Attention all former, current and new readers! This is NOT a standalone story; it is part of a faux story lineup I have written as part of a continuation of the TV series. If you have not previously read the stories, or chapters, that come before this one, I highly advise at least giving them a onceover. A list of the stories that I have written for the lineup can be found on my homepage here on this site. It lists the stories in their correct order. However, if you wish to continue, you may do so at your own discretion…you have been warned.
Danny Phantom is owned by Butch Hartman and Nickelodeon Studios. Any OCs are created and owned by me or have been used with permission by their original creators.
Kim Possible is owned by Disney.
I apologize for the long wait despite my promise to have this chapter out quickly. I was a bit hypocritical. I'm an expert procrastinator, and without an official deadline that affects grades or something, I have a tendency to push things to the last minute. It's like college all over again. Hopefully I can break that habit now that I've only got a week left of medical leave from work.
Anyway, my knee surgery went well and I can now walk just fine two weeks after the fact; still having trouble getting up and down stairs though. :(
This is by far the longest chapter I have written for this updated story so far, that may have contributed to why it took me so long to write and then post. Not including the bolded sections here and at the end, it's over 14,000 words in length. Longer than I had anticipated actually. Some content is recovered from the old story, but most of it is completely new material; also why it took so long to write. Lots of fighting, so I hope you all enjoy!
"Oh common, just one more time?" Monique asked excitingly as she leaned on a table.
"No," KP responded calmly from across the table with her eyes closed before she took a drink from a soda cup.
"Please," Monique practically begged.
"I'm not doing it again," KP answered, just as calmly before she began eating a few croutons.
"But you did it before," Monique complained.
"He wasn't looking," KP reminded her friend as she picked up a fork. "Now he's gunna be looking over his shoulder, watching out like a hawk," she said as she began eating salad from a dish.
"Who are you kidding?" Monique snorted with laughter. "He's way too focused. He'll never notice."
"He'll notice, trust me," KP said, scowling slightly from frustration.
"He's not gunna figure it out," Monique scoffed without worry. "He doesn't even know you can do it," she reminded her friend while shrugging her shoulders.
"I'm not going to abuse it," KP grumbled as she twisted her fork in her salad bowl.
"Doesn't mean you can't have a little bit of fun every now and then," Danny spoke up from KP's far left, with Jazz sitting between them, before he glanced up with a devilish smirk. He pointed his finger before it began glowing with green energy.
"Thank you for dining with Bueno Nacho, have a good evening," a nerdy kid with a nasal voice behind the food counter said to a customer. They walked away with their tray of food as he turned around and picked up a tray of nachos before he began filling it with cheese from a large dispenser. A beam of green energy came in out of nowhere and, unbeknownst to him, hit the dispenser; causing it to spray him with cheese from head to toe. "Ahh, no! I just cleaned up!" he yelled as he used his hands to keep the cheese away from his face. "First the diablo sauce, now this!?" he asked rhetorically before the cheese stopped spraying him. "This is what happens when they rush reconstruction," he growled angrily as he put his hands on his hips and glared.
KP and Jazz glared at Danny as he smirked, his finger now aimed towards the ceiling as it continued to let off a green gaseous vapor. Monique was restraining herself from bursting out in laughter in order to not draw attention to them; she even had to resort to biting her bottom lip to prevent herself from doing anything more than snickering. Ron least of all, was not too pleased.
"There is nothing the least bit funny about tampering with the cheese dispenser," he growled with an inner rage. Rufus sat on the table between him and Danny on Monique's right side; he stuffed a nacho into his mouth as he nodded in agreement. "And don't even get me started on the diablo sauce," he warned as he held up a package of the sauce.
"Alright, alright," Danny surrendered, putting his hands up. "So what happened here anyway?" he asked, looking around at the rest of the restaurant which was still under construction, or reconstruction.
"It got destroyed during an alien invasion a couple weeks ago," Monique answered as she picked up a tray of nachos and dumped them onto her plate. She was still grinning as a shadow of the previous entertainment lingered in the back of her mind.
"An alien invasion?" KM asked skeptically, sitting to her left and directly across from the other Kim.
"Don't you even go there, girl," Monique warned her. "If you can have ghosts wherever it is you come from, then we can have aliens here," she established as she pointed her finger at the table they all sat at.
"I'm not judging," KM said defensively as she put her hands up. "If I ever meet an alien though," she said with a grin as she pressed a button on her bracelet, activating only enough of her suit to produce a glove. From a small housing on her wrist suddenly appeared two sharp blades that cut through the air like butter. She then made a slicing sound with her tongue as she pretended to slit her own throat in a gore attempt to get her point across.
"Defeating them was no big really," KP admitted as she shrugged her shoulders. "The town recovered quickly."
"The Bueno Nacho Corporation had to pull a lot of strings to get this place back up and running as quickly as they did though," Ron admitted as he looked around again.
"And your friend over there believes the rush job is responsible for faulty equipment," Danny snickered, glancing back up at Ned as he mopped up the floor behind the counter.
"Equipment which wasn't faulty until you zapped it with your finger," Jazz scolded him before she went back to eating her own salad; thankfully she was right handed, so her casted left arm didn't interfere. "Hasn't Sam already scolded you about using your powers on others?" she asked him with a scowl. "You don't have to hide at home anymore, but here only a small group of people know. Eventually, people are gunna start to notice," she warned him.
"Nobody's gunna find out," Danny retaliated with a grin.
"And what about when Freakshow shows up?" KP asked him, also scoldingly. She apparently wasn't as laid back about their situation as he was. "If what you say about him is true, then people are bound to find out. Isn't that the reason you're training me in the first place?" she asked him.
"I thought you wanted to keep your powers a secret?" Danny asked her, seemingly confused.
"I do, but if this guy intends to make this a public spectacle, then I at least don't want to make myself out to be a fool," she explained as she began to grow slightly nervous. "And if this Reality Gauntlet of his can change reality, then perhaps we can use it to make people forget I have them afterwards, if we beat him," she suggested before going back to her soda.
"Whatever works for you to stay on the bright side," Danny said with a shrug before he eyed the food in front of him. "So how exactly do I eat this anyway?" he asked as he used a fork to scoop up some nachos covered in cheese.
"Put the fork down and watch the master," Ron said enthusiastically as he cracked his fingers like a pianist. "The art of a finely wrapped Naco takes skill," he said as he lifted a tray of nachos, cheese, meat and other fillings before dumping it into a taco wrap on his plate. He then grabbed the sides of the taco and lifted them, forming a bag that dripped all over his plate. "Nacho meets Taco; I call it, the Naco," he introduced, holding it up for all to see.
"I call it gross meets, ugggggh," Jazz shivered with disgust before she could finish.
"You're off your gourd if you think I'm eating this," KM gagged with an equal amount of disgust as she held up her own as it dripped cheese onto her plate; her hand back to normal with the deactivation of her suit's glove.
"Don't knock it before you try it," KP said enthusiastically as she pointed her fork at the other Kim sitting across from her.
"You mean, don't Naco it before you try it?" Ron tried to pun.
"Mhmm, Naco," Rufus squeaked as he grabbed a chunk of Ron's Naco and stuffed it in his mouth before he swallowed it whole, burping only moments later. "Excuse me," he squeaked sheepishly as he rubbed his belly.
"Yeah," Monique said before she took a large bite out of her own Naco. "Ish ashually pretty good," she said with her mouth full, cheese dripping down the sides of her mouth.
Still not feeling sure, but taking their word for it; Danny picked up his own Naco, cheese dripping down between his fingers and everything. He stared at it for a moment and gulped nervously before taking a bite out of the side. He contemplated what he was tasting as he chewed. "Wow," he said after he had swallowed.
"Disgusting yet?" Jazz groaned as she picked at her salad bowl, her appetite quickly vanishing.
"Props to you, man," he congratulated Ron with a thumbs up, completely ignoring his sister's question. "I'm definitely doing this when we get back home," he said before taking another bite.
"You are not seriously?" Jazz groaned in defeated disgust before she looked over at KM as she bravely took a bite out of her own Naco. She was almost immediately taken aback by it.
"I have tasted heaven," she practically squealed before taking another bite. "Jash, you have to try dish," she encouraged her friend while talking with a full mouth.
"Not in a million years," Jazz retaliated as if offended by the suggestion.
