Chapter 21
"Welcome to the deepest pits of hell, I hope you enjoy your stay," An amused voiced sounded from the speakers.
"God, could that be anymore cliché?" Shego commented, handing Ron the hip-flask with clean water so he could wash away the after taste.
"Thanks," he mumbled, trying not to look at the pile of corpses.
"We're moving out, everyone stay on high alert." Du said. "The access to the higher level is right… across that pile…" he finished flatly. Sadly the whole floor was covered with corpses, so to get to the access point…
"You've got to be kidding me…" Kim mumbled, feeling as sick as Ron.
"Move out," Du said grimly. He took the initiative and stepped on the corpses, trying not to think about it. "It's rather stable, they've been lying here for a while…"
"You're not helping, dude." Ron choked, really trying to think about the surface he was walking on. 'Note to self: Take the helmet off every time…'
The squad moved over the pile and almost crossed it, but then of the soldiers gave the startled cry when suddenly one of the corpses grabbed his ankle. Before he managed to react, the prisoner that pretended to be the corpse stabbed him with makeshift knife… that did absolutely nothing to the high tech armor.
But that didn't deter the man from furiously stabbing the agent. Before anyone managed to react, similar occurrences happened throughout the pile. Dirty and smelly prisoners rose from the floor, attacking the agents, and shouting incoherent gibberish. It was clear as day that their sanity had left their minds long ago.
Kim hooked the nearest man that carried a metal pipe, sending him flying right into other that was approaching her, knocking them both out. Shego blasted them with her plasma while Ron showed his mastery over the staff.
"Open fire!" came the order through their comm-links. The room was filled with the crackling sounds of the rifles. Steadily the mad cries of the prisoners turned into groans of pain, and then into silence as the agents finished off the attackers.
Two minutes after the order, the prisoners became corpses for real.
"Hold your fire," Du ordered. "Damage report."
"We lost two synthodrones, sir, no one else was wounded," a random agent reported.
"Good, let's proceed." Du said.
"What? Just like that?" Kim yelled, drawing their attention. "You just ordered a massacre!"
"They were attacking us," he replied flatly.
"We could knock them out!" she shot back.
"I'm with Kim on that, there was no reason to kill them," Ron supported.
"Our mission is to re-rake this facility at all costs, as quickly as possible. My role is to ensure that the mission is a success and that my squad comes back home with all personnel, so pardon me for not giving a damn about some scumbag's life." Du snapped. "If you're not up to the mission you can turn back right now."
Before anyone spoke otherwise, the speakers cracked to life again.
"And here I thought that the Geneva convenes was still a thing… what happened to our world…" the voice actually sounded genuinely remorseful. "I'm telling Uncle Sam what you did! "
The silence fell on the gathered again.
"Let's move out," he stated curtly, moving to the panel and entered the code. The door hissed opened, revealing the dark corridor with only a dim, red emergency light illuminating the hall. On the inner side of the corridor was the long broken wall of glass that led to the individual cells. But now the shattered glass covered the floor.
"We're splitting up into two groups, code name Alpha and Beta. One takes the left side while the other takes the right. We'll meet at the other side. Every floor is designed like that," he told them. "Stoppable, you're with me; we're making team Alpha while Shego and Possible make team Beta. Possible, you take the lead."
The group split equally and then they parted ways, carefully moving forward with the drones taking the front and back. With every step the glass crunched under their feet, filling the silent corridor with sounds that irked everyone.
After the tense five minutes of the extremely slow and nerve wrecking march, the teams met on the other side of the prison.
"Not a living soul…" Kim commented. This floor was empty.
"Indeed, do not lose your focus…" he opened another door, only to reveal another prisoner with a crazed look in her eyes, holding two Molotov's cocktails.
"Die!" she screeched, throwing bottle at them, not caring in the slightest that she would be caught in the fire. The flames erupted, catching her and agent Du on fire. With horrible screech, the woman lunged forward, dashing into the crowd, trying to cling to the closest agent, but one well-placed shot ended that action.
Du on the other hand just stood motionless, waiting for fire to die out. He looked at Ron, causing a shiver to go down boy's spine. The figure in flames with those emotionless blue eyes was a sight to behold.
