I know, I know. It's been ages since I updated this story.
I'm sorry. I've just had major writer's block lately. I'm not sure why.
Thanks a million to Emily ( maranoplease) and Dani ( Delly_r5) for helping me out with their ideas! They were amazing and great and I definitely used them in this chapter :)
So enjoy! Surprise!
I own nothing.
"Hello?" Ross sleepily mumbled into his phone, rubbing his eyes as he yawned and waited for the person on the other end to answer back.
"Ross, dude! You won't believe what Rocky did," Ryland said after a few seconds.
He really wanted to know, really he did. But he was so damn tired, he didn't care at that moment.
"And goodbye," He said, moving his phone away from his ear, he had his thumb hovered above the button that was gonna end the call.
"No! Dude! Wait!" He heard Ryland yell and looked at Laura wondering if she could hear his brother's screaming.
He sighed, "what?" He said, putting the phone back to his ear. "And make it quick, I'm so tired, I need like six hours more of sleep."
"Don't you want to know what Rocky did?" Ryland casually asked.
"No, not at the moment, not really." Ross answered.
"Fine, I'll tell you later, but I'm going to tell you this right now," He paused before continuing, "I got the band a concert gig or whatever you want to call it at LA Live Nokia Club."
That woke him up.
"Dude!" Ross sat up so suddenly, it accidentally hit Laura, who made a noise of protest, but he wasn't paying much attention to her at that moment.
"Yeah, figured you'd want to hear that."
"Did you tell everyone else?" Ross asked.
"Yeah," Ryland said, "that's why I wanted to tell you what Rocky did… oh and open your front door." Before Ross could answer, Ryland hung up.
"Open my what now?" Ross stared at his phone confused and then heard loud knocking. Still confused, he walked over to it and opened it, his brothers, sister, Ellington, Vanessa and his mother, immediately came inside the apartment. "Wha-"
"Good morning, Ross!" Rydel said in a too cheery voice. She pinched his cheeks and he swatted her hand away which caused her to giggle.
"What the hell are you all doing here at eight in the morning?" He asked, sleepily rubbing his eyes.
"Didn't Ryland tell you the news?" Rocky asked him.
"Uh-"
"You were there when he told him the news, Rocky," Rydel shook her head, "anyway, ignore this bozo," She playfully pushed her brother away. "How freakin' cool is the news?" She squealed and hugged her brother, bouncing a bit in her spot.
"Pretty freakin' cool," He agreed and then thought of something, pulling back to look at her, "are you up for it?" He asked her, his tone quiet.
She nodded, "are you?"
He took a moment, but he smiled at her and nodded. She smiled back at him and then they shared another big hug.
"Ross, what's going on?" He heard and turned away from his sister to see his girlfriend walk into the room. She yawned and sleepily rubbed her eyes. After a moment, she opened them, her eyes wide as she realized they weren't exactly alone. She looked down at her slip dress and her eyes widened and Ross face-palmed.
"I feel like we've seen this before," Rocky muttered to Rydel who gave him a look, Ellington raising an eyebrow at him. He held his hands up defensively. "What? I'm just sayin'." Vanessa shook her head and then playfully pushed him. "Hey!"
Rydel rolled her eyes.
"Excuse me, I have to go um… be right back!" Laura quickly turned and ran into the bedroom, Ross running after her.
"Yeah, go get dressed Ross, good idea!" Rocky called after him and everyone turned to look at him. "What? Again, I'm just saying…oh never mind!"
Ross shook his head at his older brother and then stepped into the room. He shared a look with Laura as he closed the door, both of them not breaking eye contact until he had shut it. Then they burst out laughing and quickly got changed, going out to join his family once again.
"Okay, now that you two are dressed, Ross, would you like to share with your girlfriend the news?" Ryland asked Ross and he nodded, excitedly turning towards her.
"Ryland got us a gig at Club Nokia." He said and she smiled her eyes lighting up and she hugged him tight.
"I'm so happy for you!" She squealed and he laughed hugging her back.
"We start rehearsals this week," Riker told him.
"And I'm going to go shopping for your outfits." Stormie added.
"And I will not be joining her," Rydel smiled as everyone laughed, knowing very well about her true hatred for shopping.
Riker smiled at his siblings and bandmates and then put his hand in the middle of the small circle they had created. "We're back." He grinned, his smile bigger.
Ross smiled back, putting his hand on top of Riker's as everyone else did the same, Ryland, his mother, Vanessa and Laura included.
"READY SET ROCK!" They all yelled and then cheered.
After an hour of talking over what songs to play at the show and about where they were all to meet for rehearsals later that week, Rydel walked over to Rocky and pulled him to the side.
