"Haley James Scott how may I help you?" Haley said into the phone.
"Haley? It's Shelly. From high school."
"Shelly, like Clean Teen Shelly?" Haley whispered changing the phone to the headset, walking into one of the conference rooms.
"Yeah. I guess I'm never going to live that down." Shelly said laughing.
"No probably not but neither has Chase, so I think you'll be okay." Haley said laughing too.
"Would you be able to go out to lunch sometime?" Shelly said twirling her hair nervously on the other end.
"I'm free today if that works for you?" Haley said smiling when sue saw Jake looking around for her. "We could meet at Karen's Café my treat?"
"Oh sure I'm not one to pass up a free meal. Around 12:30?"
"Sounds like a plan. See you then Shelly." Haley said hanging up the phone. Turning around to see Jake in the doorway. Haley smiles walking through the doorway past Jake. "All be taking my lunch around 12:30."
"Wait. See who, when? Haley!" Jake said running to Haley.
Ring ring
"Hello? Baker residence." Sam answered running down the hallway to pick up the phone.
"Samantha?" Rebecca asked. "I know its you. Please answer."
"How did you get this number?" Sam asked rudely.
"I asked around. Why are you upset with me? All I want is my kids."
"Why am I upset with you? I'm sorry let me write you a note, give it to the neighbor and maybe I'll answer you." Sam said tempted to hang up hearing Brooke opening the front door looking over at Sam seeing she was about to cry. "Leave us alone. They have a family here who loves them more than you ever did."
Brooke took the phone.
"Hello? Rebecca? Is this you?" Brooke said calmly. "Hello?"
"Yes. I was just wanting to..."
"First, I don't care what you want. Second, stop calling. We don't want to hear from you." Brooke said hanging up the phone turning to Sam but she had already taken off down the hallway.
"Hey Penny Girl, are you awake from your nap?" Sam said running back into her room hearing Penny crying in her pack n play sitting next to Sam's bed.
"Are you being a good girl for me?" Sam said picking Penny up out of the pack n play.
"Hold you? Hold you?" Penny said reaching for Sam.
"Yes. I'll hold you baby." Sam said smiling at Penny.
"Rock?" Penny said pointing to the rocking chair.
"I love you, baby." Sam said sinking into the rocking chair in the corner of her room rocking Penny.
"Good Afternoon Haley." Everyone shouted.
"Hello everybody." Haley said smiling. "Go ahead to the play room Lyddie."
"Yay! Okay Mommy." Lydia said running to the back of the café.
"Hey Millie, Can I get two waters over here?" Haley said sitting down kicking off her shoes. "God my feet are killing me."
"Here you go Hales. Anything else?" Millie asked sitting down the two waters.
"No Millie not yet. I'll let you know." Haley said trying to rub her feet. "Thanks."
"I'm pulling up to Karen's Café now. Call if you need anything. I'll probably be here until 1:30-2 at the latest." Shelly said getting out of her car walking into Karen's Café noticing Haley sitting at a table in the corner by the window.
"Hey." Haley said waving Shelly over.
"Hi." Shelly said nervously sitting down.
"How have you been?" Haley asked taking a drink of her water.
"I'm great. How about you? How is your son right?" Shelly asked trying to ease into a conversation.
"He is great. His name is Jamie. He is 12 now."
"Wow that seems so long ago. Graduation day and your speech. You look the same."
"Yeah big and pregnant." Haley said laughing. "So do you."
"Thanks."
"When did you get back in town?" Haley said curiously.
"A few days after Halloween."
"And you already have a date?"
"Yeah, Jake seems like a good guy. And his boys were really sweet."
"They are. Do you remember Jake from high school?"
"He looks familiar. Why?"
"Do you remember the guy on the basketball team that had a daughter?"
"That's him? I wasn't sure how many kids he had."
"He has four, but he'll tell you all about them Saturday he lives for those kids. His daughter Jenny just turned 13 she is best friends with Jamie and Lucas's little sister Lily."
"What about you are you still married to Nathan?" Shelly said pointing to Haley's ring.
"Since junior year." Haley said twirling the ring on her finger.
"God I can't even imagine being married now let alone in high school."
"Mommy! Mommy!" Lydia yelled running from the back of the café, hopping into the chair next to Haley. "Aunt Mia gave me some cookies can I eat them? Please?"
"Sure baby, but sit at the table. Can you say hi to my friend Shelly?" Haley said waving to Mia as she came through the back door.
"Hi Miss Shelly. I like your hair its pretty." Lydia said before settling into the chair to eat her cookies.
"Thank you. Your hair is pretty too. It looks just like your mommy's." Shelly said smiling at the little girl. Haley flinched a little putting her hand on her stomach.
"Mommy how's sissy is she kicking?" Lydia said looking over at her mom.
"She is, do you want to feel?" Haley asked watching Lydia's face light up.
"Yes Mommy!" Lydia said placing her hand on Haley's stomach giggling as she felt the baby kick her hand. "Miss Shelly I'm going to have a little sister soon."
"That is very cool." Shelly said smiling at Lydia as she finished her cookies getting up to go play some more.
"Bye Miss Shelly. Bye Mommy."
"I have a daughter too." Shelly said looking at Haley.
"You do? How old is she?"
"Her name is Cassie. She is eight. That's why I wanted to meet with you." Shelly said getting nervous again.
"You wanted to meet with me because of your daughter?" Haley asked confused.
"I was wondering if you had a babysitter I could use. But I wasn't sure if Jake was listening in so I didn't want to ask you over the phone."
"I can watch her Saturday if you'd like. You could have Jake pick you up from my house after you bring Cassie over, he won't even come inside when he drops off his girls they come over too much."
"Really, that would be great. Thank you."
"You're welcome. I can't wait to meet her." Haley looked over at the counter. "Mia. Come over here. I have someone I want you to meet."
"Shelly Simon this is Mia Catalano she is Chase Adam's girlfriend and carrying my two beautiful nephews/nieces. Mia this is Shelly Jake's date for Saturday."
"Wait Shelly Simon. You went to school with Chase and everyone right you were the born again virgin chick?"
"Yeah, that's me." Shelly said sarcastically. "You are having twins?" Shelly said as the bell chimed and someone walked in.
"Yeah Chase is very excited." Mia said looking up to see Alex standing in the doorway. Haley looked up to see why Mia had stopped smiling.
"Crap." Haley said her smile fading too as they watched Alex storm back out the door.
