Chapter 21:
"Brooklyn Baby"
"Is that bad that I never wanna leave this bed?" Piper asked as she traced figures on Alex's bare back. The blonde had always loved touching her back because it was so sexy and intimate and she knew Alex loved it. "Sometimes I still think that I'm going to wake up in a bunk bed, but here I am. It's 10:30 and we're still in bed and you are here with me, and you are deliciously naked. Oh god." Piper moved on a top of Alex's body and kissed her back. "You're so beautiful I can't never get enough of you."
Alex pillow muffled her giggle. "As much as I'd love to continue yesterday's marathon, we should probably look for an apartment as fast as we can. Your mom will be back soon and I'm pretty sure she doesn't want the girl who ruined her daughter's life living under her roof," Alex remarked lifting her head to look at Piper over her shoulder. More than anything, she wanted to move to a new place, and hopefully never have to face whoever might be after them. She had seen that white van twice since her first night out and couldn't sleep with both eyes closed. Of course she hadn't told Piper; she would deal with this on her own and do everything to keep her fiancée safe. "Plus that would mean to have quiet sex. We don't do quiet sex," Alex added after a few seconds.
Piper laughed and sat up. "True. Let's go out and grab some breakfast and take a ride and look for properties that would interest us?"
Alex sat up as well. "Or I could make us breakfast for a change. Like domestic people?" Alex suggested with a shrug.
"You don't do domestic," Piper pointed out. "And certainly not cooking."
"Believe it or not I read a few cookbook in prison. It made me wanna try to cook things." Alex shrugged again.
Piper raised an eyebrow. "Why?
"Well long story short, that was before Taystee started to work at the library. There were a bunch of geniuses trading the good books for cigarettes, so it was either that heterosexual erotic romance novel for middle-age women which the cover alone made me wanna gag."
"Well that's just wrong," Piper said with a laugh. But she still wasn't convinced a few reads on cooking would miraculously make the brunette better.
"Besides, I gotta learn the basic if someday I have to start preparing food for three." Alex stood up and put on the pair of black sweatpants that was bundled on the floor, leaving a confused Piper behind. Preparing food for three?
Piper took a long, hot shower before going downstairs. She'd turn up the heat very high, and then turn it back to lukewarm; having that much control over the temperature made her feel so happy. Added to that joy was the fact that she could take a shower without having to wear flip-flops.
Her jaw dropped when she entered the kitchen and saw a very shirtless Alex, with her glasses on top of her head, pouring delicately the pancake mix that she had made into the pan. This was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen, and yet she had traveled to places like Paris and Cambodia and Tahiti and nothing compared to that. Nothing made her knees weak or her stomach flutter the way Alex did.
Alex turned her head to Piper. "Oh hey," she smiled. "How long have you been staring?"
"Long enough that I might need another shower. A cold one this time," Piper answered and walked to Alex. "You know this is not fair right? There should be a shirt obligatory rule outside the bedroom." The blonde brought Alex into an embrace, her fingers slipping beneath the elastic band of Alex's sweatpants, slowly sliding down…
"No no no," Alex protested, wiggling the spatula in the air. "Go away I don't want these pancakes to burn."
Piper groaned. "Fine. I'm gonna make coffee."
"So do you have a place in mind you want our apartment to be?" Alex asked as she begun putting the first pancakes on a plate. She didn't know if they were any good, but they sure damn smelled amazing. She frowned when they were ripping off.
"I was thinking somewhere near central park," Piper suggested. She explained that she could go run every morning on the track and that she'd love to have a nice view on the park. She also told her that she went to the gigantic tree like Alex mentioned in her letter and promise her to go there soon together and it made Alex really happy. Alex agreed with the idea of living near central park; honestly she didn't mind, everywhere would be great for her as long as she was with Piper.
They sat down at the table with their plates and mugs. Piper took a bite under Alex's watchful gaze… she chewed…
"Wow this is good," Piper said and let the sweet taste linger on her mouth before taking another bite.
"Really?" She felt extremely vulnerable. She rarely tried new things because she knew she would always mess them up. She gave Piper a soft smile, hoping that she wasn't lying to make her feel good, and she started eating too.
