(All of these are from S, which might I just say, I call one of my best friend's S. S, is that you?)
Are you ever nervous for standardized tests? - Yes and no. I get freaked out sometimes when I'm thinking about how important the test is but I also know that I have good enough grades that I can fall back on them. I have a pretty good track record with standardized tests too. but standing in line for the SATs, I'm normally pretty chill.
On a scale of 1-10, what are your siblings like on a daily basis? - My sister is awesome so she's a 12 but my brother probably averages a 6-8.
Are you good at public speaking? - I mean, I feel uncomfortable just saying "yeah I'm good at public speaking." I enjoy public speaking. I've done the messages at my church a few times and just from dance and singing and being in orchestra I don't get stage fright.
Are you good with young children? - NO! I do not like kids. I don't know how to talk to kids. I. Can't. Deal. I don't want kids. I'm only having kids when I'm married for my boyfriend's sake because he wants kids...okay, but seriously I'm too much of a free-spirit for kids. I can't handle being tied down like that but I have cousins who are all in elementary school and love them to death. could I handle them on a daily basis? no. can I handle them for a couple days every few weeks? yes.
From wisegirlannabethchase: how old are Maxon and America now? - um, I've been too lazy to go and do the exact math but Maxon is about 22 and America will be turning 21 soon #winkwink
"You must ask for what you really want. Don't go back to sleep." - Rumi
America sighed and ran her hands over her dress one last time, looking at the mirror as her maids made final adjustments to her hair. She wanted to put more effort into her clothing because being dressed up made her feel more like her old self. In the mirror, she saw hands wrap slowly around her waist and she fell back into her husband's strong chest.
"You can do this," he whispered to her, his lips at the spot on her neck just behind her dangling earring.
She sighed and tilted her head back, the back of her head hitting the front of his shoulder. "Keep kissing me like that and I don't think I'll have much choice whether or not I go."
He immediately stopped and pulled away from her, making her feel cold and vulnerable. He spun her around and looked at her seriously. "They're your family; they will always love you, just like me. If our relationship can be repaired, surely your parents can forgive you."
"I just hope that they don't think I'm bribing them…"
He cut her off by shushing her. "They won't. I bet they'll accept it in a heartbeat." She rolled her eyes, knowing that he was just telling her that to soothe her. It did little. "I'm riding with Carter but as soon as you're done, come back here and we can have a relaxing night in our suite with our son, okay?"
She nodded slowly, checking her reflection one last time. They walked out of their bedroom hand-in-hand and they parted ways at the bottom of the steps where he went to the stables and she went to the music room. Down the hallway, she could already hear her family playing various musical instruments and taking advantage of their time in the palace.
She took a deep, steadying breath just outside the door. She walked in and took in the scene displayed in front of her. Her father was playing the violin as Kenna and May played a duet on the grand piano. Her mother had a song book in her lap but America doubted she really needed the words. Kota and Gerad were playing chess with Kenna's husband playing with their child nearby. After a few seconds, her family noticed her presence and immediately stopped all activity.
Kenna and Kota both offered smiles; Kenna's friendly and Kota's careful. Her father stood and cleared his throat. "I hope you don't mind that we got started without you," he greeted, gesturing to the rest of his family.
America nodded and walked further into the room, offering her most diplomatic smile. "I don't want you guys to feel the need to wait on me," she told him cordially. She groaned inwardly. This was her family; why was she feeling so awkward? "You sounded wonderful May. Your voice has definitely matured into something beautiful."
May bowed her head and blushed. "Thanks," she mumbled. She seemed so much older. Where had the time gone?
"I asked you all to come here because we are in desperate need of a Singer family meeting," she announced, joining the circle they had automatically formed in their seats. "I need to apologize to you all. The way I've treated you these past couple years…it's unforgivable. I completely ignored you all and I was wrong. At the time I was just using the excuse that I was overwhelmed as it was and I didn't want to entertain my family but now I realize that you all actually could have helped me relax. I want to mend my relationship with you all and in doing so, I would like you guys to move here to the palace."