"Danielle is gunna love these things," Danny said as he finished off his Naco by licking his fingers.
"Danielle would eat a mud pie if you told her to," Jazz argued back, pointing out that at her age, and with her still limited life knowledge, she wouldn't give a second thought about eating it.
"I know I've never met her before, but surely your sister wouldn't be that daft?" KP asked with some concern as to the young girl's eating habits.
"Our friends, Sam and Tucker, convinced her it was chocolate pudding," Jazz grumbled as she pushed the remainder of her salad bowl away, officially having lost her appetite.
"Oh the chocolate pudding/mud pie incident," Ron sighed upon being reminded of bad memories. "Some things you just wish you could forget," he said, shaking his head as Rufus nodded his head in agreement, gagging as if trying to get some bad taste out if his mouth.
The roughly silent chuckling at the table was silenced when KP's Kimmunicator suddenly began beeping. Her eyes widened and she tossed her fork into her salad bowl before raising her wrist up so she could utilize the device on her arm. "What's the sitch, Wade?" she asked enthusiastically. Her blood was still pumping from earlier and she needed something to do.
"Nothing good," Wade admitted nervously. "Killigan's broken out of jail again, and is wreaking havoc in Paris," he explained.
"Alright, another trip to Paris!" Ron yelled out in excitement. "I love the Canadians! Hey KP, any chance we can see Gandhi's grave while we're over there?" he asked, only getting blank stares from the others. "Ok, that is creepy," he said, glancing back and forth between KP and Jazz. "They have the same look in their eyes! It's freaking me out!" he half shouted fearfully as they both just glared at him with unimpressed looks.
"Does he do it on purpose, or is he just always this stupid?" Jazz asked of KP, giving her a sideways glance.
"Anyway?" KP asked, turning back to Wade's image, ignoring Jazz's question. "I can't believe he's broken out already. Did he have help like Monkey Fist?" she asked curiously.
"I'm looking into it," Wade answered with a thumbs up. "You might wanna hurry though," he suggested. "He's blowing things up as we speak, and he's more than seven hours ahead of us already."
"Talk about pressure," Jazz commented, leaning in to see Wade's image on the device. "So, who is this Killigan guy?" she asked curiously.
"Oh just your run of the mill, rogue, golfing Scotsman," Wade answered with a shrug of his shoulders before he pressed a button on his computer's keyboard, replacing his image with one of Killigan; kilt, golf clubs and all.
"With exploding golf balls of doom!" Ron half shouted fearfully.
"Seriously?" Jazz asked as she looked at the picture of the man on the Kimmunicator. "One of your enemies is a golfer?" she asked with a cocked eyebrow, as if not believing if it were true or not.
"Hey, one of our more annoying enemies back home haunts boxes," KM reminded her as she shrugged her shoulders. "Who are we to judge?" she asked.
"Beware," Danny whispered into Jazz's ear, making her grin.
"A ghost that haunts boxes?" Monique asked skeptically. "What, like a Box Ghost or something?" she asked, still not willing to believe something so stupid.
"And what would this "Box Ghost's" name be?" KP asked, almost tauntingly.
"Sadly, that actually is his name," KM admitted shamefully.
"Fear the name," Jazz said hauntingly, deciding to play the game with her brother.
"Fear the Box Ghost," Danny said hauntingly as he waved his fingers through the air.
"Ok, I thought you were just pulling our legs," Monique said nervously as she looked back and forth between the siblings. "But you're being serious?" she asked, still hanging onto the belief that they were trying to prank them, but only by a thread by this point.
"Oh, we're dead serious," Jazz answered with a nod of sincerity, returning to her old self.
"He's more of an annoyance though really," Danny admitted with a chuckle. "Heck, Rufus could take him," he said, smirking at the rodent on the table who perked up at hearing his name being mentioned.
"Umm guys?" Wade called out to them, bringing their attention back to his image on KP's Kimmunicator. "Killigan? Paris? Havoc? No time to waste," he warned them before the device went black as he disconnected.
"I hope the Tweebs have finished the repairs on my car," KP sighed with urgency as Danny and Jazz stood up from the booth so she could get out. "Otherwise, Killigan's going to have leveled half of Paris by the time we get there."
"I wonder what his motive is?" Ron thought to himself as he stood up from the table. "You know, why go around blowing things up right after you break out of prison?" he asked hypothetically.
"He's certainly not laying low like Monkey Fist," KP responded as Jazz retook her seat. "There's gotta be another reason," she pondered as she rubbed her chin in deep thought.
"You're not going?" Danny asked of Jazz and their Kim, noticing that they weren't exactly hurrying to go anywhere.
"My arm is broken," Jazz growled. "I've had just about enough adventure for this summer," she grumbled as she rubbed the cast on her arm through her sweater.
"And I'm gunna stay behind to keep her company," KM said, excusing herself from going on the mission. She stayed behind during the Motor Ed incident because she didn't want to be anywhere near KP; but now that they'd made up and reunited with Jazz, she just wanted to be by her friend's side. "We'll probably be back at the other Kim's house when you get back," she informed him as a very likely possibility.
"Why do you plan on going?" Monique asked curiously as to why he felt he was needed on KP's missions so suddenly.
"Kim's powers," Danny answered with a shrug of his shoulders. He acted like it was common knowledge.
"I have them more under my control," KP grunted in reminding him that she wasn't as likely to phase through the ground again like the other day in New York City.
"Then consider this a test," Danny teased her as he walked by her and made for the door. "See if you can keep them fully under your control when under pressure," he challenged her.
"I'll take that challenge," KP accepted as she chased after him.
"If we're not gunna finish eating here, then can we pick up some Asian food while we're over there!?" Ron called out as he chased after them with Rufus in his hands. "Cause I'm still hungry!" he complained as he disappeared through the doors to the restaurant.
"Good luck, guys," Jazz sighed after watching them disappear through the doors.
"Oh, they'll be fine," Monique reassured them as she waved it off. "Kim's been kicking his butt for years," she informed them. "Now then, perhaps you can show me how good your aim is on the games over at the arcade?" she suggested, smirking at KM in particular, hinting that she wanted to be further amused by her own talents.
"Hope you like getting your butt kicked," KM responded with a taunting grin.
"Boo-yah," Monique cheered in a quieted tone as she slammed her fists onto the table top.
A couple hours later, it was the dead of night in Eastern Europe. Sirens and lights blared as fires and smoke rose from the streets leading up to "The Place Charles de Gaulle", a large round-about near central Paris where twelve roads came together.
"Nous avons besoin de sauvegarde!" a French police officer yelled into a walkie-talkie in desperate need of backup. He seemed quite fearful and looked on the verge of a total meltdown. "Il détruit tout! Nous ne pouvons pas le retenir plus longtemps!" he yelled into the walkie-talkie before he looked back over his shoulder.
* We need backup!
* He's destroying everything! We can't hold him back any longer!
"FORE!" a man with a Scottish accent called out before an explosion rocked the area. Smoke and dust filled the interior of "The Arc de Triomphe", a large, stone, square archway near the center of Paris. From out of the smoke stepped Duff Killigan, the Scottish golfer. "Ye Frenchmen are nothin' more than a bunch a cowards," he taunted them calmly in a Scottish accent and with a wicked grin. He reached into a pouch at his side and withdrew a simple looking golf ball. He dropped it to the ground and lifted his golf club over his head. "FORE!" he yelled out before he swung his golf club, hitting the ball with amazing speed and accuracy.
"Retraite!" the French police officer called out in horror before he and several others dove out of view just as the golf ball Killigan had hit bounced towards them and rolled underneath one of the police vehicles. It exploded, resulting in the police vehicle erupting into a massive fireball that lit up the entire area with an orange glow.
*Retreat!
Killigan continued to make his way down the street, hitting exploding golf balls into cars and buildings, causing damage for several blocks. Despite the massive damage he was causing to the famous city, he was quickly becoming bored with himself. "Oy, if I'm going to be stalling for time, I'm gunna have to find something else to keep meself occupied," he thought to himself out loud after hitting another exploding golf ball into another car parked on the side of the street. He glanced around before setting his sights on a new target. "Hello 18th Hole," he whispered with an evil grin as he rubbed the palms of his hands together. He dropped another exploding golf ball and prepared to swing. "FORE!" he called out as he swung the golf club.
