You are correct that Rogue is annoyed that Gabby is an old "fling" of Gambit's.
But don't hate her! She's a sweetheart and you'll see that in a bit!

Estou usando o Google translate, então peço desculpas por qualquer frase estranha...
Gabby é uma amada e você verá isso em breve! Por favor, não a odeie, haha.
Obrigado pela sua avaliação! Agradeço a sua dedicação a esta história!

LOL! No, she isn't his daughter. Awkward!
Leila is still learning how to control her powers. You'll see that sometimes when she wants to use them, she can't.
As for Rogue being pregnant, I can neither confirm nor deny this. You'll have to keep reading to find out!

"Earth ta Remy." Rogue said, waving her hand in front of his face.

Blinking several times, Gambit turned his head to the left and looked at her. "Huh?" He asked.

Slightly chuckling, Rogue placed her hand on the back of his head and combed her fingers through his hair. "Ya been spacin' out." She said. "Ya alright? Is it anything ya wanna talk about?"

Giving her a half grin, he shook his head. "Don' t'ink y' wanna be talkin' 'bout dis, chere." He said, looking into her green eyes.

Looking over at Leila and watching her play on the animal themed playground equipment, she sighed before she looked at her husband again. "Ah know it's about Gabby and ah'd be a pretty shitty wife if ah ignored ya feelings." She said, making him smile. "Come on, hun. Open up ta me."

Watching Leila, he shook his head slightly. "I hate de way I lef' her." He said, looking down at his feet.

"What do ya mean?" Rogue asked, crossing her legs and resting her right hand on his left thigh.

"Dey were de bes' people I ever met. So welcomin' and didn' care 'bout me bein' a mutant. Dey treated me like a normal person. Dat was somet'in' I hadn' had in a long time." He said, looking at Rogue. "Ain' gonna lie, I was happy. Since leavin' N' Orle'ns, I was hones'ly happy t'ere."

"So, why did ya leave?" Rogue asked, coaxing him to continue.

"Found evidence dat I was bein' followed. Didn' wanna put dem at risk." He said, looking forward and watching Leila have a great time.

"How long were ya there?" Rogue asked, scratching the back of her neck before she gently flipped her curly hair to lay against her back.

Gambit shrugged. "Sev'ral mont's." He said, looking back at Rogue. "I guess 'bout t'ree an' a ha'f."

"Well, ya did what ya had ta do." She said. "Sometimes that ain't tha choice we want, but it's tha choice that's gotta be made. Ya have a good heart, Remy. That's one of tha many things ah love about ya."

He gave her a genuine, loving smile as he leaned in and kissed her softly. "Love y', mon amour." He said, as they heard foot steps quickly come closer to them.

They saw it was Leila and she had a huge smile on her face. "Can we go see the giraffes now?" She asked.

"Of course, darlin'." Rogue said as they stood up and each took one of her hands. "We'll make sure ya have tons of treats ta give them."

"Yay!" Leila exclaimed as they head toward the giraffe enclosure.

"Did ya have a good time, sugah?" Rogue asked as she strapped Leila into the car seat.

"Oui!" She said with a smile, making Rogue chuckle.

Gambit smirked at Leila as they got into the car and he started up the engine. "Haven' heard y' speak French in a while, petit." He said as he slowly pulled out of the zoo parking lot.

"It comes out when it wants." Rogue said, looking back at Leila and winking.

Stopping at a red light, Gambit looked at Leila in the rear view mirror and smiled. "Smartes' petit I ever known." He said as he saw the light turn green, so he eased off the break and started to go.

Getting to the middle of the intersection, Rogue looked out her window and saw a garbage truck not stopping at the red light. "Remy!" She screamed, but it was too late.

The garbage truck slammed into the passenger side of the car, causing them to spin wildly out of control. The sound of glass shattering and screeching tires were all that Rogue could remember. It had all happened so fast and her head was spinning as she realized the car was lying on the passenger side. Ripping the seat belt off of her, she looked back to see Leila unconscious and her forehead was a bloody mess.

"Leila!" She screamed, pulling the seat forward and climbing to her. "Leila, baby, wake up!"

Looking back at Gambit, she saw he was slowly coming to. "Uh..." He groaned as he gently shook his head, getting rid of the fog.

"Are ya alright, Remy?" Rogue asked, the panic rising in her voice as she tried to get Leila to wake up.

"Yeah." He said, as he struggled with the seat belt. "Leila?"

Rogue gently pat Leila's face as she felt her eyes grow hot. "She ain't wakin' up! Leila, honey, please!" She screamed.

Charging up the seat belt, Gambit got free with a small explosion and fell to the passenger side of the car just behind Rogue. "Mon Dieu..." He said as he could see Leila more clearly.

