Month 2 part 1 coming at ya!

Messenger

Alec: Alpha..voices?

I'd just sent the new update to the Volturi and Aro had asked Alec to message me immediately about this new information.

Jane: For absolute obedience, there would have to be an alpha and at the moment there are two packs. Two packs, two alphas.

Alec: What a development. Aro is becoming more interested. He's already recorded the history but now he's anxious to see.

Jane: Of course he is.

Alec: ...Jane...are you ok. Is there anything you need to share? You've been silent these past few days.

Jane: There isn't as much new information right now. I'll speak to the wolves soon.

Alec: Jane...

Jane: Anything I need to share Aro will learn of when he arrives.

Jane: *Jane has signed out*

Wisty

"She's part of a what?"

"A royal vampire guard who took it upon themselves to rule over us."

I was asking Jasper and Alice about Jane and where she was from if she wasn't a Cullen.

"She's part of the gifted guard of their leader Aro. She, and all the others are torturous compared to us." Alice explained.

"I know she can be brazen but..."

"Have you tried using your gift on her?" Alice asked. She was so ecstatic about my psychic ability. It wasn't as good as hers, but she still loved the chance to confer about the subject of the future with someone else.

"On hunts I try to get close enough to her, and when I do, her rhythm is all over the place. She doesn't have a set path right now and it's like she's in a state of conflict over something."

"Paul." They said in unison.

I must have looked confused as Jasper started to explain, "She's been in a state of misery ever since he's been gone; corresponding with her brother more, and writing in that on-line diary of hers."

"You read her diary?!"

"No...but Edward listens in." I shook my head is disappointment. "We can never be too careful with Jane."

"She's my best friend..."

"Which means it's more likely for her to try and turn you to the Volturi way of thinking. I didn't have a full vision of you changing, but I had a murky glimpse, and everything around it...isn't certain. Aro has been wanting a clairvoyant or psychic ever since he learned about me. She might have picked up on the potential with you and...well..."

"Orchestrated everything?!" I stood up quickly and stepped away. "She would never!"

"We don't mean to startle you," Jasper told me, putting a calming hand up,"...but you don't know Jane as well as we do."

They were wrong about that. I did know Jane and I had felt the sadistic side of her when we'd been in front of Courtney. Neither of us had mentioned it, and I thought we never would, but I had picked up on something then...maybe that's why I acted so strange that night.

"I'm going to go find her."

Alice called out to me as I walked away, "She's probably in the study with her laptop."

Jane

I had nothing left. I was stalling now, trying to keep my deal with the wolves even though their treatment of me had been less than exemplary. I couldn't tell them about Wisty yet and with Paul gone for the past month there was no-one to really bother me; Even Wisty had Seth.

Ping

Seth: Paul needs you.

I stared at my phone for a while before replying.

Jane: Why?

"You know why, Jane. You're his imprint." I heard Wisty step up behind me. "You're positively miserable without him."

"I'm not."

Seth: No alcohol, no human form, no imprint...he's losing his mind. Look, he's my best friend...would you just...

"No."

"Why not?" she asked all nonchalant, which in turn pissed me off.

"Because there are consequences! Why does no one understand that?"

"Aren't the consequences to Paul's emotional state even greater than that of the guard?"

"NO!"

She stared at me, utterly terrified at how adamant I was. The truth stung.

"It's the truth, Wisty. Staying away from me is better for him, I swear."

Jane: I can't. *Jane has signed out*

Paul

Let me go to her. I had descended to pleading, and Sam was enjoying it. While we ran patrols he ignored me every step of the way but I could feel his smile. He didn't understand how I felt. My heart was tugging in Jane's direction, my head was bursting with images, fantasies, dreams of her, her, HER. I need her, just once.

She sent you away Paul. Yes! He was finally talking to me.

She always does that. It's what she does. She promised me to try...I need to stay with her, she needs me...

And what will happen when the months are up? He snarled, Will you go with her, as a chosen dog for their guard? They won't let you be human there either. Think of this as training.

That's not funny, Sam.

None of this is funny. He managed a huff in frustration. Of all the people to betray out tribe secrets...I never thought it would be you, Paul.

Of all the people to break the most sacred law of our tribe, I never thought it would be you, Sam. For that he bit my ear and howled.

Go see your imprint! See if she wants you in human form or otherwise!

I felt a release in my body and I was finally able to shift. I marvelled at my human legs and ran to my house for clothes, thankful there was no sign of the father I hadn't seen in weeks.

I ran all the way to the Cullens house, not caring that I was tired and warm and just super excited.

Then she was there, standing in the driveway, looking up at the sunset. I marvelled at her small frame for a moment, the hidden intent behind such a small girl.

In all my dreams, they could never compare to the real Jane.

"Jane." I called out as not to startle her. She turned, eyes surprised at the sight of me. I walked quickly over and didn't hesitate to lift her up into my arms.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I was going mad without you of course." I put her down, "Sam let me come." I lifted her chin up for a kiss and melted into it like a complete romantic sap, becoming dizzy at the lack of air and hating myself once again for needing to breathe. She put a hand out to keep me from leaning in again.

"The Cullens don't want me unsupervised-"

"Don't you think the would have come out by now if they didn't want you here alone with me?" I nuzzled her ear and rubbed my hands up and down her back. I swear I felt a tremble but of course she controlled it afterwards. "Let's go back to your hotel room." I kissed her neck and inhaled her scent. "Take me."

"We can't..."

"Yes, Jane..yes we can."

Jane was my alcohol now, she was what kept me going. I needed more because I never knew how to stop. I hid myself in alcohol, and now I hid myself in Jane.

Jane

I don't know why I went with him...stop lying Jane, I missed him. I missed his stupid annoying obsessive care. I missed him giving me something to worry about and something to feel...

When we got to the hotel room he wouldn't stop touching me; he wanted to touch every part of me. It got to the point where he hated my bermuda shorts and t shirt and ripped them away from my body. His kisses were hot on my cold skin and he wouldn't let me go even if I tried. The rational part of me said stop but he was the irrational tug that said, just go with it.

"Jane, don't ever ask me to leave you again, 'cause I won't listen." he told me when he took his own shirt and jeans off.

"But I-" but he covered my lips with his and there was no more speaking.

As short tempered as I'd witnessed Paul to be...he was a great teacher. I wasn't lost but I'd never...you know...well at all, and it was way different as a vampire, considering the amount of strength I...well we both had. All I can say is that I forgave all his drunken teasing by the end and just watched him sleep curled up next to me.

The night passed blissfully, until he woke up in the middle of the night and started to kiss me again.

"Paul." I mumbled when he wandered, "Paul..."

"Yeah."

"Aro will see this." This stopped him dead in his tracks. I curled into myself as he let me slip easily away from him. "I'm the only one who thought of the consequences. I bet the Cullens let me leave because Alice told them think I'll finally swap to their side because of..."

"...because of this." he rubbed his forehead, "Jane."

"I am Volturi. I know more than anyone what will happen now...after everything I..."

Ping

"It's a text." I explained, reaching for my phone, "From...Edward...how did he get my number."

"Just tell me what it says."

"It says...Alice had a vision about the guard...Alec and Demitri are on their way here. They're going to spend the rest of the wait with us."

"Why?"

"Aro probably wants a second opinon on you wolves." I stood quickly and started finding clothes. "Shit shit shit."

"Jane..."

"Alec is my brother, he'll find out everything...and Demitri...god."

"Jane it was only vision."

"I know them...they'll be halfway here by now. We need to get back, and Wisty...god Wisty..."