Several more French police officers dove out of the way as the exploding golf ball bounced under two parked police vehicles that exploded. They had been blocking a side street, but were cleared away by the fiery explosion. They had been blocking the view of Killigan's now intended target, the Eiffel Tower. He stepped forward and advanced towards the monument.
From high above the streets of Paris, fires and plumes of smoke rose from several different places. Kim, Ron and Danny; the former two in their normal mission clothes; circled the Eiffel Tower in Kim's flying car as they watched the latest explosion, just on the other side of a bridge crossing the Seine River that led directly up to the Eiffel Tower itself. "Wow, someone sure is having a blast down there," Danny punned, though such a comment wasn't really proper considering the situation.
"He's never been this destructive before," Kim said more to herself as she thought out loud.
"You know, perhaps he was just bidding time for you to show up?" Ron suggested from the passenger seat of the flying car. "This whole thing just screams, "Come and get me"," he added onto his opinion.
"Well, he sure got it," Kim growled as she looked out the driver's side window and looked towards the ground. She gasped when she became aware of something that Danny and Ron were as of yet unaware of.
"But that would beg the question as to why he felt he needed to destroy half of Paris to get us to come here," Ron realized, contradicting his own theory.
"Surely there must be easier ways of doing that?" Danny asked him, pondering over his own thoughts. "He can't possibly expect one of us to just jump into such a dangerous situation without some sort of plan," he figured.
"Excuse me," Kim excused herself as she opened the driver's door and jumped out, falling towards the ground like a skydiver.
"Like that," Danny scowled with reluctance.
"Oh, not again!" Ron yelled as he dove into the driver's seat and tried to take control of the flying car.
"Think you can land this thing without crashing, like before?" Danny asked Ron, still scowling.
"Well sorry for not having a piloting license," Ron yelled back fearfully as he gripped the steering wheel.
He did successfully manage to level the flying car out after it had tilted onto its side, but it was still diving downward at a slight angle, straight for the top of the Eiffel Tower. Rufus had even taken to re-buckling the passenger seat's seat belt before he wrapped himself in it until he looked like a shivering cocoon.
"ARGH!" Ron screamed fearfully as the flying car smashed through a guard rail and slid across the metal decking before crashing into a thick support beam that sent vibrations throughout the car and most of the structure. Inside the car; Danny, Ron and Rufus were all in a daze after the vibrating stopped. "Well, at least we landed in one piece," Ron groaned as stars circled around his head.
On the ground, Killigan dropped a black golf ball with a skull and crossbones picture on the side at his feet. "FORE!" he called out with glee as he swung the golf club, smacking the ball directly towards one of the Eiffel Tower's legs.
High above, Kim suddenly began spinning like a top as she approached the ground. When she was almost to the ground, she turned onto her side and swung her leg out, smacking the black golf ball with her foot, sending it away before she bounced off the ground like a spring using her other leg. She did a series of back flips before landing in a crouched position, safely on the ground and uninjured; despite the fall. She looked up and grinned at Killigan; but his focus was still on the black golf ball she had kicked away.
It soared through the air before it came back down, plummeting into the Seine River behind them. A few more seconds passed before the river exploded with a tremendous plume of water that rose nearly a hundred feet into the air before it rained back down, leaving an eerie silence in its wake. Killigan glanced back at Kim, but was more shocked than annoyed by her sudden, and quite dramatically unexpected, appearance.
Back up at the top of the tower, Danny and Ron ran to the guard railing and looked over the edge. Rufus ran down Ron's arm and jumped onto the railing as he too looked over the edge, whistling as they took in the distance to the ground. "And how the heck are we supposed to get down there!?" Ron asked with frustration.
"The same way Kim did," Danny responded as he backed away from the railing.
"If you think I'm jumping off this thing, then you must be…" Ron said, almost finishing before Danny rushed by him, gripping the railing and jumped over the edge. "Suicidal," Ron groaned as he looked over the edge and watched as Danny began to descend.
While in his human form, Danny didn't have the ability to fly. Vlad could, but Danny hadn't had much practice in doing it; all he could do was hover for a few seconds. But he knew of a different way in which he could get to the bottom without hurting himself. He smirked as his eyes began glowing bright blue. He pulled back one of his hands as it began glowing with blue energy. He swung his arm down, releasing a wave of cold energy that struck one of the tower's legs, forming a sheet of ice that would allow him to slide all the way to the ground. With the curve of the tower, he turned his body in the air and placed his shoes against the ice so he practically slid down the side.
"Alright Ron, you can do this," Ron tried to calm himself. He gripped the guard railing and jumped a foot in the air before his feet hit metal and he collapsed to the platform while still gripping the railing.
On the ground, Killigan and Kim stared one another down. "So, you've taken to skydiving without a parachute?" Killigan asked her tauntingly as he dropped several, normal, golf balls to the ground. "Even for you, that's quite an undertaking, Lassie," he complimented.
"I've been taking a few lessons on how to slow down my fall," she answered tauntingly as she prepared to dodge his deadly golf balls. She of course had been referring to her flying lessons. She may not have been able to fly yet, but she was in tune with her power and energy enough that she was able to slow down her fall at the last second, allowing her to spring off the ground without hurting herself.
"Well then, let's see if those lessons have made you explosion proof too," Killigan taunted her with an evil grin as he wound up his golf club. "FORE!" he yelled out before he smacked a series of golf balls in her direction.
"I don't need lessons on how to evade your projectiles," she answered tauntingly again before she began doing a series of jumps, flips and rolls to evade one exploding golf ball after another.
Back up at the top of the tower, Rufus stood on the floor behind Ron as he took in several deep breathes. "You can do this Ron," he said calmly before he sprinted for the railing, only to stop short when he saw the distance it was to the ground. "Argh! I can't do it!" he shouted in frustration. "Rufus, why can't I jump!?" he asked his pet rodent, sounding almost desperate.
Rufus glared at him before he turned his body and pointed his paws at a series of stairs that led to the lower levels of the tower; and eventually, the ground.
"Oh, the stairs," Ron said with delight as the realization that he wouldn't have to kill himself came upon him. "Why didn't I think of them?" he asked himself. "A much better alternative than jumping to certain doom," he said as he and Rufus ran down the first flight of stairs.
Nearing the bottom of the tower, Danny leaned further back against the sheet of ice he'd made and slid right into a run when he finally came to the ground without so much as a scratch. He only stopped when he was a few yards behind Kim as she performed one more flip and roll combo before she kicked another golf ball back towards Killigan before it could explode.
A look of panic spread across his face as the golf ball bounced right back at him. Without a moment to hesitate, he wound up his club and whacked the ball high into the air where it exploded. "Phew, that was too close for comfort," he sighed with relief as he whipped sweat away from his forehead.
"I don't know what your deal is," Kim informed him after she stood back upright after regaining herself. "But enough is enough," she declared. "You were always doing things for a purpose," she reminded him. "Most of the time for personal gain, or selfish desires, and sometimes working with others towards a more common goal," she said, weighing his past issues in her hands. "But you've crossed a line tonight," she declared, this time with a bit more anger in her voice.
"Ay, Lassie. You're bout half right," Killigan acknowledged her with a grin. "Indeed, a line has been crossed," he admitted as he shrugged his shoulders. "But I'm not the one that crossed it," he informed her. "My new acquaintance wanted to get a message across to you, and a new friend of yours," he added with an evil smirk as he glanced at Danny standing a short distance behind her.
"Do tell," Kim responded as she glanced back at Danny with a cocked eyebrow. He seemed just as confused as she was, and that worried both of them just a little bit.
Back in the tower, Ron was still running down the stairs so he could get back to the ground. He huffed and he puffed for breath as he transversed from one floor to the next one down. "I hope they don't start without us," he gasped as she jumped the next two steps with Rufus hopping right behind him.
"An old foe of yours has taken a special interest in you," Killigan said, giving no indication of which one of them he was referring to. "He wants to test the boy's abilities," he added, glancing at Danny before turning his attention back to Kim. "Any old scheme would've brought you here, Lassie," he informed her. "But we needed a different approach if we had any hope of attracting him as well."
"Oh, is that all, huh?" Danny asked with a cocky grin. "A bit excessive," he admitted. "But hey, if one of Kim's enemies has taken a special interest in me and my abilities, then I'm game," he accepted with a gleam in his eyes as they began to shine green.
