Hey friends :D Good new and bad news. Bad news is, I totally forgot it was Tuesday and that was time to update. Good news is I had like nothing to do tonight and was able write it all! Well, I really didn't have time but I did it anyways :D Cause I love you guys. And this story!
And I love Jelsa! Anddddd some Mericup. Lots of Mericup.
Disclaimer: Not yet guys... I've been choreographing for this class I'm in and so... not yet :P
Hiccup was in his room, throwing on a leather jacket and grabbing Jack's helmet, eager to take Jack's loaned motorcycle for a spin. Then his phone dinged.
He looked down at the screen, and upon seeing Merida's name, eagerly opened the message.
I was going to study for our music history test tonight. Wanna come over and help me?
Hiccup chuckled. They had a running joke that Merida always needed help with her music history, when in reality, he was the one who needed help. He was one of those rare music majors that was more mathematical-minded, which was very helpful when it came to music theory, where Merida actually needed the help.
His bike spin would have to wait; his lady beckoned. But…
I would love to, but only if you promise to go on an adventure with me when we need a break. Deal?
He was not disappointed when she replied quickly.
Deal.
He grabbed his laptop, music history book, and tossed them in a backpack. Then, he went back into Jack's room, grabbing the extra helmet he had reserved for Elsa.
Three minutes later, he was walking through her door, saying hi to Flynn and Rapunzel who were cuddling on the couch and watching a movie. Hiccup walked to Merida's door, knocked, and then opened the door and walked in. Merida had yelled at him many a time not to make her get up and open the door; he took this as rights to just walk it, but still knocked to make sure she was decent.
"Hi nerd," she chirped, her head of red curls buried in her music history book as she sat against the wall on her bed, cuddled in a blanket. Some soft classical music was playing in the background.
"Hello sunshine," he retorted. This was their normal exchange. Merida called him a nerd, because he knew he hated it. And so he did for the first month, but soon it became a term of endearment to him. Same with him calling her 'sunshine.'
Hiccup crossed the room, ditching the helmets and his jacket, and climbed onto the bed with her. As he pulled out his laptop, Merida threw half the blanket over his lap. Many a nights they have spent together in this position, studying or chatting.
She turned to him, smiling up at him and not-so-gently slugging him in the arm. Hiccup was happy that, though tougher, she was shorter than him. He had grown considerably the year before and was just now beginning to fill out his figure.
The punch to the arm was usually all he got in greeting. He knew that Merida did not especially enjoy physical contact. Through the many months of studying together, he had come to realize just how comfortable she was with him by how close they had come to sitting next to each other. What had started off as separate sides of the bed, with a good two feet in between them, had turned into sitting so close, their arms brushed. She even hugged him sometimes. He relished all those moments, but didn't need the contact to know that she did deeply care about him, even if just as a friend.
I just hope that one day it can be more than that.

Elsa was laughing as Jack turned off the road to a gravel road. She loved how he was always able to make her laugh, regardless of the mood she was in.
They pulled slightly off the road, right on a hill overlooking the city-skyline. He detangled his hand from hers and jumped into the backseat of the car.
"Come on!" he beckoned.
Once she was in the back, he folded down the front two seats and pulled a picnic basket out from under his feet. Using the front seats as a table, he set out a spread of Antipasta; tons of crackers and cheese, olives, fruit, bruschetta, and the like. He tossed her a bottle of sparkling water, which she smiled at, knowing he remembered how fond of it she was, and then he set out some electric candles flickering like the stars.
"Jack, this is stunning. Thank you so much." She leaned back into his arm that was over the back of the seat and smiled up at him. He leaned down and pressed a chaste kiss to her forehead.
"Anytime, Princess. I wanted to make our first real date special."
"Well, it definitely is. I don't know how you're going to top this one, Frost." She smirked at him as she leaned forward and started munching on food.
Jack smirked back, "You don't know what tricks I have up my sleeve, love." He thought for a second. "So does that mean you will go on another date with me?" He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back from grabbing more food and onto his lap. The momentum took her to the side so she was more sitting across his lap.
Elsa, once she got over the shock, smiled up at him. She leaned into his embrace and kissed his cheek. "I guess so."
Jack grinned down at her and leaned in, whispering against her lips, "Good, because you didn't have a choice."
She smiled as they kissed.

"...and so that is why Haydn was the biggest influence of the beginning of the Classical era!" Merida smiled triumphantly.
Hiccup finished typing the notes she had explained to him and then looked down at her, his eyes dancing. "That makes total sense when you explain it! You should just always explain all of this to me, rather than the professor. I'd maybe learn something in class."
Merida chuckled, "We can't talk any more than we already do during class, or the Professor is going to kick us out."
"But you always help me! We aren't talking about outside things! That often…"
Merida opened her mouth to retort, but was interrupted by her phone ringing. They both glanced down at the screen, and Merida rolled her eyes seeing that it was her mother.
"Merida, you should probably answer that. I know it's the fourth or fifth time you've ignored it. And I know how much your mom hates being ignored."
She sighed, knowing he was right. It would only add malice to whatever beef her mother had with her this time. She reached out to the still ringing phone.
Hiccup set a hand on her arm, "And I'm right here for you."
She answered the call, nodding at Hiccup.
"Hello?"
Hiccup could hear her mother's muffled voice on the other side of the phone, seemingly lecturing her for not answering the phone.
"But Mum, you know how busy I am. I'm studying hard and practicing hard to get good grades."
He heard her mother protest, and knew exactly what she was saying. Merida had often complained that her mom did not want her to go to a Performing Arts school for music.
He could see her hand balling up and her nails digging into the skin of her palm. Without thinking, he reached for her hand and un-balled it, rubbing the tension out of it. His fingers danced over her soft palm, trying to relax her.
He withdrew, realizing what he was doing. Oddly enough, Merida didn't seem to protest and was focused on the conversation with her mother.
"What!? Mum, no! I won't do that!"
Hiccup looked at her worriedly, seeing her hand ball up again. He did the same action, but left his hand on top of hers to prevent her from doing the same again; not holding her hand, but offering support.
"NO. And that's final."
She hung up on her protesting mother, and chucked her phone angrily onto the bed. Hiccup hesitantly kept his hand on hers, waiting for the burst of temper that usually followed a phone conversation with her mother. But instead, Merida burst into tears and collapsed her head onto his shoulder.
Surprised, but concerned, Hiccup withdrew the hand that was on hers and replaced it with his other hand, and then put his now free arm around her and drawing her further into him.
His hand was drawing circles on hers as he let her cry, trying to offer some solace.
After a while, the crying had abated some, but Merida's head was still tucked in his neck and his hand still on hers. He took the hand that was around her and smoothed her hair back.
He was surprised when she entwined her fingers with his. Pleasantly surprised, nonetheless.
Her muffled voice came from his neck, and he could feel her smooth lips against his neck, "She and dadda are taking the triplets and moving back to Scotland to take care of me grandparents. And she wants, no, demanded for me to drop out of school and go with them."
Hiccup sharply inhaled, the thought of her far away too much. "What did she say when you protested?"
"That I had to go with to 'do my duty to the family' and that the time for this silly game at school was done." She began crying again.
Hiccup smoothed her hair again and tightened his hold on her and her hand.
