"Kaname Kuran, such a pleasure it is to finally see you again." Rido Kuran's voice was deep and defying, a voice and a face that gave off the signature of Satan himself. It frightened me, yet I couldn't make the effort to move my feet. They were frozen solid to the bloody ground as he had rose from his coffin, his strengthened flesh now wrapped in a robe of black satin.

"Again?" I said, my voice shaking just as much as my body was. Was Kaname truly someone I could believe, someone I could put my trust in?

"Valeria, here is another surviving relative of the Kuran clan." He gestured towards me, his eyes looking different somehow, no longer soft or filled with kindness or delight. They were almost exploding with some cruel anticipation. It was like Kaname had turned on me and become a totally different person, a stranger, a danger to me.

"Why, Valeria. Such beauty. Just like your mother." Rido's pulsing eyes widened, his long fangs protruding as he cracked a smile. He seemed so surprised, as if my existence was strangely important to him, as if I was the key to all of his problems.

"Yes, yes she is." Kaname agreed. Both of them were now looking at me hungrily, their eyes lit with fire, a growl ripping viscously from their throats, a seductive look painted across their evil faces.

"And what a lovely feast she shall be." Kaname added, a sense of betrayal escaping his lips. I knew that I had to get out of here. I had to run, I had to hide. I was going to be dead meat if I didn't. But how? There's no way I could be as powerful as two Purebloods.

"S-Stay...Away." I warned, stretching my hand out, signalling them both to back off. Rido didn't protest, he just put his hand over mine and, in almost slow motion, pushed me against the crumbling plaster.

"Your blood is our solution." He whispered, moving a lock of my hair to the side so my neck was bare.

"What do you mean?" I asked, his body roughly against mine, which was broken and fragile when his lips touched my neck.

No, no, no! I cannot let this happen! Focus, Val. My powers. Use them.

With my eyes closed, I thought hard. A dark force suddenly took control, an electric shock shooting through my veins and empowering me with an unknown ability. I could feel that radiate from my own heart and within the hearts of the two famished vampires. With the colour returning to my vision, I see the two bodies dropping in pain.

Having complete concentration was enough to knock them both to the ground with cardiac arrest.

Gasping in agony, Rido roared.

"I shall have my revenge, daughter of Juri!"

Drawing my eyes away from those monsters, I ran, never bothering to look back.

A starry sky and blackness made me even more afraid. Where was I to go? With Zero at Yuki's side and two serial killers out to suck me dry, I had no help at hand. I didn't even know how to reach the academy from here, and my powers were limited since I didn't know exactly how to master them.

I stood alone. Stuck in a web of lies and betrayal, what was I to do?
