- ( JUSTIN'S ROYAL ESTATE, AROUND MIDNIGHT ) -
While Justin and Brooke slept peacefully inside the house, Princess Luna was sitting all by herself by the world gate, her wings folded behind her, lost in thought over something Justin had said Katie told him in his dream.
"THAT MAN IS CONNECTED TO YOUR LOST PAST."
Justin had no memories of himself since before he was Age 4. Could that be what she was hinting toward? She knew Justin was still struggling to uncover the truth behind why he had forgotten his early childhood, but to think this man knew more about Justin then even Soulhunter himself knew... it was frighting. Luna sighed, and let out a low yawn.
That got her wondering about something else. How did Katie know that man was connected to Justin's past? And how did she know about the Magic Stones? These were just a couple of the questions that were running a mile a minute through Luna's mind. She put a hand to her forehead and sighed, looking up at the night sky.
"Why? Why is this happening? Everything was fine until that day Brooke came to us and told us her friends had been killed." She whispered to herself. She was still in utter shock over the magnitude of it all. First, Brooke came to them and said Kyle had attacked Rebecca's birthday party. Then, Justin had gone to see the extent of the damage he had done, and was met with the disastrous results of Kyle's assault. After that, Kyle attacked Chelsea's castle, and everyone but Chelsea managed to escape. After that, he nearly crushed Justin under Lord Nightshade's tower. Then, in a stunning move, he attacked Ravenwood itself, and left many innocent people dead, Chelsea badly wounded and barely clinging to her life. And then that assault on Marlybone yesterday...
Luna forced herself to stop there. She didn't want to think about all the bad Kyle had brought upon them. Instead, she decided to think about the one good thing that came out of all this:
Justin's new found relationship with his new beloved Brooke.
'Well, this hasn't been completely terrible. At least SOMETHING came out of all this.' Luna thought, smiling slightly. At least Justin would have a beautiful girlfriend to look forward to seeing after his quest is over... provided Kyle doesn't murder her, that is.
"Luna? What are you doing out here all by yourself?" A voice asked from behind her. Luna gasped, hey eyes widening. She quickly turned around and was met with the ghost of Katie IceShield. She calmed down right away when she saw it was nothing that would cause her harm.
"Oh. Hi, Katie. I was just thinking about Justin's adventure so far. I wonder why Kyle wants to take over the Spiral. And why is he going to such extreme lengths to do it?" Luna said to the ghost, and sniffed. She felt so terribly sad for everybody who had lost their lives to Kyle Greenbreeze in such a short time. It seemed like a very horrid nightmare in Luna's eyes every time she thought about it. Katie frowned, then floated down to sit next to Luna.
"He's angry about being expelled from Ravenwood. We wants revenge. At all costs." She said to the little fairy, who looked up at her with questioning eyes.
"How do you know all this? About Kyle's connection to Justin's past and about the Magic Stones and everything?" She asked, which made Katie giggle.
"I know a lot of things. Two years is a lot of time to gather knowledge." She explained, which made the fairy smile in return. Katie then gazed out into the night sky. "I really did love Justin. But I knew I couldn't remain with him. It broke my heart having to leave him. But... there was nothing I could do about it." She said, a single tear falling from her eye. Luna frowned.
"Justin thinks about you every day. Always has been, and maybe always will." The fairy said.
"Well, I'm touched he hasn't forgotten about me. And I'm more then glad he has found a new girl to cherish, love and protect. But I still fear for his life. I wish he would have stayed in that frozen sleep longer." Katie replied, which made Luna gaze at her with suspicion.
"What do you mean?" Luna asked. Katie looked over at her and took a long breath.
"Kyle is looking for Justin. He means to get revenge against him." She explained. Luna's eyes widened.
"Huh? REVENGE!? Why!?" She asked in a high voice, before Katie put a finger to the fairy's mouth and a finger to her own, shushing her. She then pointed to the house.
"I don't think Justin will be very happy if we wake him or Brooke up. Try to keep your voice down." She said in a whisper, before lowering her hands to the grass. Luna nodded to her. "I can't tell you why Kyle is after Justin. Not yet. He is not yet ready to accept it. When the time is right, I will tell both him and you. But until then, just remember Kyle is after him and he is in grave danger." She further explained. Luna nodded. She had learned from Justin it was pointless to argue with Katie, she won every time.
"OK. But don't worry. We've already got three of the seven Magic Stones! We just need four more, and we'll be good to go!" Luna said happily. Katie smiled slightly.
"That's wonderful. Perhaps Justin does have the strength to stop Kyle after all. But he'll need plenty of help." The ghost replied. Luna shrugged.
"We got Matthew, Connor, and Chelsea to help us, although Chelsea is kind of... out of action right now. She got hurt really bad during the Ravenwood attack." The fairy explained.
