[A/N: So another super short chapter, but I promise the next one will be longer and the plot will finally be moving along. This chapter is kinda like a Christmas chapter since Lady and the Tramp starts on Christmas. Reviews are appreciated. Enjoy the chapter!]
By the way if you're in the mood to listen to me after that debacle with Monstro you should change forms for this world.
Why?
Do you really want to stick out again like you did in Nottingham?
So change into what?
A dog.
Fine, I'll be a dog if it pleases you.
What's with the pissy mood?
I'm pissy because you kept a secret from me.
What was the secret?
Don't pretend like you don't know.
I really don't know so do enlighten me.
You knew that Monstro didn't have a heart and you just let me waste my time anyway.
I was only having a bit of fun.
Well it wasn't funny.
Aren't you the least bit curious on where this tunnel lets out?
Fine, where am I going?
It's called Italian Romance
Sounds awful. Erik could see a faint pin prick of light up ahead before he changed his form.
It was dark outside and was making him think back to Jazzy Alleys. "As long as I don't run across anyone unpleasant it should be fine." He felt cool scales slink onto his back and glanced over his shoulder to see that Antonia had slithered onto his back. "Hello Antonia. Do you want something?"
"Why are you always so short?" Her voice sounded more like a hiss.
"I'd love to know why that keeps happening."
As they walked down the street Erik couldn't figure out how the world had gotten its name. "There's nothing Italian here and there's no romance. Why is it named Italian Romance?" He could see a shadow in front of him and walked a little closer to it.
The shadow was a scruffy grey puppy who looked like a stray. He had a bone in his mouth and was contently chewing on it. He seemed to realize he had company and looked up. "Do you need something?"
"No, I'm just a bit hungry and was wondering where you got that bone."
"I found it in that garbage can."
Erik looked over at the can and grimaced. "I'm going dumpster diving oh boy."
The grey puppy was more paying more attention to Chiyo. "You got a name, pigeon?"
"Chiyo and I better stop you there since you're way too young for me."
"Well I'm Tramp and-"
"That's nice….master do you need some help with that can?"
"Help would be appreciated."
Chiyo walked over to the can and got up on her hind legs to look inside. "There's almost a whole chicken in here if you don't mind the cake icing on it."
"Great, get it out."
Even with the icing on it the chicken was delicious. Only Chiyo and Erik were partaking since Antonia and Puck had different diets.
Tramp looked down at his bone then over at the chicken; his stomach growling. "Not that I'm still hungry or anything, but that chicken smells really good."
Erik glanced over at him then down at the chicken. "What makes you think I should share with you?"
"I doubt you can eat that whole chicken yourself."
"Chiyo is helping me in case you haven't noticed."
Tramp heard his stomach growl again and cautiously went a little closer. "Even with two of you eating I doubt you could finish it."
"You can have the scraps since you're so interested in eating trash."
"You're eating it too."
"I haven't eaten in forever."
"Neither have I."
There wasn't that much meat left on the bones when Tramp got to the carcass, but he soon picked it clean.
"So…where's the heart?"
Tramp looked up from the chicken. "What about a heart?"
"Nothing. It looks like there's a neighborhood over there. It couldn't hurt to poke around a little."
It was quiet cold outside and the threat of snow was hanging around the cold evening air. There was one house that was brightly lit that looked like it could be promising. With Chiyo kneeling down Erik clambered onto her back to look through the window. "Is it really Christmas?"
"What's Christmas?"
"You're kidding right?"
Chiyo shook her head.
"You mean to tell me you've never heard of Santa or anything?"
"No. Remember I didn't exist until a short time ago."
"True. Well when I find the heart I'll explain it. Looks like they're opening presents." He nearly fell down when Chiyo began wagging her tail. "Watch it down there."
"Why are there presents? Should I get you something?"
"Don't worry about it. And presents go along with Christmas. It's all about giving or some such nonsense."
The woman in the house had just pulled the lid off a box revealing a puppy.
"They put a dog in a box? Wait a minute…."
Glittering on the tag of the puppy's collar was a heart.
"Weird so the heart is on the dog's collar." He hoped of Chiyo's back. "Mission accomplished let's go."
"What's Christmas?"
"Well Christmas is when you're supposed to get together with your family. You eat good food you open presents and you watch sappy movies together."
"Are we going to do anything for Christmas?"
"I don't suspect so."
"How come?"
"We don't have a tree, there are no presents, I'm a horrible cook, shall I go on? We'll do something next year."
