Chapter Twenty-One
"Veronica, what do you mean Aaron didn't have any siblings? This DNA test doesn't lie." Keith was so close to yelling into the phone, but he knew it wasn't Veronica's fault that Logan was saying Aaron didn't have any siblings.
"Dad, I'm sorry, but Logan is saying Aaron didn't have any siblings. I don't know what else to tell you." Veronica sounded upset too.
"Wait, didn't Aaron grow up in foster homes?" Keith heard Veronica asking Logan his question.
"Yeah, dad. He said he was in and out of foster homes all his life. He'd go from to another, and most of them were with abusive parents. He always blamed that fact that he beat Logan on that." Veronica was sounding excited as she relayed what Logan said.
"So he could have had a brother or sister that no one else knew about?" Keith was getting excited, too.
"Yep! I'll call Cliff right now and get him started on investigating Aaron's background. I'll let you know as soon as I know something." Veronica hung up with her dad, and dialed Cliff's number. Logan was looking at her like she was crazy, but that was nothing new. He knew how she got when she was investigating something.
"Hey Cliff, this is Veronica. I need you to see what you can find out about Aaron Echolls' life before he went into foster care. He was about ten years old when he went into his first foster home. I need to know if he had any siblings, how many, what happened to them, and where they might be now. Please call me and let me know as soon as you know something. Thank you!" Veronica hung up with a satisfied look on her face.
"Veronica, do you really think he could have a brother out there doing all this? Why would he want to copy what my dad did?" Logan looked so disheartened, Veronica could barely stand it. She moved over to him and wrapped her arms around him.
"Alright guys, we're going through this place again, with a fine-tooth comb. I need to know if there's anything else here that we missed the first time around. Leave nothing unturned, nothing uninspected. We have to find something out here. He has to have to messed up somewhere else, and forgotten something else." Keith was getting frustrated. Deputy Sacks walked over to him and handed him a cup of coffee.
"Thanks, Sacks." Keith cupped his hands around the hot cup and took a deep breath to calm down. About that time, his phone rang. He looked at the screen. It was Cliff. He took another deep breath and answered the call.