Back in the tower, Ron and Rufus were still descending the stairs; and they were growing more tired with each level they went down. "Hold on you guys!" he called out fearfully as he tried to motivate himself down the rest of the tower.
"Wait, so this wasn't even about me?" Kim asked in utter bewilderment as she indicated herself with her hands. "Or even the city?" she asked, indicating the city around them. "This was just to lure him here?" she furthered her initial question as she indicated Danny with her hands as he walked up beside her. She pouted and glared at him with a hint of jealousy.
"Don't seem so glum," Danny reassured her, though he still had a cocky grin. "You can't always have all the fun," he informed her. "Besides, if this wind-bag believes he's any sort of a challenge for me, then we'll be back in Middleton before nightfall," he assured her. Quite ironic considering it was well after midnight in Paris.
Back in the tower, Ron and Rufus had slowed down considerably. "Ohh!" Ron gasped for breath as he got off one landing of stairs and prepared to go down another. "I really need to work on my cardio," he sighed as he began his descent of the next set of stairs.
"So, are you prepared to show your all, Laddie?" Killigan asked the boy as he dropped a golf ball to the ground in front of himself.
"Who am I to deny you the privilege of fighting the one and only, Danny Phantom!?" Danny responded confidently as a ring of light appeared around his waist, transforming him into his ghostly persona.
Killigan's eyes widened and his jaw slackened a bit as he tilted his head to the side. "Well that's certainly a new one," he admitted with bewilderment. He stared for a few seconds before shaking his head to clear his thoughts. "Ohh, let's just get on with it then," he grunted as he lifted his golf club over his head. "FORE!" he yelled as he swung, sending the golf ball directly at Danny.
Kim's eyes bugged as she prepared to dive out of the way, but Danny never intended to jump out of the way himself. He smirked and held up his hand, catching the golf ball mere inches from his face. "Seriously dude?" he laughed as he pointed at the ball in his fingers. "A golf ball?" he asked the Scotsman before he heard a beeping noise coming from it. He looked back at the ball in his hand and saw a digital timer in the side of it. "With a countdown?" he asked Kim, glancing at her with confusion.
The only response he got out of her was a frightened frown with all of her teeth clenched tightly. She proceeded to put her fingers in her ears and closed her eyes tightly, before her entire body suddenly turned intangible. They were both enveloped in a cloud of smoke and dust as the golf ball exploded in Danny's grasp.
When the smoke cleared, Kim had returned to her natural state and was just removing her fingers from her ears. She stared at Danny with disbelief as he stood next to her with a blank stare. His white glove, face and white hair had been blackened with soot and smoke from the blast; but other than that, he wasn't harmed too badly.
"Exploding golf balls," Kim answered the questions he asked before the explosion with a nervous grin as she shrugged her shoulders, reminding him that he'd already been warned.
"Dually noted," Danny responded with a glare, though he wasn't angry with her. He was just more frustrated by the fact that he hadn't seen it coming; yet another one of his bad habits related to his poor grades in school. "At least this guy's more challenging than the biker dude," he relented, realizing that Killigan was indeed more dangerous than Motor Ed, to a degree at least.
"There's a lot more where that one came from," Killigan informed him as he dropped several more exploding golf balls on the ground. "FORE!" he yelled before he began whacking the balls in their direction.
On the ground at the base of the tower, Rufus collapsed as he reached the bottom set of stairs. Ron stumbled down the stairs as well and collapsed to the ground out of exhaustion. "You know Rufus?" he asked the rodent beside him. "Perhaps jumping over the railing wouldn't have been such a terrible idea," he admitted with a groan. He only looked up when several small explosions went off a short distance away.
Killigan laughed as he smacked golf ball after golf ball at the two teens. Kim had returned to doing backflips, rolls and other acrobatic maneuvers to evade the exploding balls. Danny had taken to diving out of the way and rolling into another position to jump out of the way of other golf balls. After rolling out of the way of another explosion, he looked up and glared at the golfing Scotsman. "Time for offense, because this is getting ridiculous," he growled.
He jumped to his feet and charged energy into his hands and fired several energy blasts, each in succession of the last. Kim was allowed to rest when the golf balls stopped falling around her. She looked up from a crouched position and watched as golf ball after golf ball was blasted with energy that dissolved them away before they could explode. She even glanced over at Killigan as he became more and more frustrated. He doubled his efforts and focused all of his fire power directly at the ghost teen, but it did him no good. He would need a different approach. Perhaps something to distract him?
"Let's see you get this one," Killigan challenged him as he paused and took time to prepare his next shot, allowing Danny a moment of rest as well. "FORE!" he called out as he swung his club in a wide curve, sending the latest golf ball high into the air where it arched overhead and came straight back down towards Danny.
"Like that's supposed to be a challenge," Danny mocked him as his eyes began glowing bright green. Two thin beams of energy shot from his eyes and merged as they simultaneously hit the ball, causing it to explode overhead.
"You can shoot them from your eyes too!?" Kim gawked with surprise as Danny gave her a smirk and a thumbs up.
"FORE!" they suddenly heard Killigan call out.
Danny's smirk turned into a gasp before he turned back to Killigan and found that he had already whacked a golf ball at him. He didn't have time to blast it; so instead, he reached out and caught it in his hand again. Before it had time to explode though, he infused his hand with energy and dissolved it away into dust and smoke.
"You know, you shouldn't say that when you're about to attack someone with an exploding golf ball," Danny taunted him as he opened his hand to reveal his palm as the dust from the dissolved golf ball blew away in the wind. "Takes away the surprise," he taunted further by smirking and cocking an eyebrow.
No one really seemed to notice, or at the very least didn't react to Ron running over to them before he stopped next to Kim and bent over to gasp for breath. "I'm here, and remind me to never again crash into the top of a building with only a flight of stairs to get down," he panted.
"Umm, Ron," Kim said with some concern. "You do know that the Eiffel Tower has elevators, right?" she asked him, almost feeling bad for him.
"Oh man," Rufus groaned from Ron's pocket as he face palmed himself.
"Please tell me you're joking, KP?" Ron asked her with a groan, frowning with disappointment at himself for not utilizing the convenience.
While Ron complained to Kim about the inconveniences of stairs in tall buildings, Danny and Killigan were about ready to go at each other's throats. "You are starting to annoy me, Laddie," Killigan growled as he tightly gripped his golf club with both hands.
"Sorry, Golfer Dude," Danny mocked him. "I didn't mean to tee you off," he punned.
"Oh, ha ha, a golfing pun," Killigan said sourly. "What are ye, a comedian?" he asked sarcastically.
"I guess a more proper introduction is in order," Danny figured. "Especially considering you're only doing this as a contract for hire," he taunted. "I'm Danny Fenton, aka, Danny Phantom," he introduced himself. "And you're supposed to be a caddie or something?" he tauntingly asked the golfer as he looked the man up and down, though he'd already been informed he was a golfer.
This only pushed Killigan's rage and anger closer to the boiling point. "I am Duff Killigan, the world's deadliest golfing Scotsman," Killigan answered with a loud growl. "And you would be wise to not insult me again," he warned the teen.
"Whoa, Tiger Woods here has one bad ego," Danny commented, glancing over his shoulder towards Kim and Ron who were slowly starting to back away from him, because they knew what was coming next.
"I don't have time to play games with you, Laddie," Killigan growled as he dropped more golf balls to the ground; apparently he had an unlimited supply hidden in the pouch at his waist. "After all, I'm here on business," he said before he began whacking more golf balls at him.
Danny grinned as he dodged the exploding golf balls by suddenly taking flight. He hovered several feet in the air as the golf balls whizzed by beneath him, harmlessly exploding out of range. "You're a terrible aim with those things," he taunted the golfer. Killigan was too irritated with him to care that he was currently hovering ten feet in the air. "Might I suggest lessons?" Danny mocked him further.
"Stop mocking me!" Killigan yelled at him before he whacked more golf balls at him.
Danny merely blasted them away with energy beams from his fingers, destroying them before they could explode. "Common, I'm just trying to help," Danny taunted as his hands let off green mist. "Now, just aim for the green," he punned mockingly, indicating the green vapor emitting from his hands.
This pushed Killigan over the edge. He was starting to fume as he shot more golf balls at the ghost boy. "WHY…CAN'T…I…HIT…YOU!" he screamed as he fired more golf balls right after another.
