Bonnie laughed so hard that she fell off the sofa.
Witnessing this just a few feet away, Matt bent forward spitting out his beer and spilling more of it onto his mother's carpet as he died laughing.
Yeah, they were fucked up.
Alaric was going to have a fucking fit when he got back from vacation to discover his twelve pack of Bud Light was gone.
It was close to midnight and the two teenagers had been drinking since Matt got off work. They'd ordered a pepperoni pizza for dinner and half of it sat cold on the coffee table in the living room surrounded by a ton of empty beer cans.
"Bon you okay?" He was able to get out through his laughter.
She rolled over onto her side laughing while struggling to sit up, not knowing that she'd come dangerously close to cracking her skull on the edge of the sharp table.
"Yeah, I'm good." She giggled.
The beer can in his hand got slammed down to the table causing more spillage as he crawled over to her to make sure because she hit the floor pretty hard.
"Oh my god, that was so funny…I can't believe you did that! That was like something that happens on American's Funniest Videos! Man, you hit the floor really hard."
She was able to get a good grip on the side of the table and pulled herself up into a sitting position. Matt settled down beside her with his back resting against the front of the sofa.
"I know. I'm going to be really stiff and sore in the morning…I'll probably even have bruises." She said releasing a heavy breath, not really caring at the moment.
She slumped forward laying her head on the table. "To bad I don't have any vampire blood right now." She muttered, closing her eyes.
Matt frowned, screwing up his handsome face. "What?"
"Vampire blood. It heals everything…even hangovers." She said sleepily as she yawned.
Bonnie was so drunk that she didn't realize what she was saying.
Matt didn't know about Damon and Stefan being vampires. She never told him. She struggled with the decision on whether or not to tell him, but both Damon and Stefan agreed that it was best if he didn't know and in the end Bonnie thought they were right.
Too much was at risk, but more importantly what if Matt couldn't handle knowing about the supernatural world. That revealing all of this to him would ruin his life, causing him to question his sanity and slowly drive him crazy?
No, Bonnie couldn't do it. It would be a heavy burden to place upon him. So it was best that he stayed ignorant of what was going on in her life. He would be much happier and safer that way.
"Vampire blood? Bonnie, what are you talking about?"
"The blood…Damon's and Stefan's blood have healing properties. It can probably heal cancer and AIDS too." She yawned again more loudly.
He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Are you saying that Stefan and Damon are vampires?"
Bonnie's eyes shot open, realizing what she'd done.
She just outed Damon and Stefan as vampires to her best friend who she wanted no part in all of this madness.
Oh god, this wasn't good.
She slowly sat up and turned her head to look at him, trying to gauge his reaction so she would know how to proceed forward.
He was looking at her like she'd lost her damn mind.
Good. That was really good. He'd think she was just talking out of her head because of the alcohol, so she'd go with that.
She faced forward again, grabbing a slice of cold pizza out the box and taking a small bit like she never said anything.
"Bonnie, did you just say that the Salvatore's are vampires?"
The pizza felt like she was swallowing a bulldozer. She purposefully didn't look at him, hating herself for having to lie to him this way.
She scoffed. "I think somebody's had too much to drink."
"Yeah, we both have. Now getting back to what you said about Damon and Stefan."
Shit.
"I have to pee." She said, dropping the pizza in the box and snatching up her phone as she got up from the floor, stumbling a little on her feet.
"Bonnie!" He called out.
"I'll be right back, geez Matt, chill out!"
Oh god, oh god, oh god! Bonnie panicked as she closed the bathroom door.
She was too drunk to think properly and therefore she couldn't go back out there and risk telling Matt everything. She didn't know what to do.
Her mind kept telling her to call Damon, but what if he went all psychotic and tried to kill Matt?
Oh god!
No. She couldn't call him.
Stefan!
YES, she could call Stefan! He would know what to do and Matt would be safe.
Bonnie started to calm down some. She licked her dry lips and called him, praying that he'd answer his phone.
After the fifth ring, he picked up. "Bonnie, are you okay?" Knowing that something had to be wrong because they'd parted on less than friendly terms.
"Oh god Stefan, I did something really stupid! I told Matt about you and Damon being vampires! We've been drinking beer all night and I just started talking not realizing until it was too late and then I tried to pretend like it was just the alcohol talking, but he won't let it go. Oh god Stefan, I don't know what to do!"