"Agent Stoppable, I advise you to take your helmet off next time," he said flatly.
As soon as the flames died, the team moved forward, climbing up the stairs, and quickly reaching the next floor… only to find absolutely nothing this time. The whole second floor was empty. Not a single soul resided here. Not even a mouse. And all that was here was broken glass and blood on the walls and floor.
The tensions were high. Everyone's nerves were stretched to their very limits; some actually yearned for something to happen instead of this silence.
Aside from the sound of glass crunching beneath their feet, there was nothing else.
"I really don't like this," Kim whispered to Shego.
"No shit, heard that over two thousand people were cramped here…" she gazed into the dark corridor in front of her… After a minute or two, they reunited with the other part of the squad.
"Nothing?" Ron asked, getting head shakes. "What's going on here?"
"I don't know, Ronnie…" Shego shrugged.
"Get ready, I'm opening the doors." Du announced. He signaled a few agents to point their guns at them in case of another lunatic.
They entered the code… "OH MY GOD!" Kim screeched when she saw what was behind them. Bodies… a lot of bodies hung up from the ceiling.
This time it was her turn to hurl. Thanks to her inhuman reaction speed, she managed to take off her helmet before that.
"What the hell is wrong with this place?!" Ron exclaimed. "It's like one big horror factory! Dead people everywhere with stuff like from some horror game or bad fanfiction!"
"Horror… yes, the place out of the darkest nightmares…" The voice sounded yet again, "This is the true nature of this facility, pile of bodies everywhere… heh, funny how things work out."
"I'm really starting to hate this asshole," Shego said. "He gives me creeps."
"Drones, remove the corpses." Du ordered. The machines obliged, moving to the staircase and cutting the bodies down, throwing them to the side carelessly.
None of the agents said anything.
Suddenly there was a commotion upstairs.
"What is going–" Du couldn't finish, having to dodge a synthodrone violently thrown down. The moment it happened, the staircase exploded with a large lumbering man jumping out of it. He was similar to the one Ron, Shego, and Kim fought at UN building.
He let an inhuman roar, throwing everyone out of his path. Agents opened fire instantly trying to put him down as soon as possible, but it was not all. Right after his horrible howl a dozen more sounded from above with the sound of stomping and growls quickly approaching them.
"Team Beta, block the stair case! Let nothing pass!, Team Alpha, take that prisoner down!" Du braked.
The teams split up, dashing to their tasks.
"Finally! Some action!" Shego lit her fists, a grin hidden behind her helmet.
"I have to agree." Kim said as the first wave of creatures hit them. The creatures looked humanoid. They were covered by thick fur and had jaws full of sharp teeth. Their lines were equipped with set of long talons and with additions of red glowing eyes. It was a sight to behold.
Shego threw a few plasma balls, knocking a few monsters off while the agents opened fire, but the rest simply ran over them.
With a mad howl, they crashed against the line of agents and synthodrones, engaging in melee combat.
"What the hell are those things?" Kim yelled as she hooked the creature, instantly jumping back to avoid claw of another.
"No idea, princess!" Shego blasted another monster. "But they piss me off!" With a savage frontal kick, she kicked the attacking thing over the railing.
Kim ignored the insult, focusing on her opponents. They were fast and agile, but totally mindless at the same time. The creatures acted purely on instinct, trying to claw or bite her. Not that it worked, the battle suit protected her from that level of attack, but the things still tried anyways.
"Meh, too easy," Shego stated, throwing punches, kicks, and plasma. "Wonder how Ronnie's doing?"
Meanwhile on the other side of the corridor, "Goddamn it, Du! Why the hell did you decide that WE had to fight this guy!" Ron screamed as he rode on the large man's back.
"This is not the best time to argue, Agent Stoppable!" Du shouted, trying not to get stomped by the raging man.
The agents couldn't take a shot at the man without risking Ron's safety.
"Don't worry! I got this!" Ron shouted, jumping from the man's back. He did a gracious flip, landing on the ceiling and pushed himself into morphing the Lotus Blade into a hammer. Effective solutions are best solutions after all.
Yet due to the stroke of misfortune, the brute spun around and lifted his massive arms to protect his head.
