Hello all! Welcome to chapter 20 of SotN. This is the first chapter where Yelene didn't beta it. I'm sorry, in advance, for any mistakes that I have made. I rushed to get this up in time for you. Anyways, this chapter is all about Glinda and Morrible. Morrible has come up with a new idea that she is dying to tell the good witch. Plus there will be a little bit of Silver and Glinda interaction. Hehe. Ok, I'll stop yapping and let you just read this chapter. Read and enjoy!
Chapter 20
'Don't worry Glinda, my sweet, I'm coming for you'
Glinda gives a sharp inhale of breath as she wakes up from her sleep. She then quickly sits up from the bed, Morrible brought her one after her little power dominance show, and looks to her left.
"Elphie?"
Disappointment floods her system when she sees the faint outline of Silver lying next to her. His ears twitch when he hears her voice and turns to look at her with a cock of the head.
"Glinda, what is it?" Silver asks. He starts to whine softly when he sees tears making their way down her cheeks. He feels horrible that there is nothing he can physically do about it. She exhales shakily while using the back of her finger to wipe away her tears before looking to her friend. A pang of disappointment hits her again when she sees his faded appearance. There is no way he can bring her any physical comfort and words alone can't help her right now.
"I had a dream about Elphaba and to wake up with her not by my side, no offense Silver. It hurts more than I can describe." The good witch answers with a thick voice while trying to keep anymore tears from falling. She sniffles slightly before she swings her legs over the edge of the bed. She blinks her eyes when Silver appears sitting before her with his head cocked to the side. She isn't use to having the Wolf just appearing out of thin air. It also serves as a constant reminder that he is dead and not physically here. Glinda squeezes her eyes tightly to stave off the memory of Silver's death, green eyes staring lifelessly at her. It's all her fault that he is dead and it's a guilt that has always weighed heavily on her.
"Glinda, we talked about this already." He speaks up as if sensing the turmoil swirling around in her head. She opens her eyes with a soft sigh. They did and it helped at that specific time but it has returned in full force. She starts to twist her wedding ring around her finger in a nervous habit.
"I know but-"
She gives a slight jump when a sharp bark comes out of his jowls. She looks at him with wide eyes. He only did that if Glinda was wallowing in self-pity for too long. It's what would get her attention the best. His ears go flat against his head.
"No buts Glinda, what I did I would do it again. You were meant to survive to usher in an era of good." He replies strongly with his tail flicking in conviction. He saw all the good Glinda is meant to do when he passed away. That's why he returned to make sure that it happened plus he wasn't ready to fully move on into the afterlife. He stills feels the need to protect his dear friend. Hopefully, he will witness the birth of Glinda's and Elphaba's unborn child. The blonde gives a slight smile at hearing this before leaning forward slightly.
"Tell me then, will I survive this encounter with Morrible?" She asks even though he won't say anything about it. Silver gives a chuckle as his ears go straight up at the question before they go to the side in a coy way.
"I can't say, Glin. Just have faith."
Blue eyes soften at hearing that saying again. He seems to like saying that because he says it in every other sentence. She maybe exaggerating on that but it feels like he does. She stops twirling her ring and stares at the emerald eyes twinkling back at her. It seems to be reiterating what Silver had just said to her. She has to have faith that everything is going as planned on the outside despite Nessa getting shot. That wasn't part of the plan. Glinda looks to him with a hard swallow. He already reassured her that Nessa didn't die from the bullet. It more so impacted her shoulder area. Though the good witch likes to hear the reassurance now and again to squish the rising fear that she didn't lose somebody else. She doesn't know if the nightmares of that day will ever go away.
"Silver….she is ok, right?"
Silver scoots closer to her before resting his head as close to the top of her lap as possible without going through her. He looks up to her with his big, emerald eyes.
"She is ok, Glin. I made sure of that before coming here." He answers before licking his muzzle. Glinda reaches up to run her fingers through his silver fur, like she used to, but stops when she remembers he is in spirit form. She closes her reaching hand then pulls it back to her side.
"I know, I know but it's nice to hear it every now and again." She replies while leaning her head back with a heavy sigh. The good witch just hopes he isn't saying this to make her feel better. Glinda gives a jump when the door to her room is opened with a force and slams against the wall. She looks to her right when she hears boot steps walking towards her. A burning hatred courses through her when she sees her former servant, and traitor, David walking towards her with a confused look on his face.
"Are you going mad?" he asks as he stops in front of her. She cocks her head to the side slightly. That is an odd question to ask her.
"What do you mean?"
He raises an eyebrow before giving a slight scoff. He starts to get closer to her, making Silver give off a soft growl along with his fur puffing out. David doesn't react to him as he is now mere inches from the pregnant woman. The tips of her fingers are now frosted at the close of proximity of him. She is read to use her magic, in case he gets any ideas.