"Ready?" She asked him and he nodded. She lifted her head to address everyone else. "Hey, guys? Rocky and I have to um, work on a new song… we're in the process of writing together."
"New song?" Riker asked and she nodded. "Why weren't the rest of us in on it?"
"It's something we're working on together," Rocky repeated, "we uh, it's kinda like a special brother-sister song. For us." He shrugged, knowing that it wasn't a big deal as they all wrote songs separately or with others quite often.
Riker nodded, though he didn't look too happy.
"Can't wait to hear it." Ross smiled at them as Ellington did the same, nodding his head.
"It'll be great." Rocky assured them. Vanessa and Ellington stood up and walked over to their respective significant other.
"Have fun," Vanessa said, hugging Rocky and then kissing him.
He nodded, "will do, what are you up to today?"
She smiled, "having a sister day with Laura."
He smiled back, "enjoy it." He kissed her again and she nodded.
"Will do," She repeated, winking at him.
"I won't be long," Rydel said to Ellington and he nodded. "We still on for our date tonight?" She asked him and he nodded, smiling at her.
"So on." He assured her and then they shared a kiss. Rocky and Rydel the waved at everyone and opened the door, stepping out of it.
"Wait," Rocky said, "we all came in the same car, except for Ellington, how are we going to get there?"
Rydel smiled, "I borrowed his keyes." She said, "he knows, don't worry." She told him as soon as he had given her a look. "I just have to be extra careful, the car is his baby."
"Yeah, I really don't blame him there." Rocky joked. Rydel playfully rolled her eyes and then with that, they left the apartment building.
"You sure you're ready for this?" Rydel asked Rocky as she pulled up to the jail where their father was, currently housed in. Rocky turned to her, slowly nodding his head.
"You all had a chance to talk to him. I need to talk to him. I have things I need to say." He told her.
"Ryland hasn't come either," Rydel reminded him. "You don't have to do this."
"He hurt you, he hurt Ross, he hurt Riker, mom…" Rocky trailed off.
"He hurt you too," Rydel quietly added.
Rocky nodded, "I'm angry at him and he needs to know that."
"He does, but he doesn't care. That's the thing." Rydel tried to reason with him.
"You're just trying to talk me out of it now," Rocky accused.
"I'm not trying to do anything." Rydel insisted. "I just don't want you to get hurt again."
"Well," Rocky sighed, running his fingers through his hair, "he can't hurt us more than he already has."
Rydel sighed, nodding she turned off the car and then silently got out. Rocky soon followed her, joining her side by the trunk of the car. They both looked at the building and then at each other, before giving each other a nod and then walking forward.
"Why would Rocky and Rydel be writing a song together? Without us?" Riker asked, "it doesn't make sense."
"Why are you obsessing over it?" Ross asked him. "So they're writing a song together, big deal, you and Rocky used to right songs without us all the time."
"Kid's got a point," Ellington jumped in.
"Okay, we're leaving." Laura announced as she walked into the room where the brothers, Stormie and Ellington were. She leaned down to press her lips against Ross'. "See you later."
"Love you, be careful." He said and then kissed her again. She smiled.
"I will."
Ross gave Vanessa a look and she smiled, "don't worry, I got her." She assured him and with that, the two sisters left.
Riker was still deep in thought and Ross sighed, knowing that he was still obsessing over Rocky and Rydel leaving to work on something by themselves. He looked at Ellington and nodded in Riker's direction, Ellington nodded and then they both stood up.
"Come on bro, we're gonna go out and do something to get your mind off them and whatever it is they're doing." Ellington said.
"We can't just go out, we have shit to do and-"
"We need the other two band members to help with that." Ross reminded him, he looked behind him at Ryland, "dude you in?"
Ryland nodded, "hell yeah, I'm in."
"I will go home then and get dinner started," Stormie smiled at them, "Ross, you and Laura are welcome to come over later if you'd like."
"Thanks mom." He hugged her and with one last hug to everyone else, Stormie left.
"So, what are we gonna do?" Riker asked.
"Random shit," Ellington answered, "it's something my friends at school and I used to do, we had no clue what to do during the day, so we did random shit."
"Okay, Random shit." Ross repeated, "let's do it."
Laura laughed at Ross' text. "Looks like the boys are doing Random shit." She told Vanessa, who raised her eyebrow.
"Random shit? What in the world is that?"
"It's… actually, I have no idea. He said it was Ellington's idea." She turned her phone off and then wiggled her toes as the lady started to paint them. She giggled and Vanessa shook her head.
"You keep that up, your whole toe will be painted."
Laura giggled again and looked at her, "this is nice you know? Sister time."
"Yeah, you're right, it is." Vanessa agreed, "we don't get much of that these days."
