Fairy Curse
Chapter twenty-one- Bringer of death
Natsu:

The fire raged around Natsu, black smoke made it hard to breathe and his eyes stung. The screams and wails tore into his heart like a knife, and he could do nothing but watch in horror as the guild fell apart around him.

The huge oak beams snapped and fell, their ends burnt and on fire, as the beam crashed onto the floor a huge cloud of ash and smoke would fan out like a wave, and the area surrounding it would be engulfed with fire.

Lucy was gone, Gajeel was gone, and all that was left in the place where he lay was a large pool of blood and a burning tapestry. Mirajane was dragging Evergreen away from Elfman's battered body, as the beam above them made a horrendous groan, the end splintering and burning.

It would fall on them soon, the huge wooden structure that they used to call home would crush them and trap them beneath it as they burned.

Natsu had tried to help, he had tried to run over and stop the beam from crushing them, but as he moved he only created more destruction, more screams and yells. More fire, it wasn't him that was doing this, it wasn't him; he would never do this. He was trapped, inside a beast.

As it became clearer in his mind, he became more determined to deny it. He called out again, cried to his friends, what happened, who did this?

But the horrific growl that left his lips was only further proof to the horror that was unfolding.

He did this.

He was the one that was spreading the fire, the heat burned his eyes as it flew from his mouth, it coated the environment like a spray hose, the tapestries catching fire and the wooden benches collapsing.

The people were screaming. They were screaming at him, as he came closer they ran and panicked.

He had to stop this, he was killing his friends. Natsu turned away from the fire,he didn't know what was happening, and that scared him. But instead of two legs, he had four, he could feel them as they moved behind him.

He panicked.

Beams creaked and snapped as he swung around, the fire becoming more savage as the force blew the flames.

And that was when he saw it, the reflection of the beast in the mirror.

It sat there, among the flames, the glass cracked and burnt, blood ran down the side like a scene from a horror movie. But even through the blackening glass the monster could still be seen, hidden among the black and red flames around it.

Huge amber and black slitted eyes stared into it, surrounded by black smoking scales, a huge muscled neck, long black scaled legs and Sharp bloodied claws.

Huge wings rested on its sides and a spiked tail swung around behind it, creating even more mess as it knocked over benches and spread the fire.

Natsu froze.

He blinked.

The monster blinked.

And that was when he freaked out.

A dragon, he was a dragon, he did this to his guild, he killed Elfman.

As he screamed in horror and shame, another terrifying roar echoed through the burnt and destroyed structure of the guild.

He couldn't deny it any longer, he was the one who was killing his friends, he was the one who broke Evergreen's heart, the one that made Lucy scream and the one that caused Levy's wailing. Levy, Levy was crying over Gajeel, and Gajeel had a huge bite mark. Was that him too?! Of course it was; what else was there that could cause damage like that to a man like Gajeel?

He wanted to cry, but could a dragon cry?! Dragon's don't feel that kind of emotion, he was stuck inside this shell of a beast, with no control.

He spread his wings and gave another roar, the force of his wings blowing the fire and clearing the smoke. And that was how he saw her- the figure charging towards him, tears at the corners of her eyes as she swung her biggest blade at his neck.

He tumbled backwards as the sword narrowly missed his jugular, and instinctively hissed and collected a load of fire in his mouth, the corners of his skin lighting up and orange sparks showing through the gaps in his teeth. But before he could release his fire onto his attacker he felt a huge impact on the back of his head.

As his head crashed into the tiled floor below him he could see the cracks in the stone, the fire collected in his mouth found a new target as another beam came crashing down.

Natsu turned his head at his new enemy and immediately froze, Grandpa, Erza, Lucy, Loki, Gray, Juvia, Happy, Carla and Wendy had formed a circle below him, he towered above them, it was scary how much bigger he was compared to the friends he loved to surround himself with.

But not like this, Lucy had tears streaming down her face and Loki was next to her, awaiting his next orders. Grandpa stood the closest, his form larger and his hand still smoking from the spell he had just attacked Natsu with.

Each of them looked distraught, distraught but defiant; their angry looks bore into Natsu's mind as they prepared to attack.

He had just killed their loved ones, destroyed their home, they had a right to be angry. Maybe he should just let them attack; he should pay for what he had done.

No, he couldn't do that, he had no control over what he was doing; he would attack them in self defence. He had to get out of here before he hurt anyone else.

Erza came forward first, she walked with her head down as she approached him, her sword dragging behind her, Natsu had never seen this armour before, but the black and gold steel plates gave him the feeling she didn't just put it on a whim, this was meant for dealing with him.

As she came closer and lifted her sword Natsu started to flap his wings, he had to get away before he retaliated. Erza took this as a sign of attack and swung her sword, she screamed at the top of her lungs as she brought her sword down across his chest.

"Naaaaaatsuuuuuu!"