Her mother sat back and started fanning herself dramatically. Her father was definitely taken aback but was the first to recover. "To live America?"
"Yes," she said, nodding. "To live with Maxon and I and our children."
Kenna looked at her with teary eyes. "Mer, that's too much."
"I insist Kenna. We have world-class services for your daughter and plenty of people to watch him if you two ever want alone time. May, we have the best instruments you could find anywhere and tutors to teach you how to play them. Gerad, you'd love our sports rooms. I want you all close to me so we can reconnect."
Mrs. Singer sighed, putting a hand to her chest. "You're bribing us but you know we can't refuse…" she shook her head, unable to keep talking.
"Mom, I've missed you so much. And Maxon thinks of you guys as his family. We both think this is the best thing for all of us. With Kenna and I starting families, it will be difficult for us to travel but if you guys live here there'd be no need."
Her father started laughing. "Why are you still trying to convince us?" he asked, smiling at her.
America frowned, not understanding. "What?"
"America, I think I speak for all of us when I say that yes, the offer is later than we would like but we would love to live here with you." He stood and hugged her, gripping her shoulders tight.
"I love you Dad," she whispered, her eyes getting blurry.
He pulled back, too soon, and smiled at her. "I guess we have some packing to do."
"I can send people to help…" she quickly offered.
He cut her off. "We appreciate that honey, but I think this is something we need to do as a family. What do you say we leave in the morning and pack up our things at home and then come back at the end of the week? We need time to say our goodbyes."
She nodded, seeing what he was talking about. She relaxed with her family until late that night. May and Gerad went to bed and Kenna's husband took their daughter to bed. Soon enough, it was just America, Kota and Kenna hanging out with each other and having fun.
Around eleven, Maxon poked his head inside the room and grinned at them. "I thought I'd find you here," he said, digging his hands into his pockets as he walked in. He was still wearing his riding clothes which were extremely flattering on him. America's heart fluttered when she looked at him crossing the room in confident strides. He bent down to kiss her head gently and rested a hand on top of her head. "I hate to tear you away, but we do have a lot to do tomorrow," he reminded her.
She frowned. "What are we doing?" He raised her eyebrows at her and she suddenly remembered. They had a scheduled meeting with the Masons to discuss the changes they'd be implementing for the country in the coming months. "Right. Good night guys. I'll see you in the morning." Kota and Kenna waved as Maxon escorted her out.
They locked hands once they were out in the hallway and walked that way up to their suites. "Don't worry, I got Christian in bed," he told her.
She nodded. "Thank you. I completely lost track of time. I was just having so much fun with my brother and sister."
"I know," he said. "And I know how much you needed tonight."
"You know a lot of things that I don't even know," she informed him.
He smirked. "You're the same way."
"No duh," she laughed, suddenly stopping. She pushed him up against the wall gently and stopped with her face just inches from his. "Like, I know you're dying to kiss me right now." She ran a hand down his inner arm, a spot she knew was sensitive on her husband.
"You may be right," he whispered in a husky voice, dipping his head toward hers.
At the last second she flitted away, skipping down the hallway. "You have to do better than that Mr. Schreave," she teased, floating through their door.
She changed in her closet quickly and then joined her husband in their big bed. They kissed passionately, his hands running over her hips and down her legs. They were well on their way to a steamy session of lovemaking when she heard a small voice from behind her.
"Mommy," Christian mumbled. She turned quickly and saw her son standing next to the bed. She blushed and flicked Maxon's hands away from her chest.
She pulled the covers up as she readjusted her nightgown. "What's up honey?"
"I had a nightmare. Can I sleep with you guys?" he asked sleepily.
She sighed and nodded, letting him climb over her and snuggle down between her and Maxon. She faced the two most important men in her life, lying on her side. Maxon reached his arm over and she rested her head on his forearm. "Good night Mommy and Daddy," Christian said quietly.
"Good night son," Maxon whispered back, kissing Christian's blonde curls. He winked at America and mouthed a quick 'I love you' before shutting his own eyes and resting his head just above his son's.