"Well, I'm glad we're doing this now." Laura said and Vanessa smiled reaching her hand out, she took Laura's and squeezed her hand. "So, I heard that you and Rocky are feeling… feeling for each other," Laura wiggled her eyebrows suggestively and Vanessa laughed.
"Your boyfriend sure is a talker." She said and then looked down blushing. "Yes, we have feelings and um, I'm feeling them strongly."
"And?"
"And, nothing. We haven't had time to talk about it. The news about the show in a few weeks happened and now he's distracted."
"He's not distracted." Laura told her, "if that was true then… Ross wouldn't always be on me every time we see each other and I realize that wasn't the best example, but it is what it is." Vanessa laughed and nodded. "Just pull him to the side and talk to him. Trust me, it'll be good for you both."
Vanessa nodded and then changed the subject. Both girls laughed and had fun together and talked as though they hadn't seen each other in years.
"So at the show, which I just got a conformation for via email that it's next week," Ryland began, "excited guys?" He asked.
"Fuck yeah." Riker answered, "I am so pumped to play shows again."
"Did you tweet it?" Ellington asked Ross and he nodded.
"As soon as I got the news, everyone is really stoked." Ross answered, "my mentions are blowing up like crazy."
"Yeah, mine are too," Riker answered as they walked up to a miniature golf course. He looked at his brothers, "so, why are we playing miniature golf again?" He asked. "It seems like something Rocky would pick."
"While that is totally true," Ross agreed, he shrugged, "I don't know why. I haven't played miniature golf in ages and before you say anything Ellington, playing golf on the Wii, doesn't count." He pointed his finger at him and Ellington laughed.
"The girls are going to think we're so lame," Ryland let his head hang and Riker, Ross and Ellington burst into laughter. He looked at him, "seriously, we should be doing manly stuff." He pumped out his muscles and made his voice deeper.
"And that right there, just took down your man points," Ellington told him.
"Like he had any to begin with," Ross joked and earned a playful push from Ryland.
"Alright, buttheads, let's play some manly," Ellington made his voice deeper, "miniature golf and then do something else that's truly manly." Everyone laughed and agreed.
"Oh shit." Ross said as a girl looked directly at him and looked like she was going to faint. "Forgot we'd get recognized."
"It's all good, we can take a few pictures," Riker said.
The girl came up to them with her friends and asked for pictures. They took them and then pretty soon, more and more people were coming to ask for pictures.
"Maybe not a few pictures," Riker amended and Ross gave him a look.
"Where are Rocky and Rydel?" A girl asked.
"Working on another project," Riker answered, which was always their answer whenever a band member wasn't there.
"Where's your other half?" A girl asked Ross.
"With her sister." He responded.
"Do you miss her?"
"Of course."
The girl's eyes widened and he realized what just happened.
Damn. Crap.
"Are you two like a couple? Oh my god!"
"No, what? We're not… a couple, no, just… friends. Really good friends." He answered with a smile, "do you still want your picture?" He asked her and she nodded. He took the picture and then let out a sigh, hoping that he was clear enough and that the fan didn't think they were actually dating.
But all he could do was hope.
"Ready?" Rydel whispered to Rocky and Rocky nodded.
They walked up to the front desk.
"Can we please see Mark Lynch?" Rocky asked the security guard.
The security guard looked at Rydel, "I thought you hated him, why are you back?"
"I do and for support." She responded back, sharing a look with Rocky.
"I really feel like you and I should be on a first name basis at this point," The security guard said and Rydel couldn't help but laugh at him. He led them to a private room and then excused himself.
"Are you nervous?" Rydel asked and Rocky nodded. She leaned her head on his shoulder, "don't be, you'll be fine."
Rocky nodded again and then they both looked up when they heard the door open.
Laura was laughing and eating lunch with her sister, when she got a text from Maia.
Do you know of the rumour about you and Ross that's all over twitter right now?
"Oh no." Laura said and then quickly texted Maia back that she had no idea. She sent back a link and then told her that 'Raura' was currently the number one world wide trend on twitter. "Shit." She said, her heart beating fast as she opened the link.
"What's wrong?" Vanessa asked and Laura showed her the message on twitter. "Oh no."
"Why, how? What?"
Soon enough, she received a text from Ross, she looked at her sister apologetically. "Ross wants us to meet at the apartment."
Vanessa nodded and they both stood up, getting in Laura's car, they drove the apartment. Ross was already there and as soon as he saw her, he hugged her.
"Why did you just hug her like that?" Vanessa asked, "are you guilty of something?"