The hammer slammed against his forearms with a mighty force, but the man kept his ground, growling as the pain shot out from his forearm. And with a grunt, he pushed forward, trying to overpower Ron. The young blonde had to use his MMP to even out the odds.
"Stoppable, dodge!" Ron heard someone's scream. Instantly he broke the standoff, jumping to the side letting the brute stumble forward right into volley of bullets.
This time the hardened skin didn't do much to protect him. Equipped with bullets that could pierce a tank, agents made short work out of the brute, and a minute later he collapsed on the ground, lifeless.
The level fell silent after that. The teams rendezvoused checking the damage that was done.
"We lost twenty synthodrones and two agents."
The corridor was filled with grim silence. They were just on third level and already lost two men.
"Stoppable, retrieve the helmet for yourself," Du ordered. "They can adjust to any battle suit." The sidekick's eyes widened, looking with horror at Du. "To get the helmet would mean to loot a corpse. "Agent Smith won't need it anymore and it might save your life."
Not being able to fault his logic, he marched to the corpse with a weirdly twisted head. He unclasped the helmet, but was unable to look at the face, so he looked back while removing it.
Luckily for him there was no blood or other stuff inside the helmet.
"I think we need a change of strategy." Kim suggested. "Each staircase can be turned into a trap, not only are we easy marks, but we move at a snail's pace."
"What do you propose Agent possible?" Du asked.
"A small task group can climb to the higher level and secure the entry for the bulk of the forces to come through it and clear the rest," she told him.
"Hmm, that strategy is sound but dangerous for the task group since they would have to hold off the enemies…"
"We can do it! No big," Ron said.
"Yeah, this whole cat and mouse game is getting real old, let's speed things up a bit. This place gives me the creeps," Shego said.
"Very well, you three will go over the railings and clear the entry for us."
"Badical!" Ron said, walking to the railing. "See you upstairs!" he shot the grappling hook, going up while being followed by Kim and Shego.
The trio swiftly reached the upper floor, but it seemed that the previous flood of opponents was all that this flood had to offer.
They informed the rest of the squad of the sitch and moved on to the next floor.
"Whoa!" Kim hissed as the makeshift knife grazed her helmet as soon as she peaked over the railing.
She readied herself and violently jumped into the corridor, knocking a few inmates off, and the trio quickly cut through the regular inmates, even without their battle suits they wouldn't pose a threat to them.
Floor after floor they cleared it out, busting any traps set for the squad. Each floor presented new horrors, new depths of human bestiality. Kim, Ron, and even Shego could barely stomach the mutilated corpses of prisoners and personnel alike.
They knew that the sights would haunt them for a really long time.
Finally Du gave the order to stop at tenth floor right before the lab level.
"Why are we stopping?" Shego asked impatiently.
"This floors layout is different, hence the tactic change." Du explained. "We will divide into three teams this time. One will clear the laboratories on the right, the other on the left, and third one will guard the floor so we won't get flooded and in case of trouble, we will be able to quickly aid them. Agent Stoppable, you will be on defense team, Agent Shego you will take the right side while Agent Possible and I will go left. Stoppable, you will be left with four agents and all synthodrones to block all the exits."
"Owww, come on! Why I am on guard duty?" Ron complained.
Before Shego or Kim managed to speak, Du beat them both.
"Because you're the strongest out of all of us," Du said flatly, his voice betraying no emotions. "I believe that nothing will get past you, and we'll have our backs secured."
"Oh… okay, I guess…" Ron rubbed his neck awkwardly. He rarely got so direct acknowledgment of his value.
"Now don't let it get to your head, Ron." Kim warned good-naturedly. "We all know how that ends."
"I will keep that in mind."
"Let's move out!" Du ordered.
The teams parted, unaware the raw glee their elusive host felt at the moment.
With Kim and Du
The team moved carefully through the corridors, reaching the labs without interruption. Du used the master codes and opened the door, leading to the right wing laboratories.
"What do we know about this wing?" Kim asked, carefully surveying surroundings.
"From the Intel, that part of the laboratory was responsible for creating super soldiers." Du replied.
"I see," Kim replied.
