," he said softly.
"Who?"
"The Azure Knight," Abdulkadir continued, "Soul Edge's wielder."
"I don't know who you're referring to," Taki replied.
"Oh," the old man said, "I had assumed… anyways, Soul Edge. You wish to find it?"
"Yes. Who is this 'Azure Knight?'"
"He is a monster," Abdulkadir said, staring up from beneath lowered brows. "His horror has remained distant from the Ottomans so far, but it's only a matter of time before he reaches us." He removed his spectacles and began began cleaning them with his coat. He continued, "The Holy Roman Empire. Italy. France. Burgundy. Hungary. Poland. Most of the mainland of Europe."
"His power reaches so far?"
"He leaves a wake of destruction and corruption all over. His followers are monstrous and merciless. Even Cervantes de Leon's terror was nothing in comparison to this… this nightmare."
To inspire such fear so far from his reach, this Azure Knight must truly be a force to be reckoned with. But there was no turning back now. If he had Soul Edge, he had to be found.
"Where is he?" Taki demanded.
"You're determined to go through with this?" the old man asked, replacing his spectacles.
"Where is he?" she repeated.
Abdulkadir sighed. "Somewhere in Germany. I don't know where exactly."
"You don't know?"
"Look," Abdulkadir said, standing up, "If he's truly as fearsome as the stories tell, then you'll have no trouble finding him once you're near. Every day, more people go off to stop him. Every day, more people fall to his sword, and to the swords of his twisted followers. His corruption and destruction spread like a blight on the whole of Europe. You will have no shortage of leads; I guarantee you that."
"And if he's not there?" Taki asked, not wanting to be sent on a wild chase due to faulty intel.
"There's practically no chance that he won't be," the Turk answered, "but if that's the case, someone's sure to know where he was headed to."
Taki nodded in thanks, and left a small pouch of money on the table for the old man's help. She turned to leave, and make her way towards the harbor to find a boat.
"Wait a moment," Abdulkadir called out. Taki turned her head. "If you are determined to face the Azure Knight, I beg of you. Allah'in Adiyla, I beg of you. Stop him. Stop him from destroying more. Don't let him ravage our world any longer."
"He will answer for what he's done," Taki said, turning back. She left, and went to seek passage to the continent.
After bartering her way onto a merchant vessel, she acquired passage to San Marino, Italy. From there, she would continue her quest.
Onwards, to the Holy Roman Empire.
This Azure Knight would face justice. Soul Edge would face justice.
For Toki.
For the Fu-ma.
For everything.
VOILA.
So, here it is. Chapter 21.