"No," Ross mumbled, "maybe, I-I don't know." He answered, "all I know is we tried to go mini golfing and this girls were like attacking us and one asked where Laura was and I said she was with you, Vanessa. Then they asked if I missed her and I said yes. So, she was all, 'are you dating? Oh my god!'" Ross' imitation of a teenage girl made everyone laugh. "Anyway, I said no, but I think she might have been the one to start the rumour."
"Okay, then what was the hug for?"
"Oh, I just wanted to hug you first, before you killed me, if that's what you planned on doing." Ross explained.
"Smart kid," Vanessa commented.
"Uh huh," Laura nodded, "the what's up with us having to hurry back here?"
Ross sighed, "okay, I haven't really told anyone this yet, but I was thinking… maybe we should tell everyone we're dating?" He said as though it was a question, "I mean, we don't have to, it was just a thought to think about."
Riker, Ryland and Ellington all nodded, already knowing where he was going with his what he was saying.
"Um, why?" Laura asked, "we'll just get hate, mostly me and mobbed every time we go out and so many questions and… honestly, I don't know if I'm ready for the world to know yet."
"I know, but I think it won't be as bad as we think it will be." Ross sighed. "I just don't want more rumours to start and then us having to deny them constantly. It's been almost a year, I think it's time to say something."
"What about my pregnancy?" She asked, "should we tell them about that too?"
"We don't have to… yet." Ross answered, "I don't know, okay? It was just a thought, we don't have to decide anything right away."
Laura nodded, "yeah okay." She agreed, "fine."
"Why are you pissed off about it?" Ross asked her.
"Because I just told you, I'm not ready." She said, "why didn't you come to talk to me first instead of talking about it with everyone else?"
"Whoa, Laura." Vanessa stepped in, "there's no reason to jump on him, just relax okay? He just had an idea, that's it."
"Okay, so then you tell the world about you and Rocky, or you, Ellington, tell everyone about you and Rydel, why don't we all just say something?" She asked and then Ross realized what her problem was. He grabbed her hand and pulled her with him into the other room, ignoring her protests. He closed the door, muttering an excuse me and with that, looked at her.
"I know you don't want anyone to know about Riley," He began, "and they don't have to, but you're going to show pretty soon and it's going to get harder and harder to hide it."
"I know, but-" Her tone was a lot less hostile and he breathed out a sigh of relief. "I just don't want to get hate sent to me."
"Dude, that's going to happen either way and yes, I called you, Laura, my girlfriend, dude." She laughed, not able to help it. "Just so you know, I get sent hate all the time, I could sneeze and I would get messages about how I shouldn't have sneezed a certain way or some shit."
Laura sighed, "I know, I'm just, I'm scared."
"Don't be." He said, "you've got everyone you need to support you and back you up, who cares about the shit people we don't know have to say?"
He had a point, that she had to agree with.
"Don't make a decision right away, take a moment to think about it." Laura nodded.
"Okay, deal, but right now, I have to go out there and apologize to Vanessa and Ellington." She smiled sweetly at him and then he softly kissed her.
"Don't worry, I'll be there with you when you do," He winked at her and she giggled.
"Wow, look who's here," Mark commented, he sat down across from both Rocky and Rydel. He looked at Rydel, "surprisingly you're not kicking my ass just yet."
"Don't give me a reason to and I won't." She answered back, her tone cold and unfriendly.
"It's been a while, you look different," He told her, "your bangs are gone."
"Yeah, I decided a change was necessary." She answered back. "Bangs bring back bad memories."
"Why are you here? If you ask me, you're just asking for it at this point."
"Asking for what? You know what you did," Rydel snapped.
"Okay, enough." Rocky finally spoke up. "We're here because I wanted to come, it's my turn to talk to you, face to face, man to man." He looked around the room they were in, "wow, this place is claustrophobic and shitty."
"Try living in it for as long as I have." Mark answered.
"You deserve it." Rydel said back.
To Mark's surprise, Rocky didn't say anything about her outburst.
He shrugged, "she's right, you do deserve to be in here." He then straightened himself up and looked at his father, "you know, I really looked up to you and I'm sure you were aware of that by the fact that Riker, Ross and Ryland did as well. I really respected you as a kid, thought you were the hero, but it turns out, I was wrong. Ross is ten times more of a hero than you'll ever be."
"Ross isn't anything, he won't ever amount to anything. He just got lucky." Mark responded back.
"Here's the funny thing dad, you think saying those things is going to turn us against him or whatever, but you're wrong. So, so sadly wrong."
"And very mistaken," Rydel added. Rocky nodded, pausing to look at his father.
"I don't feel sorry for you, not at all. You deserve this, all of this." His tone was cold, as he just stared his father down. "If you think you're going to get bailed out, I really hope you think again, because none of us are willing to do it. We've got the money and you're our father, but you're a disappointment. A total and complete disappointment." He paused to let his words sink in and Rydel watched him carefully. "I just want you to know, I hate you. And knowing that you don't give a shit means that I no longer have to feel guilty for it."
