Chapter 21 - Morning Carter
In the morning, Gibbs stood up and checked the two soldiers in the adjacent room. Seeing them in each others's arms, he closed the separation door and decided to order breakfast. He invited Ziva to take the bathroom, before he and Jacob.
Sam woke without opening her eyes, enjoying the security nest that enveloped her. She recognized the Colonel's arms on her, with the familiar scent of his cologne. She sighed of wellness. When Jack heard her do, he stroked her back gently.
"Hey Carter, you're okay?"
She put her head between his shoulder and neck, then she nodded, tickling Jack with her hair.
"With such a waking, I can only be well" she assured, moving her head back.
"Caaarter" Jack growled, not wanting her to get used to.
"I know, sir," she said, with sad and tired look on her sleepy face.
She wanted to get out of his arms but he held her closely. This time, Jack plunged his face in Sam's neck. He whispered so low that Sam had to strain to be sure she understood everything.
"What I feel is so strong that I'm afraid of not being able to let you go, if I lose control."
Sam ran her fingers through his short hair and let them go down to his neck. She pulled away from him slightly, to fix him. He swung and positioned himself over her to kiss her. The kiss was gentle but Sam felt Jack's passion through his strokes. He rarely lost control and she was the only one who knows how to make him turn on one side or the other. Sam tried not to let go but that kiss made her lose all common sense. She let him do, not daring to initiate other caresses. Soon, Jack stopped and stared at her. She plunged into his eyes and instinctively, she kissed back. Reassured by her initiative, Jack was a little less sweet and a little more pressing.
They didn't hear the separating door open but a man, chasing an imaginary cat in his throat, was heard. Jack almost jumped out of the bed, releasing his grip on his companion.
"Sorry to interrupt" Gibbs said softly, to be heard only by the couple "but breakfast has arrived."
He left the room shortly after and Jack threw an apology look to Sam. She went to the bathroom to shower and try to calm her senses. She then put on her usual BDU. Jack quickly dressed and joined the other in Daniel's room. He greeted everyone and poured himself a coffee, nonchalantly. He suspected that Gibbs wouldn't reveal their secret but the look on Jacob's face was more than he could bear. Sam appeared a few minutes later, wet hair. She greeted everyone and settled. Jack handed her a mug, which he had filled with coffee. She thanked him with a smile and their eyes locked for a moment. They became experts in silent communication.
McGee called Gibbs shortly after, saying that he had worked all night and had spotted activities on Barakat Abd-al-Malik's accounts - the one they suspected to be the Goa'uld's right arm - and that he thought he knew where he was. Gibbs hung up and gave his workmates a summary.
"And this ..." Jack began.
"Barakat Abd-al-Malik?"
"Yes, are we sure that it's a human?"
"From what I read with agent McGee, nothing shady - except his terrorist activities" Sam explained.
"Great, if it's a human terrorist bankrolled by a Goa'uld, in addition, we'll keep an eye on him" Jack decided.
"Sam, don't you think he's a Jaffa?" Jacob asked.
"I'm not sure but I don't think."
Gibbs questioned about Jaffas and Jack had to reveal Teal'c's true nature.
"So, if the Goa'uld always tended to indoctrinate others, you can easily assimilate Jaffas to fanatics, right?" Ziva offered.
Sam stared at her for a moment before answering in the affirmative.
"Taking a terrorist as a host and another as a henchman is quite logical."
"And violence breeds violence" Jack added.
"And we also monitor their bank accounts and phone records, they seem to have links with Egypt" Gibbs said.
"Where in Egypt ?" Sam asked.
"Middle Egypt, not the part frequented by tourists."
Sam called Daniel and asked him if he knew cities there.
"Sam, the religious capital of this part of Egypt is Abydos !"
"Abydos ? Are you kidding ?"
"No, Sam. Why?"
"Because our Goa'uld and his henchman have connections there."
"I send Fabiana back to you, you'll need her knowledge !"
Jack winced when he heard Sam talking about Abydos and Fabiana's return. He didn't know why, but he didn't like this woman.