"Common dude, you couldn't hit a birdie," Danny mocked before he dodged a cluster of golf balls as they flew by him. "You couldn't hit an eagle!" he mocked as he dodged more golf balls. "Dude, you're seriously way over par," he mocked more golfing puns at the fuming Scotsman.
Killigan growled with fury as he reached into his pouch to retrieve more golf balls, but was startled to find that the pouch was now empty. "What!? No!" he yelled as he ruffled through the pouch and found nothing. "ARGH!" he yelled ferociously as he held his golfing club over his head. Without any more golf balls to hit, he decided to take a more hands on approach. He charged at Danny just as he descended to the ground; his smirk never wavering.
Danny crouched as he built up energy in one of his hands and utilized it to make a serrated ecto-blade that he began to spin in his hand. As Killigan drew nearer with his club ready to strike, Danny swung his own blade, catching Killigan's club as he swung at the teen. Danny then slightly twisted his blade and sliced the golfer's club clean in two. Before Killigan could register what had happened, Danny spun around and roundhouse kicked him in his chest, sending him flying backwards until he crashed into the ground.
"Ohh," Killigan groaned as he sat up in a complete daze. He grabbed his head with his hand and rubbed it. "I'm gunna be feeling that in the morning," he groaned before he lifted what remained of his club and looked at the end that had been sliced off. He was more than shocked, he was petrified beyond belief. "Hey! That cost me more than £150!" he complained before Danny flew up to him so they were face to face.
"Don't worry; I'm sure your new "acquaintance" will reimburse you from prison," Danny taunted him before he grabbed the golfer by his shirt collar and lifted him into the air. "Now it's time to send you back to the country club," he punned again before he spun the golfer in a circle and released him.
"ARGH!" Killigan screamed as he was flung through the air a great distance. He flew over a guard rail and plummeted into the Seine River below with a loud splash.
Danny, Kim and Ron ran to the edge of the river and looked over the railing as Killigan began to flail in the water. "I'd be extra careful down there," Danny called out warningly. "That water is hazardous," he punned one last golfing pun before smirking at the other two who were actually quite impressed with how well he handled the situation.
"Dude, I think you just set a new record for beating one of our enemies," Ron complimented him with a grin.
"What about when we foiled their plot at Dementor's lair a few days ago?" Kim asked him with a scowl. "He even admitted that we'd never caught him that quickly before," she reminded him as all three of them turned around, putting their backs to the river where Killigan was now being fished from the water by French Police.
"On the contrary," a man with a British accent corrected her, making all three of them look up. Danny cocked an eyebrow at the man's appearance, but Kim and Ron knew him all too well. He was dressed like a ninja and looked rather scraggy, especially his dark hair. He stood upright with his hands hidden behind his back. Notably, he looked like a cross between a man and a monkey. "You foiled our plans before we could carry them out," he reminded them. "At least Killigan put in a good game before he was taken out of the tournament," he punned on Killigan's poor performance while smirking at the teens.
"Monkey Fist!?" Kim and Ron gasped with shock. They had not been expecting him to turn up at a time like this. Rufus even gasped with fear before diving into Ron's pocket to cower in fear.
"Let me guess, you're the one that hired Killigan to test out Danny's abilities?" Kim asked him rather demandingly as she got into an offensive position, ready to attack if the need called for it.
"Again, on the contrary," Monkey Fist corrected her, still smirking. "Killigan was hired to test him, I merely came along because the boy's abilities intrigued me as well," he said glancing at Danny who was more confused than anything else. "You see, your appearance to someone else I've fought and defeated recently is quite remarkable," he informed the Ghost Powered teen. "If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought you and the girl were…twins," he hinted at Danny with a very sinister grin.
Danny's eyes widened when Monkey Fist made this connection. In spite of past performance, he picked up on the hint rather quickly. Suddenly it all came back to him; Kim, Ron and Wade had all mentioned this guy's name before. So had Jazz. He's the one that trapped her in stone. He was the one that stood against Danielle and beat her into the ground. With all of these thoughts and realizations racing through his mind, the only thing he could focus on was finding out if she was alright.
"You're the one that hurt my sisters!" he shouted angrily. Common sense was thrown away; he was being fueled by anger towards the man that would dare hurt them. "You trapped them in stone without any concern for their wellbeing!"
"I knew it was only a matter of time before someone followed that tunnel and stumbled upon the garden statue I left behind," Monkey Fist taunted with another grin. Referring to Jazz as a garden statue did not help his standing with Danny, not that he cared any. "I take it she told you about my little scrap with your sister the other day, hmm?" he asked, interested in his opinion.
"What did you do with Danielle!?" Danny seethed angrily through tightly clenched teeth, his fists balled and shaking with rage at his side. He was struggling not to charge and tackle the man; he was a powder keg and the smallest spark would set him off.
"If the Kim Possible look-alike hasn't already told you, your own look-alike has been turned into nothing more than a fossil at the bottom of a lake," Monkey Fist answered tauntingly. "Not to worry though," he reassured him as the match was lit. "As long as she stays trapped, she won't die. Perhaps she'll be found and rescued at some point in the next few million years; they might even put her in a museum," he mocked, officially lighting the fuse that would cause Danny's boiling inner rage to explode outwards.
Without warning, or concern for his own safety; Danny lunged for the man, ecto-energy built up in one of his fists. He swung at the monkey man only for his arm to be parried before Monkey Fist landed a gut wrenching blow to his gut with his other hand. Danny's eyes widened from shock. He hadn't expected a counter-attack that quickly; then again he wasn't thinking when he himself attacked.
He coughed up saliva as Monkey Fist grabbed him by his throat with the hand he used to punch him in his stomach. "My real reason for being here," Monkey Fist began to say mockingly as he held Danny up as the teen wrapped his arms around his stomach. "Is to see how much better you fare against me than she did," he challenged the teen before he spun on his feet while charging yellow energy into one of his hand-like feet.
With an explosive blow to his chest, Monkey Fist sent Danny flying backwards where he crashed into the ground, leaving a dirt trail behind him. He then proceeded to roll onto his hands and knees so he could regain himself after the devastating blow. If he was going to combat this guy, he needed to collect himself so he wasn't fighting blind. This guy was too good for that; he'd be a real challenge.
As he tried to regain his thoughts, and his breath; Kim and Ron ran to stand between their fallen friend and their own long time enemy. "You wanna get to him, then you gotta go through us first," Kim warned him as they both prepared to protect their friend.
"So the cheer squad is so delusional that they think they stand a chance against me now?" Monkey Fist mocked them with a chuckle. "Well then, let's see if the super powered teen and the side-kick can put up any sort of a fight," he accepted their challenge.
"Umm, don't you mean two super powered teens?" Ron asked as if trying to correct him. "I'm more than just a sidekick now," he reminded his enemy, but he was missing the bigger picture.
"Wait, how do you know I have super powers?" Kim asked, startled that Monkey Fist would be aware of her unique predicament.
"We've been keeping a closer eye on you than you realize," Monkey Fist informed her. "And don't think they give you an advantage," he warned her. "Just look at where it got him," he said, referring to Danny on the ground behind them.
"Umm, hey. Are you seriously forgetting about me here?" Ron asked, growing agitated at not really being acknowledged.
"Are you serious?" Monkey Fist asked with an amused chuckle. "As powerful as you may have become; Mystical Monkey Power pales in comparison to the Powers of the Yono," he stated triumphantly. "You are no real threat," he mocked the teen. "But if you intend on proving yourselves, then let's see what the two of you are made of," he challenged the super powered couple.
Kim and Ron shared glances and nodded in agreement before they began to power up. Ron's figure turned blue and began radiating with blue energy as a ring of light appeared around Kim's waist, transforming her into her ghost form. When they were both transformed and powered up, they once again prepared to defend themselves as Monkey Fist sprang into action.
He front flipped through the air, charging yellow energy in his feet as he came down upon the teens. They dove out of the way as he landed where they had been standing, releasing an explosive wave of energy that blew Danny several more feet away across the ground. The explosion had also blown Kim away as she had dove out of the explosions range, causing her to roll across the ground before she pushed herself back onto her feet.
Ron had managed to evade the explosion entirely by jumping into the air. He quickly flew back down, landing in front of Monkey Fist. They exchanged a few blows from one another, easily blocking the other. Ron soon proved that his Monkey Powers were still not to be underestimated, even by Monkey Fist, when he managed to kick Monkey Fist's feet out from underneath him.
