Chapter 21
It was Peyton's turn.
She went on the runaway and continued to flaunt her curvy figure. She twirled at the end of the ramp, before winking at the audience as she headed back. She was met with loud cheers and whistles.
I still got it, she thought.

"Daddy, why are you smiling?", a cute little blonde girl asked.
"She looks pretty doesn't she?" Jake asked his little girl as his eyes remained fixed on Peyton.
"Yeah, who's she?"
"That's Peyton. Do you remember her?"
Jenny held out her fingers and brought them close together.
"A little.", she said in her soft high voice.

Nathan had just arrived. He was tired because he had come all the way from Duke. But he still looked as handsome as ever in his black tuxedo and red tie. He pushed past the crowd and tried to get in front. He stopped for a while to see if there were any empty seats. He saw Skills from a distance. He laughed at the site of Skills clapping and whistling. Then his eyes wandered left, causing him to see Jake and Jenny.
"Hey Jake, man!", he yelled.
"Nate! Come over here"
Nathan headed towards them. Jake took Jenny on his lap to make room for Nathan.
"So what did I miss?", Nathan asked.
"Haley."
"You serious?", Nathan looked disappointed
"Nah just kidding man."
Nathan made himself comfortable on the seat.
"Hi, Jenny."
"Jen, say hi to uncle Nathan."
"Hello, uncle Nathan.". Jenny shook his hand.
"How you doing pretty lady?", Nathan asked?
Jenny's cheeks blushed. "I'm okay. Daddy said Peyton looks pretty.", Jenny blurted out.
Nathan looked at Jake. Jake just raised his shoulders and shrugged.
"You're getting me into a lot of trouble!", he said to Jenny as he hugged her.

"Haley, you're up."
Haley started towards the runway. The lights sort of caught her by surprise but she continued to walk anyway. She looked stunning. Absolutely stunning.
Nathan saw her and immediately his hand reached for his chest as it slowly slid down. He was speechless.
Jake elbowed him.
"What?", Nathan asked sheepishly.
"You still like her, don't you."
Nathan nodded.
Jake didn't know about the weekend Nathan and Haley shared. But it was still so obvious to him, that after all these years Nathan still felt something for Haley.
Their conversation was interrupted by a screech from the microphone.
"May I have your attention please.", Brooke announced.
The crowds became quiet for a minute and all eyes were on her.
"Now that you've seen our gorgeous girls, the auction is officially open. And guys, please remember this is for charity."
The crowd laughed in unison.
"Ladies and gentlemen, here's Megan…"
"Do I hear a….."
The bidding continued.
"And now, my best friend Peyton Sawyer."
Brooke knew Jake would be there. She also knew that he didn't have a lot of money.
"A hundred dollars…", a cry from the crowd came.
"A hundred and fifty…" another replied.
"Two hundred dollars." Jake stood up.
Before anyone else could say anything, Brooke intervened.
"That's settled, the gentleman with the little girl wins."
Peyton was ecstatic. But at the back of her mind, a name kept ringing. Lucas. She still had to sort out her feelings for him. Maybe a night with Jake would help her get things into perspective, she thought.
"Up next, ladies and gentlemen, the singer come model..." Brooke joked, "Haley James. Do I hear a bid for Haley James?"