"Bonnie, listen to me, I'm on my way. Everything is going to be alright, okay?"
She nodded her head, covering her mouth, trying to keep calm. "Okay."
What she didn't know was that the moment she hung up the phone, the Salvatore brothers got into a heated argument because of course Damon heard everything and was hell bent on going over there.
And when Stefan pointed out to his irrational older brother that Bonnie didn't call him and therefore didn't want him there, it was safe to say that Damon didn't take it well.
The sound of Stefan's neck being snapped was utterly cringe worthy.
Bonnie didn't leave the bathroom until she heard the doorbell ring and when she got to the living room Matt was already opening the door.
And there stood Damon like some avenging angel and she liked to have shit her pants.
So many thoughts were going through her head as she stared at him, like where was Stefan? But now wasn't the time for that. Damon was there instead which meant that Matt was in danger.
Bonnie's fear was real.
She yelled out. "No, don't invite him in!" Stupidly forgetting that Damon had been invited into this residence long ago by the lady of the house herself, Kelly Donovan.
It was true. Alcohol did indeed destroy brain cells.
Bonnie liked to have fainted when Damon pushed his way into the house, her stunned hazel eyes widening not understanding how he was able to come inside without being invited.
"You seriously need to stop drinking, you little fool." And he said it so endearingly that it wasn't taken as an insult. "Now go get your things while I clean up your mess."
She swallowed hard. "No. I want you to leave Damon. I'll handle this myself." She said, looking at him pointedly.
Even though Matt was drunk, he could still feel the weirdness of the situation, but he assumed wrongly what was the cause of it.
"Hey look man, you got to go. Bonnie said that she needed some space from you so you need to respect that and leave her alone."
Damon had had just about of enough of Matt Donovan and he grabbed the teenage boy by his face, pushing him hard against the wall.
Bonnie screamed, rushing over to them. "Damon stop! What are you doing?!"
Matt couldn't talk because the vampire gripped his jaw in such a way that the boy couldn't open his mouth.
"I'm sick of you…you know that? Sick." Damon sneered in the teenager's face, his eyes bulging crazily.
Bonnie grabbed his arm, trying in vain to pull him off. "Let him go!"
Damon ignored her. "Every time I fucking turn around, there you are…if you're not in my house, you're calling on the phone."
Matt's face was turning red.
"Damon, let him go!" She screamed.
"It's gotten to the point where I even hate the sound of your fucking voice." He gritted out, tightening his hold on the scared boy.
Oh god, he was going to crush Matt's jaw if he didn't stop.
Bonnie knew she had to do something fast, so remembering what Damon said about how it excites vampires when humans run from them she took a chance and shot out of the house in hopes that Damon would follow.
So stupid or not that was the only thing her alcohol induced mind could come up with and she ran with it, literally.
It worked though.
The sound of the heavy screen door clicking shut got Damon's attention and he realized she was gone.
He swore under his breath and then compelled Matt to forget everything that happened, including Bonnie coming over to stay before he went after her.
The teenager didn't know where she was going; she just ran knowing that Damon would be able to track her, but that didn't matter. The goal was to get him away from Matt and she didn't want to make it easy for him, so she cut through the houses, not realizing until it was too late that it would only lead her into the woods.
Being drunk was really fucking Bonnie up big time because even though she was thinking on her feet; she kept making the wrong decisions as how to go about things
Once he was outside the house, Damon blocked out everything and concentrated solely on Bonnie's scent and when he picked it up he vamped out following her trail.
Having fallen twice mainly due to her inebriation Bonnie's clothes were all dirty and thanks to it having rained earlier in the day her once pristine white chucks were ruined forever by the mud.
It was so dark and scary in the woods. She tried to retrace her steps but she'd somehow gotten turned around and she began to freak out.
"Damon can you hear me…I'm in the woods…I'm lost in the woods!" She yelled out.
She heard a tiny snap like someone stepping on a thin tree branch and froze. "D-Damon… is that you?"
Eerily silence.
The teenager swallowed hard, looking all around her with wide, frightened eyes.
Another snapped was heard, but this time it was much closer to Bonnie and she screamed, taking off running, going deeper into the woods.
