A/N Sorry for the late update but I've been really sick the last couple of weeks and couldn't get myself to do homework AND write another chapter for you guys. But here's one because I'm now on Christmas break.
Disclaimer: I own only the plot.
Max POV
The interview had gone by before I even knew it had started. The woman who had escorted me to the room for the interview had come back in to direct me to a dressing room where I would get all done up for the photo shoot. The lady stuck with basic makeup for the first photo since it was my "vulnerable" look. I wore nothing but a thin, white, men's dress shirt that went to just below my knees.
"Okay, just sit on the ground here and pose as if you were sulking and just noticed the camera." The photographer told me and I sat where he pointed. I pulled my knees up slightly so that they still had a gap between my lower and upper legs and twined my hands together draping them loosely over my legs. I rested my head on the top of my knee and looked in the direction of the camera. Hopefully this was what the photographer was going for. "Beautiful. That's perfect. You're a natural." He said as he snapped a few quick photos. "I don't even need you to pose again. Just go change into the next outfit while we set up the next scene." He was going through the shots on his camera as he spoke and I stood to walk back to the dressing room. I felt exposed as I walked through the room, my bare legs visible to everyone and nothing covering underneath except for my underwear.
The second outfit was much more eccentric. I wore a bright green, sleeveless, dress shirt, a bright yellow, A-line skirt, African designed, striped leggings, metallic rainbow combat boots, and a pair of green and pink ice cream cone earrings. My hair was done up in a messy donut bun and the makeup artist had fun with my face. My eyelids were a pink and brown with a thick-lined, slight cat eye, eyeliner. My waterline was a light blue color. My lips were a bright pink which finished off the look. It was extremely weird but it fit together somehow. I walked out into a bright pink set and the director started to snap photos of me as I posed for him in the outfit. It was going so much better than I had thought and I was almost enjoying it. I had one last outfit to change into before we were through so I walked back into the dressing room for the stylists and people to go to work.
I walked out of the room twenty minutes later wearing a teal, halter dress with black polka dots, trim, and a thick black belt like fabric piece around the waist. The dress was paired with a black suede heel which covered all of my foot except for the big toe and a few others. My face was bare except for a clear gloss coating my lips. My hair was pulled half-up and out of my face. I stood on the white background and spread my feet out a little farther than shoulder width. I clasped my hands in front of me and bent them at the elbows holding a finger gun up in front of me. I closed one eye as if I were about to aim and shoot and puckered my lips just for fun. The photographer had a blast shooting tons of photos and when we were done the crew cheered while I walked back to my seat. I sat down and took a sip of my water.
"You did well." I heard a voice say from beside me and nearly spit out my water. I whipped around in my chair to see Fang standing and smirking next to me. I looked around before glaring at him.
"When did you get here?" I asked and he shrugged.
"I've been here the whole time. I didn't have anything to do today so I came to watch your photo shoot. "
"Where were you? I didn't see you even once." He pointed over to a dark corner and I chuckled. "Of course. So…I only did 'well', Emo Boy?" I teased. He rolled his eyes at the nickname and shrugged.
"The guy behind the camera seemed to think so." He said almost under his breath and I turned to look in the direction of his gaze. The man who had taken the shots of me was putting his gear away in its case but he wasn't looking at his hands. He was looking at me. He looked down quickly when he caught my gaze and I flushed and turned away. He was slightly older than me, maybe in his early twenties, with dark brown hair and tan skin. He was obviously muscular and yeah, he was cute but I didn't want anything to happen so I decided it was time to go. I hurried toward the dressing room to change and saw a note on the door.
Maya,
Feel free to keep all the outfits you wore. Take it as a gift from us here at Box Officer Magazine.
Wow. People just love giving me stuff for free, don't they? I opened the door and quickly grabbed everything I had worn that day, shoving it all into Maya's massive purse and rushing out the door, Fang following from behind.
Fang and I separated to get into our respective cars and headed back to the apartment. Iggy wasn't home when we arrived. I kicked off the heels that I still wore from the shoot and walked back towards Maya's room to change and put the stuff away. I was hanging up the green top when I realized it was Monday. Maya had been me at school today. I wondered how it was going.
Maya POV
Math. It's probably the worst thing to ever be created. I have to say, it's a useful tool but when I stare at a problem for too long numbers start to lift off the page and swirl in my head until I just want to tear the book to shreds. It's not a pleasant feeling. The bell rang to signal the end of class and I rose to run out of the classroom as fast as I could. It had only been three periods and I was already bone tired. Shoving through hordes of students to get to class on time, remembering which way to go through the halls, it was all very stressful. I had learned that I had second period with Dylan and third period with Nudge who seemed to notice my struggling and helped through the rest of class.
"Max!" Nudge called. I turned to look back and saw her running up to me. "You ran out of that class faster than you run the mile." She stated when she caught up to me. "You seemed to be more confused than usual in there. Is something wrong?" I shook my head.
"No. Nothing's wrong I just realized how deep my hatred for math runs." I stated and she smiled.
"I see. Well, at least now we have lunch and you can give your brain a break."
"Yeah," I nodded and continued to walk towards Max's locker to put her stuff away. I couldn't wait to just sit and relax for a small amount of time. But that was too good to be true, now wasn't it?
A/N There. Kind of a filler but also important to the storyline. Thank you to everyone who took the time to review! I got 9. :) To Nudge24: Haha, nice to see you again. Hope you enjoyed the chapter. And thank you! To ImaBeImaBe: Thank you and I've actually read a fanfiction like that before. And a series. If you're into that type of thing you should read Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins. I really enjoyed it. I'll maybe try that sometime. To Guest: Who? And what scenes? I don't think they're actually making a movie out of the books because the rumors been going around for a while and yet nothing has come out. To IfOnlyMyDreamGuy: Yes, of course I've seen Catching fire! Twice! It was so good! I reread the whole series in preparation. To rebekahjr14: yay! Someone who agrees with me! :D And that's weird because a lot of my friends didn't like who they picked for Finnick I honestly didn't care because he wasn't my favorite new tribute. That was Johanna and they did an AMAZING job picking her. And a lot of people I kow didn't like Catching fire or Mockingjay so they didn't read them. I liked all three. Yes, I've heard of Black Veil Brides but I'm not a fan. I mean, I can see where some people might find them to be good but I'm just not into them. I'm more of a Pierce the Veil type person. :) Thank you to all who are reading this! I hope you are enjoying this story so far. Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. and a Happy New Year!
"This is my family. I found it all on my own. It's little, and broken. But still good. Yeah, still good."