Ron jumped back just as his adversary jumped back to his feet and smirked at the super powered teen, only to frown when Ron pulled his hands back to his side. With a loud cry, Ron thrust his hands forward, blasting Monkey Fist backwards with just the kinetic energy from thrusting his fists forward.
Monkey Fist was caught off guard by this and was sent flying backwards. Before he crashed into the ground however, he was slammed in the back by Kim now that she had recovered from the earlier explosion and was back on her feet. Danny was just now struggling to get back to his own feet after being thrown around like he had been. He fought to regain his breath in time to help the other two.
After being slammed from behind by Kim, Monkey Fist landed on the ground in a heap as both she and Ron stood on either side of him, ready to strike if he dared attack again, but they were surprised and somewhat confused when he began chuckling. "Time to light things up a bit," he punned as he stood on all fours. His hands and feet began glowing with bright yellow energy that quickly branched through the ground between the four contact points, merging into one as they began to bulge the ground beneath him.
Kim and Ron barely had time to react when the bulge of energy exploded, blasting them both backwards, causing them both to skid across the ground, leaving behind dirt trails. The resulting blast had also sent Monkey Fist high into the air, though he was far from damaged. He had used the explosive force of the energy he released to propel himself away from the explosion, escaping harm.
He descended to the ground and landed in the resulting crater, though it wasn't too deep, just as Kim and Ron were getting back to their feet. He then thrust his hands out so he was aiming at both teens and began to charge his hands with yellow energy that he soon released on his targets. Kim threw her arms up, covering her head, and instinctively produced a dome barrier that protected her from the explosion. Ron had another way of escaping the blast.
He too jumped high into the air, allowing the energy to pass below him and continue onwards where it began to arch upwards towards the sky. "HA! You missed!" he taunted Monkey Fist from high in the air.
"Not quite," Monkey Fist responded with a grin; he knew something that Ron hadn't caught onto yet.
Confused by what he meant by that, Ron turned around and looked up as the energy that he had avoided had curved up and around and was now diving back towards him. Knowing he couldn't dodge it in time, he tensed himself up and prepared to take the blast head on. His blue glow intensified and took on the shape of a monkey before the yellow blast of energy hit.
In a flash of green light resulting from the mixing of the two colors, Ron was blasted towards the ground. He had been directly over a bridge that crossed the Seine River and was blasted straight through the pavement. He plummeted into the river below as the remains of the bridge collapsed into the water as well, practically burying him in water and rubble.
"Ron!" Kim called out to him as the energy for her dome barrier dissipated into the ground, leaving her standing on a small island in the middle of a small crater carved out by the previous explosion. She began to run towards the river to help him, but was stopped in her tracks when a wave of yellow energy swept across her path. She would have run into it had she not stopped in time. She fearfully looked to her side to see Monkey Fist smirking at her with his fist aimed in her direction; it was still letting off a yellow haze.
"I'm not finished with you just yet," he warned her before he thrust his other hand forward and released another blast of explosive yellow energy.
Kim's eyes furrowed and she barred her teeth in anger before she thrust her hands out in front of herself. They began glowing with orange energy before it manifested itself into a glass shield that took the brunt of the energy. It neutralized the explosive energy, preventing it from exploding. The glass shield faded away before she jumped into the air and front flipped before landing in front of her adversary.
She jumped at him, throwing a punch only to miss when he sidestepped her. She then spun on one of her feet and kicked at him, landing her foot directly in his stomach, making his stumble back a little. While he was distracted with trying to regain his footing, she back flipped over him. He looked up as she grabbed him by his shoulders and swung her feet down, double kicking him in the back, smashing him into the ground. She then back flipped off him, landing on her hands before flipping again, landing on her feet in a crouched defensive position.
Monkey Fist swept his feet across the ground, releasing a wave of energy at her. Unable to escape the wave along a horizontal plane, she jumped into the air and utilized what power she could to hover a couple feet above the ground. With her energy focused on hovering, she was unable to defend herself from his next attack. After kicking the wave of energy at her, Monkey Fist jumped to his feet and charged more explosive energy into his hands before he thrust them at her while she hovered.
She looked at the incoming wave of explosive energy with shock and fear, and didn't know how she was going to avoid this one with all of her energy focused on keeping her airborne. She was taken by complete surprise when she was suddenly hit from the side as Danny body slammed her out of the way, placing himself in the path of the energy. Kim crashed to the ground and watched in shock and amazement at his heroism, but also feared for his safety.
Immediately after slamming her out of the way, he put up a glass barrier of his own as fast as he could, but Monkey Fist's energy struck before it had fully formed, shattering whatever had formed and continued on, making contact with Danny. "YAAAAAH!" he screamed as the explosive energy blasted him away, far away towards a series of buildings in the distance.
"Guess he's caught his second wind only to lose it again," Monkey Fist taunted before he glanced at Kim as she lay on the ground, still with a horrorstruck expression at having seen Danny being blasted away so violently. "You may go and help your sidekick," he offered her, catching her attention, though she still seemed shocked by the whole experience. "I have bigger fish to fry," he informed her as his entire body began glowing with yellow energy. He soon began hovering over the ground before he took off; flying in the direction that Danny had been blasted in.
Kim felt that Danny would be needing her assistance, but thought against it and realized that she'd need Ron as well if they were ever going to help him. She looked back towards the river where Ron had fallen and finally came to her senses. "Ron!" she called out as she jumped to her feet before she ran to find him within the rubble of the destroyed bridge.
Danny had no control as he was blasted through the air. He was being blasted backwards by the yellow energy that pushed against him, not giving him any opportunity to divert the energy away, or even get out of its path. He was along for the ride until something got in the way, and he knew it would hurt when it eventually did. He had no way of knowing where he was going or how long it would take before he crashed into something. But a large cathedral was soon looming behind him, and he was heading straight for it.
People on the ground screamed and shouted as the streak of yellow light sped by overhead like a flaming comet before it crashed into the stonework of the Notre Dame Cathedral, resulting in an explosion that rained pieces of stone, wood and metal down upon them.
Inside one of the western towers, the explosion opened a hole in the stone wall as Danny came flying through. Still unable to control his flight, he was taken by complete surprise when he slammed his back into the side of a gigantic bell, several feet across. This resulted in an explosion of noise that rang out from the bell as it swung back after being slammed into. He fell to the floor and rubbed his back from where he slammed into the bell and was taken by complete surprise again as the bell swung back, slamming into the back of his head.
"ARGH!" he screamed after the bell had struck him, resulting in it ringing out again quite loudly. The pain of being hit in the back of the head by a fifteen ton bell made his eyes water as he leaned forward, away from the bells path, and grabbed the back of his head where it began to throb. As the bell swung back again, it rang out a third time, and it was only now that he heard it ringing, and the intensity in which it rang was too much for him to bear. "ARGH!" he screamed again as he leaned forward, putting his forehead to the floor as his hands went from the back of his head to his ears so as to drown out the noise.
As the bell swung back again, ringing out for the fourth time, he opened his watering eyes and glared at the bell. He fought through the pain that still throbbed in the back of his head and got to his feet just as the bell was swinging back, ringing out for a fifth time. Its momentum was slowing, so wasn't quite as loud; but Danny put his hand to the side of it to stop it from swinging and ringing out a sixth time. Thank the ghost lords for supernatural strength.
His hand immediately began glowing with blue energy that spread across the whole bell before the entire thing froze over in a thick layer of ice, freezing it in place so that it wouldn't ring when he removed his hand and stepped away from it. "Sorry bout this old girl," he apologized to the ancient bell as he stepped away from it now that it was temporarily frozen in place. "But you hurt me a lot more than I hurt you," he informed it as if it were an animate object as he grinned while rubbing the back of his head where it was still throbbing.
Suddenly, another explosion rocked the cathedral, vibrating a few more surrounding bells that rang quietly before they settled right back down. Danny jumped back as pieces of stone were blasted his way from the explosion. He looked up to see Monkey Fist charging at him through the resulting smoke. "And I'm about to hurt you twice as much!" he hollered as he came within fighting range of the ghost teen.
He threw a punch at Danny only to miss when the ghost teen jumped back and out of range of his fist. "Not this time, Fuzz-ball!" Danny said angrily as he slid across the floor before coming to a stop next to another bell.
