*Comes skidding in via awesome baseball slide but totally misses the plate and slams into a wall* Hey folks it's me again! Miss me? Yeah me neither.
So I'm waiting for those paper balls to fly. And even more so since this chapter is so short but it just fit so well as a spring board for the naughty- uh, I mean the next chapter that making it any longer would have just dragged it a bit. I wanted to move on to the next part I have planned. I made you guys wait much too long for this update and that I apologize for but alas school is demanding and writing just shouldn't be another job. Let the imagination flow and the words will come in time.
I have the most AWESOME followers! And this author thanks you all for your support and patience. Don't you worry, this story ain't over. Not by a long shot!
Chapter 22 is almost finished and already I've got 23 planned out. Phew! Lots of plotting and writing there alone. But enough about the technical stuff~
Enjoy!
This evening had not turned out as Kevin had planned. There were a great many things he could have shown Edd had his friend, if he could even call her that at the moment, not gone and screwed up his night. The more he thought about the waitress the angrier he felt, the simmering in his belly boiling over into a hot and heavy steam. He needed to let loose some of this steam before he carried on and said something he might regret. Edd went with him without saying a word, first to seek out Nat and then to leave with the fuming redhead. It was safe to say Goldberg was not happy to see them go.
"Noooo! You gotta stay." Nat pouted from the middle of his four man Congo line. Well, that's what Kevin would have called it for Eddward's sake. The teal haired boy was squished hip to hip with two outrageously good looking men. "Come join us! Edd can stand right next to me." He shouted over the music, his matching teal brows bobbing up and down suggestively.
Kevin rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. "Dude I'm out. I'm taking Edd home before it gets too late. Make sure bitchzilla gets home safely."
Nat lifted a fine knitted brow, scrutinizing the unhappy look on his best friend's face. Kevin merely shook his head promising to explain it all later. Now just wasn't the time.
Eddward followed closely behind, their hands clasped loosely together but their fingers tightly tangled as not to lose the other as they moved through the crowd towards the exit. They collected their belongings and Kevin practically dragged Edd to the back of the building where he parked his beloved bike. The metal beast sat proudly among the parked cars, its silver body gleaming underneath the pale light of the moon while it's darker parts blended seamlessly into the shadows. A rogue breeze swept across the nape of Edd's neck; the caressing tendrils of his black hair brushed against the white of his cheek as Kevin slapped on his helmet and held the spare out to him. Eddward took it with shaking hands, briefly wondering if he should say anything. He opted not to.
Once mounted, Kevin held out his hand. "Here." It didn't take much coaxing to get him on. With one swift kick Kevin had the bike roaring to life. Edd shimmied himself into place with his arms wrapped around the man's waist, holding on tight as Kevin steered them out of the parking lot and onto the street. The whole ride home was spent so in awkward silence. The only sound filling the chilly night air was the purr of the bike's motor and the insistent thump of Edd's heart as it hammered away in his chest. His fingers sought the expansion of muscle beneath the thick material of Kevin's jacket, searching for something solid to hold on to as they flew down the road. Edd had never been one to handle confrontation easily and it very much bothered him that Kevin was as upset as he was. Admittedly he was a tad confused. Why did Cassandra get so upset? And why did Kevin act so belligerent with her?
He knew it was none of his business but he would be lying if he said he wasn't the least bit curious. He chalked it up to having lived in a small town for much too long.
The bike pulled smoothly into the parking garage and the echo of the engine died as the door fell shut behind them. Kevin gave an aggravated huff before yanking off his helmet. "You ok back there?" The cool air of the room ticked his reddened cheeks as he felt Edd's arms pull away from him, taking with them the comforting heat that had somehow managed to calm him. The entire ride back he had felt himself falling into the boy's embrace, memories of their one shared night flashing to the forefront of his mind. The loss of those arms left him feeling bereft and needing more.
"Edd?"
Glancing over his shoulder he spotted the dork cradling the spare helmet in his hands, staring down at his warped reflecting in the plastic red dome. His hat sat crookedly on his head with tendrils of black shiny hair poking out from beneath. The nerd spoke softly, so softly Kevin had to strain his ears to hear him. "What did you say?"
Edd sighed, his blue eyes glancing away. "Would you mind?"
"Mind what?" Kevin asked tugging off his gloves.
"Perhaps expressing the reason for yours and Cassandra's volatile behavior?" He cleared his throat, touching his fingers to the base of his neck just centimeters below his Adams apple. "My apologies. I hadn't meant for that to sound so condescending. I merely wish to know what could have possibly taken place for the two for the two of you to have been so-"
Kevin cut him off with a heavy sigh. "Look, I'm sorry about earlier. I don't know what got into her. Or me." He ran his fingers through the bright colored strands of his bangs. His hand felt hot and clammy, a combination he wasn't fond of. "I don't get women. One minute they're happy and then next it's murder." Eddward tilted his head, only able to understand this partially, so Kevin continued. "I just… I don't know. I was hoping to have a good time with my friends and suddenly she drags you off and you two are talking…" The mental image alone was enough to make him twitch. Just the mere thought of the dork spending his time with anyone but him was making Kevin sick to his stomach. He was my date for fucks sake, Kevin thought bitterly. His eyes fell to the ground where he spotted Edd's shadow and right away he relented some of his anger.
Kevin looked humorously disgruntled. The lines of his face were pulled taut and his lips pressed into a very straight line. His fingers curled until his knuckles turned white. The bite of his nails into his palm forced his hands to release their grip, and at the same time he let out a breath he hadn't realize he had been holding.
"Uncool man. Uncool."
Oddly enough Edd felt flattered. To put it simply: Kevin had gotten jealous.
Oh my. So this is what caused him to be so upset. His cheeks turned an amazing shade of pink. "Kevin had I known, I never would have-"
"Hey," The sudden power in Kevin's voice shook Edd to his very core. "Don't go apologizing. You didn't do anything wrong." Forcing a smile Kevin turned a bit more to face the sockhead. He leaned back far enough to rest his head on Eddward's shoulder. Their eyes immediately locked and right away Kevin started to feel peace come over him. He was impressed. How this dork brought serenity to without even trying was beyond him. He chuckled, rubbing his nose. This kid was really something else. "Keep talking like that kid. I could always find a better use for that mouth of yours."
Edd gaped, his mouth falling open in disbelief. "I-I beg your pardon?!"
Did that really just come out of Kevin's- oh wait, this was Kevin Barr. Of course it did.
"Instead of running your mouth you could always put it to work you know." Even from below he looks real cute. Damn I really want to kiss him now. He reached up a hand to touch the soft flesh of Edd's lips. Just as he thought. They were as soft as rose petals.
Edd peered down at him with wide eyes, the blue in them flickering with curiosity. "Kevin?"
"Shh." Kevin closed his eyes, feeling his lips curl into an arrogant grin. "If you keep talking I just might steal a kiss."
Eddward huffed, pulling his face from Kevin's touch. He refused to admit that a stolen kiss from Kevin sounded even the slightest bit fascinating; because it did. However his pride just wasn't up to taking a hit. "You may do no such thing. Here I am attempting to apologize with my sincerest regrets for the outcome of your night and there you sit mocking me." He pushed Kevin up into a sitting position. "I shouldn't have bothered." He said, crossing his arms defiantly.
Kevin smirked. Challenge accepted.
Yes I know it's short but that just means 22 will be around the corner super soon. Like, in two days if all goes as planned.
So I've been dabbling in some other fandoms. It's been an adventure I will say that much. Got any good ones you'd recommend?
Oh and let me know what you think of this story so far. It really helps. Ciao!