"You talk to yourself often?" The assassin questions with is arms folding across his chest. He had to pause for a few minutes before entering the room to get Glinda because he heard her speaking through the door. It seemed like she was talking somebody but there wasn't another voice, just her own. Glinda blinks her eyes before casting her eyes towards Silver. David doesn't seem to see or hear the Wolf. Silver looks to her with a flick of the ears.
"Only you can see or hear me because I want it that way. Morrible could use her magic to spirit me away if she knew." He responds to the weird look he was receiving from his friend. Glinda gives a soft hmm before flicking her eyes back towards the impatient man. Well, she wishes Silver would have told her that sooner and would have lowered her voice. This whole place probably thinks she is nuts.
"When it convenient me." The good witch replies sarcastically. He finger tips clack together when David reaches towards her. She knows that she won't be able to escape this place but she will retaliate if anybody tries to do anything to her or her unborn child.
"I'll make it more convenient for you then. Morrible wants to talk to you." He says as he grips her upper arm in an iron grip. Glinda grunts slightly when he pulls her off the bed. He likes to play rough. If she ever gets free she can't wait to return the favor.
"This will be interesting" She mutters as she lets him pulls out of the room and into the hallway. Silver is hot on their heels with his hackles raised. He sorely wishes he was alive so he could show this man that he can't manhandle his friend. David continues to pull her down the hallway until they reach a door. He opens it up and yanks her in, earning a painful wince from the good witch.
"We are here." He calls out as he closes the door behind them just as Glinda yanks her arm out of his grip with a scowl. She catches a flash of silver out of the corner of her eye. It's Silver's way of saying he is here but in hiding so Morrible can't force him away.
"Ah, perfect." The former headmistress speaks up as she turns away from the window, which is in the room. Electricity passes through the two women as soon as their eyes connect. Glinda's lips twitch when Morrible starts to make her way over to her. She sorely wants to wipe that smirk off her face.
"What do you want, Morrible?" Glinda asks with annoyance in her voice. She really just wants to go back to her prison; at least she won't get a headache here. The former headmistress stops a few feet from her with her grey eyes never wavering from the now stormy, blue ones.
"I came up with a new plan. I thought you would like to hear it." She answers as she locks her hands together. She got this brilliant idea in the middle of the night. She couldn't wait to tell the good witch about it. Glinda rolls her eyes before putting her hands on her hips.
"Like I have a choice." She replies sarcastically. Morrible gives an evil chuckle as she unfolds her hands.
"There will be a change in the plan. I'll keep you alive for a while longer. I was thinking I'll have you come to term with your baby and once you give birth I'll take the baby, kill you, and raise the baby as my own…"
She is cut off when the good witch gives a bellow of rage at what she is hearing. Fire swirls around, forcing David to back up to a safe distance so he won't perish in the intense heat.
"You will not have my child!" She screams before she rushes the blazing fire towards a passive looking witch. Something snapped in Glinda at hearing these words being uttered to her. She will not lose this child to this conniving snake of a woman. David yanks out his pistol and aims it at Glinda's head before cocking it. He is ready to pull the trigger when the fire surrounding his boss dissipates and an amused looking Morrible stands there unharmed.
"Touch a nerve, did I?" She asks with a slight cock of the head. Glinda's chest is heaving as flames flicker of her fingers. She hasn't felt that much anger in years. She wants nothing more than to see this bitch dead at her feet.
"Shut the fuck up." The good witch yells as the fire intensifies around her hands. She is close to losing herself to the dark side she longed since suppressed. She grits her teeth when she sees those thin lips turn up into that arrogant smirk. Glinda casts a sideway glance to see the David has his finger on the trigger. She gives a slight snort. She can take him down before he even thinks about pulling the trigger.
"So Glinda will that be t-"
Morrible is cut off when a loud boom is heard then the wall behind Glinda and the assassin explodes, sending debris towards the two of them. David gets hit in the head by a chunk of rock. He hits the floor with his gun sliding across it, ending at Morrible's feet. The blonde covers her head with a surprised shriek while hoping nothing hits her. She then gives a gasp when something grabs her around the neck then pulls her flush against a warm body. She blinks her eyes as the dust finally settles in the room. Her eyes go wide and her heart starts beating wildly when she sees green flesh along with a set of determined, soulful, brown eyes staring right at her. Elphaba stands before her, still beautiful as ever with her raven locks flowing over her shoulders. The green woman takes a step over the rubble before opening her mouth.
"Unhand my wife, you fucking bitch. It's over."
Ooooh…Elphaba has come to the rescue! Yay for Elphaba coming to the rescue! I wonder what will happen next. Next chapter will start off from her point of view as to how she managed to get into that building unharmed and then it go on. Maybe there will be a Morrible/Elphaba show down. She does want some payback from what Morrible has done to her. You will have to wait until next week Friday for that! Until then!
