I couldn't move even though I wanted to.
I could only stare at Edward as he stared at me too. Tears threatened to leak as I tried to smile and he walked faster towards me now. He had let go of the luggage trolley that held his bags in front of me and his arms carried me up around my thighs, lifting me higher.
"My Bella," he whispered. "My sweet, sweet Bella."
I hugged him tightly and cried harder into his neck, not willing to let go of him. I didn't want to after going four months without him.
"I'm sorry," I told him. "I didn't want to break up with you, I swear."
"I know, I know." He kissed my hair and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have just allowed you to leave like that."
"I love you." I said. "I'm never going to do that again."
"I know, and I love you too. Come on," he continued to carry me as he pushed his trolley to the parking lot, where I had gotten down from his body but still held his hand as I led everyone to the car. Emmett volunteered to drive to the hotel and I allowed him to, giving him the keys and the address of the place.
My eyes felt heavy as I sat between Edward & Alice and I laid down my upper body on Edward's lap. He looked down at me and smiled a little, one hand on my cheek and the other playing with my hair. I tugged at the hand on my face and laced my slender fingers with his large and long ones.
"Are you feeling tired?" He asked softly.
I nodded slowly. "I've been like this for the past few months. I usually take naps during the afternoon. This little peanut's draining me out." I whispered, smiling a little as I brought his hand to my stomach.
He frowned a little. "Why didn't you contact me about the baby when you found out?"
"I wanted to, but I don't know why I didn't. It was still the first month I was living here, and Renée would have suspected that something was wrong." I replied.
"We can actually just pack up and leave the city for New York now that we've got you. Do you want to do that? Then we can just pack up your bags from the hotel and leave." Edward asked.
I shook my head. "I can't. I promised Renée that I'd be back in a week. I know that it sounds pretty stupid to still keep to my word to someone who brought me here against my will, but she's still my mother. Hopefully after talking to my father and straightening things out, she'll understand."
"Bella, you're too good for your own being. She may never change her mind and from what I've heard, she's pretty damn stubborn. You have to understand— certain people can't change." He told me.
"But the rest can. I might simply have too much faith, but I think she has the will to. I don't hate her because the blood tie that we have prevents that from happening. She's my mother, and hopefully when I get back, she'll be okay." I pursed my lips.
"All this talking is making you tired," Edward finally said. "I'll carry you up to your bed."
I gave him one last smile before I slept, since I remembered how tired I'd be after a date and he would bring me up to the bed. I loved him for that.
I felt kisses all over my bare stomach and I rolled over to the other side of the bed, yawning but still not opening my eyes.
"Bella, wake up." Edward whispered. "Come on, it's almost six."
"It is?" I rasped, opening my eyes and finding him at my stomach. "Well, where do you want to go if you're waking me up?"
"It's not really me, but Rosalie wants to bring you out for some shopping, since that little peanut is growing bigger." He smiled up at me.
"Are you following?" I asked, sitting up.
"If you want me to be there, I'll be there."
I grinned. "I want you to follow."
He chuckled, pressing his lips against my stomach again while he still maintained eye contact with me. I could feel the rumble his laugh caused. "What do you think this little kid will be? A he or a she?"
I frowned, twisting my fingers with his hair. "I honestly never thought of it. If it's a little baby boy, I want him to look exactly like you. If it's a she..."
"She'll be spoiled endlessly by me and I want her to look exactly like you. She'll be my little princess and you're already my queen." He moved up to kiss my lips chastely, making me giggle.
"Okay, I know that it's a little too early, but how about names?" I asked.
"I don't know either." He replied. "You know what, while you & Rosalie go shopping for clothes, I'll go to the bookstore for those books on baby names okay?" He kissed my cheek before leaving the bed. "Come on, Rosalie told you to get ready in five."
It felt a little awkward arriving at the maternity section of Harrod's since I was much younger than any of the women here, but at least Rosalie & I had a cover story for this.
There were some middle-aged pregnant women giving us weird looks as we skimmed through the maternity clothes, but we managed to ignore them.
Finally, there was a saleswoman who approached us. I knew that she was a little curious about why we were here, but at least she was helping a little.
"Ladies, how can I help you?" She asked. She was in her early thirties, with blond hair and blue eyes. She kept looking from me and Rosalie.
Rosalie smiled and spoke up. "Well, we both are going to attend her cousin's birthday party and she's pregnant, so we were just looking around." She pointed to me and I smiled too.
The saleswoman returned the smile, but she didn't seem that convinced. Rosalie & I were pretty good actors since secret agents had to be great at lying, so we were going to convince her some more.
