Band of Brothers
Outside Leon's House…
"I thought you said Leon told you to release him?" Tobias asked Tony as they reached for their guns and aimed it Billy who was exiting the car.
"Yeah, but I think he knows more than he's telling us." Tony replied.
Exiting the car Billy looked at Director Vance's home. "I need to tell you something before we go in." He said calmly to the men who were pointing their guns at him.
McGee stood next to him. "About what?"
Looking at Tim, Billy place his hand his shoulder. "I need you to tell your friends to put their guns away."
"And why are we going to that?" Fornell asked.
"Because, I asked you to and because it will better for him." Billy replied.
Tony narrowed his eyes. "Leon never had a problem with guns before."
"It's not Leon I'm worried about. Just put them away okay? I promise I won't run I won't do anything, I just want to keep him safe and calm." Billy told them as he walked up to Tony who was still pointing his gun at him.
"There's no way I'm lowering my gun." Fornell replied.
Looking into Tony's eyes Billy plead with him. "Anthony, I promise you I won't do anything. I just need you to put your guns away while you're in there… you can handcuff me if it makes you feel better but I need you all to put your guns away."
"Why should we do that?" Tony whispered.
"I know you don't trust me after I lied to you but you have to trust me and put your guns away." Billy turned his attention to Tobias who still had his gun drawn. "That means you too, Toby."
Tim stood next to Billy. "Guys, I think we should do as he says." He said quietly.
Tony looked at Tim and then back to the man standing in front of him. "I'll do it if you answer me one question."
"I'll answer it if you put your guns away and holster them." Billy replied as he looked at both Tony and Fornell.
Tony nodded.
"Ask away." Billy said quietly.
Lowering his gun Tony took a breath. "Who is Leon with?"
Billy looked at Fornell who still has gun drawn.
"Fornell, put it away." Tony told him.
"Are you sure?" Fornell asked as he fought with what he wanted to do and with what he was told.
"Put it away." Tony replied.
Hesitantly, Tobias put his gun away and holstered it.
Looking at the three men Billy took a deep breath. "When we get in there I don't want no sudden movements and no loud outbursts of any kind."
"Why?" McGee asked.
"Just stay calm and I know this is going to be overwhelming for you all but try and stay calm." Billy replied as he walked toward Leon's house.
Tony watched him reach the front door and trotted after him along with Tobias and Tim.
"I asked you a question, who is Leon with?" Tony said as he gripped the door knob keeping Billy from opening it.
Billy looked at him and to the men who join them at the door. "… A friend"
Without saying another word Billy entered the house while the men slowly followed him.
The sound of footsteps entering and then getting closer made Gibbs take a deep breath knowing that he was about to meet the people he thought he wouldn't ever see again. Pushing his fear away he prepared himself for the moment he saw his friends that had done so much for him in his absence.
Leon quietly watched as Billy entered giving Gibbs and assuring smile before standing aside to let Tobias, Tim and Tony enter.
"This better not be one of your damn tricks because if it is I'm going to kick your-" Tobias could no longer speak the moment he saw a familiar friend looking at him.
His heart racing and his mind screaming at him to wake up Fornell stood frozen while Tim entered behind him, unaware of who was in the next room.
"Excuse me." Tim said as he brushed by Tobias.
The FBI agent said nothing while he stood like a statue.
"Are you okay, Fornell?" McGee asked not noticing the person Fornell was still staring at.
McGee followed his gaze until he saw those blue eyes looking back him. The breath caught in his throat and just like Tobias he was unable to move.
"Geez, what is wrong with you two?" Tony asked as he pushed through his friends and looked at who they were both staring at.
His mind, his breathing and movement all came to a screeching halt the moment he saw the last person he ever expected to see again. He had said his final goodbye only days ago and now he was nearly face to face with the one person he had told himself he would never see again. Tony had endured the lost of his brother, his friend and his hero but now he was shaken to depths of his soul and reminded of just how much the person in front of him really meant to him… to all of them.
Not wanting to go another second without him Tony took an audible breath while his tears became visible just like the ones that were pooling in Gibbs eyes.
No words could describe what they were all feeling and to be honest they couldn't speak even if they wanted to. As Tony's tears streamed down his face he was the first to step toward Gibbs who fought the urge to retreat. Being without his friends for so long and going through what he had gone through he was nervous about being around people but this family and he knew his family would never hurt him.
Closing the distance between them Tony smiled up at him with 'I missed you' at the tip of his tongue but there was no need utter those words because the half smile Gibbs returned to him told him he didn't need to say it, he already knew it.
Four years of feeling lost, alone and sad came flooding back for them both and it surged through them the moment Tony hugged him. This embrace reminded them both of what they had gone through but most of all it told them that everything would be okay, maybe not now but eventually normal would return.
Clinging onto his friend Tony sniffed back the tears that continued to flow that caused Gibbs to pull him tighter into their embrace. They had never hugged before but this was different this wasn't just a hug to show just how much they missed each other but it was a hug to feel the other person breath in their arms to know for sure that this was real.
Leon smiled at the moment while Tim rushed over to his friends and hugged them both while his own tears fell. Wrapping arm around Tim, Gibbs pulled him in to this rare hug that they shared.
"Ah – hell." Tobias muttered as he walked over to guys and hugged them too.
Seeing the smile on Gibbs face when Tobias joined them Billy turned to Leon.
"Having his brothers back will help him with what he's going through."
Smiling Leon looked at the band of brothers who shared perhaps their first and last group hug ever and nodded.
"Yeah, but it's not us who will bring back the Gibbs we all knew." Leon replied knowing that though they would help him there were two other people that would need to be present in his life to find himself again, and that was Jack and Abby.