He could feel his power surging through his body as the rage danced with it. Kicking the windshield out, he climbed out and saw a man stumble out of the garbage truck. Walking over to him, Gambit grabbed the man by the collar and slammed him against the side of the truck.

"Y' son o' a bitch!" He growled. "My daughter's in dat car!"

"I'm-I'm sorry! I didn't mean-" The man stumbled on his words.

Balling his fist, Remy lifted it and pulled back, ready to let it fly toward the man's face.

"Remy!" Rogue said, snapping him out of his rage. "We've gotta get her to a hospital!"

Letting the man go, he ran back over and climbed back in, seeing the wound on Leila's forehead oozing with blood. "Y t'ink y' can fly her t'ere?" He asked. "Is de school closer?"

"Ah don't know!" Rogue said, ripping her out of the car seat carefully before she got her out of the car.

A crowd had gathered and a few people walked up to them. "Ambulance is on the way." A woman said.

Turning to Gambit, Rogue held Leila close. "Ah'm gonna head ta tha school." She said.

"Go! I be righ' behind y'." He said as he watched her fly off and head toward the school.

Taking his phone out of his front pocket, he dialed the school and let them know what to expect.

Busting through the front doors, Rogue took a left, causing students to move out of the way. "Help!" She cried out. "Hank!"

Running out of his lab, Hank took the small child and quickly took her over to a bed and hooking her up to oxygen. "What on earth happened?" He asked, taking his stethoscope and listening to her heart and lungs.

"A garbage truck ran a red light and slammed into tha car." Rogue said, wiping the tears that were freely falling. "Ya gotta help her, Hank! Please!"

"I'll do my best." He said, wheeling her over to the x-ray machine. "Help me gently transfer her to this table."

After transferring her and putting on the protective gowns, Hank took several x-rays before they put her back on the bed and kept the oxygen on her. "Come on, sugah pop." Rogue said, pushing Leila's stray hairs away from her forehead that had been plastered down from the blood.

"I'm going to clean these wounds up and see what I'm working with." Beast said as Jean ran into the lab.

"Oh my god!" She said as she walked over and placed her hands on Leila's head and closed her eyes.

"Is she alright, Jean?" Rogue asked. "Please!"

"Anna, I just contacted Rikki. She's on her way to help." Jean said.

"But is she alright?!" Rogue asked.

"She has several broken bones and what looks to be a concussion, but she is alive." Beast said, looking at the next set of x-rays. "Where's Remy?"

"He's on his way." Rogue said, hugging herself.

A few moments later, Rikki ran through the door. "Oh my god..." She said as she went to Leila's side. "Where are the breaks?"

"Right forearm and femur. Possibly three ribs. I see two definite breaks." Hank said as he showed Rikki on the x-rays.

"Okay." Rikki said as as Hank set Leila's arm.

Placing her hand on Leila's arm, Rikki closed her eyes and concentrated on the break, letting her powers flow. Rogue was biting her lip in anticipation. This was killing her, watching this happen to her daughter. She felt a hand on her back and saw Wolverine. Turning to him, she hugged him tight and started to cry.

"She'll be alright, darlin'." He whispered as he gently rubbed her back, hearing her sob uncontrollably into his shoulder was making his own eyes hot with tears.

"She's all we got, Logan." Rogue cried.

"She's gonna be fine, kid." Logan said, still comforting her.

After what seemed like an eternity, Rikki had healed Leila's bones and wounds, but she was still unconscious due to the concussion. Beast had attached monitors to her head to watch her brain activity, making sure she didn't slip into a coma or worse. They all looked to the lab doors when they heard running and saw Gambit. Rogue immediately walked over and hugged him tight, tears once again starting their escape from her green eyes.

"How is she?" He asked, hugging Rogue tight.

"Rikki healed her, but she's unconscious." Jean said.

Breaking the hug, Gambit walked over and looked down at his daughter. She was bruised up pretty bad, but she was breathing. Reaching out, he placed his hand on her forehead before he bent over and kissed it.

"Vous êtes une fille forte, alors revenez nous voir." He whispered before kissing her forehead again and standing up straight.

"Let me clean those cuts on your face." Hank said, grabbing some gauze and antibacterial cleanser pads.

"I'm fine." Gambit said. "Jus' keep tendin' t' her."

"There's nothing more I can do for her. She has to wake up on her own." Beast said as he started to clean the cuts Gambit had gotten from the shattering glass.

"Ah can't stand seein' her like this." Rogue said, hugging herself as she looked down at Leila.

Reaching out, Gambit wrapped his right arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. "She be fine, chere." He said softly. "Hank be de bes' doctor in dis city."

"Do ya think she's got any kinda brain damage?" Rogue asked, looking at Beast.

