Healing Takes Time

Chapter 19 Part 2

Third Person

Damon and May were on their way home from college. They decided that they would come back for the weekend to visit their parents and sister. Damon was anxious to see his little sister. He loved to pick on her; it was his job after all, he is her older brother. Damon and Rachel have always been close maybe not as close as him and May, but that didn't mean that he loved her any less. Rachel was his sister and he would always love and protect her no matter what.

On the other hand he wasn't very happy about seeing his fathers. His fathers have never really been the loving type, they knew that their parents adopted them in hopes of fixing their marriage, and although their fathers love them they were still very distant. He knew that Rachel was basically on her own at the house, but he didn't know to what extent and that made him very nervous. While their fathers always went away for the summer, the past few years have been very different. Usually they knew when their fathers were leaving, but now it's like they just up and leave without warning. It has been a few years since they have seen their parents, because every time they are home Leroy and Hiram are away on business or on vacation. Damon looked over at May and noticed a peaceful look on her face.

May has been really stressed out lately because of school and having to work. May was glad to be away from school and was actually contemplating moving back to Lima and finish school here. May wanted to be around her sister, but she always loved the feeling she got every time she was home. When she was in Lima she felt this sense of belonging that she didn't feel at college. May attended Harvard Law School and she loved it there, but it was so competitive. At Harvard it was sink or swim and if you did one thing wrong the sharks would eat you alive, and May hated that about the school.

Rachel was so care free when May was around that she loved it. Rachel gave May so much hope, and it was Rachel who convinced May to follow her dreams and go to law school. May would always appreciate Rachel for doing that. She couldn't picture a life without Rachel in it, Rachel did so much for her that if something happened to Rachel it would destroyed her.

When May and Damon pulled into the driveway of their family home they got a vibe that something was wrong. It was too quiet and neither of them liked it. The gate leading to the backyard was open and their parents' cars were nowhere to be found. They both found that really odd considering their parents were always home on the weekends during the school year. That was another reason why they decided to come home was to see their parents. When they come home for the summer their fathers are always away on vacation.

The feeling intensified as they got out of their car and started to make their way toward the house. "May stay out here I'm going to check inside," Damon said turning toward May before quietly making his way into the house. When he got in the house he could hear voices coming from upstairs, but he was unable to make them out.

As he continued to make his way toward the voices, they began to get louder and he could make out a little bit of what was going on. Damon could make out that one of the voices was a male and he seemed to be very angry. The other voice was female, but he couldn't make out any of what she was saying because they sounded muffled as if there was a hand against her mouth. Damon knew that the female voice had to be Rachel, and he became very angry at the thought of someone hurting his sister. He charged into and when he did the sight he saw he wished he never had.

May was standing outside of the house when she heard a large crash come from within it. She didn't think as she took off for the house. She had no idea what had occurred, but if someone was trying to hurt her family she wanted to stop the person who did. As May made her way into the house she saw a large figure make his way out of the kitchen door. She didn't think of following after him she was too worried about her brother and sister. May took the two at a time as she made her way to her sister's room.

May knew that something was wrong. She knew she never should have left Rachel by herself all along. Rachel and Damon may not know this, but May knew that their fathers had abandoned them. May didn't want Rachel knowing that she knew, because Rachel was always so independent and didn't want any help even if she needed it. May knew she should have come home when she discovered that her fathers had left, but she knew Rachel would try to convince to just go back to school. Looking back now May realized how big a mistake she made.

Rachel awoke the next morning, and the first thing she noticed was how unusually quiet the house was. Aunt Sue usually went out on Saturday's, so it was always quiet, but this was an unnaturally and unsettling quiet that just overwhelmed Rachel. Rachel picked up her phone and noticed a text from Noah.

Hey Rachel I will be over at 12 have 2 babysit Sarah

-Puckster

Rachel immediately responded with an "okay see you soon" before getting ready for the day to begin. She quickly got ready and made her way downstairs for breakfast. As Rachel walked into the kitchen she noticed that the back door was slightly ajar. She just closed the door assuming that Aunt Sue had accidently left it open when she left. Rachel pulled out her favorite cereal and some milk so she could make herself some breakfast.

As Rachel ate breakfast she thought back to the conversation she had with Shelby the previous night. She had a great time with Shelby and didn't regret letting her in for the second time. She thought about what Shelby's family was like and how anxious she was to meet them. Rachel had believed that Shelby didn't want her for so long, now she was back and she couldn't be happier.

When her fathers left Rachel was devastated she was all alone and had resorted to hurting herself because she no longer had someone to tell her they cared. She believed that no one could ever love her, and then Brittany came into her life and things slowly started to get better. Finding out Santana was her sister was the best thing ever. Sure she had Damon and May but they were hardly ever at home, because they were at college. Even when they were home she was always the odd ball out. Damon and May are twins so they have this connection that she just doesn't have with them, but she does have that relationship with Santana. Santana makes her feel so special and she always knows how Rachel is feeling. Rachel was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice that she had already finished her breakfast. She quickly put her cup in the sink and made her way up to her room.

As she made her way up the stairs Rachel she began to feel as if something was out of place. This was the second time today that she has gotten this feeling and she didn't like it one bit. Rachel always felt safe in her own home, but today she was terrified that something would pop out at her. Once she made it to her room she began to call down, but that didn't last long as she heard footsteps behind her. She held in breathe not knowing who it could be.

"Hello Rachel," the voice belonging to the footsteps she heard said sending shivers down her spine.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE TIME OR WANT TO

Here is part 2 of chapter 19. I really hoped you liked it. Sorry for taking so long to update it. I ended up re-writing the chapter four times, because I couldn't figure out how I wanted to go about it. I have also decided that chapter 19 is going to have four parts so there are still 2 more parts left in this chapter to cover everything that I want to cover. So here is the entrance of Rachel's older brother and sister. Please review and tell me what you think I would really like to hear your feedback on this chapter and how you would like to see the other two parts of the chapter develop.