"Alright. Could you tell me what her cousin's size might be?" She asked.
I looked at Rosalie momentarily then at the saleswoman. "She's petite, kind of like me. Ugh, you know what? I'll just try the clothes on for her sake. I don't want her returning the clothes because she can't fit." I pretended to grimace.
"You are in luck because there are a lot of clothes for her petite size. What kind of style does she like? Does she go for polka dots or just plain colors?"
"Plain colors, definitely, but she likes to switch it up a little. She's quite the classic but trendy type." Rosalie told her.
"I'll be right back." She said, then left.
I heaved a huge sigh of relief inwardly and Rosalie gave me a bright smile. "Oh my god, she almost didn't believe us." She whispered.
"We've got to act normal. It wouldn't be good if she figures it out." I told her.
The saleswoman returned with a bunch of clothes that ranged from when the bump would start to show to when it would be the end of the third trimester.
Rosalie grimaced. "Good god, do pregnant women really need that much clothes?"
"Well, they all look nice. I'm pretty sure there'll be other people giving maternity clothes to my cousin, but we'll just give all of this." I responded, putting on a show. I then looked at the saleswoman with a pleasant smile. "We'll take all."
"Of course," she quickly went on to pack the clothes into five heavy paper bags that Rosalie carried three while I carried two. I paid with my credit card and we left the section. I felt the weight lift off my shoulders and we met up with Edward who bought every baby-naming book there was in the place.
"Well, aren't you guys anxious about naming the kid," Rosalie remarked with a look of disbelief marked on her face. "Come on, let's get back to the hotel before Emmett & Alice get bored."
We did, and Edward was the one who drove us back. After putting down the bags of clothes in my suite, we met up in Alice's and Edward was armed with the countless books he got but I stopped him.
"Seriously?" I cocked an eyebrow at him. "You've bought probably seven of these. We're just taking two, then we can ask the guys what to name this little peanut."
He hesitated, but then nodded. "Fine."
Everyone gave us weird looks when we arrived at Alice's door with a couple of baby-naming books in our hands.
"Ooh, the anxious nearly-new parents are getting ready," Alice rubbed her hands as she sarcastically commented. "Are we going to spend hours locked up in here with baby names?"
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up, Alice. We just wanted to hear what you guys think is nice."
"And it would take hours because there are millions of names to pick." She stated with a straight line set across her lips and her eyebrows raised.
"Maybe, if you guys can cooperate." I said. "Let's get this started."
Rosalie had one of the books in her hand as she looked through the names with Emmett while Alice went to check some out online.
"I really like the name Audrey," Rosalie said, looking up at me. "It's such a pretty name."
"Must we really look at girls' names first? I really want to look through the boys," Emmett whined.
She smacked him on the head. "Shut up, you fucking goofball."
"Audrey, Brooklyn, Catherine... I really hate these type of books. It makes you keep changing your mind on what your kid's name should be with the wide selection of pretty names." Rosalie sighed, exasperated.
"I like Evangeline and Charlotte," Alice suddenly said.
"Maxwell sounds like a great name or a guy." Emmett suggested. "'Hey Maxwell, how was the hot blonde chick? Did you get laid good?'"
"I will murder you if you talk to my son like that," I said in disbelief.
"Like I said," he said to Alice & Rosalie with raised eyebrows and pursed lips, "she's no fun."
"If she wasn't any fun, Edward wouldn't be here and she wouldn't be knocked up." Alice deadpanned.
He just rolled his eyes at her and went back to the book.
"Henry Francis," Edward suddenly said in my ear.
I looked at him. "What?"
"Henry Francis Cullen, or Swan if you prefer."
"Henry Francis? How about Henry Ethan or Henry Thomas?" I asked. "I really like Henry Thomas Swan-Cullen."
He kissed my bare shoulder. "Whatever you want, love."
"Girls' names now," I said. "I really like Helena and Keira."
He pointed to a name on the page. "How about Loretta or Louise?"
"Louise is adorable, but I was thinking more to Olivia or Pénélope." I told him. "Sutton seems like a really strong name."
"Harper sounds like a really strong one too."
"Ivory," I looked at the vanity table that was made out of white wood. "Ivory Harper."
"I love that name." Edward smiled crookedly and closed the book in my hands. "I think we're done for now."
Okay, so the baby names have been chosen! So who do you guys think the baby will be? An Ivory Harper or a Henry Thomas? Maybe even possibly both? Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm not going to make Bella have twins.
Okay, so they're also possibly going to confront the character everyone seems to really hate (ahem, Renée, ahem) in the next chappie. That's all I'm going to say, so for now, I'm off!
xx