With that, he stood up, Rydel doing the same. Mark watched them leave, his jaw set, his eyes darkening and quickly Rydel got out of the room as fast as she could.
As soon as they were outside and walking to Ellington's car, Rydel decided she had enough of the silence.
"I'm proud of you," She said and Rocky turned around to face her.
"It wasn't easy, but I feel like it was right."
Rydel stepped closer to him, "I couldn't agree with you more." She then hugged him and he hugged her back.
After Laura had apologized to Vanessa and Ellington (both of whom told her it was totally no big deal at all, Ellington even joking that it was probably her hormones and then Laura playfully smacking him), they decided to watch a movie.
Soon after it started, Rocky and Rydel entered the apartment, Rocky going to sit by Vanessa and Rydel going to sit by Ellington.
"Hey how did the song go?" Riker asked them.
"There was never a song," Rocky answered.
"What?" Ross asked. "Then where have you been all day?"
"I went to see dad… with Rydel," Rocky eyes were downcast.
"Why would you do that?" Riker asked him.
"I had things I need to say to him too," He answered, looking up at his older brother. "You guys all had the chance, I wanted just one time to say something to him and Rydel offered to go with me."
"Rydel, you know that you shouldn't be around-" Riker began.
"Yeah, I know. But here's the thing. He's in jail, he doesn't have the power anymore, I do. And if I show him I'm afraid, he'll sense it and try to scare me. I don't want to be scared of him anymore, so if facing him means that's the way to do it, then fine." Rydel shrugged, "whatever it takes."
"How was it?" Ryland asked. "Seeing him."
"It was how you expect it to be, horrible, sad and kind of satisfying in the sense that he can't hurt us anymore from where he is." Rocky answered.
"You're okay?" Ross asked Rocky, tilting his head so he could see him better and Rocky looked at him. He nodded.
"I'm better than ever." He smiled at him and then Ross smiled back.
After an eventful day the day before and dinner with his mother (where they mostly talked about the show the following week), Ross decided that the next morning he was going to go back to his mom's house and talk to his siblings. Walking up the stone pathway, he thought about everything for a moment, just taking a minute to himself, and then he unlocked the front door and opened it.
He found Rocky, Vanessa and Riker were sitting on the living room couch watching tv. He threw his keys on the table in front of them and they looked up.
"Sup?" Rocky asked.
"Where's Laura?"
"Sleeping," He answered. Vanessa gave him a look, "what? I left her a note." She narrowed her eyes, "relax, I'm joking, she was awake when I left and I told her where I was going, she'll probably come by later." Vanessa nodded and then Ross sat down beside them. "So, I've been thinking."
"That's never a good sign." Rocky joked, as Rydel and Ellington joined them, Rydel sleepily rubbing her eyes as Ellington yawned.
"Sup?" He asked Ross.
"Not much." He answered.
"Hey Sleepy Bear," Rocky said to Rydel, a nickname he used as a child and throughout her whole life, "how's it going?"
"I will hurt you." She muttered back to him, he just smiled. Rydel smiled back, happy to see the meeting with their father hadn't changed his spirit one bit. Though, she was still sleepy and when she was sleepy, it was best not to piss her off. She was a girl, after all.
"So, Ross, what's up? Why you here so early? Not that I'm complaining." Riker asked.
"I got an idea," Ross paused, "why don't I propose at that concert?"
Ellington's eyes lit up, "dude that's awesome! Great idea!"
"And I thought of it first," Rocky added, so technically, it was my idea."
Ross nodded, "technically, he's right, we talked about it privately last night."
"That will be special and totally cool," Rydel said, smiling.
Ross looked at Vanessa, "you're her sister, what do you think of it?"
"I think it's great." Vanessa smiled, "very romantic of you, Ross."
"Thanks." He smiled at her. "So everyone's cool with that?" He asked, since every single person in the band was there.
"We are totally fine with it." Rydel answered, speaking for everyone. "Now, let's call Maia and get Ryland and mom's asses down here so we can talk about what to do."
Ross grinned, "always with the great ideas, Rydel."
"Hey! That proposal at the concert thing was my idea!" Rocky pouted.
"Right and you too." Ross added and Rocky smiled.
"Now I feel special."
"And you are, okay, let's start planning this epic proposal," Rydel said and everyone agreed.
Laura pulled up in front of the Lynch house, checking to make sure she looked okay before getting out of the car. She got out and walked up the pathway and put the key in that Ross gave her, opening the front door.
