'Yeah Jordi I know what he's like. I just worry when he does his disappearing acts I always end up thinking he'll be found cut in to pieces, stuffed in a suitcase then thrown in to a lake. Yeah, well if you hear from him you tell him to drag his sorry ass back home. Yeah, thanks Jordi. I'll get those discs to you next week. Bye.'
Celia hit the red button on her phone ending her call to Jordi. She was at home slobbing about in just a vest top and her underwear, leaning back in her office chair at her desk with her feet up on the surface. Aiden had gone on one of his unannounced "sabbaticals" again and had been missing for a few days. Celia had tried her best to locate him but Aiden had a knack for falling off the grid when he really didn't want to be found. She had called all of his friends and their mutual acquaintances like she did every time he went walkabout and asked them to keep an eye out for him.
Celia picked up her mug thinking there was some coffee still left in it. No such luck. She glanced up at her computer screens. Celia's rig was a sight to behold, a collection of five, twenty-four inch monitors lined up along her desk attached to four linked computers housed in a purpose built cabinet. It had all the power she needed and made hacking and surveillance a breeze. She brought the news up on to one of the monitors and set various programmes running, all getting a screen of their own. Today in Aiden's absence she was going to make some money with her ATM hack, watch the news for a bit and hopefully try and find Aiden. She hammered a few times on a keyboard before leaving her desk to go and refill her coffee mug. The machine wasn't playing ball again and she constantly reminded herself to go buy a new one. Celia had switched the machine on earlier and got a few mugs of coffee out of it but now the jug just wasn't filling again. She slammed a fist down on top of the machine and as if by magic it decided to start working again. A few minutes later and she had a fresh cup of coffee.
Celia wandered back over to her chair and put her legs back up on to the desk, letting her legs stretch out. She sipped her coffee as she watched the news, letting her computers do all the hard work as she tried to work out the pros and cons of getting dressed and going out today. Then she thought that she couldn't even be bothered working it out so she gave up and decided to stay at home and not bother getting dressed. She didn't need to go out anyway and could order take out later.
Celia had just got settled again after her fourth mug of coffee that morning and a few more phone calls to Aiden's friends. Her ATM hack had already made just over nine-hundred dollars in the past few hours and in-between the odd web search and cigarette she was fairly content with herself watching re-runs of Cheers. That was all fine until her apartment door flew open and banged against the wall, making Celia jump and instinctively go for the 9mm Walther gun she had in a pancake holster taped under her desk. She stopped as soon as she heard the screams of "FREEZE! POLICE!" as she raised her hands up slowly before her head was forcefully introduced to her desk and her arms were dragged behind her back to be encased in cuffs.
'Celia Fleming. I'm Detective Carroway. You're under arrest.'
'You mind telling me what for Detective?' Celia huffed as she struggled against the police officers that were restraining her.'
'Ah you'll get your rights, I'm just… savouring this moment.'
Celia just rolled her eyes and banged her head back on her desk.
'Ahh fuck.'
'Okay Ms. Fleming we're off down to the station.' Detective Carroway had finished his revelling.
'Sure thing. After I get my rights read. And can I at least put some pants on first, it's kinda cold outside.'
'So you mean to say you've had no contact with him for several days now?'
'Precisely.' Celia said as she exhaled a mouthful of smoke. 'It's been nearly five days now.'
Celia was leaning back in to a rock solid chair trying to make herself comfortable as she smoked a cigarette. Detective Carroway was interviewing her along with his partner Detective Schmidt who was busy watching Celia and taking notes. Celia's lawyer had turned up a short while before and was sat beside her, butting in every so often whenever he thought she may say something she shouldn't.
'Well we're still looking for him.'
'Ha, I was too until you busted in on me.'
'Any luck Ms. Fleming?'
'What do you think? Son of a Bitch doesn't wanna be found. I mean, I'm good but Aiden's just upped his game and I must have been so damn close till you ruined it all.'
'Our guys are still trying to trace him.'
'Good luck with that Detectives. If I can't find him then you lot haven't got a fucking chance hahaha!'
Celia cackled as she stubbed her cigarette out in the small glass ashtray on the interview table. She took a swig of the terrible coffee she had been given then grinned as she put the plastic cup down.
'Now, take me to my sweet sweet cell if you must. I've got nothing more to say.'