The team crossed the threshold, entering what seemed to be a room filled with lots of tubes filled with green goo. In between there were dozens of computers. Surprisingly nothing seemed to be broken or devastated. Above the room was a glassed platform with one large computer, possibly the main server.
The team spread through the quite spacious room, carefully advancing forward, ready for anything. And suddenly all the lights tuned on.
"Oh MY GOD!" Kim screamed as soon she saw what was inside the tubes.
A horribly deformed human being, to the point where she couldn't even recognize the gender of that person was inside. The creature was bald and had horribly pale skin. Its hands were abnormally long yet ended with small almost childlike hands. The torso was unnaturally bloated while the lower part was just one large mass of body, giving a slug like impression.
Looking around she saw all kind of deformation, but one sight drew her attention the most. The black furred fanged creatures that they fought down stairs. The creatures she killed… they used to be humans.
"No… no… that's impossible!" Kim uttered in clear denial.
"They wanted super-soldiers to fight their wars," the voice spoke yet again. "They mostly got failures. Mindless beast bent on destruction… yet even in that they saw potential… care to test it?"
The moment the words left his mouth, all controls turned red with the alarm going off. The tubes slid down into the floor, flooding the room with the liquid.
And the first of the furry creatures to rise, looked at the agents with hateful red eyes. It howled, unleashing pandemonium.
All the test subjects lunged at the agents, trying to kill them in their beastly rage. Besides the werewolf like creatures, there was a whole myriad of beings. Such as the ones that puke acid.
"GYAAHHH!" One of the agents screamed as the vile liquid actually managed to burn through his armor, despite the fact that it should've protected him from that. One of the creatures used his distraction and tackled the agent, ripping his throat.
"Look out for the ones with acid! They can melt through the armor!" Kim shouted, punching the creature with enough force to kick it out of the fight.
Not wasting any more time, she lunged forward, elbowing the nearest opponent with two pairs of arms, at the same time using him as a step to jump high in the air with intent to deliver a devastating knee to the opponent behind, but it was not to be.
Kim felt something wrap around her waist and starting to drag her up. With horror she realized that it was an arm, but stretched beyond belief.
She looked up and saw it stretched all the way towards the ventilation shaft. She grabbed the arm and using one of new gadgets Wade installed, she electrocuted the assailant. She started to descend down seeing the body fall out of the ventilation shaft due to her weight.
While still being up, she could assess the situation. The agents were winning, but Kim had a horrible feeling that she was seeing less agents standing than she should, and the moment she reached the ground, she untangled herself from the arm and ran to aid her fighting comrades.
Gun shots were echoing through the room as the GJ agents fought bravely against more numerous opponents. Thanks to their advanced tech, their numbers weren't cut in half, but even then the mutated prisoners were able to get through their defenses. While not lethal as the acid spitting one, Kim silently thanked God that there was only a handful of them.
Finally the fights started to die out along with prisoners. When the team secured the area, Du demanded the damage report. The helmet hid his frown when he learned that six agents were down, two wounded, but still able to move and fight.
Du gritted his teeth, they were just halfway through and the losses were already that severe. He silently hoped that the other teams fared better… Kim on the other hand looked around the carnage, feeling sick to her very core. She's never seen so many dead people.
'This is so horrible…' she thought when suddenly something grabbed her ankle. She let out a startle cry when she saw the slug like creature from the tube holding her ankle with surprising strength.
She was about to hit the thing when it spoke in a surprisingly soft voice.
"P-Pleaseeee… kill me," it begged pathetically. "Pleeeseee!" The creature let Kim's ankle go, sobbing.
No one spoke, filling the room with silence broken by the miserable cries of the mutated human.
"Kill m–!"
BANG!
"Check the platform above," Du said through gritted teeth. He could somehow even through the expressionless helmet still see the shock on the young teen's face.
The redheaded girl was too shocked to even think about disobeying his order.
Kim with two other agents moved up, stepping on the painfully cliché main computer room with one large screen. Like everything else, the computer seemed to be in pristine condition.
Kim moved closer when the computer screen came to life.
"Subject number 685 is ready to take the injection," she witnessed a man strapped to the table surrounded by seven men in white lab coats.