She fell for the third time, this time getting the wind knocked out of her.
"You know, if this was a horror movie you'd be so dead right now." Damon teased, standing over her.
She sighed, relief flooding her entire body. But it was short lived as she thought about Matt and she jumped up from the ground and charged him.
"What did you do?! What did you do to him you fucking bastard?"
Damon reached out taking hold of her hands so that Bonnie wouldn't hurt herself.
She kicked him.
"Stop it, you little fool!" Slightly shaking her. "He's fine, but if you keep this up he won't be!"
Bonnie kicked him again for good measure before snatching out of his loose grasp, breathing heavily.
"He better be, you asshole!"
Damon took in her disheveled appearance. Even though it was night, it was still humid outside and Bonnie had gotten all hot and sweaty from running away from him. Her natural scent was calling out to him, turning him on.
"So now that you've gotten me out here Ms. Bennett…what on earth do you plan on doing with me?"
She rolled her eyes. "Damon just get me out of here. I'm all dirty…I need to shower."
"Not so fast, I think dirty looks good on you, real good." He said, leering at her.
Bonnie didn't have time for this shit. She was hot and could feel the sweat trickling down her body in various places.
"I'm mad at you remember…so there'll be no fucking in the woods or any other place for that matter, you stupid idiot. Now let's go!"
Damon didn't budge from the spot he was standing in.
"You being angry with me has never stopped us from fucking each others brains out before." He reasoned.
"That was before you threatened to turn me into a fucking vampire, you psycho!"
"Well I didn't, did I?" He shouted back.
"That's not the point Damon! Why can't you see that?" She voice became full of hurt. "Do you know how powerless you made me feel last night? You could have done anything that you wanted to do to me and I wouldn't have been able to stop you."
Damon lowered his eyes.
"Is that what you want from me…for me to be afraid of you?" Pause. "Because I was."
Damon felt the weight of her words on his heart. He'd never messed up this badly before. He didn't want her to see him as a monster, but that's exactly how he behaved towards her.
How was he supposed to fix this? By being honest with her.
He lifted his eyes to hers, shaking his head. "No, I never want you to be afraid of me, Bonnie. Last night..." He stopped, gulping as he found this part hard to say aloud. "...I was hurt when you looked at me like the monster I am instead of the man you love and something inside of me snapped and I lashed out at you in the worst way. I was wrong and I'm sorry, Baby."
Her eyes began to water, every part of her wanting to run and put her arms around him because Stefan was right. She had hurt him. But to go to Damon now and hug him would make him think everything was okay when it wasn't.
So she remained still.
She swallowed hard, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to come. "I should have talked to you about how I was feeling about everything. But I felt like if I told you how I was still struggling with you being a vampire, you'd leave again and you had just returned home Damon and I missed you so much." She paused, shaking her head. "I couldn't go through that again. So I kept everything bottled up inside."
A tear escaped from her eyes. "I want to be able to understand and fully accept that part of you, I really do."
He vamped sped to her. She didn't flinch. He gently wiped the tear away, caressing her face. "You have to be patient with me okay." She said looking up into his eyes. She sniffed. "But what happened last night can never happen again Damon because there will be no second chances."
He nodded his head solemnly, swallowing hard.
She finally gave in and allowed herself to hug him.
Damon buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent and his body relaxed in her arms.
"I love you so much Bonnie."
"And I love you." She said, kissing his neck.
But Damon wanted more than that, so he pulled back and gently kissed her lips.
And like always, it didn't take long for it to turn passionate.
Bonnie found herself being pressed against a tree. She pushed at his chest, breaking the kiss. "No Damon, I'm not going to let you fuck me."
He actually pouted. "But why, we just made up?"
She nodded in confirmation. "Yes, about last night. But not about what just happened with Matt."
Damon scoffed, pushing his hands from off the tree. "He had it coming." He spat out, looking away in disgust.
Bonnie grabbed a hold of his gorgeous face, doing him like he did Matt. "From now on you will keep your hands off of Matt… otherwise you won't be getting so much as a whiff of my coochie. Is that clear?"
Damon stared at her with those crazy eyes of his, looking as if he didn't like how he was being handled, but it was all a front because he was so turned on that his fucking balls hurt.
She stood up on her tiptoes, getting in his face. "Now take me home, you little fool."