Beast shook his head. "I won't know for certain until she wakes up and I can do further testing." He said, placing suture glue on two of the larger cuts on Gambit's face. "She's too fragile for me to do them while she's like this. I wouldn't want her to slip into a coma."

"Ce putain de bâtard!" Gambit cursed as he kicked a small table, knocking it over and spilling it's contents everywhere.

"I know you're upset. You have every right to be, but please refrain from destroying my lab again." Hank said, placing his hand on Gambit's shoulder.

Rubbing his face, avoiding the cuts that were just cleaned, he sighed. "Désolé." He said, running his hands through his hair.

Turning to him, Rogue pressed herself against Gambit's chest and placed her hands on either side of his face. "Are ya alright? Nothing's broken?" She asked, looking over his face.

"Non. I be fine." He said, slightly shaking his head as he looked down at Leia. "How long y' t'ink she be out?"

Beast shook his head. "I have no idea." He said, looking at his friends. "You have my word that I won't let anything happen to her."

Feeling a hand on her shoulder, Rogue looked to see Betsy. "Can I get you two anything?" She asked.

"No." Rogue said. "Thanks, though."

"I'm so sorry this has happened." Betsy said. "Please, reach out to me while I'm here if you need anything."

Rogue nodded and forced a smile as she looked back at Gambit. He was looking down at Leila, expressionless. Just looking.

"I should'a waited." He said. "Should'a looked bot' ways."

"Don't ya dare beat ya self up. It ain't ya fault." Rogue said. "Tha light turned green."

"But if I looked, I could'a stopped." He said slightly raising his voice as he looked into her eyes.

Feeling her eyes grow hot again, Rogue shook her head as she turned away from him. "Ya can't go back and change things, Remy, and it ain't ya fault." She said, feeling a tear escape her eye as she felt his hands run up her arms and rest on her shoulders before he hugged her.

"I'm sorry." He whispered into her left ear. "I be so scared. Don' know how t' deal wit' dis."

Turning around Rogue hugged him tight. "Ah'm scared outta my mind, but we're in this together. We've gotta be strong for each other." She said, looking up into his eyes. "Deal?"

He nodded. "Deal." He said as she moved closer and kissed him softly.

It had been several hours since Leila had been brought to Hank and there was no change. She was still unconscious and unresponsive. Standing, Rogue stretched her limbs before she looked back at Gambit.

"Ah'm gonna grab a bite. Ya want anything, sugah?" She asked.

He shook his head. "Non." He said, looking up at her. "T'anks, doe."

Giving him a wink, she head out of the medical wing and into the kitchen where Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Psylocke and Wolverine sat discussing something at the island bar. They all looked at her as she walked in and they smiled warmly at her.

"How's she doing?" Jean asked.

"Tha same." Rogue said, walking over and grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl.

"How's Remy?" Jean asked.

Rogue shook her head. "He's blamin' himself." She said, leaning back against the counter as she took a bite.

"None of this is his fault." Jean said.

"Ah know. Ah told him that, but he's holdin' on to it like it is." She said shaking her head. "Ah don't know what ta do. Leila's lying in a bed unconscious. Ah'm tryin' ta be strong for both of us, but ah can't."

Rogue couldn't help but break down and let the tears fall. Jean moved in and gave her a hug.

"You don't have to be strong for the both of you. You have all of us to lean on." She said, hugging her tight. "I've been checking on Leila ever since she was stable. She's alright. Even though she's unconscious, I can sense she's alright."

"Can ya talk to her?" Rogue asked, sniffing.

"Yes and no." Jean said, shaking her head. "It's more complicated than you think."

"As long as she's alright, that's all ah need ta know." She said, wiping her eyes.

"It is a good thing Rikki was here to help heal her wounds." Storm said. "She accelerated her healing time according to Hank."

Taking in a deep breath, Rogue slowly released it as she composed herself. "Ah'm sorry y'all." She said, waving her hands to fan her face.

"Don't be apologizin', kid." Wolverine said. "This ain't somethin' we should be taking lightly."

"As Jean said, Leila is fine." Psylocke said as she stood and walked over to where Rogue and Jean stood. "Do you need anything? Please, let me know."

"If ah think of anything, ah'll be sure and let ya know." Rogue said, giving Psylocke a genuine smile.

Watching his daughter closely; every breath that came in and out, Gambit was leaning forward resting his elbows on his knees. He was pretty banged up from the crash, but he didn't care. Nothing mattered right now except Leila. Letting out a deep sigh, he leaned back in the chair and jumped when he felt a hand on his right shoulder.

"Sorry." It was Gabby.

Watching her, she sat down beside him where Rogue had been sitting. They were quiet for a moment as they focused on the small child that was hooked up to the oxygen machine.

"Remy," Gabby started, her voice quiet. "I'm sorry this happened."

"Ain' yo' fault." He answered quietly.