The man on the table had a gag in his mouth but it was obvious that he was afraid.
"Begin the procedure."
Kim observed as the greenish substance went from IV to the main vein, causing him to give a muffled cry. He started convulsing then changing.
His face started to lose any traits of humanity, turning into a face of a beast with a long snout and sharp fangs. His hands and feet grew in size, spouting long talons. But the worse was his skin. Kim could witness how the transformations broke it with snap, spilling blood all over the doctors, but they hadn't seemed fazed by it.
She was almost happy that she emptied her stomach before… then the prisoner stopped moving.
"Subject 685's heart stopped moving sir, most likely it collapsed."
"Bring in subject 686; we almost got it this time."
The video ended. But a second later it started again with a scene identical to the previous one, but this time with a woman.
"Subject number 686 is ready to take the injection, sir."
Kim turned her eyes away, not able to see the horror show again, and just in time to see the doors leading to the lab exploding into bits, sending the agents that stood near it flying through the air.
A few moments later the enemies flooded the area.
Kim gasped.
If they were attacked from behind, it meant one thing.
"Ron…" she whispered, jumping into the heat of battle.
With Shego
"Agent Shego… was it wise to melt the doors?" One of the agents asked meekly. The walls were supposed to withstand the explosion of a nuclear blast, but the green skilled villainess melted it in under a minute.
"The hacking was taking too long," she shrugged.
"I didn't even start!" the agent protested.
"Not exactly my fault that GJ standards have really dropped nowadays," Shego replied with a shrug, not caring that she seriously hurt the other agent's feelings.
What? She was Shego after all. Only a very limited group of people had a protection from her fiery personality… most of the time.
She entered the room with confidence. If a few super powered creeps was all this place had to offer, then she worried for nothing.
'Bet I could bail out from here in under a week,' she thought with a smirk. 'Totally overrated!'
She looked around the spacious room filled with desks and numerous lab equipment and the agents wordlessly spread through the room, looking for any signs of activity but found none.
"Surrrreeee," she droned with a deadpanned voice. "Surely there's no trap here or other shit, just an empty room with, oh look, doors! On the other side of the room! Whoa, I wonder what's in there."
"Hmmm, you really take all fun from things, you know?" the host said with a slightly pouty tone. "But rest assured, there's no trap here… just things that might interest you, my dear," he said with a sickly sweet tone.
Shego rolled her eyes. She marched forward in seemingly uncaring manner. Like preciously she melted the doors and walked to the next room through the hole.
"Told you!" The host said in a sing song voice. "No trap, just a surprise…"
Shego frowned; she faced a long corridor with a cell similar to those in the main structure. But unlike them, they weren't empty… "You got to be fucking kidding me…" Shego uttered as she witnessed the inside of the cells.
Shego saw a table surrounded by various medical equipment and the table was at an oblique angle with the front facing the glass wall. Sadly the bed wasn't empty.
A nude young woman in her early twenties at most was strapped to the table. The woman was bald and if Shego had to guess it would be due to the multiple large needless that was sticking out of her head. Not to mention numerous tubes throughout her entire body pumping some suspicious liquids inside her bloodstream.
"Beautiful isn't it?" the host spoke again. "Deprived of any shred of humanity, turned into a lab rat, even her own name was taken from her."
"Ms. Fantastic…" Shego uttered. "B-class villainess…. no one was able to contact her for over a year."
"Oh? You know each other! How sweet, you see the staff here took a deep interest into her. The ability to stretch her body and bend like gum is very interesting indeed… almost as interesting as throwing plasma…"
That comment caused Shego to blast the speaker.
"Ohh? Hit a nerve?" Another speaker activated, "You see if it wasn't for your friends in high places you might be in the very same position as Ms. Fantastic… that would've been a pity, don't you think? To shave that beautiful raven hair of yours, hehehe," his tone turned leery. "But that wasn't the surprise I wanted to show you… go to the last door at the very end of the corridor."
Shego glared at the speaker but followed his instructions. She had to check the place anyways.
Cell-by-cell she had seen the same sight. A person strapped to the metal bed. Much to her horror she personally knew some of them. Shego was sure that they simply got killed or retired, not turned into an experiment.