She walked into the living room, where she found a million things were going on at once.
The boys were playing video games (shocker) and Rydel, Maia and Vanessa were giggling in the corner.
Rydel was the first to look up and notice her presence, "hey Laura! Come here!"
She nodded and started talking over to her, but on the way, stopped to see Ross was on the ground, playing the Rock Band guitar. "what's Ross doing?" She asked nobody in particular.
"Well, obviously, he's up to no good," Rocky answered with a sly smile.
"Okay…" She blinked and then walked away.
"Winner!" Ross shouted and pumped his fists in the air, getting up. He turned and saw Laura was there, "hey babe." He walked over to her and kissed her. "How are you doing?"
"Fine." She smiled, "Riley and I are doing just perfect."
He grinned and then walked back to join the game again. He picked up the microphone and then started to rap.
"No, no." Ellington put his hand on his shoulder, "Ross, your rapping skills need some work."
Rocky nodded, "uh yeah, I agree."
Ross narrowed his eyes, "you always agree with him."
"That's because he's always right, duh." Rocky responded and Riker laughed.
"You think you can rap better than me?" Ross asked.
"Dude, I know I can." He got up and pushed him to the side, "watch a master do it."
"Okay, oh great one." Ross said, bowing, "show us what you got."
Rocky did so and blew everyone away. Ellington jumped in towards the middle and then when they were finished and were met with a round of applause, they high fived. Ross laughed.
"Yeah okay, you won that one." He said and then high fived Rocky and Ellington.
"Ballin!" Rocky said and everyone laughed again.
"Alright, come on guys, let's go rehearse," Riker said, getting up from the couch. He walked two feet. "Alright ready?" He joked and then shook his head, "nah, let's go to the rehearsal room, upstairs." Everyone agreed and with that the band disappeared, Laura getting up to join them. Though Rocky and Rydel stayed behind for a moment.
"Hey, come here," Vanessa said to him and they nodded, going over to her.
"Hold on, I just need a glass of water, do you guys need anything?" Rydel asked and they all shook their heads. She came back a moment later. "Ready, what's up?"
"I think we should throw Laura a party, after the proposal and everything." Vanessa said.
"I agree." Rydel nodded, "that'd be awesome."
Rocky, however, looked confused, "for what? It's not her birthday… oh yeah, wait. Yeah, good idea." He nodded, "we should definitely do that."
"Keep up Johnny Bravo," Rydel snapped her fingers in his face.
Vanessa laughed, "why do you call him that?"
Rocky grinned, "it's the hair."
"I've never heard it before now."
"Oh trust me, it's been an on going thing for years." Rocky assured her. "Anyway, you two gonna join us?" He asked.
Maia nodded, "yeah sure, we're going to stay down here for a bit and going over plans and ideas for the party, we'll catch you up once you have a minute."
"Sounds good to me." Rydel smiled at them and after Rocky kissed Vanessa, they walked up the stairs together to rehearsal.
"So…" Laura said, her hand trailing over the bed sheet as Ross got ready. "I've been thinking."
"Yeah?" Ross asked, messing his hair up a bit in the mirror, he turned to look at her, "what's that?"
"I'm ready to tell the world we're together."
He raised an eyebrow, "just yesterday you didn't like the idea at all."
"Well, I had time to sleep on it, think about it and process it." Laura told him. "I don't want to hide my relationship with you from the world anymore. Fuck the haters, I don't care. There will always be rumours that will come out. I have you and that's what's important to me."
He grinned, "well, I'm glad you decided that." He sat down beside her and kissed her.
"I'm excited for your show next week," Laura told him as they laid down together. "Maybe we should announce it then?"
He grinned, an idea forming in his mind, "yeah, we definitely should."
Laura yawned, cuddling closer to him. "I love you, Rozy."
"I love you too, Lorax."
And with that they both fell into a peaceful sleep.
"I am so nervous," Ross bit and chewed on his bottom lip as he played with the ring in front of him.
"Dude, relax, okay? And my suggestion, put that away before Laura comes in, sees it and thinks you're going to propose to Maia or some crazy shit like that." Rocky said.
Ross rolled his eyes, "yes sir."
The dressing door opened and Ross quickly hid the ring, only to find out it was just Rydel and Ellington that had walked in.
"Okay, mom says everyone's there, in the front row." Rydel said, "Maia and Vanessa have got Laura covered, Grace, Garrett, Mollee, Debby, Raini, Calum and everyone else are there as well. You ready to do this?" She asked him and he nodded.
"Very ready, though a little anxious and the feeling of having to pee has come back."
Rydel wrinkled her nose, "a bit of an overshare, but at least it's something." She sighed, "this has been one crazy week," She said to Ellington and he agreed.