"I know, but I'm still sorry." Gabby said. "This," She looked at Leila before continuing. "no parent should have to go through this. My heart hurts for you."

Finally taking his gaze from Leila, he looked at Gabby. "T'ank you." He said.

Reaching out, Gabby placed her hand on his left forearm. "I just want you to know that I'm your friend and I care about you." She said.

"Even if I up and lef' y'all like I did?" He asked, looking down at her hand.

Taking her hand back, she pursed her lips together. "I know you had your reasons and I'm not asking you to explain yourself." She said. "I know you had stuff going on and that's none of my business. Just know that I forgave you a long time ago."

He gave her a small smile as he reached over and took her hand and gave it a squeeze. "T'ank you." He said. "I never fo'gave m'self, bu' maybe now I can." He said, his smile growing into a real smile. "An' t'anks fo' bein' my friend. Don' got a whole lot o' t'ose t'ese days."

Placed her left hand on top of his, she smiled. "Everyone needs a friend." She said, smiling back at him.

Stopping at the entrance of the lab, Rogue didn't want to jump to conclusions, but why was her husband holding another woman's hand? She shook the thought from her head as she entered, her shoes echoing on the tile floor.

They looked back at her and Gabby withdrew her hands quickly from Gambit's. "I'll leave you two alone. You need to be with your daughter." Gabby said as she stood and left the lab.

Standing by Gambit's right side, Rogue crossed her arms over her chest. "Ah keep walkin' in at tha wrong times with y'all." She said.

"Anna." He said.

"Please tell me there's nothin' goin' on between tha two of y'all." She said looking down at Leila.

Gambit's brows furrowed. "Wha'?" He asked, standing and tilting his head. "Who? Gabby?" He pointed his right thumb to the door.

"Yes, Gabby." Rogue said, turning to him with tears in her eyes. "Ah can't deal with tha fact our only child is layin' in a damn hospital bed and one of ya old flings is all over ya."

Shaking his head in confusion, he took her hands. "Wha' de hell." It was more of a statement. "Y' lookin' fo' somet'in' dat ain' even t'ere."

"Am ah?" She asked, her voice slightly raising. "Ah just walked in on tha two of ya holdin' hands, Remy."

"Non." He said shaking his head. "Dat ain' even wha' was happenin'."

"Ah'm ragin' with jealously and anger right now. Ah know ya said ah shouldn't be, but what tha hell, Remy?" She asked, pulling her hands away. "You're my goddamn husband!"

Rubbing his face in annoyance and frustration, he took in a deep breath, thinking about his next words carefully.

But nothing came out.

He couldn't say anything as he was suddenly overcome with a wave of emotion. His his chin quivered as his eyes filled with tears. Covering his mouth with his left hand, he bowed his head as he rested his right hand on his hip and tried not to let the sobs out.

Rogue was taken back with this sudden change in him and immediately kicked herself. She was a hothead and it always got her into trouble. Now, because of it, she might have ruined their marriage.

Running his fingers through his hair and stopping at the sides of his head, he shook his head. "Wha' do y' want me t' say, Anna?" He asked desperately, his voice weak and cracking as the tears fell freely down his cheeks. "At dis point, I don' feel like y' b'lieve anyt'in' I tell you."

Her heart broke seeing him like this. "Ah'm sorry." Rogue said, softly as she stepped closer and hugged him, wrapping her arms around his head. "Ah'm so sorry, Remy. Ah didn't mean..."

He hugged her back tightly as he cried more. "I love y' mo' dan anyt'in'. If I haven' done enough t' show dat, den I work on it." He said as Rogue pulled away.

"Remy." She said, wiping the tears from his cheeks and giving him a loving smile. "Ya've gone above and beyond ta show me that ya love me. Ah'm just a superficial jealous bitch."

Gambit let out a few chuckles. "Ain' far from de trut', no?" He asked, making her smile as he placed his hand on the side of her face. "Je t'aime." He spoke softly.

"Ah love ya, too." She said, kissing his forehead. "Ah think tha accident has us both on edge. Ah'm sorry." She hugged him again. "Ah'm so sorry for even accusin' ya."

Sniffling, he ran his fingers through her hair, making her look at him. "It be a'right, chere." He said. "Could never be mad at you."

Leaning into him, they looked at Leila. "Jean said Leila let her know she was alright." Rogue said, looking up at Gambit.

He looked down at her. "She talk t' her telepat'ically?" He asked.

"Yes and no?" Rogue said, unsure herself. "Jean couldn't explain it, but she's fine and that's all that matters."

Looking down at his daughter, he wrapped his right arm around Rogue's waist. "Wonder if she can tell Jeanie when she be wakin' up." He said.

Rogue shook her head. "Ah don't know." She said. "Ah don't even think she knows when she'll wake up. We'll just have to wait it out."
