Chapter 22: Into The Chamber

They sprinted to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, hauling Lockhart behind them. Percy slammed the door open.

"Myrtle. How did you die, where did you die and what did you see? A huge eye perhaps?"

Nico shot him a look that clearly said "way to be sensitive".

Myrtle burst into tears.

"I-I- so.. insensitive!" she wailed.

"Myrtle. Answer the questions, please," Nico said calmly.

"Oh, of course!" she stopped crying and batted her eyelashes. Ron and Harry gaped. Nico sighed and ran a hand through his hair. They would have to tell the Golden Trio after the mission. There was no other choice. He turned his attention back to the ghost.

"So I was sitting in the toilets one day, crying, because Olive Hornby was teasing me about my glasses. Suddenly I heard someone come in. They spoke- in a different language, probably a made up one. But it was a boy's voice, so I went outside to tell him that he wasn't allowed in here. But when I opened the door, there was a yellow-green eye right by this sink-" she tapped one "-and then... I died."

"Thanks Myrtle, we appreciate it," Nico said. He turned to hs sister with a questioning look.

"There's a chamber right under this sink. It leads down, thousands of miles under the school. Then there's a huge chamber thing, with loads of passages and tunnels," Hazel confirmed.

"What is wrong with you people?" Harry yelled suddenly, "Why are you so different?! How do you know stuff like that?"

Frank sighed. "We swear to tell you when this is over."

"Okay then," Harry said suspiciously.

Harry examined the sink Myrtle had pointed at. On closer inspection, he saw that there was a snake engraved on one of the taps. He locked eyes with Frank (who he trusted most of the exchanges) and they nodded.

"Open." they hissed together.

There was a click. Just then there was a huge rumble as a massive hole opened in the middle of the bathroom.

"Okay," said Hazel, "I'll go first with Frank."

And the couple slid down easily, the tunnel adapting to their comfort.

"So then how about I-"

Harry was cut off by a huge wave of water that came out of nowhere. It sailed over his head to slam into Lockhart.

"Oh no you don't." Percy growled.

Lockhart trembled. By the looks of it, the coward had come dangerously close to escaping.

"You next."

Lockhart was too scared to argue.

"Now that that git's gone, how about I go," Percy said, and he slid down.

One by one, the students left until Nico was alone with Myrtle.

"I would like to come, master," Myrtle said abruptly.

Nico looked slightly taken aback. "Why?"

"Revenge." Myrtle said, drawing the one word out.

Nico smiled half-heartedly.

"I'm afaraid you can't. But I have a feeling that Percy's gonna beat up that basilisk pretty bad. I wouldn't worry about it."

And, with a small grin on his face, he slipped inside the pipe and slid away to the underground. Time to kick some snake-butt.

This has to be, like, my shortest chappie eva. But I updated, and it seemed like a good time to end.