Piper nodded and hummed her approval. "You should definitely cook more often."
Alex smiled again. "I will baby."
Piper put down her fork suddenly; she just couldn't get that one thing out of her mind. "Okay seriously did I imagine this or you said earlier 'prepare food for three'. Because that can only mean one thing and now I'm just confused and I thought you never wanted kids…"
Alex sighed and put her glasses on the table. "Look, last time I said that was 11 years ago and all I cared about at that time was living in the moment and making a fuck load of money. I mean, there's nothing wrong with living in the moment but I learned that it doesn't have to mean to not plan ahead," Alex explained and paused. Her voice became softer as she continued; "I know it's something that you want and that it would make you happy. Plus, I have to admit that sometimes I look at you and I can't imagine leaving this life without having created something special like this with you. The whole idea scares the fuck out of me. If it were anyone else I'd probably be like no fucking way, but with you, I want to see a little Piper running around and you being a mother. I wanna share that with you. Fuck I love you so much, and now I'm rambling, sorry."
Piper smiled and wondered how she had gotten so lucky. "It's okay baby."
"I'm not saying it's gonna happen soon, because god knows we have a fuck load of stuff to deal with… but eventually I can definitely see it happen."
"You still don't have a shirt on," Piper pointed out when they were done with breakfast and their conversation. She stood up and made her way at the other side of the table and sat on Alex's lap. The brunette grabbed the back of her thighs and pulled Piper's body so that it was pressing tightly against her, making her grind against her stomach, and she pressed slow, wet kisses on Piper's chest and breast in a way that made her go crazy. "Hmm we probably shouldn't…"
Alex ignored the protest and continued to create friction between Piper's legs. With the tip on her nose, she moved the material of Piper's shirt and bra getting in the way, and she wrapped her lips around her nipple, sucking delicately on the mound and flickering her tongue. Alex suddenly stood up, lifting the blond haired woman with her, and she put her down on the table.
"Oh god this is my mom's. The kitchen table, her table," Piper said, flustered as Alex pulled out her pants. Alex was standing in front of the table and Piper with her woman's legs on each of her body. She was grinning and didn't care whose fucking table this was; she wanted Piper now. She spread Piper's legs wider and pulled out the drenched panties, breathing in the sensuous mix of lavender body wash and arousal. It made her own arousal grow hotter, and her desire to taste Piper became overwhelming.
Alex leaned in and just as her tongue poked out of her mouth to…
The sound of a door shutting behind them and a shriek scream was heard. Piper pushed Alex and she rolled off the table, almost falling face first on the floor.
"For heaven sake Piper!" Her mother exclaimed her hands on her hips as if she had just caught a child doing something really bad. Piper searched for a piece of clothing that would quickly cover her parts and Alex darted upstairs.
Fuck.
"Mother! What the hell are you doing here you weren't supposed to come back until next week!" Piper pulled her pants up.
"My trip was cancelled. Piper Elizabeth Chapman did you just dare have. Lesbian. Sex. On my kitchen table," Her mother stammered, her voice cold and angry.
Alex came back, with a shirt on this time, and brought Piper a blanket. She wrapped Piper in the blanket and held her tight, almost as to make a statement to Mrs Chapman that she was there to protect her.
"You!" Mrs Chapman raised her voice and her finger pointed Alex. "Get out of my house!"
"We will both beleaving mother." Piper snapped and she grabbed Alex's hand and led her upstairs. If her mother couldn't tolerate Alex, Piper couldn't tolerate her.
"PIPER ELIZABETH CHAPMAN THIS CONVERSATION IS NOT OVER!"
"I can't fucking believe this," Piper said once they were in the bedroom. She pulled her suitcase from under the bed.
"Chill Piper, she kinda has a right to be mad, we were fucking on her table," came Alex's reply and it pissed Piper off. "Did you even tell her I was out of prison, or that we're engaged?"
"Do not defend her! She basically told you to fuck off and you act like you don't care!" Piper retorted as she threw her clothes in a suitcase, ignoring Alex's question because no, she had not told her.
