Hey guys! I know it has been a long time... a LONG time.. I am working on my degree. So I am so sorry!
I am going to try to write more often. ANYWAY I hope you guys enjoy!
She woke up to a call from her father.
"Hello?"
"Good Morning, Princess. Your mother and I are going to honeymoon... well in town.. but on the outside of town. I can leave you in charge while I'm gone, yes?"
"Yes, of course, Papa... you have..." her phone beeped, it was Chess, "nothing to worry about. Enjoy your honeymoon!"
"We love you!" Belle shouted so Autumn could hear.
"Love you too Mama." Autumn smiled. "And you as well Papa."
"I love you, dearest. If you need anything, call."
"Bye, Papa." she switched over to Chess. "Good morning."
"Where were you last night, after you said you went to bed?"
"Umm... in bed. Why?"
"Emma is looking for you. Come downstairs after you get dressed." he hung up.
"Goodbye..." she blanched sarcastically at her phone. She changed into skinny jeans, blouse and a blazer and went into the diner. "What's up?" She asked Chess, he took her arm and lead her out to main street.
"Were you sleep walking?" there was a distinct ice trail that went from the road to the sidewalk.
"No... I wasn't..." she went to follow it. "But seeing how I am acting owner of the town... and we have a distraught mayor... I think I am the one who has to check this out."
"Your father put you in charge?"
"You sound like that is a bad thing."
"No... just shocking. But maybe this is something we should call your dad about." Chess advised. "Ice magic is rare, and if you didn't so these, that means we don't know who did."
"It's fine. Come on." she followed the trail until she and Chess found themselves at the old shipping yard for the cannery. Emma and Hook were already there.
"What's going on?" Autumn asked, catching up to the two, Chess not far behind.
"Whoever made this trail encased Grumpy's van in ice last night." Hook said. Emma had her gun out and kicked open the door.
"Emma, don't. Whoever this is, is probably terrified." Autumn tried to advise, but it was too late. As they stepped into the yard, they came face to face with a large monster made of ice. "Damn..."
"Hey..." Emma said, lowering her weapon. "We don't want to pick a fight..."
"Swan."
"I'm seeing what it wants-" the four adults were blown to the ground by a frozen wind that came from the monster's roar. There was the sound of Emma's gun, then a pain in Autumn's arm.
"God DAMNIT!" she shrieked. Hook helped her up.
"We're running..." the monster chased them.
"We should call your father."
"You shot me!" Autumn told Emma.
"Sorry..."
"We REALLY need to call your father."
"No! I've got this." Autumn told Chess.
"It's been twenty minutes and we have found out someone in this town has very rare ice powers, you've been shot, and now we are running from an ice monster."
"Ugh! No... I'm in charge!"
"What do you mean you're 'in charge'?" Emma panted as they rounded a corner and took a break.
"Since our Mayor is, presumably, MIA... leadership of the town goes to Dad... who is on his honeymoon. He left me in charge."
"Great..." Hook muttered.
"I can't believe you shot me!" Autumn gasped as Chess looked at her arm.
"It's just a graze. It'll be fine." Chess passed a hand over it and healed it. The dwarves approached just as the monster turned the corner.
"Evil snowman! RUN!" Grumpy yelled, stirring everyone on the street into a panic as the monster tore through power lines. Strangely, the monster did not continue for them, or the town.
"Where is it heading?" Autumn asked.
"Looks like the forest." Emma panted.
"Oh no... that is where Robin and his men reside." Autumn groaned. "Really... not even an hour Autumn. How typical." she muttered to herself.
"Emma.. what is this about a snow monster?" Charming asked as he ran to the scene, he looked at Autumn.
"Why are you looking at me?"
"Because the time I fell down the stairs to find my west wing had been turned into an ice rink?"
"I had a nightmare! I was only a child, ok? And this wasn't me." Autumn huffed. "But we have to stop this thing before we find out who it was." she magicked them to Robin's compound.
"Autumn?" Robin looked confused by the group's sudden presence.
"We're looking for a giant snow monster." Hook said.
"It was headed into the woods." Charming added.
"Nothing like that has crossed out path-" There was a roar. In the distance the snow monster came through the trees. Little John reacted and shot the monster with his crossbow.
"Don't shoot it... it only make it..." The monster roared. "Mad." Charming sighed and looked at Autumn. "Can you do something?"
"How should I know?"
"You do the ice thing..."
"When I'm upset. It's not exactly voluntary... honestly I can barely make snow cones on demand. Everything else I've gotten better at, the ice is still eh.." Autumn wavered her hand side to side.
