Chapter 21
As Ziva sped out of the NCIS garage McGee scrambled to put on his seatbelt, knowing time was of the essence he decided to not waste any by commenting on Ziva's driving. Following the two NCIS agents out of the Bullpen and into the garage, Agent Fornell quickly hopped into the back of the car Ziva and McGee were using, shouting orders down his phone for his team to meet them at the location.
As McGee relayed the directions to Ziva he turned to face her, the sickness he always felt with Ziva driving taking a backseat with his concern for Tony and Gibbs "Do you think they are OK?" he asked worry lacing his tone. Ziva shot a quick look at McGee her own concern quite evident on her face " I hope so if not there will be heaven to pay" she turned back to her driving nodding once as McGee corrected her " its hell, Ziva, the saying goes there will be hell to pay".
Back at the house
Catherine was standing there slowly taking in the state of her ex-husband, shaking her head slightly as she could see nothing resembling the man she fell for all those years ago. Turning to face Tony she noticed his confusion in regards to what his so-called father was sprouting and decided that her son needed an explanation " oh darling, I know your confused as you wouldn't have received any papers yet regarding your inheritance. You see the money your father is talking about is the money I received from my family for the birth of my first child. It was quite a substantial amount at the time, plus I've added to it over the years as well."
Senior's head tilted slightly to the side as he muttered " Added to it... The bitch fucking added to it" before raising his gun once more waving it threateningly at her " Well that's excellent news... The amount should be more than enough for me now... If you would transfer the money to my account you might just get out of here alive, shame about your friend though." pointing the gun in the direction of the man he had shot before. Gibbs watched as Senior's face lit up at the prospect of there being more money, the greed that was written across his face made his expression even know manic he just hoped Ziva and McGee would be getting here soon so he could end this farce.
Tony stood beside his mother still wrapping his head around the fact that all this was over some money, he knew his father was a materialistic man but still to go this far was just plain ridiculous. Shifting slightly so he can face his father " look dad, why don't you put the gun down". Senior shifted his gaze to Tony, contempt loud and clear in his sneer and voice "Pathetic... Your no son of mine, in fact, if your Bitch of a mother won't transfer the money, it's no skin off my nose if I shoot you dead." At Senior's warning, Catherine let out a cry of outrage, attempting to move around her stubborn son. Gibbs also moved slightly closer to Tony, not at all likening the possibility of his Senior Field Agent - Son his subconscious supplies- being shot.
Back in Ziva's car
As Ziva raced through the traffic barely taking notice of the other cars and speed signs, especially the conditions of the two passengers she had with her, hands tightly gripped the steering wheel and she muttered to herself in Hebrew. McGee almost cried out as Ziva narrowly missed another cry only just stifling it in time, daring to look back at Fornell he noticed he had put away his phone and was grabbing tightly to the 'oh shot' handle. Feeling slightly better about his own response to Ziva's driving he quickly called out the next direction "Turn left at the next pass then follow the road in, the house is the big one at the end." Ziva nodded once then pressed he foot more firmly against the gas peddle pushing the car even faster than it was going.
Back at the house
Senior watched the way Gibbs and his ex-wife had reacted to his words, as well as Tony's slight flinch, smirking as he saw that "Pathetic, really... That inheritance was the only reason I let your mother keep you... It's mine...I Should've just taken it as soon as you were born". Senior watched as his words struck Tony hard, saw him withdraw slightly from his mother's touch. Tony flinched, he couldn't quite stop the reaction to what his father had said, unable to stop the hurt that appeared across his face. The hurt multiplied as he saw the gleeful look on his fathers face as he saw how much his statement had affected him.
Skidding the car around the corner Ziva slowed the car to a stop as the hose came into view, taking notice of the three other cars left outside of the house. The three of them silently removed themselves from the car, two on shaky legs although one was shaking slightly more than the other, as they waited for back up they could see to catch up to them. As the other agents from NCIS and the FBI approached Ziva, McGee, and Fornell to discuss the plan for the task ahead...
...BANG! A single shot was heard from the house startling the Agents present and disturbing the silence.