"But we'll have the happiest moment in the world to look forward to, so come on guys, ready?" He asked as Ryland opened the door.
"Yo, you guys are on in two minutes, literally."
Everyone nodded and with that, Riker put his hand in the middle of the huddle. Rocky did so next, then Ross, then Ellington, then Rydel and then Ross motioned for Ryland to join them.
"Let's kick ass out there," Riker said and then counted down, "three, two, one…"
"READY SET ROCK!" They all yelled out and with that went onto the stage.
The first few songs were easy. They had no problems whatsoever with them. Though, Ross was a bit nervous and he was hoping it didn't show.
"Does Ross look like he's going to pee his pants to you?" Laura yelled over the music to Vanessa and Maia.
"Kinda." Calum agreed. "But he's Ross, when does he ever not feel like he's going to pee his pants?"
"He's got a point." Raini agreed.
"But like, he's performed a billion times in front of huge crowds like this, I wonder what's going on." Laura wondered.
Maia and Vanessa exchanged a look, "how about we just enjoy the show?" Vanessa suggested. "Sing along!"
Laura gave her a look, "you sing a long," she stuck her tongue out at her. Then she turned around and started to sing along with the many songs by R5 that she knew by heart.
"Wow, you guys have such a great energy!" Rocky commented as he looked out at the audience. "Especially for a last minute show, thanks for coming out!"
"Yeah, we really appreciate it." Riker added.
"So, totally appreciate it." Ross agreed, his voice shaking a bit. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Opening his eyes, he saw Maia whisper something in Laura's ear. She looked at her strangely but then nodded and followed her and Vanessa to the side of the stage. "So um, we're going to call out a very special friend."
"Like super, duper special," Rocky added.
"So special that it makes whomever you guys think is special, unspecial." Ellington jokingly added.
"Yeah this person is that special," Rydel agreed.
"Who is this special person you ask?" Riker added.
"Okay, so, you guys are aware of a show called Austin & Ally right? You know a blonde dude who can play guitar and brunette chick who can sing and play the piano." Rocky asked and the crowd went crazy.
"So put your hands together because we've got Trish, Dez, Austin and Ally all here with us tonight!" Riker shouted and everyone cheered.
"Whoo!" Rydel added her voice in it, clapping her hands as well.
"We've also got Mack here," Ellington added, "no? Mack, Brady, okay." He waved his hand in the air and Rydel giggled.
"So, right now…" Rocky trailed off, he held his hand out towards Ross.
"We'd like to invite, Laura Marano onto the stage!" Riker announced, letting out a 'whoop!' as he noticed Ross was too nervous. Laura soon came on the stage and looked around confused. Ross saw her and suddenly all his nerves went away. He smiled and put his arm around her, the crowd cheering like crazy. He took a deep breath, it was no or never.
He put his arm around her and the crowd went wild again.
"So, Laura, I've got a question for you, will you come here?" He asked and she nodded following him closer to where Rydel and Ellington were. Rocky handed him a mic and he took it, holding it in his hand, he dropped to the ground, Laura's hands going over her face as she realized what was going on. "So, as you know, we've been friends for a while and just recently became more than that." He was obviously omitting the truth for all the fans. "I know that when we first met, you thought I was an awkward fifteen year old with bad hair and too many plaid shirts and converses." Everyone laughed at that, as she had told him that around when they filmed episode three. "I knew you were it when we met then and I'm pretty sure I want to be with you forever and I love you more than anything in this world, so will you, Laura Marie Marano, be my girlfriend?" He asked her and she nodded. The crowd went crazy and he got up, kissing her in front of everyone. After it had calmed down, he whispered two words in her ear, the mic far away from him as Rydel had reached out to grab it. "Marry me," He whispered and her eyes went wide with shock. Her hands covered her mouth again and she wordlessly and tearfully nodded.
"Yes." She said and then Ross kissed her again, passionately.
After the cheers died down from everyone, he walked with her backstage. The stage went dark at that moment, so everyone followed them.
"Ahh! We're going to be sisters!" Rydel squealed as soon as she saw Vanessa and Laura. She hugged them both tightly.
"Hey!" Ross complained, "I still have to make it even more official, calm down you," He jokingly said to his sister. He pulled the ring out of his pocket and then took her hand. He slipped it on her finger and tears in her eyes, she looked up at him. She kissed him again, repeatedly, in front of everyone.
"I love you, I love you, I love you." She whispered and then kissed him again. "Best surprise ever."
"She was so confused when we brought her back here." Vanessa laughed.
"Good things it's all cleared up now," Maia added and everyone laughed.