She couldn't suppress a shiver thinking about it, about her meeting the same fate, strapped to a table and violated by dozens of tubes. And suddenly she felt an urge to have Ron at her side and she shook her head, chasing those thoughts away. She didn't need anyone to feel safe. She was capable of defending herself from almost everything.
That is why her need for her boyfriend to be here and support her with just his presence wasn't required at all… 'At the least he would say something lamely funny.' she mussed, reaching the doors.
Taking a deep breath she opened the last doors. She was prepared for almost everything. Another horrid experiment, doomsday weapon, or even the annoying host but not what just saw.
Her brother… Hector Go was standing before her dressed in the prisoner attire. Like previous prisoners he was strapped to the bed but this time nothing was injected into his body.
"Impossible…" Shego uttered. She took a second to look at him and only then she noticed that something was wrong with him. He had Hector's face yet that was all. His figure was way thinner than normal, not to mention his hair were red as if, "It's a clone?"
"Indeed, a clone with the DNA of all your brothers mixed together…" Shego felt a cold sweat ran down her back. "Now let's see how capable you truly are." As if on a silent order, the clone woke up and ripped the straps as if they were made of paper.
"Hey! You said it wasn't a trap!" Shego yelled, flaring her hands.
"It's a surprise not-trap!" he giggled.
The moment those words left his mouth, the clone lunged forward, throwing a straight cosmic powered punch. Shego sidestepped and kneed him in the gut, but he didn't seem fazed by it as he quickly returned the favor by elbowing her in her chin. Adding Hego's super strength, she was sent flying, and Shego hit the wall, grunting in pain.
"Okay, you seem like the real deal," she mussed, glad that she had the battle suit that absorbed most of the hits.
The clone wordlessly continued its assault, forcing Shego on defensive. Thanks to its less bulky form, he was much faster than original Hego, yet retained almost the same super strength… almost.
Shego started throwing plasma balls at him, and seeing that he was fast enough to dodge them, she decided to change the strategy.
Gathering her power she unleashed one devastating wave of plasma. The clone used Mego's powers to shrink, but again Shego noticed that the process was much slower. Her brother could do that normally in the blink of an eye while the clone took a few seconds. Hence she managed to burn his hair.
She smirked dashing at the tiny clone. He tried to return to his normal size but Shego caught him halfway through the act burying him under a storm of kicks and punches. This time it was her turn to send the opponent flying.
The clone hit the metal wall, creating a small dent in it. His cheek was burned from the plasma powered punch but the man jumped on his legs almost instantly as if he hadn't felt any of it. Glowing red he created a copy of himself, but just one.
"So all this guy is a watered down version of my brothers… shouldn't be that much of a problem," Shego boasted.
The clones attacked with growls, seemingly not too happy about the insults. Shego responded with an attack of her own. She kicked the closer one in the jaw, making his head turn to the left with a snap.
Seeing that the other one was about to attack, she grabbed the dazed clone and used him as a shield. The attacker hit his copy in the back, sending him flying. Seeing his momentarily confusion, she delivered a savage kick to a knee. With the suit that enchanted her already inhuman strength the bone broke with a snap.
If it was Hego he would've shaken it off like nothing, but the clone was obviously weaker. One more powerful swipe to the temple and the clone was knocked out cold.
She turned to the second clone that was standing up. Not giving him a chance, she fired quick plasma shots to the back of his head, knocking him out. After he fell, both bodies merged indicating that the fight was truly over.
"You really thought that this Frankenstein of my brothers would throw me off?" Shego asked knowing that the host was listening.
"Maybe a bit... that was cold of you to beat him so savagely… wonder what your dear Ron would say about it."
"He'd probably congratulate me for being so awesome," she shot back.
"Maybe, but I guess we'll never know…" his voice gained a sinister edge.
"What did you say?" Shego growled.
"You weren't curious why your comm-link was so silent all this time? Here, let me help you…"
"Need back up! Need back–argh!"
"Agent Shego, respond!"
"Hostiles in the vents! I repeat! Hostiles in the vents!"