"Well we have arrows, a gun, a sword, and a hook. So it maybe the best shot we have love... give us a try?" Hook added. Autumn looked at Chess,
"Do you do ice?"
"I'm a cat warg... I don't even do water."
"Autumn!" Charming was on edge as the monster edged closer. Autumn stepped forward.
"Hey big guy-" the monster roared at her. "woah! Woah! It's cool. I'm not going to hurt you. See.." she took a deep breath and focused, a little flurry came from her hand. "I'm like the person who made you." he bend down. "Yeah.. see. I'm a friend. So.. do you wanna build a snow man?" she smiled. That was the wrong thing to say, the monster reared back and with a quick swipe of his arm everything went black for Autumn. She woke up to see everyone staring at a puddle of water and Regina behind it. "I'm okay!"
"Welcome to Storybrook, Marian." Regina said and before anyone else could catch her she disappeared.
"Sooo... let's recount your first day on your own as owner of the town." Chess mused. "Ice monster, shot, knocked unconscious by said ice monster aaanndd we still don't know how all of the ice stuff happened."
"Can we just not? I know it's really, really hard for you to not be a totally pain in my ass, but can you try?" Autumn rubbed the back of her head, feeling a slight lump forming.
"I am just saying..."
"Well there is no more monster... right?" Autumn turned to Charming and got up from the ground.
"For now."
"See, problem solved. So we can scratch ice monster off of our 'running of the town' list." she smiled.
"She won't even recognize my existence..." Emma huffed, after trying to walk after Regina.
"Good. She shouldn't have to." Autumn shrugged.
"Why would you say that?"
"Because you don't get to hurt people and then say that you didn't..."
"I never said I didn't hurt her... I just said-"
"Something else was more important to you, thus it should be more important to her. And since she should agree with you, your guilt should be assuaged. At the end of the day, it's still Emma is right, Regina is wrong for feeling. Also, let's face it, Regina isn't really an open book. You have to give her time. Don't keep bugging her." Autumn bushed herself off. Emma scoffed and walked off. "No that totally gives me confidence that you are taking my advise to heart... I don't feel ignored at all." she sighed and turned to Chess. "I am thinking of going to the shop. Will you grab lunch?"
"Cuz I'm an errand boy?"
"No, because I've had a shit morning and I would LOVE a burger and iced tea... please?" Autumn pinched the bridge of her nose.
"I'll get it for you, love." Hook smiled and took a glance at her arm, then to the back of her head. "You should get that checked out-"
"Hook, love..."
"Want cheese on your burger?" Hook smiled.
"And..."
"Lots of ketchup. Got it love." he walked off then turned to Chess. "Check her injuries out." Autumn sighed.
"What do you need from the shop?" Chess asked.
"I don't know. But if there is someone in this town with my powers, my dad will have some clue in his shop."
"Fair enough." he shrugged. "Just don't get yourself shot again."
"Is this going to be my whole day?"
"Your whole life, darling. Your whole life." He smiled, looped his arm with hers, and magicked them. Autumn went to behind the counted and pulled out the record cards to find all of them in that drawer were empty. She tried the one next to it, then frantically pulled all of them out.
"They would be all blank..." she muttered, then the bell jingled. It was Hook and Emma with her lunch.
"What?" Emma asked, observing Autumn's look of disbelief.
"Blank." Autumn scoffed bitterly, then she flipped the mini cabinet that held the 'records'. "They're all fucking blank!" That cause Chess to come from the back, the three of them looked at Autumn, eye brows raised.
"What were those?" Hook asked, placing her lunch on the counter.
"Those..." Autumn pushed all of the blank cards that landed on the counter onto the ground. "are supposed to the record cards. The records on everything in this shop, thus everyone in the town. But they are blank."
"That's impossible. Gold has given me information from those card before. He has given them out..." Emma said, shuffling the cards around with her boot.
"Yeah... I know. But to regular people.. they are blank." She unwrapped her food and took a bite.
"Cuz you had a bad day..." Chess sang softly in the tense quiet of Autumn's disbelief and anger.
"You know! I didn't ask for a Missy!" She snapped. "You're literally the Missy to my Doctor. Like I don't know if we are enemies or friends..."
"We're frenimies and I've never tried to kill you." Chess shrugged.
"Yet."
"You know... I am just used to not understanding what you are saying half the time." Hook shook his head.
"This one is a Doctor Who reference." Emma smiled. "I guess we are just going to find who it is the old fashion way."
"Don't give me old fashion way. You use an app to find people now." Autumn smiled.
