Later on I found myself sitting on the floor in my room trying to keep myself calm and not react to every single sound. Even the smallest of them. Chinook was fast asleep right next to me. I had my hand sunk in her fur looking for comfort. I heard the door to my house open and my mom yell out Scott's name.
"Stiles". I heard from who else, than my boyfriend. I couldn't let him see me like this. I was trying my hardest to keep control. Control from what? I don't even know.
"Key". I heard my mom's calm voice.
"yeah, I had one made, so.." Stiles responded innocently.
"That doesn't surprise me, scares me, but doesn't surprise me". I heard something drop to the floor which sounded eerily close to a bag full of chains. "What is that?"
"uh, school project". Stiles lied to my mother. I heard it in his heartbeat.
"Mhm, Stiles, he's okay right? He just doesn't talk to me. Not much anymore, not like he used to". I felt bad for my mom. I just wanted to run down and hug her and let her know that everything was okay.
"Well he's had a bit of a rough week". Stiles played off yet again.
"yeah, I understand, alright, well uhm, be careful tonight. Full moon".
"What?" That had caught Stiles and I both off guard.
"Uh, there's a full moon tonight. You should see how the ER gets. Brings out all the nut jobs. You know it's actually where they came up with the word, lunatic". My mom's information was a little unsettling.
She closed the front door and Stiles came up the steps. He went to Scott's room, opened the door and set the bag down. I concentrated on his heartbeat. It was the only thing keeping me calm right now. Up until the point where it jump completely and I heart Stiles yell out. Before I knew it I was up and was about to run to his aid until I heard his heart calm down and return to normal.
"Dude you scared the hell out of me. Your mom said you weren't home yet". I slowly walked over to Scott's room and saw Stiles dropping the bag at his feet.
"I came in through the window". That's when I noticed Scott sitting in the corner on his chair with a killer look.
"okay, well let's get this set up. Wait 'til you see what I bought". He started rummaging in the bag.
"I'm fine. I'm just gonna lock the door and go to bed early tonight". Scott told us.
"Sure Scott whatever you say". I told him. Stiles looked back at me and smiled.
"Yeah you got this kinda serial killer look going on in your eyes and I'm hopin it's the full moon taking effect cause it's really starting to freak me out". Stiles replied to Scott.
"I'm fine. Sam should be the one to worry about". Scott looked up at me from the chair.
"What? Sam's not the one with the murderous instinct right now. Would you just at least look in the bag and see what I got. Maybe use it, maybe don't. Sound good?"
Scott slowly got off his chair and bent over the bag. He grabbed a fistful of chains and lifted them up.
"You think I'm gonna let you put these on and chain me up like a dog?"
"Actually no". Out of nowhere Stiles grabbed Scott;s hand and cuffed him to his fernace.
"What the hell you doing?" Scott yelled at him.
"Protecting you from yourself". Stiles turned and grabbed my hand bringing me back to my room.
"Sam, we need to talk". Okay totally not the best way to start a conversation.
"It's just we, Scott and I, have been noticing different things about you. Like the way you stare off at something for the longest time, or how you skipped school the other day and then randomly show up at our lacrosse game-"
"You knew about that?" I cut him off.
"Well, you never showed up at lunch so yeah we kind of figured it out. Also, you've been very protective lately too. Don't think I don't notice the way you follow either me or Scott to places. And it's like half the time you don't even noticed what you're doing. So just tell me honestly, is there something that I should know?" I could hear Scott struggling with the cuff and yelling in the other room. The way his heartbeat was rising and how I couldn't do anything to help him. I could also hear my dog's breathing beside me and Stiles voice talking to me.
"See this is what I mean. Are you even listening to me? Sam?" He shook my shoulder a little bit and I closed my eyes.
"Stiles I don't feel so good". I felt nauseous. He looked at me with concern.
"Do I need to call the hospital or something?" I shook my head. Everything was just getting more intense by the minute and I didn't know why. I could no longer hear Scott struggling in the other room.