Shego ran out of the room as fast as she could. The fanatical shots were filling the whole channel. She reached the main room walking straight into a battlefield. The tables were overthrown, turned into a make shift cover for the enemies flooding through the main doors. They were also crawling out of the vents and dropping onto the agents.
'Ron,' Shego felt her stomach twist in anxiousness. Yet she steeled herself and lifted her hands, jumping right into the middle of the cluster and tearing apart everything and everyone who stood in her way.
Shego would get to Ron even if she had to melt the whole place to a slob of metal.
"Just saty alive you idiot…" She growled furiously!
With Ron
The young blond decided to place the drones at the entry of the exit to prevent any surprises while he and the agents guarded the doors to the laboratories or rather a door and a melted hole, courtesy of his girlfriend.
He hoped that nothing bad would happen to them.
'I just really hope that it won't be like in those crappy movies that I have to choose which one to save first…' he though with worry. 'Why can't we just catch a break for a little while?'
As on cue a very familiar howling filled the area with the sound of patter coming from above.
"Everyone get ready!"
Then the lights turned on.
"What the?" Ron uttered.
"Target acquired," a mechanical voice sounded through the corridors. Automatic turrets came out of the celling and opened fire at the agents and drones.
Ron narrowly avoided the storm of bullets by activating his shield. He was safe but the downside was that he was also immobile. Thinking fast, he turned Lotus Blade into a crossbow and started shooting, destroying the closest turrets in instant. He deactivated the shield and ran around the corridor, destroying the rest. Thanks to his MMP giving him additional boost he did it in record time. Sadly the surprise took out more than half of the drones as they were ripped to shreds by the bullets.
"Everyone! Focus on protecting the way to the labs!" he shouted as the enemies flooded the level. They were coming not only through the doors, but over the railing too. 'Shit, shit, shit!' Ron thought, avoiding a swipe from the lion looking prisoner. He punched him square across the jaw adding little MMP to his hit.
It was enough to send his crashing back into his approaching comrades.
The agents and remaining drones set a perimeter thanks to the constant fire that slowed the prisoners down. With Ron taking down stronger opponents the situation wasn't looking that grim.
That was until a freaking arm wrapped itself around Ron's waist.
"You've got to be kid–WHOOOAAAAA!" Ron shouted as he was yanked out of the corridor and hung in the air. He looked up seeing a woman hanging on the railing. She grinned madly at him and started spinning him. 'Now I know how the rocks feel in the slight shoot,' he thought disoriented as the world spun around him.
Suddenly the spinning came to a halt, replaced by a flight at dangerous speeds.
"KYAAAAAAAA!" Suddenly his fear of heights came back in full force. The floors turned into a blur so only thing he could see was a dark mass moving through the corridors. On his way he passed a giant ball suspended in air. He guessed that it was the command center they were supposed to capture. Looking up, he saw that he was almost at the very top of the prison.
Above it was a large hangar where the supplies and prisoners were brought. The only way to get there from the prison level was on the hover platforms. Another precaution in case of break in.
In case of an emergency, the staff could cut off the prison by sealing the round hole that led to the prison… which was currently happening.
The teeth like gate was now slowly closing, giving an image of some sort of monster's jaws, but Ron didn't have to worry about that. What he had to be worried was the speed he was flying up had started to decrease rather quickly.
"Oh boy…" he squeaked with panic as he almost came to stop. But before he started to scream like a little girl and fall to his death, he heard an inhuman hiss… that was quickly closing in on his location and seconds later a bat like creature flew from above and using its talon legs, grabbed his shoulders. Ron was then yanked up and flew past the gate right before it snapped shut.
The bat mutant then dropped Ron on the ground, but the blond managed to land graciously without falling on his butt or worse, on the Lotus blade. He then looked around, seeing an almost empty hangar with just two jets and a group of five dark clad figures.
He took a defensive stance, eyeing his opponents. Much to his surprise, he noticed that they wore a battle armor that looked exactly like the one he was wearing.
"Who are you people?" Ron asked, not really expecting the answer. One of the figures stepped forward and took off his helmet, making him gasp in shock. "You…"
"Long time no see… outsider."
A/N
Damn that took me a while! Writers blocks are really annoying. But I hope you liked it!