"Look, I'm engaged!" Laura squealed to her mother, who was standing with Ellington's mother and Stormie and hugged her tight. She then hugged Stormie and Cheryl and then squealed again, hugging her sister tight.
"You did good, brother." Rocky said.
Ross smiled and then hugged him. "I couldn't have done it without you guys though."
Rocky shrugged, though he was still smiling.
"I'm proud of you, you're pretty awesome." Riker said and then Ross smiled.
"Means a lot to here you say that." Ross smiled at him and then they shared a hug, Ellington smiling beside them.
Rydel, who hadn't been paying attention, turned at that moment, she saw Ellington smile and then looked at Rocky, "what did you do to Ellington? He looks like he just saw the most amazing thing ever."
"That's because he did," Rocky answered, "he witnessed a proposal and a Riker and Ross brotherly moment."
"Thank you Captain Obvious," Rydel answered.
He grinned, "have you not been paying attention missy?" He booped her nose and she swatted it away, giggling.
"I was fingerling over Laura's ring with the girls," She responded, sticking her tongue out at her younger brother.
"Yeah? I wonder who's getting engaged next." Rocky winked at her and she shook her head.
"Not for a while." She answered back, "but you never know, I'm not the only one in a relationship right now…" She trailed off and Rocky groaned.
"Fuck you won."
She laughed.
"Hey guys, not to ruin an amazing moment," Ryland waved his hands in the air, "but you guys kind of have a show to finish."
"Oh shit, right." Ross nodded and was about to follow everyone to the stage when he turned around and ran to Laura. He picked her up and spun her around, kissing her again. "See you after the show."
"I'll be here." She smiled up at him. "I love you, go kill it out there."
"I love you too, fiancé…" He grinned, "that feels awesome to say."
She giggled, "it does. I loved the way you did it, by having everyone think you were asking me to become official with you and then whispering the real thing in my ear."
"All part of the plan." He grinned.
"And so romantic." She kissed him and he kissed her back.
"Yo!" Rocky yelled out, "love that you two lovebirds are in love and shit, but we kinda need our lead singer."
Laura laughed, "go." She murmured against his lips.
"I don't want to." He pouted.
"I'll still be here," She assured him and then kissed him again.
He released her, reluctantly and with that, ran back on stage, turning to smile at her. She smiled back.
Ross was truly something special.
"What a night," Vanessa stretched her arms out. "I'm so happy for Ross and Laura."
"I know, me too." Rocky agreed, the door shutting behind them. He threw his jacket on her bed. "Tired?"
She shook her head, "not at all. Oh, bonus, mom's out for the night, with your mom." She grinned.
"So, we have the house to ourselves?" He asked her.
She nodded, wrapping her arms around his neck, "anything you have in mind that you want to do?"
"Wondering why our moms are out together would be a good start," He said, moving away from her and she sighed.
"Really? That's what you want to do?"
He nodded, "it's random."
"Your brother and my sister just got engaged, I'm pretty sure that's the reason they're out together, to talk and go over wedding details."
Rocky sighed, knowing she had a point.
"What's wrong?" She asked him.
"Nothing, I just….I've never felt this way about anyone before." He admitted. "You know I love you right?" He looked up at her, "we haven't been dating that long, but-"
"I love you too." She said and he smiled.
"You do?"
She nodded, "yeah and I've been um, thinking about… you know, sex a lot." She mumbled the last part.
"Sorry what?"
She blushed, pushing him away, "you heard me."
"So, if you love me and you've been thinking about sex with me and I love you and have been thinking the same, then what the hell are we waiting for?" Rocky asked, his tone quiet as he looked seriously at her.
"You tell me," She answered back, her eyes searching his.
Then, his mouth was on hers and her arms were around his neck. They soon fell back on the bed and with that, spent one of the most amazing nights of their lives together.
So much happened in this chapter, I know, but yay! Ross and Laura are engaged! Finally! Go Ross and Laura! Woot woot! (in Rocky's voice, haha).
Alright, I can't promise the next update will be soon, as I'm trying to write the chapters for Timeless, Fight This Feeling and Hurricane. I started university and a new job choreographing and teaching dance to kids so I'm quite busy. I'll do my best!
Also, does anyone want to catch me up on Austin&Ally? I'm so behind and I heard they're back together and there was a prom and fun stuff like that. The last episode I watched and I'm not joking is when Austin wore the sparkling shoes and they met the president. Haha, that's how far behind I am. So, tell me what happened! I don't know if I'll ever have time to watch the episodes, truthfully.
Alright, hope you enjoyed this! If you've gotten this far, say bubbles. Oh and did you like the proposal? I told Austin (my boyfriend) that that's what he has to do for me... haha, just kidding. I'm only seventeen ;)
Alright, talk soon. Much love xx