"No, just go check on Scott". I told him. He got up reluctantly and went to Scott's room.
"Scott you okay? Scott?" I tried to concentrate on Stiles voice. Everything felt wrong. I felt like my head was about to explode. I fell to the ground and held my head in between my hands. I heard Stiles run back to my room and rush to me.
"Hey Sam? Can you hear me? I'm calling the ambulance, just hold on a sec." I reached out and grabbed his hand.
"No, No you can't call. It'll just worry my mom. She's got enough to worry about. I don't think they can do anything about this anyways". I lay on my side still holding my head and let go of Stiles hand. Something was definitely wrong with me and I was scaring myself.
"Stiles get away from me. Get away right now!" I yelled at him.
"Sam, what's wrong?!" He backed away a little bit. I could hear the hurt in his voice. But it suddenly all left. The pain. I could finally breathe normally. I got up or at least I thought I had but everything felt different. I looked up to Stiles who was frozen in place. I cocked my head to the side and tried to tell him that I was good now. No more pain. As I opened my mouth the only noise I heard was the sound of a wolf. I surprised myself and jumped back.
Stiles crept forward slowly towards me hand reaching out. I didn't understand why. He knelt down and stayed there as though he were approaching a wild animal. I slowly moved forward towards him. I sat down in front of him and stayed there.
"Okay, Sam I don't want you to freak out and run away alright? I don't think you'll like what I'm about to tell you Sam. Maybe it'll be easier if I just show you. Here". He closed my door so I could see myself sitting in front of my long mirror.
The thing was that it wasn't me. At least it didn't look like me. In the mirror sat a beautiful white furred wolf with bright green eyes. This body didn't belong to me. I sat up and so did the creature in the mirror. I walked forward and the wolf in the mirror got closer.
'what the hell is going on?' I thought. I looked up to Stiles who held the door closed. I had to get out of here. I needed fresh air.
"Sam, just stay calm. Everything is going to be alright". He had his hands out in front of him.
No, no I couldn't stay here. I could hurt Stiles. I did the only thing that felt natural at the moment. I ran at him full speed and out of surprise he moved out of the way and left the door open. I took the opportunity to run out of it and tried to run out of the house. This was going to be harder than I thought since I couldn't exactly open the front door myself. I started pacing in front of it and scratching at it. I needed to find Scott.
Stiles stood at the top of the stairs looking down at me. I had to go in the woods but I didn't know how to get Stiles to understand. It's like I was in shock and didn't really understand the severity of my current condition. I ran back upstairs to Scott's room and went to his window putting my two front paws up to it. Looking back I seen Stiles standing in the doorway.
"Sam? What is it? Are you looking for Scott? Cause he ran off god knows where". I whined silently and looked out the window. Could I jump and survive? Can I heal like Scott? There's only one way to find out. And so I jumped. It felt like I was flying. I heard Stiles yell of protest in the back. But I didn't care because it was too late. I landed and it didn't hurt me. I was unharmed and could smell Scott's track.
"Sam wait! Wait for me!" Stiles yelled after me. I couldn't wait for him. I had to find Scott. I had to find my pack member. I started running. It felt good. Running at a fast speed. No need to stop. I howled while I ran and followed Scott's scent deep into the forest until I heard voices.
"What's happening to me?" I heard Scott's voice finally and ran to him.
"Exactly what he wants to happen". I also heard Derek's voice and kept running. I felt this need to be with them. I ran and sat next to Scott who stared at my wide eyed and in shock.
"What the, I thought there were no actual wolves in Beacon Hills. Well not like that". Scott whispered while cautiously getting up. Was he scared of me? He was a werewolf and he was scared of me. Wow. Way to be a man Scott. I rolled my eyes and was glad that I could at least still do that.
"That's not a normal wolf Scott. Can't you feel her? Don't you know who she is?" Scott stared at me and took a step forward lowering himself to my level.
"Sam?"
