Chapter 21 - Seb

Feeling a soft flutter on my head, my eyes crack open through my damp lashes and feel warmth wrapped around me.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." Jace says softly above me as he wraps the duvet tighter around my body.

I nod and unwanted tears slip down my face. How could Will possibly do that to me? Kind, generous, thoughtful Will?

"Hey, it's alright," Jace mutters softly and strokes the tears from my cheeks. "I'll be in my room if you need me, ok?"

My heart rate spikes up and I splutter, "Don't leave me, please." I practically beg as tears roam freely down my face.

Looking at Jace's eyes breaks my heart. The golden eyes draw down with softness as he nods.

I snuggle down further into the warmth as he crawls into the other side of the bed and wraps his arms around me, enclosing me in warmth.

"Jace?" I whisper into the darkness.

"Hmmm," he mumbles by my neck.
I sniffle, "Thank you,"

He doesn't reply, but his arms tighten around me. Burrowing further into the mattress, I fall asleep.

Heart racing, tears streaming, my fathers own face in my dream morphs into Wills. I shoot up in bed and fling Jace's arms off. With tears continuing to fall, I shallow my breathing I look silently behind me at the sleeping Jace, oblivious to his arms being thrown around.

With my heart still racing, I clamber silently off of the mattress, onto the cold floor and welcome the shivers that rake my body.

I tiptoe as quietly as possible to the door and crack it open before slipping through the gap and close it softly behind me.

I race down the stairs to the main room and spot my bag lying on the sofa. I rush over and rummage through until I have my phone in hand and let out a sigh of relief.

Leaving my bag on the sofa, I take my phone and silently make my way out the glass doors and onto the white sand beach behind. My footfalls feel soft within the grains of sand as the moon sits high up in the sky.

I do the only thing I know how to and dial the number.

He picks up on the 4th ring. "Clary?" I can already sense the worry in his voice which makes me cry harder.

I squeak out through sobs, "I need you. I need you so badly. Please." The please ends in a whisper.

I can hear crashing through the phone before he replies. "I'm coming LIttle Sis, I'm coming." It makes me sob louder. "I'm getting in the car right now and I will be there in a few hours, ok?" He speaks quickly.

I nod, "Please come quick, Seb. I can't do this without you." Tears fall down my face as I listen to his response. "I'm always here for you little sis. Always. No matter what. See you soon."

"See you," I reply weakly and fall into the sand after hanging up.

Tucking my knees underneath me, I prop my head onto them and look out into the lapping water as it runs up the sand. I don't know how long I sit staring at the moon as it moves in the sky, but by the time I see the specks of dawn arriving, my eyes drift shut without my permission.

"Red?" I hear a voice call and then two hands shake me. "Honey, are you alright?"
I rub my eyes and turn to see Alec kneeling down next to me. I yawn loudly and look around. I have sand stuck to my face from sleeping out on the beach. "Yeah," I say quietly as he hauls me up and carries me into the house.

"Jace has been going mental." Alec starts saying, "The idiot didn't look out onto the beach but went running out the door because he thought Will kidnapped you and wanted to kick his ass. He was so worried when you weren't there."

I drop to the ground and stretch my arms up into the air as the doorbell rings. Alec huffs, "And the idiot forgot his key."

He goes over to the door and pulls it open. Although it is not Jace standing there. It is Seb.

I immediately start crying and Alec tenses up, blocking the door, "Who are you?" he says shortly.

Seb scowls at him and pushes his way into the house, coming straight for me. "I'm Clary's brother." Shock is evident on Alec's face. Me and Seb look nothing alike.

"Little sis," Seb whispers, his white hair bouncing as he draws me into a hug.

I wrap my arms tightly around him and bury my face into his shirt, which smells exactly like him. Like my home.

"I missed you so much," I whisper, trying not to cry harder but failing.

"I missed you too," he answers, laying a hand protectively onto my head.

"Fucking hell, Alec! I can't find her anywhere!" I hear a familiar voice of Jace shouting by the door, but with Alec's hushed whisper he falls silent.

"Who the hell is this?" Jace snarls and I look over Seb's shoulder to look at him.

Seb lets go and turn to meet Jace head on, "I'm Clary's brother. Do you have a problem?" Seb says sternly. "Who are you?"

Jace visibly relaxes and comes into the room, closing the front door behind him. "I'm Jace. I live here."

Seb nods thoughtfully and looks from Jace to me. A snarl rises on his face as he stalks over to Jace and shoves him against the door.

"SEB!" I cry.

"It's you isn't it fucker?" Seb snarls loudly to Jace who shoves him off, anger vibrating through his body.

"Fuck no!" Jace shouts.

Seb goes for him again, but I run in between them and put my hands on Sebs chest, halting him. "Jace hasn't done anything wrong," I say softly and his eyes immediately soften at my tone.

"Tell me." Is all that he says and I tense, nodding, knowing that I have to face my fears again... But it's Seb. I tell him everything.

"Let's sit down then." I say quietly, blinking away the tears.

Alec gives Seb and I some space so I can retell the story, starting to shake. But Jace is refusing to leave.

I tell Seb everything. Right from the start when Will and I started dating and I can see the sympathy in his eyes until it gets to last night. Suddenly, Seb has anger rolling off him in waves, and Jace isn't far off himself.

I can't help the sobs that fall out when I go into detail.

"Fucker!" Seb shouts angrily, storming towards the the door. "Where does this prick live?" I know he senses the familiar vibe of our father in the story and I shrink further into the sofa.

Seb continues shouting curse words as he paces the room whilst Jace pulls me closer and I rest my head on his shoulder.

I close my eyes and hear the footsteps of Sebs pacing stop. "Did you save her?" I hear Seb ask Jace quietly.

"I would do anything for Clary," he replies immediately and I melt inside.

"Then let's go and have a word with this sick bastard!" Seb's response is harsh and full of anger. I know he'll do more than just having a word with Will. I think it reminds him so much of our father that he wants to unleash all the anger that he has built up inside as Jace starts starts to respond, the doorbell chimes.

"I'll get it," Jace says and goes towards the door.

Seb slides into his vacated seat and pulls me closer, "Im here for you, Little Sis," he murmurs in my hair. "I'll always be here." This makes me cry. But not through sadness, but through so much love. I can always count on Seb. He's been the only one to ever care. The only one to not ask questions but to be there, regardless of the situation.

Jace hauls open the door and I see a very familiar face standing in the doorway. Jace shouts, "FUCK!" Just as I cry and crawl as far away from him as possible.

I'm still scrambling back when he doesn't have a chance to think before Jace punches him right in the face and tackles him to the ground, shouting curses and using him as a punching bag. Rage is written all over his face.

Seb, in lightning speed, grasps the situation and follows to join Jace, just as angry. I have never seen this side of them.

It was Will.