Monkey Fist glared daggers at the ghost teen and growled through barred teeth as he lunged for him again. The throbbing in Danny's head had subsided a little and he willed himself to keep his temper under control, and it was working. They exchanged several punches and kicks with one another, each attack missing when the other would jump and roll aside or even parried the attack with their own arms and legs. Luckily no energy attacks had been employed, so no more damage was done to the structure they were in.
The advantage was eventually given to Monkey Fist when he used one of his feet instead of his actual hands to grab Danny's arm as he threw another punch. He twisted Danny's arm and threw him to the floor before he used his other foot and pressed down on his back. He then used his hands and pinned Danny's other arm and neck to the floor, preventing him from getting up.
"You know, this position looks quite familiar to me," Monkey Fist said mockingly, though it sounded like he was talking to himself. "Just like the hold that I had your twin sister in a few days ago," he taunted the ghost teen as he struggled to free himself from Monkey Fist's grasp. "Right before I defeated her no less, I might add," he continued to taunt the boy, hoping to get him riled up again.
It didn't work as he had hoped. "And if I know her," Danny growled as he managed to shift his head enough so he could look at him over his shoulder. "She figured out how to escape this hold before that happened, right?" he asked with a taunting grin.
His taunt backfired on him. Monkey Fist seemed slightly taken back by this comment. The teen's wit was enough to unnerve him; much like Dani's had back when he was fighting her. He was slightly surprised that Danny was able to guess this, but didn't respond; though his slightly surprised expression gave it away.
"I'll bet she did something like this," Danny taunted him with a cocky grin before his entire body suddenly turned intangible, causing Monkey Fist's grasp on his neck, arms and back to vanish. His eyes widened in astonishment as his hands and feet fell right through his blue transparent body, touching the stone floor of the tower. He looked from his hands to Danny who continued to smirk up at him before he phased through the floor, vanishing from sight.
"Oh, not this trick again!" Monkey Fist growled in frustration as he stood back upright and began looking around the darkened room; the only light coming from the moon and the distant fires that had been set by Killigan earlier in the night. "I know you're still here, somewhere," Monkey Fist called out to the teen calmly as his eyes shifted from side to side.
He began to stride through the room, passing bells and support columns as he searched for the Ghost Powered teen. Danny invisibly watched from the rafters high above as Monkey Fist walked below him. He hovered above the wooden beams, his legs morphed into a ghostly tail as he slowly followed Monkey Fist's movements through the tower.
"You wouldn't have just run off," Monkey Fist continued to speak calmly as he continued to make his way through the dark room. "You're not a coward. Not like that little twin of yours," he taunted with an evil grin. "She tried running away; to save her own skin," he bluffed, hoping once again to draw Danny out in a fury.
Once again, it didn't work. "Jazz already told us what happened," Danny answered him from the darkness. Being up in the rafters allowed his voice to echo throughout the room, so it was difficult for Monkey Fist to hone in on his hiding place. "She fought hard and courageously," Danny continued, his voice echoing through the darkness. "You're the coward for trapping her in stone so she couldn't continue the fight," he called Monkey Fist out. "Your bluffing won't work on me," he declared.
Still invisibly, Danny silently flew down from the rafters and hid himself behind another large bell that Monkey Fist was just now passing by as he continued his search for the teen. He looked around the edge of the bell just as Monkey Fist came into view.
"Did she tell you about how scared and terrified the girl was when I petrified her though?" Monkey Fist asked, still tauntingly as he finally looked up towards the rafters only to find nothing above. When Danny didn't answer he continued. "She was too far away, hiding in that cave of hers, to see your twins face when I trapped her in stone," he continued. "The look of terror and confusion on her face was to die for," he continued to taunt.
With his back to the bell, he didn't notice as Danny grabbed the back of it and began to pull it back slowly so as to not make it ring before he had it in position.
"You really should have been there," Monkey Fist continued to taunt him. "To see her defeat; her demise. You could have joined her at the bottom of that little lake, you know," he informed him. "You know the old saying, "Monkey see, monkey do"," he taunted one last time before he heard a rattling coming from behind him.
"Oh yeah, well, I bet the monkey didn't see this one coming," Danny punned as he lifted the bell as high as it would go. The clapper, the metal pendulum hammer that hung inside the bell, slightly touched the edge, making it ring out.
Monkey Fist turned around in complete dismay as Danny threw the bell down. The force of him throwing the bell downwards increased its speed and velocity. Monkey Fist was caught off guard and was unable to react in time before he was hit in the chest by the side of the bell. He was sent flying backwards with enough force so that when he crashed into a stone support column, he smashed right through.
He and the broken remnants of the column slammed into the side of another bell with enough force to not only make it ring out loudly, but to actually break the bell free of the supports holding it off the floor. It crashed to the floor and was pushed back by Monkey Fist slamming into it. The bell itself slammed into the far wall, crashing through before both it and Monkey Fist plummeted towards the lower portion of the western side of the cathedral between the two towers.
The bell smashed through the roof, vibrating the entire building and sending out a shockwave of noise and debris that shattered stone and glass, leaving the Rose Window in a devastating, yet eventually repairable, condition.
Danny ran to the hole that the bell had made in the wall and looked down with worry as smoke and dust rose from down below. "Whoops," he said somewhat apologetically. "Hope that's repairable," he sighed before he looked into his hands. "I really need to keep my strength under control," he said to himself. "Ever since that power boost, my powers have gotten stronger. I need to figure out how to compensate," he reminded himself as he flexed his fingers.
He looked up when he saw movement on the other tower. It was hard to see, but with the moonlight shining down, Monkey Fist could just barely be seen climbing up the side of the other tower. He jumped onto the ledge of a window and turned around, glaring at Danny.
"Had enough yet?" Danny yelled to him mockingly as he folded his arms.
Monkey Fist didn't respond. He crouched down as his entire body began glowing with yellow energy. He threw his arms back and released the energy while at the same time jumping high into the air. The explosive energy he released blew out another hole in the tower, the force of which helped to propel him through the air, back to the original tower.
Danny jolted himself back, skidding backwards across the floor as a small amount of energy was released from his feet, sliding him backwards away from the hole in the wall just as Monkey Fist came back down and landed right where he had been standing only moments before. The two glared daggers at one another for a moment before Monkey Fist tightened his hands into fists.
"I'm not done with you just yet," he declared with an angry growl.
"To be honest, I was hoping you'd call it quits after that sneak attack," Danny admitted. "I took a bell to the back of the head; and it's still throbbing a little," he said as he rubbed the back of his head. "But you took a bell to the chest, and you barely look out of breath. You must have iron lungs or something," he figured while managing to form a weak grin.
"You are done mocking me," Monkey Fist growled, still glaring daggers at him. "Now feel the true power of the Yono!" he hollered as his body began glowing with yellow energy again.
Danny was taken by surprise again when the yellow glow suddenly began spreading outwards like tree branches. They came straight for him. He knew they weren't anything good. He'd seen what kind of destruction they were capable of when he used them against Kim and Ron. They had been smart enough to avoid them, and he would do the same. He jumped away as the branches of energy struck the ground where he'd been standing and exploded, sending stone and wood in all directions. The building shook as Danny rolled onto his feet and looked back at Monkey Fist as he prepared to fire more energy from his hands.
Taking flight, Danny morphed his legs into a spectral tail and took off, flying around bells and support columns as Monkey Fist's explosive energy followed him throughout the room. His evasive maneuvers worked in making the energy strike everything but him, but the ancient cathedral couldn't take much more damage before its structural integrity was compromised. He had to either end the fight or take it elsewhere.
He never got to decide though as Monkey Fist came rushing up beside him. He practically flew through the air as his body continued to let off branches of explosive energy that struck more bells and support columns. The building around them was rattling from the explosions, causing dust and loose stone to fall around them. The building was practically ready to collapse from their fight.
Danny's evasive maneuvers didn't hold out much longer. Monkey Fist finally managed to land a hit with one of his explosive attacks. "YAAAH!" Danny screamed as the energy struck him. His body glowed from the power of the attack, making him spasm slightly before he fell to the floor and rolled to a stop as his body let off smoke. "Ugh," he groaned as he pushed himself up onto his hands and knees.
