Chapter 21: The Jungle Rhythm
As Sora came to after crash landing in the world, he found himself in a dust crater in the middle of a jungle.
"Ow, my head..." Sora groaned, unaware a group of monkeys were prowling out towards him. "Hello? Donald? Goofy? Aqua?!" In that moment, the monkeys pounced and attacked Sora. He managed to fling them off to free himself, and prepared for battle.
{"The Jungle Rhythm" starts to play.}
Sora pulled out his Keyblade and swung forth several combos to defeat the swarm and eventually overpowered them. However, the monkeys then prepared to pounce on him again, leaving Sora too exhausted to fight back. A bear lunged into the monkeys' way and sent them running off as the bear got Sora back on his feet.
"Little britches, you ought to be more careful around these parts. Those Banderlogs are major trouble, especially when Louie gets all antsy."
"I-I'll try to remember that." Sora answered, catching the bear off-guard.
"Waitasec. You're not Mogwli! But, you don't look like the others from the man village..." the bear responded in surprise.
"Right, so could you tell me where I am? I'm looking for my friends. Have you seen them?" Sora asked.
"Your friends?" the bear asked back.
"Yeah, there's three of them. The loud one's named- uh, nevermind. I'm looking for my friends Riku and Kairi."
"Well, I can't say I've seen those two myself, but how about we go after my pal Bagheera? I was just about to look for him anyway. He might help you out. Just stick with ol' Baloo and we'look get along great."
"And I'm Sora. Let's get going, huh?" Sora said.
{World Name: The Groove Jungle. A plank of driftwood appears amongst a clay pot and a curling snake, with its scale pattern reading out the words "The Groove Jungle" with music notes floating in the air.}
In another part of the world, Aqua was cutting through vines in the jungle's underbrush until she discovered an abandoned temple where the monkeys were congregating. After fighting through the more rowdy groups of monkeys, Aqua managed to meet up with a young boy with tan brown skin wearing a red loin cloth around his hips.
"How'd you get here?" the boy asked.
"It's a long story, but not one I'm comfortable talking about. Anyway, my name is Aqua." she introduced herself as the boy smiled back knowingly.
"My name's Mowgli, and I was just with my friend Baloo when those monkeys over there abducted me and just took me here without explaining a thing." Mowgli replied.
"Is that right? I wonder why they brought us here..." Aqua asked out loud while meanwhile Donald and Goofy were having problems of their own.
"Gawrsh, where are we?" Goofy asked as he looked around the spot where they landed. "I sure hope Sora and Aqua are okay."
"Who needs them?" Donald responded before his wing patted the trunk of a elephant. "Wait, elephant?!"
"What on earth is that racket?" the lead elephant asked before turning towards the group and bellowing it's trunk and fleeing.
"Men, forward march!" the elephant called out as he and his tribe fled back further into the Jungle slums as a light greenish yellow snake appeared on-screen as it stared down Donald and Goofy.
Jiminy's Journal
* Mowgli- A young boy was orphaned in the jungle, until he was found and raised by a tribe of wolves. He is protected by the panther Bagheera, who teaches him of the ways of the jungle and how to survive as they attempt to avoid detection by the human-hating tiger Shere Khan. Despite Bagheera's best efforts, Mowgli's heart is still set in wanting to stay in his jungle home. This man-cub took a walk on the wild side in "The Jungle Book" (1967).
* Colonel Haiti- The elephant leader of the Dawn Patrol, whose patrol come to know of all the comings and goings in the jungle. Stubborn but haughty and well-meaning to a fault, he confronts all the creatures he comes by with a prideful stature. His patrol marched onto the scene in "The Jungle Book" (1967).
* Baloo- A laid-back bear who quickly becomes friends with Mowgli to help him to learn the ways of the jungle by his philosophy of the 'Bare Necessities'. Caring and fun-loving, he also faces the tough choice of having to eventually let his 'little britches' return to his real home in the Man Village. Baloo taught us all about the bare necessities of life in "The Jungle Book" (1967).
* Banderlog Monkeys- The henchmen of the orangutan jungle leader King Louie, who kidnaps Mowgli so they can learn to live like people. Be careful for when they ambush you, and use your combos to send them scampering with their tails between their legs. These monkeys swung into the groove in "The Jungle Book" (1967).
* Bagheera- The black panther that was entrusted by the wolves of the jungle to look after and keep the man cub Mowgli safe from the tiger Shere Khan. Despite his gruff attitude and frustration with Mowgli's rebellious nature, he truly cares for Mowgli's well-being as the father Mowgli otherwise never got to know. Bagheera kept his watchful eye during "The Jungle Book" (1967).