"Because me being angry will make things any better? She already hates me Pipes," Alex pointed out calmly as she collected the few little stuff she had. "I'm in this for the long run. We're engaged. Do you not want her to be at our weddings? At thanksgiving dinners? She's your mother."
Piper was surprised by Alex's maturity, but she was too angry to reach the same level and rise above- not now at least. "Oh because you want a big wedding and family dinners now?"
Alex sighed as she walked toward Piper. She grabbed her wrist to stop her from throwing things in her bag and she pulled her into a hug. Piper relaxed into Alex's embrace. "I want you," Alex whispered softly as she run her hand up and down Piper's back. "And all that comes with you. And yes that includes your religious, uptight, drinking mother, but it's okay. It's all okay because we'll go through it together." Alex kissed her and the corner of Piper's lips curved sweetly into the kiss.
"What happened to you Alex Vause? You are becoming the adult in this relationship."
"Well don't you think it's about time I get my shit together? At least some of them," Alex replied with a shrug. "I kinda heart you kid so that helps a lot."
"I heart you too." Piper never let go of her fiancée. After a few moments, she asked, "Please don't let me become a prude, uptight, ignorant person like my mother."
"Impossible. It's proven that when eating pussies those particular traits doesn't appear." Alex joked. "Eating mine especially." She winked at Piper and bit her lips.
Piper pushed her playfully. "You just want to get laid asshole."
Alex laughed. "Oh you know you want to. May I remind you I was one inch away from your…"
"Don't say it I can't hear that word right now," Piper said, shushing her with a finger. Her sex was still throbbing from their unfinished encounter.
Piper finished packing all her stuff as Alex made a call to rent a car for a week. When the rental arrived, they left the house without even looking at Piper's mother who was sitting silently on the couch.
They filled the back of the car with Piper's stuff and drove to town. The trip was long because of the traffic, so Alex took this opportunity to explain in detail all that happened that day at Litchfield, since she had been avoiding it for the last couple days by telling Piper she didn't want to ruin the moment just yet. She told her mostly everything, even the fact that the counselor had groped her-leaving the explicit detail aside- and she also mentioned how she still didn't know the faith of Fischer or the guard. "Fucking bitch-face Figueroa wanted to make sure every inmate would keep this under wrap before the press-conference," Alex explained when Piper asked why she couldn't call or visit her. Rumors traveled fast and Twitter really got nothing on prison; someone could have gossiped to the outer world and it might not have been the truth, or the truth Figueroa wanted people to believe. Piper was so glad that Alex was fine and was grateful that what happened to Fischer hadn't happened to Alex, but needless to say she was very angry that Alex has been thrown in the SHU for no reason, again, and this time completely alone.
When they arrived in Manhattan, they drove by the apartments near Central Park and Piper called the numbers on the sign of those for sale. Her plans to get her dream home was quickly shattered when they both realized no landlord in this area would let two unemployed ex convict rent their apartments. Even if Alex had some money from her days before prison and that Piper could borrow money from her parents –she grinded her teeth at the idea—it wasn't enough.
"Sorry baby, I know how much you wanted this," Alex apologized once they were back in the car. She hated the idea that she couldn't get Piper everything she wanted that could be acquired with money. There used to be a time when it was the easiest thing in the world.
"It's okay," Piper said and offered a soft smile, but Alex could tell she was disappointed.
Alex started the engine and Piper turned on the radio. "Where to baby?"
Piper shrugged. They started to listen to the radio.
A song by Lana Del Rey was playing:
"I think we're like fire and water
I think we're like the wind and sea
You're burning up, I'm cooling down
You're up, I'm down
You're blind, I see
But I'm free
I'm freeeeeeee
I'm a Brooklyn baby
I'm a Brooklyn baby"
They looked at each other. "Brooklyn?" Piper suggested and chuckled.
Why not.
A/N: Weee another chapter! I really appreciated reading all your wonderful reviews, especially yours BatMel. Please keep writing them. This chapter was inspired by one of my favorite song "Brooklyn Baby" from Lana Del Rey's newest album. Good news: I'll be leaving to Toronto this weekend, meaning I'll have plenty of time to write during that long 9 hours drive, so hopefully I'll be back next week with a new chapter for you guys. -Shirley