"Well, at least Justin has some help. That's better then nothing. But I still worry for his well-being. If he isn't careful, he'll end up getting himself killed. Then nobody can save the Spiral from certain doom." She said. Luna frowned at that, but nodded anyway. Then, Katie flew up from her perch on the ground and started toward the world gate. "I'm sorry, but I have to leave you now. Please keep an eye on Justin for me. If anything happens to him..." She didn't want to finish that sentence. But Luna nodded in understanding anyway. She knew what would happen if Justin failed in his quest to recover the Magic Stones.
"Goodbye, Katie!" Luna called, and waved to her, as Katie disappeared into the World Gate. She lowered her hand and sighed. "I wish I could figure out why Justin is in so much danger. Maybe if we knew his quest would become easier." She said to herself, before yawning. She didn't realize how sleepy she was. So, she decided to start for the house. She fluttered up and flew back over to the open bedroom window, landing on the windowsill to look at Justin and Brooke. Justin was back in his blue robe now, his Winterbane armor tucked away into the trunk at the foot of his bed for tomorrow. Brooke was sound asleep as well, her wand and hat sitting on her bedside table, her boots sitting beside the bed. She had the happiest smile on her face while she slept, which told Luna she was having a very wonderful dream. Luna giggled quietly at the two, before fluttering up and flying over to red sofa where the fake snow continued to fall, and lying her head down on the cushion. It only took one last look at the pair of wizards sleeping near her before she fell asleep. She could wait until morning to tel Justin what Katie had told her.
- ( THE HEADMASTERS OFFICE ) -
Headmaster Ambrose was busy sorting through some last-minute paperwork that night, lost in thought over what Justin had told him about his trip to Marlybone. He still couldn't believe that Kyle had the nerve to attack an ENTIRE world, or that it had been Kyle all along that had been causing so much trouble for everybody. Kyle, who had destroyed two castles full of students, attacked the Ravenwood girls dorms, or assaulted the entirety of Marlybone at once!
But of course, he had to remind himself that this was no ordinary person they were dealing with. Kyle had been crazy since he was 14 years old. It only make sense his insanity continue to this day, and that it was more then likely one of the driving forces that were behind his behavior. It was crystal clear to Ambrose.
"Oh, Kyle. Where did your parents go wrong with raising you?" He wondered to himself, before setting down the stack of paperwork he had been carrying from the bookshelf on his desk. He let out a yawn as soon as the paper touched the desk. He hated having to stay up so late to deal with this stuff, but ever since all these attacks on Ravenwood had started up, he had been snowed under with letters from the students parents, paperwork declaring Wizard City to be a disaster area, and ( surprisingly enough ) consolation mail from the headmistress of Wysteria, stating her deep sorrow for Ravenwood's suffering, and informing him that they've been having their fair share of Kyle problems to. Ambrose shook his head sadly. It seemed that dark man was creating trouble everywhere. He could only imagine how much pain and suffering was going on in MooShu and other such worlds Justin had not yet given time to visit.
"Oh, I hope we can be rid of that Greenbreeze soon. Otherwise the Spiral will be in even bigger danger then when Malistaire was around." He said to himself, grim faced.
- ( RAVENWOOD, THE LIFE SCHOOL ) -
Professor Moolinda was standing over Chelsea, who lay unmoving atop the professors desk. She had tried many of her best healing spells, but nothing seemed to be working. Moolinda looked very worried about the poor young girl.
"Kyle must have put a curse on her. Poor thing." She said, giving poor young Chelsea the saddest frown anybody had ever seen her do. "I better tell the headmaster." She said, before making a chirping sort of noise to call a small green fairy over. She quickly wrote a small note to the headmaster, then gave it to the fairy and sent her on her way. She looked back over at Chelsea again, before a knocking on her door caught her attention. She walked over and opened it, and was surprised to see Matthew, of all people, standing there.
"How is she?" He asked. Moolinda knew right away who Matthew was talking about. She looked back over at her desk and frowned, looking back at him.
"Not good. I think that evil man put a curse on her. I can't nurse her back to health, and I've used all my best spells." She said sadly. Matthew felt like someone had hit him in the gut with a Storm Blast. He frowned at the professor.
"Not exactly the answer I was hoping for. Any idea what we can do to help her?" He asked. She sighed.
"I'm not sure. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to be sure." She told him. He nodded sadly, then turned and walked away. She closed the door, then went back over to the desk where Chelsea was still lying unmoving. She let a single tear drop fall from her eye.
"Exactly how much pain and suffering is that man going to inflict on everybody before Justin stops him?" She wondered to herself, still unsure how anybody could be so cruel to such a innocent young soul. Then again, he had murdered over 600 people in the past 48 hours, so this seemed only minor compared to all the damage he had really inflicted.
She then walked over and gazed out the open window. She shook her head slightly to herself, still frowning. She was hoping Justin could get the rest of the Magic Stones and stop Kyle, before he could make any more innocent people suffer the way Chelsea was suffering right now. After all, Kyle still had plenty of worlds to destroy before Justin's quest was over.