He looked up with tired eyes as he saw Monkey Fist grab onto a rope in the rafters, swinging himself around so that he fell directly towards the teen. His feet were glowing with energy and he intended to land another devastating blow to the Ghost Powered teen. Danny barely had time to jump and roll out of the way. He dove behind a nearby bell and pressed his back against it for support as he closed his eyes tightly.
It was at that moment that Monkey Fist landed on the floor where Danny had been laying. The explosive energy was released, cracking the floor for several yards around, causing more cracks to spread outwards across the floor and walls. Several bells that hadn't been damaged or destroyed, rang out, chiming together as the building began to shake as it reached its breaking point and prepared to collapse around them.
Monkey Fist looked around in confusion as dust and stone fell around him as the building began to shake. The cracks continued to spread outwards, threatening to tear the building apart. Not wanting to get buried in rubble as the building collapsed, he began to build up energy within himself as he began glowing yellow again. He hovered over the floor as more branches of energy spread outwards. His eyes began glowing with the same intense yellow light as his body as he released the energy.
Danny had wanted to escape from the building before it collapsed, seeing as there was nothing he could do to stop it. He had begun to sprint away from the bell he'd been hiding behind, only to stop when he noticed the bright glow coming from behind the bell. Thinking Monkey Fist was about to release another blast with the intention of bringing down the cathedral, Danny decided it would be better to hunker down and ride out the explosion rather than run away. He dropped to his knees and folded his arms over his head to protect himself from falling debris as a dome of energy formed around him, further protecting him from the blast of energy he was expecting at any second.
Monkey Fist released his energy, though it wasn't explosive. As a bubble of yellow energy radiated outwards away from him, everything around was turned to stone. Bells stopped chiming as they froze in place; cracks stopped radiating outwards and up the walls; stone columns and wooden support beams were coated over in fresh stone, helping to strengthen them. An outside view of the cathedral showed an expanding bubble of yellow energy that enveloped the entire tower, changing it to a slightly different shade of gray as the entire thing was turned to stone. The energy dissipated and the tower stopped shaking as it became structurally sound once more.
A spherical dome of rock sat near the side of the tower as it finally stopped shaking. Everything was eerily quiet as Danny phased up through the stone. Luckily, he had been inside of his ecto-dome when Monkey Fist released his energy, turning the dome itself into stone, rather than its occupant; leaving him in a small hollow space that he could escape from. He had grown quite dreary and descended back to the floor, leaning against the stone dome that had protected him.
"This has got to end soon," he groaned as he stared off into nowhere before he saw a yellow glow in front of himself.
He looked up and, with little concern for himself anymore, stared blankly at Monkey Fist who sat on top of the stone dome with his energized hand in his face. "My thoughts exactly," he responded with an evil grin before he released the energy, blasting Danny backwards into the bell he'd sought shelter behind only a few minutes prior. It had been encased in stone, but the stone shattered when the teen slammed his back into it.
As the stone fell away, it rang out as the supports that held it up off the floor broke, releasing it. It fell to the newly stone covered floor with a bang that made the entire thing vibrate. Danny was too exhausted to move away from the bell as he leaned his back up against it, causing the vibrations to spread throughout his body as well.
With Danny either unable, or unwilling, to fight back; Monkey Fist approached him and stood over him, looking down on the Ghost Powered teen with a victorious grin. "I must admit, despite defeating your sister with minimal effort, you put up quite the challenge," he admitted, though he was still grinning because he knew he'd won.
They both looked dreadful; both of their clothes were torn in several places; their hair was a mess, though Monkey Fist's hair was always messy and Danny's was more so than normal. Both had cuts and bruises and were very likely exhausted from the whole ordeal.
"My new acquaintance will be most pleased with you when the right time comes," he continued to taunt the teen. "He intends to finish you off personally; so feel gracious that I'm letting you go now," he informed him.
Danny glared up at the man and growled. "What have I ever done to him?" he groaned. "I've only been here for a few days. How could I have gotten on the bad side of one of Kim's enemies?" he asked, believing that one of Kim's enemies was indeed behind the attack.
"My dear boy, whoever said that it was one of Kimberly's old foes that had taken a special interest in you?" Monkey Fist mocked him with a small chuckle.
"One of my enemies?" Danny asked in confusion before it hit him like a load of bricks, or even a massive bell to the back of his head. "You don't mean?" he asked fearfully before he dropped the question, now knowing what the answer was going to be.
"He wanted me to tell you, that if you and your new friends can't stop us, the entire world is going to come to an unfortunate end," Monkey Fist warned the teen, still smirking at him before he turned to leave. "And he also said one more thing," he pointed out, putting up his index finger before he turned to face the teen once more. "To make things more "dramatic", you've got two days to prepare before he tears this world to shreds," he warned with an evil gleam in his eyes. He laughed maniacally before he jumped over the edge of the tower, leaving Danny to take in the warning that he had been given.
A few more minutes passed in which Danny was unable to move. He even transformed back into his human form to reserve energy, though he was already drained as it was. It wasn't long before another small explosion shook the newly petrified structure. A wooden trap door that led to the lower levels of the tower had been covered with stone. It was blasted away by orange energy so Kim and Ron could ascend into the room; Ron back to normal, but Kim still in her ghost form.
"Oh man, the Cathedral is gunna have a hard time recovering from this," Kim groaned with worry as she looked around at all the damage that had been done to numerous support columns and several bells.
"Hey KP, over here!" Ron called out to her from the other side of a bell that wasn't covered in stone like all of the others.
She ran around the bell to find Ron kneeling next to a heavily beaten and battered Danny who was nearly half asleep, but he perked up when they arrived by his side. "We've got a serious problem on our hands," he groaned.
"You're telling me. Those French people are not gunna be happy about what happened up here," Ron informed him, completely missing the point entirely.
"Monkey Fist got away?" Kim asked with concern as she kneeled on his other side.
"More like let me go," Danny corrected as he cracked his neck and stretched his back. Both were sore from being slammed into so many bells. "He never intended to kill me," he informed them. "He just wanted to test me to determine my worthiness against the guy that hired him and Killigan," he informed them as he leaned forward, taking his back away from the bell.
"We've got to figure out who this guy is," Kim pondered to herself as she mentally went through a list of her enemies that would take such a drastic interest in him.
"We already know," Danny informed her. "It's the same guy that we've been preparing for these last couple of days."
"You don't mean?" Ron asked, fear growing in his eyes.
Danny nodded to confirm, making Kim and Ron gasp fearfully. "Killigan and Monkey Fist were working with Freakshow," he added to the confirmation.
"But how or why would he hook up with our enemies?" Ron asked nervously. "It doesn't make any sense."
"It makes perfect sense," Kim corrected him. "We've already proven that we can fight him, but with our enemies helping him, we stand less of a chance," she figured, her hope quickly diminishing.
"They intend to take over the planet in two days," Danny said, giving them the warning that had been given to him. "That might be enough time for us to train you a little more, but it won't be enough," he informed Kim. "If he's recruiting help, then so must we," he said, his determination starting to grow. He wasn't about to give up so easily. "If we're gunna stand any kind of a chance against him, then we have got to find Danielle!" he said with a determined glare that spoke volumes; they needed to find her now more than ever, or they were all doomed.
So there you have it. They've got two more days to prepare before Freakshow brings the house down around them. At least he's giving them a sporting chance. But with Monkey Fist as his new right hand, they will certainly need all the help they can get.
I wanted Danny's fight with Monkey Fist to seem more leveled out than the fight between him and Dani in an earlier chapter. Remember, Danny received a power boost from the accelerator, making him stronger than Dani for the moment, hence why he was able to put up a more decent fight than she was. Hopefully if there's ever a rematch, the outcome will be slightly different. ;)
There are several portions about the Paris part that are slightly inaccurate due to story demographics. Just like with "The Chase through NYC", I didn't want to get into too much detail about specific locations and such; the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame Cathedral for examples. The story was long enough without me going into too much detail about them. And I would like to thank Google Translate for the French Translations. If anyone finds a mistake in the translation, blame them.
Sadly, the next chapter will not be taking us back to Danielle. That will be the following chapter after the next (Chapter 23). Until then we will be sticking with Teams Phantom and Possible as they prepare for the inevitable fight that has been set. No more details on that; I've already spoiled you with too much info as is hinted at above. Seeing as it isn't a major chapter, I will try to get it out as fast as I can without any mistakes; but considering how long it took me to get this one out, I'm not gunna make any promises.
